CHAPTER 48: Action & Reaction

“That’s harsh.” Youngji gave comment on the words Sukyeon said to Taekwoon.

“I know.. I regret it so much..” Sukyeon said while massaging her temple.

“So, you apologized, didn’t you?”

“After a week of silence, yes..”

Youngji laughed and asked again, “But as I know, after that he started to work on his project, right?”

“Yeah.. He was on fire.. He started to plan every details of the musical.. That was good, but..”

“But?”

“He asked me to be the female lead of his musical..” Sukyeon sighed.

“Did he??” Youngji was surprised.

“But I refused..”

“What? Whyyy?”

“Because I didn’t want to disturb him.. I mean, usually the relation between the director and the cast is not good.. Just like Minki and I or Jongdae with Jaebum.. I don’t want to get through another fight with him..” She sighed an continued, “But the fight is inevitable.. “

That day Sukyeon had an appointment with her lecturer, just right before she left the room Jaebum came in.

“Oh, you came.. ” Prof Nam greeted Jaebum who came in to the room. He bowed as a reply.

“Please sit and wait for a minute..” He said to Jaebum.

Knowing that Prof Nam has an appointment with Jaebum, Sukyeon said, “Prof, thank you so much for the advice, please excuse m-“

“Sukyeon ssi, do you have any agenda after this?” Prof Nam cut her words.

“Agenda? No, Prof.. I’m free..”

“Why don’t you accompany Jaebum to Seoul Arts Center? Actually I’m a bit sacred to send him by himself..”

“Ah.. “ Sukyeon stole a glance to see Jaebum who was also surprised by Prof’s request.

Heol, I should’ve said that I have agenda.

She couldn’t think any proper reason to refuse Prof’s offer, so she surrendered, “Mmm, ye Prof..”

“Thank you Sukyeon ssi..” Prof. Nam was smiling to her and then said to Jaebum, ”Jaebum come here, this is the document that should be signed by them..”

Jaebum walked closer to Prof Nam and sat on a chair next to Sukyeon. “Ye, Prof.. “

“Are you okay with Sukyeon ssi accompanying you to go there?”

“It’s my pleasure to have her accompany me, Prof..” Jaebum made a broad smile as it was irritated Sukyeon.

Damn.

“Well, good luck...”

And that was how Sukyeon ended up going with Jaebum that day, the beginning of a wild storm happened later.

“Huh, I can’t believe I agree to accompany you... Like why’d you have to be accompanied?? You’re not a little child, Im Jaebum..” Sukyeon complained soon as they went out from Prof’s room.

“Seems you really dislike the idea of being with me today?” Jaebum answered a question with a question as usual.

Sukyeon only responded with a chuckle and it made Jaebum continued to say, “Don’t ask me.. Ask Prof if you dare..”

 “Well, I’m not that brave enough.. “Sukyeon sighed and then stopped to take her phone.

She tried to call Taekwoon but he didn’t pick up.

“Try to call your... boyfriend?” Jaebum asked in hesitation to say the word boyfriend.

Meanwhile Sukyeon answered in relax, “Yeah, but he’s not answering.. I better send him message..”

Jaebum let out a tsk and mumbled, “You’re still the same, Chasuk..”

“What are you saying?” Sukyeon asked while still looking at her phone to text a message to Taekwoon.

Jaebum only responded with, “No... nothing..”. He couldn’t help but to feel jealous over Taekwoon. Sukyeon is always loyal to Taekwoon, she didn’t give Jaebum a chance not even once to take her heart. She always drew a line to remind him that she has a boyfriend, and somehow it hurts him.

Jaebum wondered will he ever be Sukyeon’s main focus even for a day, but when he looked at how focus Sukyeon even for texting Taekwoon, he already knew the answer. He made a bitter smile not long before Sukyeon finished texting and said, “Done. Let’s go...”

Jaebum got an additional task from Prof. Nam to cover his lack of attendance in the subject that Prof. Nam teaching, Musical Organization. He was asked to interview the Seoul Arts Organization about their experience in organizing many musicals that they had been held for these years and how they overcome the problems occured. Jaebum did the interview really well. He asked questions systematically and responded his interviewee’s answers enthusiastically. He looked like a professional, no one could even wonder how messy and rude he usually was. Sukyeon was smiling like a proud noona to see him do well on his own.

After finishing the interview, Jaebum treat Sukyeon an ice cream.

 “I only get ice cream? I deserve a dinner..” Sukyeon complained playfully as she got her ice cream.

“Don’t you forget that you still owe me a dinner? Please remember that the last time we had dinner is on me.. You left without paying..” Jaebum smirked.

“Ah! I’m sorry.. You know how mad Taek-ssi that time..”

Can you not mention his name for today? Jaebum said in his heart bitterly.

“Jaebum ah, let’s go to that park to eat this ice cream..” Sukyeon without hesitation grabbed his arm and dragged him to the nearest park.

There, they sat side by side eating their ice cream while enjoying the sun that soon to be set down.

Sukyeon was looking at Jaebum for a quite minutes examining his appearance, until Jaebum asked, “Why do you look at me like that?”

“You endured it well, Im Jaebum..” Sukyeon said it while holding her laugh.

Jaebum turned her head and asked, “What do you mean?”

Sukyeon chuckled, “Look at you.. neat hairstyle, no piercing, long sleeved shirt, black trouser, formal shoes.. It must be so hard for you to dress like this, remembering how much you love your leather jacket and ripped jeans..”

Jaebum laughed and then asked, “But I look handsome though..Am I right?”

Sukyeon scoffed. “Do you want me to tell the truth or lie?”

“Lie is fine..” Jaebum answered with smirk.

“Then, you’re handsome..” Sukyeon said it relax.

Jaebum turned his head to Sukyeon and said, “Kamsahamnida Cha Sukyeon ssi...”

Looking at Jaebum’s annoyed expression, Sukyeon was laughing so hard. “Do you want to know the truth, uhm?”

“What?” Jaebum asked lazily.

“You’re super handsome, Imjae!” Sukyeon said it and then laughed. She loved to tease Jaebum.

Jaebum couldn’t help but to blush and smile. “Well, do you like this neat Jaebum or Rock n roll Jaebum?”

“I don’t like you..” Sukyeon answered fastly.

“What??” Jaebum was dumbfounded at Sukyeon playful jokes.

“I just say that you’re super handsome, but I don’t say that I like you Imjae...” Sukyeon was laughing so hard.

“Heol, you’re smart..” Jaebum stated a defeat.

“Kamsahamnida Im Jaebum ssii...” Sukyeon said it while a bit bowing.

“Heish, this girl..” Jaebum was giggling over Sukyeon’s joke.

While munching her last bite of ice cream, she asked, “But tell me how could you get lack of attendance? Where were you going instead of the class?” Sukyeon asked him seriously.

“His class is just boring..” Jaebum answered in relax while biting the cone.

“I don’t think so.. His class is fine.. Moreover Prof. Nam is really kind..”

“Yeah, he is too kind.. That’s why I couldn’t find any excitement in his class.. a.k.a boring..”
