The Best Day Ever (Part 1)

To Steal His Heart

Alrighty! So...I'm really sorry for not updating lately. To be honest, I wasn't going to update at all today because I had a bit of writer's block, but then everything just came to me, so it is. So, I made a longer chapter this time.

I just wanted to give a quick heads up. I may have either slow updates or will be on a small hiatus on December 12th onward due to a small qriting contest I joined >.< This will probably affect the expected finish date for this story. The way I see it, this story has a max. of 70 chapters total, a min. of 53 chapters; therefore an average of about 62 chapters. Its expected finish time is (max) May 12, (min)  January 14; therefore for the probable finish date: March 17

I'm guessing this will last out longer than I would have planned. So that was a small heads up so that you all know what's going on with this story. I hope you all enjoy the chapter. Oh, and yesterday was Donghae's birthday <3

Nana's eyebrows furrowed. She bit into her lip, pouting as she eyed the fabric of her shirt. She the hem, her thumb slowly gliding over the material. A loud sigh escaped her lips when she glanced into the mirror. Everything just looked so wrong to her. Although she had never cared much for appearances, for the first time she had found herself disappointed in the way she looked. She suddenly felt self-conscious and vulnerable like never before. This was the first she had ever tried this hard to look good for someone, but she just felt like she needed to.

"Are you done yet?" Nana's heart skipped a beat. She flinched in surprise, biting on her tongue, hard, in the process. She gave a small yelp, and pouted. She jumped once again at the sound of the door creaking open as an impatient Kyuhyun marched into the room.

"Hey!" She exclaimed, although her voice sounded weird as she was clutching her throbbing tongue with a hand. Kyuhyun gave her a weird look at this. "You can't just barge into here. What if I was still changing?"

"You've been changing for the past hour." He argued, rolling his eyes. "Besides, I heard a noise. I thought you were hurt or something." His bashful gaze met the ground as he finished the sentence. He turned away to hide his flushed cheeks, as she glanced up at him with her huge glossy eyes.

"I bit my tongue." She simply replied, ignoring the jittery giddy feeling inside her. The very thought of Kyuhyun being worried over her health got her feeling ecstatic. A sudden wide smile broke out across her face, as she stared at Kyuhyun. "But I'm fine now." With a small smile, she reached forward to grasp Kyuhyun's hand in her own. "Now let's start that best day of my life, right?" He nodded slowly, eyeing their entwined fingers. A wide grin formed across his face as his thoughts set to determination to prove his to be the best day of Nana's life.

He was going to win her heart. He was going to do it. There was no time for hesitating anymore.

"So...Kyu. Where exactly are we going?" Nana questioned curiously. Kyuhyun smirked, swinging their entwined hands as they walked. He ignored her pleading looks, and knowingly shook his head.

"That's a secret until we get there." He answered. He glanced over at her, only to find the pouting that he was expecting. He found it slightly amusing that she was so disturbed by the fact that she didn't know where she was going. Nana never liked not knowing. Kyuhyun smirked, deciding to torture her just a bit more before unveiling anything. If he told her it wouldn't be fun, would it?

"Do you want to play a guessing game?" He asked. She glanced up at him in confusion before slowly nodding. He smiled squeezing her hand before continuing. "The place we're going should be familiar to you. It's a place you know, so you should be able to recognize it when we see it. It's where everything began." She tilted her head and pursed her lips in thought, as she attempted to piece together the clues. Then again, she'd never been great at that either, so she struggled to guess correctly.

"You'll see when we get there." He chuckled at her clueless-ness. Nana pouted, knowing that he was practically mocking her for being bad at guessing. They walked a little longer, Nana begging for hints along the way. He found himself smiling every time his gaze locked with their entwined hands. It felt perfectly, like her's just fit in place with his...like it was meant to be, and it bothered him slightly that there was a huge possibility that he was the only one that felt this way.

They had finally come to a stop. Nana glanced around in confusion.

"This is a park." She stated, as if it weren't obvious. He stared down at her, expecting her to say something else, but received nothing. Kyuhyun sighed loudly, obviously a bit irritated that she couldn't catch on. Nana, on the other hand, ignored this, and surveyed her surroundings. Her eyes widened in realization. She turned towards Kyuhyun, and opened to speak.

"I remember this place!" She exclaimed happily, clasping her hands together. Nana gazed around the park, marveling at the different sights, and the memories they brought back.

"You get it now?" Kyuhyun confirmed with a smile. She nodded her head, happily staring at al the familiar things that she could recognize.

"This is where...we met, right? We used to play here." Nana reminisced. Her eyes suddenly sparkled as her gaze settled on a particular area of the park. She turned to Kyuhyun with a cheerful glint in her eyes and a wide bright smile.

"Look, Kyu! Swings!" She happily squealed, pointing to the said item. He couldn't help but smile at her contagious excitement. He nodded his head, and grasped for her hand, pulling her along. They stopped before the swings. Her glossy eyes scanned the contraption up and down. She practically bounced up and down in excitement. Kyuhyun laughed at this, and squeezed her hand.

"Sit down." He ordered. She stopped to face him, with a slightly surprised look. "Sit down on the swing." He repeated. Nana tilted her head curiously, but did what she was told. She clutched each side of the metal wires that held the swing up. She glanced up expectantly at Kyuhyun who merely offered her a wide grin. He stepped behind her, and settled his hands on the her upper back.

"I'll push you." He offered. She swerved in her seat to meet him with a pout. With furrowed eyebrows, she spoke stubbornly.

"No way."

"You don't trust me?"

"You know what happened last time." Nana pointed out. She turned her head away, pouting for dramatic affect. Kyuhyun rolled his eyes and smirked. He the back of her hair as if to reassure her, and sighed.

"Nana, that was 10 years ago." Kyuhyun stated in a matter of fact tone. "Besides...do you really think I'd do something mean on your best day of your life? The point of this, is for me to do everything right this time." She stared at him wide eyed.

"Really, Kyu? Y-you regret doing all those mean things to me?" She asked incredulously. Her cheeks flushed at the very thought, and she felt a fluttery feeling rise in her chest. Her whole basis of hating Kyuhyun in the first place, was for something he regretted. She found herself unconsciously smiling at this, as he slowly nodded his head. She lifted her head, staring straight into the sky. She kicked her heels and smiled, gripping the metal swing bars tighter.

"Push me, Kyu!" She giggled happily, kicking her feet in the air. He grinned. Positioning himself behind the petite girl, he gave her a light push, propelling herself into the air. He couldn't help but smile as the musical melody of her giggles reached his ears. He felt warm inside, like her happiness was affecting him too. As she flew higher into the air, more delighted giggles erupted from her. She felt as though she were flying. From behind her, she could hear Kyuhyun's shouting.

"Did I do it right this time?" Kyuhyun called after her. She paused for a few minutes, her giggles ceasing. She turned her head towards his direction, a wide smile breaking out across her face.

"Yes, Kyu! You're the best!"

Nana scowled, glaring at the boy who stood across from her, smirking mischievously. She crossed her arms across her chest, narrowing her eyes at him. The boy grinned, delighted by the fact that just the sight of him now aggravated her this much. Her umma, on the other hand, was oblivious to the deep frown on her daughter's face. She nudged her daughter forward with a small grin.

"Now, now, Nana. I'll just be over at that bench talking with Kyuhyun's umma. Be sure to play nicely, okay? Don't make him feel lonely, and don't be mean." Her umma warned. She squeezed her daughter's shoulder, before sending her off. Nana frowned, attempting to throw her umma a pleading look, but her umma was already walking off with the other woman. She sighed, and faced Kyuhyun. Her eyebrows furrowed and she hesitated. She didn't exactly want to play with him. In the past two years, she had learned one thing. Being involved with Cho Kyuhyun, was no fun.

And even worse, was being considered "interesting" by him.

She turned to leave, deciding to play by herself, but was stopped by a rough tug on her ponytail. With annoyance, she turned to face Kyuhyun's smirking face.

"She said to play together." He stated simply. Nana's eyebrows furrowed. She pouted, childishly stomping her foot into the ground in protest. "I want to play on the swings."

"Why do we have to do what you want?" Nana demanded, disappointed. She eyed the sandbox across the way, and sighed, knowing that one way or another, Kyuhyun would get his way. It was always like that. Kyuhyun always won, whether it be by persuasion or other measures. "Fine."

He dragged her over to the swing set, and took a seat at the only swing.

"Push me, Nana." He ordered. Her eyes widened as she glanced at him incredulously at the way he was treating her. Did she look like his servant? She pouted, glancing up at him with glossy big pleading eyes, but he ignored her puppy dog look. With a grumble, she subsided, and did as she was told. After a good 10 minutes, she stopped.

"Is it my turn yet?" She called. A look of annoyance crossed his face. Soon it was replaced with a mischievous smirk. He skidded his feet across the ground to stop himself, and jumped off the swing. Kyuhyun gestured for her to take a seat. Naively she smiled brightly, and sat on the swing.

"I'll push you too." Kyuhyun offered. Nana's eyes sparkled, and she smiled at him.

"Really, Kyuhyun? You're the best!" He grinned, and pushed her roughly to get her off the ground. After a few minutes, she was up high in the air, swinging at a very high speed. Her cheerful squeals sounded in the air. Kyuhyun smirked.

Once she had swung back towards him, he roughly grasped onto her ponytail, to stop her. She did indeed stop, but fell backwards, flipping to the ground. A sickening crack was heard as her head hit the ground. She gazed up. Her vision had become blurry by now, and everything was fuzzy due to her dizziness. Kyuhyun's eyes widened, and his mouth dropped open.

"Crap." He rushed over to her, hovering over her small figure. He shook her shoulders as if it would help any. "Nana? Are you okay? Does your head hurt? I didn't mean for that to happen. I swear, I didn't." He sighed in relief as she slowly sat up. Relieved, he pulled her into a tight embrace. His grip around her small body never loosened. He sighed into her back, burying his face into her small shoulder.

"Kyuhyun..." Nana spoke slowly, and in a small voice. She clutched her head, still feeling very dizzy. "I thought you didn't care." He shook his head, burying his face further into the crook of her neck. His grip around her tightened, and his body tensed up at her words.

"That's not it, Nana. I do care. I think I care too much." His words were muffled as he pressed himself closer to her. He paused before continuing to add something she thought she'd never hear him say. "I'm sorry, Nana. Please never get hurt like that again. I'm sorry."

"Were you worried and scared, Kyu?" His reply came without any hesitation.

"Yes."
