What A Fail
To Steal His Heart
JaeHwa pouted, wrapping her arms around her body. She was still pissed off after what Kyuhyun had told her. She wasn't dense, she'd already figured that he liked Nana, and unfortunately for him, Nana seemed to be dating that older guy. It was just that she hated the fact that he continued to pursue her. What was so great about Kim Nana? Was she really worth all the time he wasn't wasting on her?
It just wasn't fair. JaeHwa did her best too as a woman. She fought to get her feelings through. She showed her full affection, and did her best to get Kyuhyun's attention. Why was it that Nana deserved his attention? She didn't try hard for it, she wasn't nearly as pretty, and above all, she didn't even like Kyuhyun. Why did he keep trying? What was the point? He could find someone new just as easily. He could break ties with her, and live happily ever after, but no. He insisted on pursing Nana, although she didn't feel the same way.
It was ridiculous, and it was hurting everyone. He was hurting Nana's boyfriend, Nana, bothering MiSun and his own friend, Sungmin, hurting her, and most of all, hurting himself. Yes, prior to many beliefs, she was human. She felt hurt too. Why? Because although she acted like a b***h, she had genuine feelings for Kyuhyun. There wasn't a thing she didn't like about him. If she could, she'd do whatever she could for him, with the exception of giving up on him. She was far too selfish for that.
That was the thing, she wasn't as horrible as she led on. She was just selfish and greedy. JaeHwa didn't want anyone else to have Kyuhyun. She loved and wanted him. Was that so wrong? She'd do whatever it takes to keep him away from others, simply because she was jealous. She acted mean and rude because she was being possessive. She wasn't like this to everyone...well, mostly everyone. That didn't mean she was a sweet person. She was stubborn, selfish, but she was also hard working. Kyuhyun was someone she refused to give up on. Her determination showed that much.
JaeHwa's eyebrows furrowed as she paced around the school hallways. She didn't want to admit it, but she was lost. Heck, she didn't even go to this school. She only snuck in, and skipped her own school, just sot hat she could see and talk to Kyuhyun, although he'd probably find it to be a bother. She had been searching for him, but got lost after a while.
She suddenly shrugged, frustrated, and headed back to the only place she had memorized; the girl's bathroom. It was only a few hallways down. She decided that she'd try to find her way after using that place as a starting place, since it was the only place she knew.
As she neared the bathroom, she started to hear a few sniffles. Curiously, she entered. At first, she saw nothing. It wasn't until she looked around that she noticed a petite girl balled up in the corner of the bathroom, crying her eyes out.
Feeling that humane sympathetic emotion, JaeHwa neared the girl, and patted her shoulder. The girl abruptly seemed to be...wiping her eyes. She then turned to JaeHwa with a bright, although obviously forced, smile. JaeHwa's eyes widened as she finally realized who the girl was; Kim Nana. A part of her wanted to get angry due to her usually jealousy of her, but she just found that she couldn't. She still felt sorry for Nana for whatever reason she was crying. She wasn't that cold.
"J-JaeHwa." Nana gasped, seemingly taken aback by her sudden appearance. Her lips trembled, forming into a line. She suddenly seemed to notice her change in expression, and forced another smile.
"A-Are you okay?" JaeHwa finally managed to choke out through her nerves. After all, this was the first civilized conversation she'd ever attempted with Nana. She wasn't sure what to think. Would the other girl resent her for all the times she was mean to her? She gazed down at Nana, who looked away. Her face reddened slightly, and she wiped at her tear-stained cheeks, although there were no more tears to wipe away. She'd already wiped them before deciding to turn around to face JaeHwa.
"I'm fine. What are you talking about?" Nana giggled, gulping nervously after her awkward giggle. JaeHwa raised an eyebrow at the girl, and patted her shoulder in an awkward motion.
"Then why were you crying?" JaeHwa questioned. Nana's lip trembled and her face grew red. She looked away, hiding her face, still maintaining that stupid fake grin.
"I-I wasn't-"
"I may not be the nicest to you, but..." JaeHwa began. She stopped mid-sentence as she couldn't think of anything encouraging to say. This wasn't some cheesy movie or drama. She wasn't all of a sudden going to become Nana's best friend. She was too selfish for that. The most she could do right now was temporarily give her support due to her sympathy, and then be her enemy again tomorrow. "You were crying, I heard and saw you, so there's no point in hiding it. Just tell me why."
"If I tell you, you'll get mad. Because it's involving..." Nana started, her face turning serious. JaeHwa rolled her eyes already knowing what would come next.
"Kyuhyun oppa." She finished effortlessly, not bothered in the slightest. Nana seemed a bit shocked that she was alright with that. She shyly glanced down at the ground and nodded, JaeHwa couldn't help but notice the sad pleading expression that had taken over her features at just the mention of Kyuhyun's name.
"What happened?" JaeHwa pressed on. She settled down next to Nana, and nodded over at her. "Don't worry. I won't get angry."
Nana nodded, and nervously dwindled with her fingers. Her lips formed into a pout, and she looked like she was blinking back tears that were threatening to flood down. She suddenly pinched her arm to keep herself from crying. JaeHwa couldn't help but think hat she was strange. Why wouldn't she just cry? Wasn't it better to let it all out?
"You see...I thought Kyuhyun-ssi and I were really good friends now." Nana began in a quiet tone. She cautiously glanced over at JaeHwa, shaking slightly. JaeHwa took note of the fact that she was now using formalities when speaking his name, almost as though she were afraid to drop them. It was like she wasn't sure whether they were friends or not anymore. She nodded for Nana to continue.
"Originally, Kyuhyun-ssi and I weren't on good terms. He liked...teasing me, so we used to fight and argue daily. A few months ago, that all changed, and Kyuhyun and I started to become good friends. I thought that we were getting really close, but..." Nana's voice suddenly started to get shaky. Her gaze rested on the ground, looking dazed. "Kyuhyun-ssi...he told me that he hates me. He said I was a fool for believing that we were actually even friends..."
JaeHwa's eyes widened, and she opened to protest, but was cut off.
"Maybe I am an idiot. I'm stupid, gullible, and dense. I should have expected this, but I was too stupid." She giggled awkwardly, lightly punching her forehead. Once again, tears started to well up in her eyes as she grinned bitterly, turning towards JaeHwa. "But it hurts. It feels like my heart is bleeding or something. It makes me wish that I could just stop it from beating this hard. Maybe then all the pain would go away."
It was now, that JaeHwa started to get angry. As much as she loved Kyuhyun...this was outright horrible. Why was he ruining things further for himself? Why was he hurting himself again? Why was he hurting Kim Nana more in the process? It just seemed so...cruel. JaeHwa didn't like Nana, due to the fact that she was jealous of her. She probably never would, but this...it was just too horrible to see, because she knew the feeling. She knew the feeling of being betrayed and hurt, and she wouldn't stand for it.
"That's not it!" JaeHwa yelled in protest, "Kyuhyun loves you, you stupid girl. He loves you. He's just a stupid idiot who keeps doing this to make things more complicated for himself. Aish...that liar. He doesn't hate you! Not at all!"
Nana's eyes widened as she glanced up at JaeHwa.
"Really?" She asked, hopefully. JaeHwa put a hand to her cheek, nervously.
"Well...he didn';t actually say that, but I'm sure that's what he fee-" She tried, before being interrupted by Nana. She glanced over at the girl curiously, as she finally stood up.
"It's alright." She finally spoke, managing a sad small smile, "I think I get it. I'll be fine."
With that, she left, as the shadow of a sad figure. JaeHwa blinked, raising a fist to her head in frustration. What a fail.
