Drabble 37: Water

“Do it for the viewers. Please hyung!” Baekhyun wheedled.

“If I have to go in, doesn’t that mean that Kris should go in too?” Suho looked over at Kris, only to see Chanyeol pulling Kris back into the circle. Well, there goes that idea.

“You’ll look so cool hyung! Our rating will go up!”

We don’t want our rating to go up! Then we have to dress as girls! Aish, these boys…Suho grumbled mentally. He was very tempted to retort that “base flattery will get you nowhere”, but hey…they were on a beach. This could be fun, right? Sighing, he began to shed his puffy jacket.

“Ah!! Yay, so handsome hyung!” Meanwhile, managers began to pester him to take off his mic while the rest of the band burst into cheers.

Eventually, Suho ran into the ocean behind Luhan and probably ended up looking very stupid when his foot slipped in the sand and he almost went face first into the water. Laughing, he reached out and grabbed Luhan’s arm to steady himself, snickering when he saw that the waves had swept Kai out farther than the rest. He let his legs go weak beneath him as he rode the wave back up to the beach and then scrambled out of the water. Baekhyun threw a towel across his shoulders and he huddled into it, shivering. I am not listening to Baekhyun. Never again.

“I want to go in too, but I won’t!” Baekhyun giggled and ran away from the water. Suho dropped his head in despair, and D.O. dropped a second towel on his head in response.

Kris came to stand by him and gently began toweling his hair dry. “Are you ok?”

Suho shivered. “It’s cold.”

Kris began drying his hair more vigorously, and then moved down to his shoulders. “Hurry up and dry off. Otherwise, you’ll get sick.”

“I can’t, we have to finish filming,” Suho said patiently. “I’ll be fine.”

Kris tried to press the towel against his soaked shirt to absorb some sea water, but it didn’t seem to be working.

“You should’ve gone in with me.” Suho looked up at him mischievously. “It isn’t too late, you know.”

Kris rolled his eyes at Suho’s pout and poked his nose in response. “We can’t have two sick leaders, can we?”

Suho poked Kris’s scarf in retaliation, only to blink in surprise when he felt a pair of warm lips press against the cold skin of his forehead. “What…?”

“Sorry.” Kris abruptly released Suho’s shoulders and stepped away. “I shouldn’t have done that. I’m sorry.” He vanished to go talk to the other members while Chanyeol came to stand beside Suho. “Hyung? Are you ok?”

Suho pulled himself out of his reverie and threw his wet towel in Chanyeol’s face, laughing at the other’s surprised expression. “Ahaha, no everything is fine! Come on, round everyone up so that Kai, Luhan, and I can go change into dry clothes.”

Later on, when everyone gathered in the dorm on Thursday night to watch the show, Suho wasn’t surprised to see that his moment with Kris on the beach had been cut out from the episode. He raised an eyebrow at Kris, who smiled sheepishly at him before reaching over to grab his hand. Suho pursed his lips and sent Kris a warning with his eyes.

Be careful. There’s only so much we can do in public.
