The Most Ridiculous Way to Lock Yourself Out
What My Heart Tells Me To DoChapter 39: The Most Ridiculous Way to Lock Yourself Out
|Dara's Perspective|
Over the past few weeks, CL and I had been spending a lot of time hanging out at the cafe with Jiyong. We didn't really have much else to do in the summer since we were both too lazy to get jobs ourselves, so we settled on just "bothering" Jiyong all summer. We were honestly there pretty much every day, but he didn't seem to mind—in fact he loved the company. Sometimes we would walk with him to work and stay there for the day, and sometimes we would pop in with lunch for him—and if we were feeling generous, TOP and the others as well.
I had to say, we became a lot closer with the other guys in the cafe too. Like Jiyong, they were really easy to get along with; they almost felt like big brothers rather than friends. They were really dorky most of the time and they would get into fights really easily. It was amusing to watch. Seungri and Jiyong they were like the Tom and Jerry of the VIP'z Cafe. I swear every 10 seconds, they are arguing about something.
Just last week, Seungri was trying to make a documentary called “The Life of a Plate” and stuck one of those Go Pro cameras into the brand new dishwasher that the cafe had bought. You could imagine how that had ended. The dishwasher had only been used once and it was already broken. Seungri didn't come into work for 3 days after that. I think he feared for his life—actually even I wouldn’t have the guts to come back to work with TOP being all scary.
When he finally came back though, he was dubbed as the new “Dishwashing Boy” since he broke the dishwasher. And, just for the heck of it the rest of the guys would make sure all the plates get nice and crusty so he would have a harder time washing them.
I smiled and leaned back in the couch of CL's apartment as I reminisced on the time that we had spent together over the break. So much had happened and summer was already halfway over. One more month and school would be starting up again. I looked beside me and saw Jiyong and CL talking quietly amongst themselves.
“Guys,” I started, trying to get their attention. Jiyong looked over to me as CL stopped what she was saying. “It's already August...summer is already halfway over. Can I go cry in a hole now?”
“Wow, you're right,” CL said, thinking about it for the first time, “I didn't even realize.”
“Well, at least it means you can reunite with Henry soon,” Jiyong said with a smirk, making kissing sounds with his lips. CL narrowed her eyes, annoyed at his mocking and hit him on the arm.
“Think about it guys...we're going to be in grade 12 next year—our last year of high school. We only really have this one last year together . . .” her voice got a lot quieter at the last part. We were all silent for a moment as we thought about the future. I know most people say that they'll stay in touch after high school, but the reality is that not many actually do. It becomes so much harder to meet and stay in contact. I didn't want to think about it. My life without CL and Jiyong . . . just the thought makes me feel uneasy.
Jiyong was the first to speak up.
“Well then, we'd better make it an amazing year. We've got a lot to top considering how awesome the last few months were" he smiled as he thought of the days they had spent together. I couldn't help but smile too as I thought about the time we had first met and how stupid we were and how amazing he was and all the idiotic things we had done together.
