Chapter 10 Welcome Home, Farewell and a Promise for a Happy Life

Today is the day the girls are going to arrive from America. Mr. Jung sent his butler Alfred to pick up the girls. “Alfred, kindly pick the girls up for me. It appears I have some urgent matters to attend to.”

 

Alfred nodded affirmatively and was about to take leave “Oh, one more thing Alfred. Please tell Jessica I’m sorry I couldn’t fetch her myself today.”

 

“Don’t you worry about a thing Master, I’ll be sure to explain everything to Lady Jessica.”

 

“Thank you Alfred.” Mr. Jung took his leave and went inside the car waiting for him outside the mansion. He was now on his way to a business meeting at Jung Industries Tower.

 

Later that morning Jessica,Tiffany and Yoona’s plane touched down at Incheon International Airport. They exited their plane and were now on their way to collect their luggages.

 

“Alright! Finally! I’m back home! I can’t wait to see my sisters!” Jessica pumped her fist and was excited to see her sisters. Tiffany and Yoona couldn’t help but giggle at Jessica’s behavior.

 

“You know Jess we’ve known you for years but seeing you like this is far off from the typical Ice Princess we know and love.” Yoona raised her eyebrow at Jessica while Tiffany just chuckled.

 

“Yah! Im choding, *bleh~* I’m just really glad to be back home!” Jessica stuck her tongue out and crossed her arms, earning chuckles from Yoona and Tiffany.

 

“Jess seriously, I know what you mean. I missed hanging around those two chodings.” Tiffany smiled when she remembered how Nicole and Krystal usually get her in trouble.

 

“Oh by the way Yoona, wait til you see Krystal you won’t believe that she actually looks more like you than Ice Princess over there.” Tiffany grinned and pointed to Jessica.

 

“Yah! Mushroom! *pakk~!* you better stop pissing me off!” Jessica lightly smacked Tiffany’s head.

 

“Now, that’s more like the Jessica I’m used to seeing” Yoona laughed at Tiffany who was scratching her head while giving Jessica an annoyed look.

 

“Hey! There’s our luggage!” Yoona yelled hoping to gain the attention of Tiffany and Jessica.

 

After getting their luggage Jessica, Tiffany and Yoona placed their luggages in a trolley.

They went out of the arrival area; Jessica was looking for her dad or her sisters. But instead she saw Alfred standing next to a Black Lincoln Navigator. She couldn’t help but feel disappointed.

 

“Lady Jessica, it’s truly wonderful to see you again. Lady Tiffany you’re cute as ever.” Alfred greeted the two and then turned his attention to Yoona.

 

“And you must be Lady Yoona, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you, my name is Alfred , the Jung Family Butler at your service.” Alfred smiled at Yoona.

 

“Thank you Ahjussi…Nice to meet you!” Yoona smiled and shook Alfred’s hand.

 

“Alfred, where’s my dad and mom… how about my sisters? Why are they not here?” Jessica looked real sad, she was expecting her dad, her sisters or at least her mom would come to fetch her.

 

“I’m so sorry Lady Jessica; your parents are on a very important business meeting at Jung Industries towers.” Alfred paused before explaining why Jessica’s sisters aren’t around.

 

“As for your sisters they’re in school right now. They have dance and singing rehearsals for their recital next week.”

 

“I see, I guess it can’t be helped.” Jessica looked dejected

 

“Cheer up Jess, they would be home later, Right Ahjussi?” Yoona comforted Jessica by rubbing her back.

 

“Of course, they’ll be around tonight since we’re having your welcome home dinner tonight.” Alfred smiled hoping to cheer up Jessica.

 

“Come on Jess, enough of this drama, I really wanna go home now.” Tiffany pouted and was just too exhausted from their long flight.

 

Jessica nodded and they all got inside the SUV, after placing the luggages inside, Alfred and the girls drove out of the airport and headed to the Jung Family Mansion.

 

Meanwhile back in Japan

 

“Yah Sooyoung! Didn’t I tell you to pack your things weeks ago?” Taeyeon yelled at Sooyoung who was madly scrambling to pack her stuff.

 

“Gosh! Baka! Stupid skinny pig I can’t believe you” Taeyeon shook her head in disbelief that Sooyoung didn’t listen to her.

 

“You better finish packing or else you won’t be eating lunch and dinner today!” Taeyeon exclaimed before starting to walk out of Sooyoung’s room.

 

“No~! Please Tae! Anything but that Mianhe~ please Tae moushiwake gozaimasen!” Sooyoung bowed down to the floor hoping Taeyeon would forgive her.

 

“Fine wakarimaa just listen to me next time arraso?” Taeyeon smiled and accepted Sooyoung’s apology.

 

“Anyway, finish packing up okay? After lunch we need to accompany Yuri to visit her parents’ grave before we leave for Seoul tomorrow.” Taeyeon’s tone became soft and sensitive. She knows too well how Yuri feels about leaving her beloved home.

 

“Dae, Tae… I’ll be done in a few minutes” Sooyoung understood Tae was being serious. Though they have never seen Yuri breakdown and cry they knew too well that they would never want to see their beloved kkab cry. Taeyeon went out of Sooyoung’s room and headed downstairs. She saw that Yuri was sitting at the dining table waiting for her and Sooyoung.

 

“Tae~ come on hurry~ I’m hungry already~” Yuri called out with aegyo and waved her hands at Taeyeon; signaling her to join her at the table.

 

Taeyeon couldn’t help but smile, though she didn’t really like anyone using aegyo, she just couldn’t get mad at kkab Kwon. Taeyeon just chuckled like an ahjumma and walked towards Yuri. Yuri pouted when she heard Taeyeon’s ahjumma laugh. “What’s the big idea, Taenggo?”

 

“Gomen, Yuri-chan~ please don’t be upset, I just couldn’t help but laugh” Yuri was still puzzled, she continued to pout and tilted her head to the side slightly.

 

“Aigoo, Yuri-chan you’re just so cute! Kyeopta! Kyaaa~” Taeyeon pinched Yuri’s cheeks and giggled

“Yah! Tae stop pinching my cheeks~” Yuri used aegyo again; her cheeks are turning red because Taeyeon pinched them.

 

“Let’s eat already arraso?” Taeyeon stopped pinching Yuri’s cheeks and took a seat as well.

 

“Yah~! Don’t start eating without me!” Sooyoung suddenly joined them at the table and took a  seat as well.

 

“Yah! Pabo! Have you finished packing already?” Taeyeon furrowed her eyebrows and gave Sooyung a You-better-be-done-packing glare.

 

“Of course, I’ve done that already!” Sooyoung confidently smirked while patting her chest.

 

Yuri was amused at the two, “Come on guys! Let’s eat already!”

 

“Itadakimasu~!” The three of them cheered then they started eating.

 

After finishing their meal and cleaning the dishes, the three of them went out of the house to visit Yuri’s parents grave. They got inside Taeyeon’s car and headed towards the cemetery. After 20 minutes they arrived at Tokyo memorial garden.

 

Yuri knelt down infront of her parents grave lit some incense and placed flowers as well. She started to pray to her parents. Taeyeon and Sooyoung stood beside Yuri and in silence offered some prayers to them as well.

 

“Otosan, Okasan, I’m gonna be leaving tomorrow, I would finally be able to go to Korea.” Yuri started to cry, tears were now streaming down her face.

 

Taeyeon and Sooyoung noticed Yuri’s voice shaking and they also heard her sob lightly. They knelt down beside Yuri and both of them gave her a warm hug.

 

“You promised we-we would go there to- *sob* together… bu-but *sob* I guess…” Yuri couldn’t finish what she was saying; she was overcome with her emotions she broke down and cried hard.

 

Flashback

 

Yuri was talking with her mom over the phone.

 

“Mom, Dad when will you get here? I’m going to be competing in 20 minutes.” Yuri was getting nervous she was fidgeting a lot.

 

“Yuri honey calm down. We’re already on our way, arraso? There’s no way we’re going to miss your swimming competition okay?” Mrs. Kwon tried to assure her daughter that they would make it in time.

 

“Okay mom, just get here fast arraso?” Yuri was still worried; she never liked competing without her parents watching her.

 

Mrs. Kwon gave her cell phone to Mr. Kwon, “Now my sweet pearly why don’t you just relax okay? We are almost there already. Otosan and Okasan are nearly there…”

 

Suddenly *HHHHOOOOONNNNNNKKKKK~!!!* An oncoming truck’s horn was blaring. “Honey look out!” Mrs. Kwon screamed. Mr. Kwon dropped the phone and got startled. He tried to avoid the oncoming truck; the car veered towards the railings. The truck clipped the passenger side of the car. This caused the car to spin out of control and go through the railings and down the cliff. All the while the call didn’t end or cut off. Yuri could hear everything that was happening. Her mom and dad screaming for their lives and the loud rumbling as the car rolled down the side of the cliff. Then everything went silent, after a few minutes a loud explosion was the last thing she heard over the phone. *Beep~beep~beep* the call got disconnected; Yuri was in shock as tears fell down her cheeks. She wasn’t able to compete that day.

 

End of flashback

 

Taeyeon wiped the tears from Yuri’s eyes as Sooyoung rubbed her back while telling her “Yuri-ah please stop crying… we’re here for you buddy we’ll never leave your side.”

 

“Yuri-ah please calm down, it breaks my heart seeing you like this.” Taeyeon couldn’t help but let tears escape her eyes, seeing Yuri like this was too much for her.

 

After awhile Yuri finally calmed down, this made both Sooyoung and Taeyeon sigh in relief. Taeyeon asked “You feel better now Yul?”

 

“Dae, thanks Tae, Soo” Yuri nodded and showed a week smile to Sooyoung and Taeyeon.

 

Yuri got out of Taeyeon and Sooyoung’s embrace. She began to pray and talk to her parents again. “Otosan… Okasan… I promise this would be the last time I’ll cry in front of you… I promise to live a happy life from now on… Sayonara Otosan… Okasan…”

 

After saying her prayers and good bye Yuri stood up along with Taeyeon and Sooyoung. They went to their car and headed back home. They had dinner and slept early, they were fully aware that they have an early flight to Korea tomorrow.

 

Meanwhile back at the Jung Family Mansion

 

It is now night time and they were now all at the dinner table. A marvelous feast was prepared by Alfred and the mansion's kitchen staff. There is fresh tossed salad with balsamic vinaigrette and shrimp cocktails for appetizer. For the main course the kitchen staff and Alfred prepared a Grilled Venison backstrap, Tender chunks of venison are marinated twice, and wrapped in thick bacon before being grilled until crispy on the outside. A venison version of Filet Mignon, smothered in a hickory flavored barbecue sauce. For side dish there is sweet corn, green peas, mashed potato and freshly baked biscuits. Mr. and Mrs. Jung along with Jessica, Tiffany, Krystal, Nicole and Yoona were having a wonderful family dinner. Yoona particularly enjoyed this. It’s been awhile since she felt like she was really part of a family. She couldn’t help but smile as Tiffany was helplessly and mercilessly teased by Nicole and Krystal.

After eating Mr. Jung stood up and raised his wine glass, "I would like to take this opportunity and welcome home my beautiful daughters; Jessica, my dearest princess and my eye smiling sweetheart Tiffany."

 

"Finally I would also like to welcome the dearest and only daughter of late best friend and late sweet younger sister; Im Yoona" Mr. Jung nearly cried when he mentioned Yoona's parents.

Mrs. Jung stood beside her husband and intertwined her hands with his, "Yoongie~ we're really happy to have you here with us. I know you've been through a lot but we hope that you would want to be part of our family."

 

"Nothing would make us happier than you call us as mom and dad, I know we can't replace them but at least let  me and my wife fill the void in your heart." Mr. Jung spoke with utmost sincerity and hoped that Yoona would consider what he said.

 

Yoona cried and couldn't help but run to Mr. Jung and Mrs. Jung, she hugged them both, "Dae~ *sob~* Appa... Umma *sob~*" It meant a lot to her have someone she could call mom and dad again. Jessica, Tiffany, Nicole and Krystal were teary eyed and clapped their hands and cheered they were happy for Yoona.

 

Afterwards, Mr. Jung, Mrs. Jung and Yoona settled down to their seats, as the atmosphere became cordial and festive. The entire Jung family began chatting and laughing at the dinner table.

 

“Yah! Stop teasing me you two~!” Tiffany raised her voice at Krystal and Nicole. She was close to shedding tears.

 

“Aigoo! Nicole! Soojung! Stop teasing your Tiffany unnie!” Mrs. Jung got up from her seat and pulled her daughters ears. Eliciting painful squeals from the two Jung sisters.

 

“Thanks, umma~! Those two haven’t changed at all they always make fun of me~” Tiffany used her aegyo as Mrs. Jung comforted Tiffany and rubbed her back.

 

“Now now~ don’t cry okay Fany-ah! Now why don’t you show umma your beautiful eye smile, Dae?” Mrs. Jung couldn’t help but smile; she loved Tiffany just like one of her own daughters.

 

“Thanks! Umma~” Tiffany used her aegyo and flashed her eye smile as she hugged Mrs. Jung tightly.

 

Meanwhile Nicole and Krystal shot Tiffany an Icy glare, Yoona looked at them and laughed. Yoona became a little more serious “Krystal, Nicole, please stop teasing Tiffany-unnie, arraso?” she begged them.

 

Nicole and Krystal nodded like a pair of obedient chodings, they were in awe of Yoona’s angelic face. “Okay Yoona-unnie, we promise to go easier on Tiffany-unnie…” Krystal and Nicole solemnly promised to Yoona. Yoona smiled and patted both of their heads.

 

“Yah! Why do you two listen to her easily, while I have to make a lot of effort to get you to listen to me?” Jessica looked at her younger sisters as she raised her eyebrows.

 

“It’s because Yoona-unnie is much nicer than you Jessica-unnie!” Krystal replied and stuck her tongue out and Nicole just nodded and giggled.

 

“Yeah, and sometimes you can get as cold as the north pole!” Nicole exclaimed and Krystal just nodded.

 

Jessica pouted and hung her head down in defeat. “Aigoo! Princess please stop pouting” Mr. Jung comforted his favorite daughter. He never did like it when he sees her pouting or even worse sad and crying.

 

Their Jung family moment was cut short when, Alfred rang his dinner bell and brought out a trolley with 6 ice cream glasses filled with chocolate parfait.

 

“Pardon my intrusion, but dessert is ready, tonight we’re having Chocolate Parfait.” Alfred unveiled his delectable chocolate creation. Mr. and Mrs. Jung, the three Jung sisters, Tiffany and Yoona were all stunned when they saw Alfred’s creation. They all fell silent as Alfred served them his creation one by one.
