Chapter Thirty-Four:
Change.
I managed to somehow get out of classes early at the end of the day and by the time I got home my father was already there. He was surprised to see me as I burst into his bedroom, a frown forming on his face.
“Mira,” He stood up and came over to me as I panted “What’s wrong? You didn’t even come down for dinner yesterday and I heard from Jongdae at lunch time that you didn’t even have breakfast. Care to explain?”
So I did, from start to finish and my father ended up having to move backwards to sit back on the bed as well as on top of the folded clothes he was working on before I had ambushed him.
He raked his fingers through his hair with a sigh “What do you want to do about it Mira? Do you want me to stop Chanyeol from coming here? Because I can. It’s not up to Jongdae and it’s your feelings –”
“No,” I shook my head as I grabbed the hem of my shirt; I knew that at any moment Jongdae and the others will be turning up. I already knew Jongdae was meeting me outside of school, I had already slipped past him “Do you think that Grandma still has that spare room?”
My father stood up, shock spreading across his face as he came over and grabbed my shoulders “Mira, please don’t leave. I really don’t want you to go.”
“It’s me that needs to distance myself,” I nodded firmly “I’ll be back.”
“But they’re a nightmare when you’re not around,” He frowned deeply “I can’t handle them without you sweet heart.”
“I love you dad,” I wrapped my arms around his waist and hugged him tightly “But I need to do this. Please?”
“I’ll call her,” He said as he hugged me back, resting his chin on the top of my head “When would you like to go?”
“Now.”
He pulled back and frowned at me “I don’t even get to have dinner with you?”
“Dad, they’re on their way home,” I told him urgently “I know they’ll try to stop me. I don’t want that.”
“Okay,” He heaved a long sigh and nodded “I’ll call her. You go pack and then I’ll drive you there, okay?”
I gave him another, small but brief hug before moving into my bedroom and pulling my suitcase from under the bed. I locked my door and got to work on putting everything that I’d need, or wanted into the suitcase.
It was roughly five minutes after I had started that I heard the front door open “Mira!” Jongdae’s voice snapped.
“Mira!” Baekhyun’s joined as I heard them slipping their shoes off before running up the stairs and then a soft knock at the door “Mira open the door please.”
“Guys,” My dad snapped from the other side of the hall “I’m on the phone.”
“Dad, get her to open the door,” Jongdae urged “I need to talk to her. Please.”
“Sorry,” My dad apologized “Yes mom, that’s Jongdae. No he’s not coming.”
“Going where?” Jongdae asked “Dad where are you going?”
“I’m sorry mom just give me a moment,” My dad heaved a long
