The Jung's Lair

Breaking Boundaries

Krystal’s POV

“We are but mere actors and the world is our stage. We are but mere soldiers and the world is our battlefield. We are—damn it! Why is that llama not even texting me goodnight?!”

It was almost 1am and I was still memorizing my piece for my oral communication class but I couldn’t concentrate, checking my phone from time to time, waiting for that stupid llama’s reply. We were exchanging sweet messages earlier and the last one she sent was during dinner time. I couldn’t help but wonder what Amber’s up to since it was Friday night. Should I just sneak into her apartment tonight? *evil laugh*

Maybe she’s studying?

No! She can’t be studying on a Friday night!

But you are!

I’m not studying, I’m practicing my lines!

Maybe she’s hanging out with her friends?

Then she should have told me!

Maybe it’s an exclusive night out again?

WHAT?! THAT STUPID DORK! YOU’RE SO DEAD, YOU LLAMA!

The thought of Amber kissing another girl made me want to fly all the way to where she was and kill the b*tch who dared touching my property. I changed my clothes before going out of my room to sneak out of the house and check Amber. But I was startled when I heard something.

“Love means never having to say you’re sorry.” The television in the living room was on. It was Jang Geun Suk’s Love Rain episode replay. Maybe unnie forgot to turn it off. But I was surprised to see two girls sitting on the couch; one was my sister and the other was...

“Yuri unnie?” she turned to see me and she was Amber’s roommate indeed.

“Ssshhh. You’re sister is sleeping,” she mouthed, pointing my sleeping unnie whose head was resting on Yuri unnie’s shoulder.  I couldn’t help but smile widely at the scene. Nice one, Yuri unnie.

She gestured her hand and talked like she was mute, afraid that she might wake my sister but I couldn’t understand anything.

“Just talk. I’m in a hurry, Yuri unnie,” I told her impatiently. I had to find Amber before she ends up in bed with anyone. Just try doing it with someone else, Amber Liu. I’ll bury you both alive!

“Where are you going? It’s dangerous outside,” she told me in her softest voice.

“I’ll just check Amber if she’s home. It’s Friday night unnie, the llama might had escaped from her cage again with those wild animals,” I replied, referring Amber’s friends as the wild animals.

“She’s probably sleeping, Krys. Just go to sleep too,” Yuri said without looking at me while she caressed my sister’s hair instead.

Aigoo. I didn’t know that Yuri unnie could be so sweet. I hope my sister falls in love with her soon. Or she just did and that’s why they’re together? Yay!

“But are you and unnie together last night?” I as I sat on the couch just right across the sweet looking ‘couple’, purely dismissing the idea of sneaking to Amber’s apartment.

“Yeah, we worked in the lab then ate dinner together,” she told me, blushing.

“Did you just date??” I asked out of excitement while Yuri unnie’s face became redder and she nodded slowly. “That’s great! Where did you go? What did you do? Did you confess your feelings? You should have kissed her on the cheek at least,” I told her, making her face as red as a Fuji apple.

“Y-Yes, I confessed,” she told me shyly. “But she slapped me four times.”

“Yah, you should exert some effort first. Do you think my unnie will fall for you that easy?” I advised her, containing my laugh at her cherry face.

“Then what did Amber do that you fell in love with her?” she asked me innocently. Her question made me blush this time.

“Well, Amber didn’t do that much. Actually, I think I fell in love with her first,” I replied sheepishly and buried my burning face on the cushion. Aish. This is embarrassing, why did I ask her that.

“Ah. So you saw Amber first? She told me she fell in love with you the moment you first saw each other at Sung Jin.” Yuri unnie’s revelation made me throw the cushion away.

“Seriously, unnie? Then we fell in love at the same time!” I exclaimed happily at the new knowledge I gained form Yuri unnie. Aigoo. She really helps me a lot. Now it’s time for me to return the favour. “Unnie, my sister likes someone who’s innocent. You better keep that naughty side of yours.”

We shared more stories and advices towards each other that we didn’t notice how three hours had gone so fast. Our little in-laws talk came to an end when Jessica unnie slowly moved and woke up.

At the same time, my phone beeped and I received a message from Amber.

From Amber:

Baby, have a goodnight sleep and dream of me. I love you. :*

What time is it, Amber Liu?! How can you just text me goodnight when it’s already 4am?!

And I didn’t hesitate to dial her number to greet her ‘good morning’ in my own way.

Amber’s POV

“Baby, you woke up early?” I answered in the sweetest tone that I could pull off, slightly putting away the mobile phone from my ear. I really didn’t expect that Krystal would be up so early on a Saturday morning. Did she wait for me? Oh I’m so dead.

“I HAVEN’T SLEEP WAITING FOR YOUR CALL, YOU IDIOT! WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!” she yelled form the other line. “What, unnie? She’s with whom?” I heard her say but she seemed like she was talking to her sister.

Oh no, I have to buy my own coffin now.

“AMBER LIU, ARE YOU REALLY WITH KIM JI WON RIGHT NOW? ARE YOU CHEATING ON ME?”

“I’m not cheating on you, Krys. I’m in the hospital right now,” I replied calmly, telling the truth.

“What? Are you hurt, babe? Tell me where you are so I can come over,” she asked me in a worried tone. Krystal Jung could really transform from a jealous monster to caring girlfriend. But whatever side she shows, she never fails to make me feel how much she loves me.

“No, I’m fine. I brought Ji Won here, she got a heart attack while—

“WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER THAT SHE GOT A HEART ATTACK??”

“We just talked, Krys! What the hell are you thinking just now?!”

“Nothing. Come over for breakfast,” she told me in calm tone this time. Come over where? Their home? Oh no no no. Her scary sister might kill me.

“Uh, baby. I don’t think it’s a good idea,” I answered.

“Hey dork! Unit 303! You better come over here or I really won’t let you date my sister!” Jessica-shi? Aish. These Jungs are really making me go crazy!

“Yes, noona. But can I come over with Minho?” I replied, entirely defeated by her blackmailing.

“You better not bring someone as your shield, Amber Liu,” Jessica said before hanging up.

Those creepy Jungs. *sigh*

“I think I need to go, bro. Please look after Ji Won for me,” I told Minho as I stood up.

“Okay. But where are you going, Am?”

“To hell.”

Going alone to the scary Jung’s lair was like committing suicide. I couldn’t imagine how I brought myself in their front doors like I was the one who asked them to eat me up alive. Krystal probably knew by now what happened at Tresto in Yuri and Jessie’s presence. Just tell Krystal everything, Amber. You don’t need to lie about it.

*ding dong* I rang the doorbell with my trembling hand and tucked it back in my pocket. The door opened seconds later, revealing the blonde ice princess. I gulped when I met her trademark glare and raised her eyebrow on me.

“G-Good morning, noona,” I greeted, trying to hide my voice full of fear, and gave her a deep bow to pay some respect. Though she’s my friend at the same time, she’s still my girlfriend’s sister.

“You came so fast. Afraid that I won’t let you date my sister?” It supposed to sound like a tease but her jealousy was still evident. “Get in, don’t make her wait.”

As soon as I reached their living room, my face met a cushion already. It was Krystal who threw one at me. “I knew you were doing something fishy something behind my back!” She threw me another one. “You met her without telling me?!” And another one. “Stupid, Amber Liu! Do you really not care about your girlfriend?!” Another cushion.

Aish. How many cushions do they have?

I knew exactly what could make her shut up but as if I could grab and kiss her in front of Jessie noona; Krystal said that we should be considerate of her sister’s feelings but she didn’t seem to notice her actions were too much. Without word, I sat on the couch across her and beside Jessie.

“What? You’re not going to sit beside me?!” Krystal crossed her arms and glared at me.

“Shut up or I’ll lock you up in your room!” Jessica snapped at her as they exchange the Jung’s signature glares. But my Krystal seemed to be defeated and looked away first.

“Coffee, anyone?” I was surprised to hear that familiar naughty voice behind an innocent tone. And there was my former roommate, Kwon Yuri, a white apron on her waist, holding a tray with four cups of coffee. “I see you rushed here even if it’s dawn, Am? Guilty of what you did last night?” she teased me with a grin before settling beside Krystal.

“Shut up. And when did you start working as the Jung’s maid, Yul?” I scowled as I felt my girlfriend’s deadly looks at me. Maybe this ert spilled to the Jung sisters the thing about me and Ji Won years ago. And maybe she influenced Krystal’s mind with those byuntaeYul thoughts too. Aish.

“Stop it you guys!” Jessica yelled, making both Yuri and I behave on our seats. “Krystal, help Yuri-shi prepare breakfast,” she turned to her sister who seemed to be overly annoyed then turned to me. “And you, we’ll talk in the balcony,” she ordered me.

“Unnie, are you taking Amber for yourself?!” Krystal hissed at her sister. Please oh please, save me, baby. Don’t let your sister kill me.

“Don’t be such a brat; I’m doing this for your own sake. Dork, in the balcony, NOW!” And she took her mug of coffee before marching towards the balcony.

“Do you really want me to get killed by your sister?” I told Krystal as soon as Jessica was out of sight.

“You deserve to be killed, stupid!” she replied, turning away her face full of annoyance right now.

“Babe, don’t be mad. We’ll talk about it, okay?” I cupped her cheeks before planting a quick kiss on her addicting soft lips. “See you later.”

“Kill you later.”

“Creepy Jung.”

“Stupid Liu.”

Cute way of addressing each other right?

Jessica’s POV

I was fuming last night because of Kim Ji Won’s confession but I didn’t know why my head cooled so fast. Could it be because of Kwon Yuri-shi’s confession? Aish. It can’t be. But I admit I liked her kiss; it gave me a fuzzy fizzy feeling inside even though it was just a childish peck.

The dorky Amber Liu just came to the balcony with her own mug of coffee. I summoned her so we could continue the interrupted talk last night and confront her about Ji Won at the same time. But no, I wasn’t doing it for myself but for my sister instead. I just had to push my remaining feelings away for this dork and maybe open my heart to someone else. Like Kwon Yuri. Aish! Jessica Jung, did you just think of Kwon Yuri twice just now?

“Noona,” Amber called and smiled at me with that dorky smile of hers, the same smile that I fell for once, the same smile that Yuri-shi would make me forget. Seriously, Jung Soo Yeon! It’s thrice already for heaven’s sake!

“Amber Liu, finally, we’re alone,” I told her in the creepiest voice that I could pull off. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw her nervous expression. “Yah, why didn’t you tell me that you liked my sister? When did you start liking her?” I asked her in a calmer way this time, trying my best to hide even the tiniest amount of jealousy inside me. Amber seemed to be relieved in my new tone.

“I’m sorry, noona. I didn’t know that you’re sisters before and just found it before my accident,” Amber answered politely. “And I started to like her when I first laid my eyes on her in Sung Jin.”

“Okay.” I didn’t know why but it seemed like I got tongue-tied already after the first question though I had tons of question to ask.

“Noona, I’m sorry if uhmm how do I say this,” Amber looked hesitant to continue what she was saying and I was so sure that it had something to do with my feelings for her.

“Amber, it’s nothing. My sister’s happiness is my happiness too,” I blurted out half-heartedly, I was left with no choice anyway.

“Are you sure you’re okay with it, noona?” she asked me and I just nodded slowly without meeting her eyes. It still sent a hundred of flying daggers towards my heart though. But at least it’s better than the thousand ones before, right?

“But don’t you dare hurting my baby sister or else, I will pulverize your bones into gunpowder and use it to shoot your brain out of your head and donate it to the psychology department. Do you understand?” I threatened her.

“Y-Yeah, I-I promise,” she replied with a fearful nod.

“Good. Then I’ll give you my blessing.” I’m letting go of you, Amber.

Amber’s wide eyes widened even more when she heard me and started bowing deeply several times. “Thank you, noona!” *bow* “I’m really really thankful!” *bow* “I promise I won’t hurt Krystal!” *bow* “I’ll die if I hurt her!” *bow*

You’re really lucky with this dork, baby sis. I wonder who will love me the way Amber loves you.

“Kwon Yuri,” Amber blurted out suddenly.

“What?! Are you reading my mind right now, Amber Liu?!” I glared at her mention of Kwon Yuri.

“Huh? I said the coffee made by Kwon Yuri tastes awesome,” she replied before sipping her mug of coffee. Aish. Jessica Jung, stop spacing out. “But noona, were you just thinking of Yuri just now?”

“Yah, I’m not thinking about her!” I defended. The dork was smiling like an idiot in front of me.”Amber Liu, stop smiling like that if you don’t want me to pour this coffee on you!” I scolded her attempting to pour her some coffee.

“No! No! I was just kidding!” Amber immediately denied when I almost poured the hot coffee on her head. “But seriously, noona, you look good together. And I was happy to see you on a date last night,” the dork told me in a serious tone this time.

And my mind automatically recalled every single thing that happened last night from the lab, the restobar, the kiss, the kiss, the kiss... Aish why did I stop there?!

“It looks like Yuri got some progress already,” Amber kidded that it pulled me out of my crazy thoughts. Her smile at me this time contained something behind it.

“You shouldn’t smile like that, Amber Liu. My sister’s gonna kill you later for sure,” I said before leaving the dork behind.

What progress is she talking about anyway?

Yuri’s POV

I didn’t know that confessing my feelings would earn me four straight slaps. My face still hurts like it was ironed on both sides. But I didn’t regret being confessing and being slapped by my princess since she treated me even better after that. And I even got to spend the night in her castle!

“What are those two talking about?! Why are they taking so long?!” Krystal grumbled as she cut the onions roughly. I could see a ‘jealous girlfriend’ placard above her. Well, she had every right to be jealous since her sister has some feelings for Amber.

“Krystal, ten minutes hasn’t passed yet and you’re already whining there. Your sister might be scolding Amber for meeting Kim Ji Won behind your back,” I tried to calm her down as I cooked Spanish omelette. Krystal seemed to be more agitated by my mention of her rival’s name that she sliced the onions even more roughly.

“AW!”

I immediately turned to Krystal who accidentally cut her finger, blood dripping from her finger.

“Be careful with the knife, dongsaeng,” I told her as I washed her finger on the kitchen sink.

“You shouldn’t have mentioned her name, Yuri unnie. And who is she really?! I thought she’s just Amber’s friend! Why do they have to meet behind my back?” The little princess Jung just turned into a fire-breathing dragon and I knew Amber would be in trouble.

“Well, maybe because you don’t have to know it. And they need to settle some unfinished business before. But don’t worry, I’m sure Amber’s not cheating on you,” I assured her.

“But who is that Kim Ji Won really?!” she snapped at me, giving me that trademark icy glare.

“Y-Yah, I-I’m not the one who should be telling you about her. A-Ask Amber instead,” I replied, trying my best to withstand her glare.

“Whatever! I won’t help you with my sister anymore!” And she marched out of the kitchen.

I prepared the breakfast and set the table all by myself. I’m not the Jung’s maid, Amber. I’m just Princess Jessica’s servant. Speaking of the princess, she just marched in back from the balcony followed by the Amber who seemed containing her laugh. It looked like the two had a fun conversation outside. I wonder what they talked about.

“Jessica-shi, you must be starving. Sit here,” I told her in full courage as I pulled out a chair for her.

“Thank you.” I was relieved when she replied with that heart melting smile. “Where’s Krystal?”

“I’m here, unnie,” Krystal said as she stomped out of her room and sat across Amber.

“Did you hurt your finger? Let me see,” Amber told her girlfriend in a worried tone as she examined Krystal’s finger while the latter withdrew her finger immediately and frowned at Amber. Maybe she’s still jealous.

“Yah, stop flirting and eat first,” Jessica told them and we started eating the breakfast I prepared. “Yuri-shi, the omelette tastes good,” she told and I contained a smile inside. Omo! She praised me!

“Try these grilled bacons, Jessica-shi,” I told her and put some bacon strips on her plate. Wait, did she just smile at my gesture? Woohoo!

Amber seemed to be alerted by my gesture that she did the same. “Do you want grilled bacons too, babe?” she asked Krystal who was frowning while eating.

“I want grilled llama instead,” the little Jung uttered coldly. You want grilled Amber for breakfast, huh? I tried to contain my laugh as erted thoughts started poisoning my mind.

“How can you grill the llama without killing it first?” my Jessica said all of a sudden making both Amber and I turned to her fearfully. Aigoo. These sisters must be crazy!

“Oh right, I really have to do that,” Krystal said, eyeing Amber intently as she continued eating everything on her plate. My dinosaur friend looked so nervous right now as if she didn’t expect it. You’re so dead, Ambro! You really got a scary girlfriend there.

“Amber Liu, you and me, IN MY ROOM!” Krystal ordered and I saw how Amber facepalmed and followed her girlfriend who marched inside the room.

“Goodluck, Ambro! Please come out alive!” I yelled teasingly but I was surprised when Jessica suddenly shouted at me.

“Kwon Yuri, you and me, IN THE KITCHEN!”

Oh my, I might really get a scary girlfriend too.
