Author's Note: I wrote another Jessber chapter and they're moments before Amber's Busan trip.

Amber’s POV

The night I spent with Krystal was incredibly awesome. I never knew that sleeping in your loved one’s arms would feel that great and seeing her the moment you woke up made it even better. My princess cooked breakfast for me too. Though Jessica-shi was more of a good cook than Krystal, I still ate everything that my dear princess prepared for me.

Speaking of Jessica-shi, I thought of asking her out for dinner to spend some time with her as friends and also to tell her that I would leave for Busan this weekend. I sneaked to send her a message during my afternoon physical chem lab class.

To Jessica-shi:

Boss, do we have to work tonight?

*beep* I received a message immediately but it was from Krystal.

From Krystal-shi:

Baby, I’m going to Incheon Fair tonight with my friends. Text me when you got home. I love you. :*

I was actually disappointed by the fact that Krystal wanted to be with her friends more than me. Well, there’s nothing you can do, Amber. You’re not her boyfriend anyway. Plus the cold harsh truth that she didn’t want to be seen with you. -.-

Jessica’s POV

Why did you kiss me for the second time, Amber? My handsome assistant’s face kept popping up inside my mind even during the thesis seminar that I attended the next day. My body and soul was in the convention hall but my mind and heart was somewhere at the Institute of Chemistry building. I missed that dork Amber Liu already. -.- I decided to send her a message to meet me at the lab tonight but I was surprised when I received a message from her first.

From Amber Liu:

Boss, do we have to work tonight?

Is she going to ask for a day-off?! Not now, Amber! I want to see you soon!

To Amber Liu:

Yes. We’ll work on buffer solutions. Why?

I hope Amber won’t go anywhere tonight. :(

But my heart leapt after reading her next reply.

From Amber Liu:

Maybe we can forget work for a while and hang out? :D

ASDJABDJBASJDKASKJDL Amber Liu just asked me out! Yay!

My heart jumped when the seminar finally ended as thoughts of Amber and our date tonight thrilled me.  Two more hours and I would be with Amber. But I was shocked when I saw my handsome assistant who just moved to live inside my mind was outside the convention hall and waved at me with her dorky smile when she saw me.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him in a tone of disbelief.

“Waiting for my beautiful boss of course,” she told me and I felt my cheeks became warm. “Let me bring your things, Ma’am.” My gentleman assistant took my file case and brought it.

Why is Amber so early? It’s only 4pm. “Yah, are you slacking right now? You have a 4-6pm class, don’t you?” I told her as I walked next to her.

“My professor in that subject is attending a seminar overseas,” she replied with her heart-melting smile as she was swinging her arms holding my file case.

What happened to Amber’s lips? “Amber, your lips are swollen.”

I saw how Amber’s face reddened when I told her that. “Uhmm. I accidentally bit my lip when I fell off the bed last night.”

Really, stupid dork? Some girl didn’t bite your lips when she kissed you, right? Aish. I’ll kill the girl who will do that to you! >.<

But gawd. She looked so handsome in that casual wear. Amber was wearing a yellow three-fourth shirt and black skinny jeans. That’s when I realized that I was wearing the same black-and-yellow motif too but I was wearing a dress instead. We look like a couple, Amber!

“Where do you want to go, Jessica-shi?” she asked me when we reached the campus gate.

Anywhere with you, dork!

“Uhmm. Wherever you want to go,” I simply replied, hiding the feeling of anticipation inside my heart. “Amber, can you stop talking to me formally?” I was really bothered everytime this dork calls me ‘Ma’am’, ‘Boss’ or ‘Jessica-shi’ when I’m only two years her senior.

“Sure, boss. Uh. I mean.. What am I supposed to call you then?” Amber’s puzzled face looked funny that I couldn’t help but laugh. “Wow. You actually know how to laugh too?”

Only when I’m with you. :”>

“Well of course. Do you want me to frown forever?”

“Nah, you’re more beautiful when you laugh, Jessie-noona.”

AGSHGHJKSLAKL She just called me Jessie-noona. Omo! I’m so happy! And did she just say that I’m beautiful? Gawd, Amber. You’re making my heart go dugeun dugeun. >.<

Amber’s POV

Jessica-shi really looked gorgeous when she laughed. Her cold but cute nature made me feel at ease whenever I’m with her. I had no plans for today in my mind actually; I just wanted to hang out with her like what real friends do since Krystal, who is supposed to be with me at a moment like this, is currently busy with her friends somewhere. :(

Jessica and I just enjoyed walking and talking about random things until we unconsciously reached the park near the Han River. Many people especially couples were there that it seemed like there was an event happening.

“Looks like there’s an event or something. Let’s check it out?” I told Jessie who just nodded.

We walked past through the crowd, holding hands. Yes, I held her hand first, afraid that she might get lost. Her hand was so cold that it kept giving me this icy feeling. We were almost in front of the stage and yes, there was actually a program entitled 5^th Annual Seoul Lovers’ Day.

Oh no. We came at the wrong place. -.-

“Another couple here!” a teenage guy in his high school uniform who was standing behind us yelled that caught the attention of a funny looking guy in a tuxedo who I assumed to be the emcee. I was even more shocked when the emcee looked towards our direction and pointed Jessica and me.

“Here comes our last couple wearing their black and yellow theme for tonight! Let’s give them a warm round of applause!” the emcee said and I saw Jessica and me on the screen in front. People started screaming and cheering for us to get on stage where the other couples were standing.

“Noona, they thought we’re a couple,” I whispered to her ear and she just gave me a sweet smile. Seeing the crowd cheered for us left me with no choice. We couldn’t go back either so I pulled Jessica-shi and walked up the stage. Good thing she just played along and didn’t embarrass me.

If Krystal is here with me instead, will she do the same as what Jessica did? Hayy.

“Our first game is newspaper dance. I assume everyone knows this game well so I don’t think there’s still a need to explain the mechanics,” the emcee said as Jessie and I lined up with six more couples on stage. “Let the battle begin! DJ, turn the music on!”

They played some dance music and the other couples started dancing like crazy. “Amber, what will we do?” Jessica asked me with her cold worried eyes like she didn’t really know what to do. Aw. My clever boss suddenly didn’t know what to do. How cute.

“Just dance when the music is on and leave the rest to me,” I assured her. She just gave me her cold smile and started to dance with me too. When the music was turned off, I stepped on the small piece of newspaper, only big enough for my foot and lifted my boss like a bride without hesitation. She was surprised that she wrapped her arms around me. The feeling of her ice cold hands around my neck sent shiver down my spine.

“Yah, put me down, Amber!” she told me as she gave me her trademark icy glare.

However, she was frozen when I looked at her straight in the eyes and said, “Sorry, noona but we need to win, okay? I’m a competitive person and I don’t want to lose to these bunch of highschool kids.” I decided to take the game seriously and just hoped Jessie would play along too.

Having a temporary girlfriend feels good though.

Jessica’s POV

If playing in this stupid lovers’ game would always keep me this close to Amber, then I wouldn’t mind playing with her forever. Amber lifted me like I was her bride and we made it through the newspaper dance round where two couples were eliminated. The dork told me that she would like to win the game. How silly. But my heart fluttered as we continued to act like a real couple.

The next game made Amber and me nervous since it was really a game for couples. The emcee would ask a question and both of you had to write the same answer without talking to each other.

“Let’s see if these young couples really know each other well. First question requires exact details. Where did you first meet your partner?” the emcee asked.

Aish. What an easy question. I wrote ‘Institute of Chemistry building, Seoul University’.

*ting ting ting*

“Ok, flash your answers,” the emcee said. “Couple one got them wrong, how did you guys got wrong? Are you a real couple? Haha! Ok, the rest were right.”

I was delighted to see Amber’s answer ‘in front of Institute of Chemistry building’ written on her blackboard. The dork smiled at me widely and gave me two thumbs up. Oh, Amber. If you’re acting like my boyfriend now, shall I act like your girlfriend too?

“This question is for the girls to answer. Besides you, what else does your boyfriend love?” the emcee announced. I saw Amber wrote something on her blackboard.

Now we’re doomed! What else does this dork love?

I couldn’t think of anything else so I wrote ‘chemistry’ instead.

*ting ting ting*

Everyone flashed their answers and *poof* Amber wrote ‘Chemistry’ on her blackboard too! We exchange meaningful smiles again as two more couples were eliminated from the next round.

“We only have two beautiful couples left, everyone! Our next question is for the guys. This one is pretty hard and girls, this question will prove if your boyfriend is loyal to you,” said the emcee that it made me worried. What if Amber failed to answer that question? Then I will be disappointed with her for sure! “When is your anniversary?”

My eyes got wide after hearing the question. How the hell can we have an anniversary when we’re not even a couple yet?! Aish. What to do, Jessica Jung? In the end, I just wrote the date today ‘Aug.28’. Game over, Amber. We’re not a real couple after all.

Amber’s POV

I saw how worried Jessie was when she wrote the answer on her board. The question was really difficult for us since we’re really not a couple in the first place. I was left with no choice but to write the date today ‘August 28’ on my blackboard and gave up no matter how much I wanted to win.

*ting ting ting*

I covered my eyes and prepared myself for a bitter defeat as well as my shattered pride.

“We have a winner! Couple number 7 wins the grand prize for the 5^th Annual Seoul Lovers’ Day!”

Seven? Aren’t we couple number seven?

“You idiot! Our anniversary isn’t November 6! Are you cheating on me?!” I heard the girl from the other pair yelled while hitting her boyfriend violently.

“Please join us at the centre stage, couple number seven!” the host patted my shoulder and I saw Jessica’s gorgeous face with the expression of disbelief. The emcee walked towards her too and brought us together at the centre. “Everyone, let’s give this young couple a big round of applause and congratulate them since it’s their anniversary today too!”

It’s not our anniversary, ahjussi. -.-

Jessica and I just bowed awkwardly in front of the audience. I really didn’t have any idea what’s in my boss’s mind right now but I hope she wouldn’t fire me after this. They awarded us gift packs from Etude and Shin Ramyun, gift certificates from Lotte Department Store, two tickets for Lotte Cinema and a pair of silver couple rings. Everything was too surreal for me and Jessica.

It would be great if Krystal is here with me instead. -.-

“Hey, lovers! Let’s take your picture!” a highschool girl with a Polaroid camera approached us at the backstage. I looked at Jessica, asking for permission and she just nodded in return. We smiled awkwardly at the camera and posed with peace sign together. And *snap*.

“One more shot, oppa. You must hug unnie!” I didn’t know why I listened to that stupid girl’s request and wrapped my arms around Jessica with my cheek touching hers and smiled at the camera. *snap* “Here, oppa. Happy anniversary to you and to this beautiful unnie!” she said and gave us the two Polaroid shots before she left.

“You look like a loving boyfriend here, Amber,” Jessica told me as we looked at our pictures while walking at the park together. Her compliment made me blush.

“You could be a loving girlfriend too, Jessie-noona,” I told her. It wasn’t a lie after all, any guy would be lucky to have Jessica as a girlfriend. Even I who just acted like her boyfriend for a while felt that she could be a good girlfriend for real.

“Amber,” she called me and I immediately turned to her. “Thank you for tonight.” And I felt her soft sweet lips on mine. It only lasted for a second but the feeling was somehow familiar, like being kissed by your first crush.

“J-j-jessica-shi,” I stuttered when she parted her lips and walked away.

Jessica’s POV

Everything that happened between me and Amber tonight felt like a dream. We were like an ordinary couple who dated at the park, joined some couple games and looked at our couple picture together. I never felt so happy before that I couldn’t stop myself anymore and kissed Amber on the lips. Her lips were really addicting so I pulled off before I start to lose my senses.

“Noona, wait!” I heard Amber called me when I walked away from her. I was surprised when she suddenly pulled my wrist and made me face her. “Wear this until you find yourself a boyfriend,” Amber said as she slipped a silver ring on my finger. It was the couple ring we received from the contest. She smiled at me with her sweetest heart-melting smile and showed me her hand. Amber was wearing the same ring too!

“A-amber.” I got tongue-tied by her sweet gesture.

“Thank you for everything, Jessica-shi. You have no idea how grateful I am to you,” my handsome assistant told me and surprised me by wrapping her arms around me tightly. “I’m leaving for Busan this weekend. Take care of yourself, ok?”

“W-why are you going to Busan?” I asked her with my voice shaking. Is she going to leave me? You can’t do that, Amber. I’ll be lonely without you.

“I have to attend ChemCon Asia at Busan National University on Saturday. But don’t worry, my roommate will assist you instead while I’m gone,” she said as she pulled off from our hug and gazed at me with her sparkling eyes under the moonlight. “I’ll make it up to you starting on Monday when I return, I promise.”

Amber’s assurance that she would return lifted the burden off my heart. I wouldn’t mind if she goes away for a while since it’s for academic purpose. “Just be sure that you’ll return,” I said.

“Don’t worry, noona. I’ll return for sure.” My dork assistant just smiled at me again and awakened the sleeping butterflies in my stomach. “Anyway, which among these pictures do you want to take?” she asked and showed me the two Polaroid pictures we had earlier.

“I’ll take this,” I replied and chose the picture of Amber hugging me.

This picture will always remind me of the happiest day of my life.
