Krystal’s POV

*ring*

I woke up with an incoming call from Key.

“It’s midnight Key, what do you want?!” I told him impatiently. Seriously, what’s this guy up to?

“Oh, are you asleep already?” he said from the other line, his voice was odd though. It sounded like he wasn’t feeling well.

“Yes! And you disturbed it!” I yelled at him.

“Sorry, Krys. I’m just going to ask Amber’s number. Minho isn’t picking up so I called you.”

I was awaken by Key’s mention of Amber. “I’ll send it to you. But what’s with your voice Key? Are you sick?” I asked him.

“I just don’t feel good. Send me Amber’s number asap, ok? Bye.” Then he hung up.

What’s wrong with Key? And how did he know that I have Amber’s number? I checked my phone and found two missed calls from Amber around 5pm. The llama felt guilty for ditching me, huh?

To Key:

*attached contact*

There. Why do you need her number anyway?

Key replied quickly.

From Key:

I’ll just check if she’s ok.

What happened to Amber? I got worried after reading Key’s reply so I immediately called him back.

“Yah, Kim Ki Bum! What happened to Amber?” I told him when he picked up.

“Geez, Krys. Don’t yell,” Key answered. “Amber and I drank ‘til we passed out this afternoon.”

AHGGJAHSKJKJSLAKLJSK! THAT LLAMA DITCHED ME JUST TO DRINK????

“So what happened?”

“Sulli picked me up; she said the pojangmacha ahjumma called her. She brought me home first then went back to pick Amber up but she wasn’t there anymore. Someone picked her up before Sulli.”

So that’s why I got two missed calls from Amber’s number. Aish. You should have picked her up if only you were attentive with your phone, Krystal Jung!  But the llama ditched me! I should stop being concerned about her too much. >.<

“How did you know that I have Amber’s number?” I asked him. My heart jumped at the idea that Amber probably mentioned me to Key.

“I just assumed. You’re friends anyway.” It took quite some time for Key to answer that I suspected that there was something he was keeping from me. “I’ll hang up now, Krys.”

“YAH, KIM KI BUM, I’M NOT DONE WITH YOU YET!” But he really hung up.

Why the hell did you do that, Amber? We should have just skipped the movie and drink at the pojangmacha if that’s what you really wanted. And I couldn’t help but weep over the fact that I was defeated by Amber’s love for soju. I cried over my one-sided crush for Amber until dawn when Jessica unnie came home. She looked tired but happy, humming as she entered our door.

“Unnie!” I ran towards her and hugged her tightly.

“Oh, Krys. Why are you still up?” Unnie pulled from the hug and cupped my cheeks. “Why is my baby Krys crying?” she said and pulled me to sit on the couch together. “Now tell me what’s the problem, Krys. Unnie will listen to you.”

I hesitated to tell her everything; I knew she would freak out if I told her my feelings for Amber. “M-my d-date d-ditched me,” I told my unnie, sobbing on her shoulder.

“Does my baby sis like that guy so much?” she asked me as she my back. I just nodded as a response. Maybe it would be better to let my sister think that Amber is a guy. “That guy had the nerve to ditch his date with my beautiful sister? Don’t date stupid guys like him, Krys.”

You’re right unnie, that llama is really stupid! “It’s our first date as friends, unnie. I really wanted to get to know him,” I told her.

“Does this guy know that you like him?”

I shook my head. Should I really tell Amber that I like her? What if she doesn’t feel the same?

“It’s ok, Krys. It’s the guy’s duty to confess first. Just focus on other things for now, ok? Don’t let this thing affect your studies. You’ll get over him soon.” she told me and gave me a faint smile.

I don’t think I could get over Amber, unnie.

Amber’s POV

My head felt like it was sliced up by a surgeon without anaesthesia when I woke up in my room the next morning. Time check, 6:25 am and I got up immediately. How did I manage to get home?

“Your boss brought you home,” Yuri said in a cold voice like she had read my mind.

“How did my boss find me?” I asked my roommate who was eating a bowl of instant noodles but she didn’t seem to hear. There was a note on the dining table and I couldn’t help but smile as I read it.

I cooked hangover soup and breakfast. Get well. –J. Jung

Under the lid was a plate of ham, sausages, omelette and a bowl of soup all prepared by my thoughtful boss, Jessica Jung. “Yah, Yuri. Stop eating ramyun and eat with me,” I told my roommate.

“I’m okay with ramyun. She prepared that just for you anyway,” Yuri scowled.

Yuri seemed not really in the mood these past few days and I don’t know why. “I see you’re having tantrums lately, my dear roomie. Is there a problem at school? Or with your girlfriends?” I asked her as I swallow a piece of sausage.

“It’s none of your business,” she replied in a flat tone as she digs on her ramyun.

“Tell me, Yul. Maybe I could help. Besides, you helped me find a job. Let me help you in return,” I told her sincerely. I was very thankful to Yuri for that opportunity when I knew that she could take that job for herself.

“Why don’t we just talk about you and you’re two-timing deed yesterday? Going out with someone and going home with a different person,” Yuri said sarcastically that it surprised me.

I got upset when I remembered what happened yesterday. I hope Minho and Krystal had a lot of fun in their date. “I was jerk enough to ditch Krystal yesterday,” I told her with my head down.

“You ditched her to be with your boss alright.”

Yuri was making me more impatient by her sarcastic replies. “Yul, this is not about my boss. I don’t know how she found me yesterday since my friend and I were too drunk. And it’s all because of Krystal! Now stop judging me as a two-timer retard since we both know that I’m not like that!”

“Whatever, Liu. You’re just a sick liar who’s lucky enough to fool two girls at the same time,” she told me before she left for her Saturday make up classes. What Yuri said made me really furious that I lost my appetite.

It was Saturday morning so I decided to go out for a jog. Maybe it would help me clear my mind and calm myself down. That’s too much, Kwon Yuri. You have no idea what I’m going through for you to say those things to me. I was jogging on the park near our campus when I bumped into Key who was jogging too.

“Hey, Ambro. You’re jogging to flush out your hangover too, huh?” Key told me as we jog together.

“Yeah. Damn, we’re too drunk yesterday,” I laughed and told him.

“But why were you not picking up my calls? I was worried when Sulli told me that you were not there anymore when she came back.”

“Oh, my phone was dead when I woke up. And my boss was the one who picked me up,” I told him.

“Woah. Your boss must be too kind.” I just smiled at Key’s comment. “Krystal was so worried about you, bro. I talked to her last night.”

What Key said left me frozen on where I was. Why would Krystal be worried about me?

“Yah, it’s true. I had several missed calls and texts from Krystal, asking me what happened to you,” Key said as he walked back to me.

“Did you tell her what we talked about?” I worriedly ask him. I don’t want Krystal to find out why I didn’t come yesterday.

“Of course not. You can count on me, dude. But for now, I think you should reconsider your feelings for Krystal,” Key said which made my eyebrows wrinkle. “I mean Krystal looks like she cares for you too. She won’t bug me about what happened if she didn’t care.”

What Key said made me laugh but I was actually touched by it. But the happy thought blurred when Minho popped up in my mind suddenly. “Uh. No, I should kill my feelings for her so my bestfriend could be happy with her.”

“Here goes the martyr Amber Liu again. I ship for Kryber, you know, not Minstal. But if that’s what you want, it’s alright. However, if my friend happens to like you, I hope you won’t push her away.” And we jogged until we ran out of breath.

Key and I decided to drop by at Sung Jin for breakfast.

“Noona!” We both ran towards Vic and gave her a big hug.

“Uh, guys. You’re sweaty,” she told us in a disgusted voice but hugged as back too.

“Amber and I went jogging, Noona. You should come with us next time,” Key told her as we walked towards a vacant table.

“Oh sure, Key. What do you want to eat by the way?” Noona asked.

“Bacon and cheese sandwich for me,” said Key. Noona looked at me and I just shook my head.

“Why won’t you eat, Amber? You’re getting thinner,” Vic noona said.

“Someone cooked breakfast for me. I will eat at home,” I just answered with a smile. “Just make a cup of cocoa for me, Vic noona.”

“Did your boss cook for you too?” Key asked which made me elbow him. “Aw. That hurts, Am.”

“I wonder who this boss is. Is it a girl?” Noona teased me. I just forced a smile at her and nodded. “What kind of work are you up to, Amber?”

“Thesis assistant,” I answered.

“Oh. So this boss is a graduating student? Then she’s just two years older than us!” Key exclaimed.

“And so?”

“Amber, if she cooked breakfast for you, maybe she has a crush on you,” Vic noona said which made turn into a tomato.

Victoria’s POV

Amber’s a nice kid but she’s not friendly at all. From what I observed, she only hangs out with her bestfriend Minho. I was glad when Key told me that they went out jogging together and Key seemed to know a lot of things about Amber when he asked if her boss cooked for her too.

I wonder who her thesis boss is since Jessica, Krystal’s older sister, was looking for a thesis assistant too. What if that boss turned out to be Jessica? Oh no, Victoria Song. Don’t think for the worse. Krystal and Amber should realize their budding feelings for each other as soon as possible. And *poof* I saw Krystal coming into the restaurant but the kids were busy talking that they didn’t notice Krystal’s presence.

“Amber, if she cooked breakfast for you, maybe she has a crush on you,” I purposely said it loud enough for Krystal to hear. She was frozen for a while and I saw the change in her eyes.

“Amber, you’re blushing!” Key teased the other kid.

I knew Krystal was about to leave when she heard it but I called her instead as I walked towards her. “Good morning, Krys!”

Key turned to see her and gulped while Amber just lowered her head.

“Good morning, Unnie,” she told me and kissed me on the cheek. Oh no, Krystal looked like she cried for a long time. For what reason did you cry, Krys?

“Uh. Noona, I need to go. I’ll just eat breakfast at home,” Amber said as she stood up and prepared to leave, like she was avoiding Krystal. So something happened between these two?

“Where do you think you’re going, Amber Liu?” I asked her which made her surprised. “I’ll cook breakfast for you so just sit there. And it’s for free. If you dare leaving Sung Jin right now, I won’t let you come back here ever again.” The shocked Amber sat back again as he exchange glances with Key. “C’mon, Krys. I’ll cook for you,” I told Krystal and motioned her to sit beside Key, in front of Amber, before I went to the kitchen.

It’s funny watching the awkwardness between the kids. Key’s quiet gestures and meaningful glances at Amber made me realize that Key knew what happened. I’ll find it out from Key later.
