Amber's Birthday I

Breaking Boundaries

Krystal’s POV

One week. I didn’t know how I survived without seeing Amber that long. The llama didn’t show up after the night that I got drunk that I couldn’t help but wonder if I did something stupid that night. She’s not showing up at Sung Jin and my sister seemed to be in a bad mood lately, maybe because she hasn’t seen Amber too. There’s only one person to ask about that llama and it’s not that stupid bestfriend of hers but her roommate and my future sister-in-law, Yuri unnie.

“Hello? Unnie!” I greeted the moment she picked up my call.

“Krystal,” she replied in a soft voice. “I’m in class right now. What do you want?”

“Well I’m in class too. I want Amber. It’s been a week, unnie. Where the hell is she?” I whispered back as I lowered my head under my desk before my professor notice me.

“Here with me in class. Why?”

“I’ll drop by and sit in. Where is your room by the way?” I asked. Finally, I could see Amber after a week-long agony! Damn it, Krystal Jung. Why didn’t you think of finding her classes earlier?! Stupid.

“Krystal, it’s not a good time to drop by. We’re in the middle of a crucial lecture right now. And there’s no vacant seat here.”

“My unnie is having her late lunch alone at the IBS cafe right now.” I haggled, I knew Yuri unnie’s weakness was my own sister.

And I couldn’t help but smile when I heard the answer that I wanted. “Chem Institute Lecture Hall A. Meet me outside.” Then she hung up. I sneaked out of my own class and met Yuri unnie who was patiently waiting outside their lecture hall. “Amber’s sitting in front of me. Don’t bother her too much; she had lots of catching up to do.”

“Okay okay. Just go. If she’s not in the cafeteria anymore, then she’s probably in the IBS library. Don’t bother her while reading,” I warned her the last time before sneaking inside the hall and sat on the vacant seat. I couldn’t be any happier when I saw my handsome llama really sitting in front of me. Gawd. How can I thank Yuri unnie?

Amber listening seriously to her professor reminded me of how she looked like during the seminar in Busan. I tried to listen too so I could write down some notes for Yuri unnie but I really couldn’t understand anything. Aish, why did you guys have to take such a difficult course?!

“Now get one whole sheet of paper and answer this question with your partner,” the professor said, making everyone gasp at the surprise quiz, including me. Yuri, unnie! Ottoke?

“Yul, solve for the—Krystal? What are you doing here?” A surprised expression drew all over Amber’s face when she turned around and saw me instead of Yuri unnie. It took some time for her to recover from shock. “Aish, where is that slacker again?”

“Answer the question first before time runs out,” I warned her and she started scribbling down the solution on a piece of paper. Just in time before the bell rings, the llama managed to come up with the answer and passed the paper.

“Now answer my question, what are you doing here?” she asked without looking while shoving her things inside her bag, preparing to leave.

“I’m sitting in for Yuri unnie,” I simply replied and just watched her. But Amber looked like she didn’t like my presence and started walking away. “Amber, wait! Where are you going?” I stood up and followed her out of the lecture hall.

“I’m going home,” she answered as we walked through the crowd.

“Already? Don’t you have class?” I asked, I knew the llama was just getting rid of me.

“I’m not feeling well.”

“I’ll take you home then. I’ll drop Yuri unnie’s things too.”

“No, thanks. I don’t live there anymore.” I was surprised when the llama told me that. Why did she move out? Did she fight with Yuri unnie?

“Why did you move out? Where do you live now?” I asked her but she didn’t reply and just continued walking, faster this time. My phone rang while I was trying to catch up with Amber.

*ring* It was Vic unnie.

“Yoboseyo,” I answered in panting voice.

“Krystal, drop by here at Sung Jin asap. It’s urgent,” she told me before she hung up. Aish, what the hell was that?! Thanks to her call, I lost Amber. I went to Sung Jin half-heartedly and found Key and Sulli flocking around Vic unnie’s laptop.

“You should do that part, Ssul. Then I’ll do the rap part,” I heard Key told them.

“What are you guys into?” I took a peek at what they were watching and it was SNSD! “When did you start watching those girls?” I scowled. And when I saw that penguin Sunny on the screen, I got irritated that I folded the laptop screen.

“Yah, you should watch Sunny’s part. You’re going to do her part, Krys,” Kim Ki Bum told me. I just smirked at the diva’s silly idea.

“Good thing that you’re already here, Krystal dear. We can start practicing now,” Vic unnie came from the kitchen and sat beside us. I just gave her a puzzling look at her mention of practicing. “We’re throwing a birthday surprise for Amber tonight.”

Birthday surprise? Is it Amber’s birthday today?

“What? Don’t you know that it’s her birthday?” Key asked then facepalmed when I shook my head.

Stupid Krystal Jung. How can you not know that? -.-

Amber’s POV

I tried my best to avoid Krystal so I could forget about her completely. I moved out of our dorm so I could forget the times I spent there with Krystal, erased her phone number so I could not contact her anymore, and stopped dropping by at Sung Jin so I couldn’t see her face that constantly make my heart beat so fast. But all my efforts were wasted when I surprisingly found Krystal Jung sitting behind me during my biochemistry class, replacing Kwon Yuri who was supposed to be there.

I was anticipating that maybe she purposely sneaked in there to be with me on this special day but I just got disappointed when she didn’t even greet me. Aish, do you think you’re that important to her, Amber Liu? The thought made me decided to push her away even more.

I skipped my last class and just went home to my apartment. I weakly jumped on my bed and laid there wide awake. Krystal, how can you not know that it’s my birthday today? Do you really not care about me? I just sighed at the sad thought.

*ring* It was Donghae hyung.

“Yes, hyung?” I lazily answered.

“Happy birthday, dongsaeng!” he greeted me with a joyful voice. “What are your plans for tonight, bro? Shall we go clubbing then?”

“Thanks. Uh, got no plans yet, hyung.” Actually I had no plans celebrating with anyone but Krystal. However, we’re no longer a couple anymore.

“Let’s grab some soju at least. How about we sing our hearts out? There’s a newly opened pub with noraebang near the campus called Rally Point.” Donghae hyung looked like he wouldn’t give up on me that I just decided to go with his idea. “And Amber, make it exclusively for the guys. Let’s hook up with some girls tonight, okay?”

“Okay, I’ll tell the guys. I’ll call you later.” Then I hung up. Maybe celebrating with the guys won’t hurt. And maybe I’ll hook up with someone better than Krystal tonight.

To Minho, Key, Taemin, Donghae hyung:

Boys’ night out everyone! Rally point, 7pm. See ya’ll.

And at exactly 7pm, I met Minho, Taemin and Donghae at Rally Point. All of them greeted me with a bro hug. Now where’s Kim Ki Bum? Does he consider himself as a girl? We went inside the KTV room that the guys had already booked and ordered buckets of beer and soju.

“Everyone, let’s start by an opening toast for this dinosaur first,” Donghae hyung told us as he poured four glasses of beer and gave to each of us. “Happy 21st birthday, Ambro! Cheers!”

“Cheers!” And we started drinking like there’s no tomorrow. It took only an hour for the four of us to empty two buckets of beer.

“Hyung, bring the girls in!” Minho told Donghae hyung excitedly. That’s when hyung opened the door and four smoking hot girls entered the room. I just let the guys chose whoever they want and settled with whoever would be left. But I didn’t know that the most attractive among them would come to me. The girl with sharp eyes and luscious red lips was wearing a black top with damn low neckline. The other girls were fine but this girl was incredibly hot.

“Hey there, baby,” she told me and sat beside me, slightly touching my lap, giving me goosebumps.

“Hey,” I replied shyly. I actually didn’t know how to flirt and hook up. “I’m Amber. And you are?”

Her beautiful face moved closer to mine, her lips found their way behind my ear as she gently caressed my thigh. “Nice to meet you, Amber. I’m  Jiyeon.”I found her voice so y but Krystal’s was much ier than that. Aish, Amber. Stop thinking about her and enjoy Jiyeon’s company!

Jiyeon and I just shared glasses of beers as we talked about random stuffs like school and our hobbies as the other guys enjoyed their own companies. Taemin’s partner was dancing ily on his lap; Minho and some girl called Ga In were gently caressing each other on their seats while Donghae hyung was kissing his girl on the other side of the table. I couldn’t help but gulp at the sight of these guys; I really had no ability to flirt like that.

“Do you have a girlfriend, Amber?” Jiyeon asked me, flashing that seductive smile of hers.

“Uhmm. No, I don’t have one,” I replied. It’s technically the truth anyway.

“Hmm. Why don’t we just have fun like the others?” Jiyeon pulled my tie to bring my face closer to hers and whispered as her lips slightly brushing with mine.

The next thing I knew she was sitting on my lap and we were French kissing each other. Jiyeon was one hell of a good kisser that I enjoyed the feeling of her lips on mine. We both got carried away and ended up falling on the couch with her on top of me and we continued the kiss.

Everyone seemed to be taking their flirting to the next level when suddenly the door flew open, startling all of us.

“Get off them, you b*tches!” It was Kim Ki Bum who ruined the moment.

I thought it was just that diva who came but the door also revealed a stunningly beautiful and ready-to-kill Krystal who went inside the room straight to where I was and pulled Jiyeon off me by the hair.

“What do you think you’re doing with my boyfriend?! Get out of here, you !” The flaming Krystal dragged Jiyeon out of the room and was followed by her three other friends, leaving me and the other guys dumbfounded.

“Well done, Krystal dear,” Vic noona said as she entered the KTV room then sat beside Minho.

“Happy birthday, Amber-shi!” Sulli greeted me and I just responded with a faint smile.

I nervously turned my gaze towards Krystal and met her soul-piercing icy glare on me. “Amber Liu, you and me, OUT!” she ordered before walking out of the door.

Not again. -.-
