Let's Get Drunk

Breaking Boundaries

Amber’s POV

Jessie and I decided to grab some ddeokbokki at the pojangmacha near our campus. The place brought back the memory of me drinking with Kim Ki Bum when I ditched my first date with Krystal. As expected, it was packed with people but two familiar faces suddenly caught my attention. I blinked several times and saw the angelic face of my ex-girlfriend with teary eyes looking at Kwon Yuri the ert who was giving her a deep bow. Did Yuri do something to Krystal?! I searched for Jessica-shi’s hand and pulled her to their direction. Whatever that ert was doing with Krystal, I had to check it out.

“What do you think you’re doing, Yul?” I said in a fake joyful voice. I didn’t like what I was seeing but I had to hide my feeling of jealousy before Krystal caught me.

“Sis, I didn’t know you’re here too!” I heard Jessica told Krystal. Oh yes, they’re siblings. I almost forgot about it. “Amber, meet my sister, Krystal. And Krys, this is Yi Yun. You probably know her as Amber.” Krystal just gave a faint smile at her sister then turned her cold eyes on me, down to my hand tightly holding Jessie noona’s hand. I withdraw my hand and looked away first before having an eye contact with her scary eyes. Jessica walked towards Yuri and patted her shoulder. “Oh, you’re here too, Yuri-shi. Are you hanging out with my sister?”

“Y-Yes.I—we uhmmm soju.” Yuri looked funny when she got nervous of Jessica’s presence. I had never seen Kwon Yuri stutter in front of girls; maybe she really did fall in love with Jessie.

“Let’s join them, Amber?” my boss asked me and I just nodded as a response. The four of us sat together, Yuri sat beside me facing Krystal while Jessica sat beside her sister facing me.

“Uhmm. Are you guys drinking?” I asked Yuri who really looked so anxious like she was caught in the act of doing something weird.

“What do you think we’re doing with soju then?” Krystal scowled and rolled her eyes. Her crankiness just now reminded me of the times when were just awkward acquaintances brought together by our common friends. She really did scowl at me a lot before.

“Here, Amber,” Yuri said and pour a glass for me. I gulped as two pairs of cold eyes looked at me intently saying if you drink that, you’re dead. Their looks were tearing my soul apart.

“Uh, I don’t think it’s a good idea, Yul—

“Don’t be rude and just drink—

But before anything else, Jessica-shi got the shot glass from Yuri’s hand and we both watched her drink it in one shot. We just both heard Krystal let out a deep sigh and saw her drink one shot too. I couldn’t help but gulp at the same time with Krystal when she poured a full glass and drink it at once. I had seen her drink somaek before but I didn’t know she can handle alcohol pretty well.

“By the way, why are you guys here?” Yuri asked me before stealing a glance at Jessica, reminding me our real purpose why we came. “You’re not on a date, are you?” My roommate moved closer and whispered while looking at me with narrow eyes. Kwon Yuri’s jealousy strike again! Haha!

“Oh well we’re sort of. Uhmm. Jackie noona, you know, set us up,” I whispered back. “And why are you here with her?” I asked her in a casual tone, hiding my jealousy deep inside my heart. “You’re not on a date too, are you?” Just to be sure, I had to ask her that.

“And if we are?” Yuri shot me with an evil smirk on her face before drinking a shot.

Aish. What was that, Kwon Yuri?! You can’t date my girl—I mean ex-girlfriend! I was fuming with anger as I sat back on my seat, my hand automatically searched for the soju bottle to pour some on my glass but Jessica-shi managed to get it first.

“I said no soju for you, Amber Liu!” she told me and threw her ice cold glare at me. “Ahjumma, two orders of ddeokbokki, please!”

“Just one shot, Noona. Please?” I asked her in an aegyotic way, hoping that she would let me taste even just a shot. I was really craving for soju right now since it’s been so long since I last drank some alcohol and I felt like it would flush out my jealousy too.

“Noona my ,” Krystal crossed her arms and mumbled to herself but my ears were sharp enough to hear it. Is she probably...jealous? I rejected the impossible idea and went back pursuing Jessie.

“Please, noona. Promise, just a shot,” I told her, pulling off another aegyo at her, but she didn’t even blink her eyes though her face was already blushing. “Please, please, please.”

“Will you just shut up?!” It was Krystal; she gave me one hell of a scary glare that made me feel like melting on my seat.

“Two orders of ddeokbokki,” the pojangmacha ahjumma said as she approached our table with our order. I felt like hiding my face from embarrassment when I saw her; she was the same ahjumma when Key and I got drunk here. “Omo! You’re here again?” she told me the moment she laid her eyes on me. She looked at the others and when she saw Jessica-shi, “Ah, you brought your girlfriend with you too. Someone will bring you home when you pass out again.”

My boss’s cheeks reddened and smiled shyly at the ahjumma. “Thank you for last time, ahjummuni.”

“You’re always welcome, young lady. Just don’t let this drunkard boyfriend of yours drink too much again,” ahjumma said with a smile then left.

Aish, why does everybody think that we’re a couple when we don’t have feelings for each other?

Krystal’s POV

Amber came with my unnie, a proof that she remembers her. Why does it just have to be me who she doesn’t remember at all? *sigh* My chest tightened as I saw they’re glistening couple rings on their fingers and acted like a sweet couple in front of us. I couldn’t help but drink a shot at every sweet gestures of Amber towards unnie. She calls her ‘Noona’ and acted so cute in front of her while my unnie just blushed. How can these two be not a couple when they treat each other like that?

Even the ahjumma said that they’re a couple! Aish, do I really have to believe everything that Yuri unnie said? Speaking of Yuri unnie, she seemed to like my sister so much. I didn’t know how long they’ve know each other but her sincerity was enough for me to give her my blessing. Only the two of us understand each other, I knew she’s in pain watching Amber and my sister too. We share the same pain, Yuri unnie. But if they really like each other, what else can we do?

“Let’s drink, Krystal,” Yuri unnie said before raising her glass and we made a toast.

“Yah, Kwon Yuri, don’t make my little sister drink too much!” my sister scolded Yuri unnie who seemed to melt like butter on her seat out of fear. That’s what love can do to you, huh? I couldn’t help but smile at the scene.

“Why are you smiling, Krystal-shi?” My heart leaped when Amber suddenly ask me with the same cold formal tone she used before, breaking the ice wall between us. Gawd. How I missed Amber’s voice calling out my name.

“N-Nothing,” I replied and turned my attention to the kimbap in front of me though I still felt Amber’s eyes set on me. Don’t look at me like that, you idiot!

“Amber, say aaahh,” I heard Jessica unnie said while picking a piece of rice cake for Amber. The llama smiled sheepishly and just let my unnie feed her. Aish. What a scene! My inside was fuming with jealousy; I really wanted to strangle my own sister at the moment!

“Krystal, say ‘Cheers’,” Yuri unnie said and we shared again another toast.

“You’re drinking too much, Krystal-shi. Are you sure you can handle yourself?” Amber asked me in a cold flat tone but somehow I could feel a little amount of concern from her voice.

“Y-Yes,” I simply replied without looking at her.

“Just drink to your heart’s content, I’ll send you home when you got drunk,” she assured me with a dorky smile. Send me home? Then I’ll be happy to get drunk!

My unnie gave me a ‘Don’t make Amber send you home’ glare and I just replied with a smirk. I didn’t know if she just got jealous of what Amber said but it made her drink a shot of soju.

Ha! Then let’s see who Amber will send home tonight. Let the battle begin!

Jessica’s POV

Amber was paying too much attention on my sister and I didn’t like that idea. How can I still lose to Krystal even if Amber doesn’t remember her? And when Amber said that she would send my sister home when she got drunk, I couldn’t just sit there and let it happen.

My jealousy fired up and it made drink a shot of soju. My sister really seemed to be thinking of getting drunk when she drank a shot too. Everytime I drink a shot, she would drink one too, making a drinking competition between us that only the two of us were aware.

“It looks like you’ll be sending two drunken girls home, Ambro,” I heard Kwon Yuri told Amber.

“We’ll send them together, Yul. So don’t drink anymore,” the dork replied and went back eating.

“She’s right, Yuri-shi. My sister here might need a piggyback ride home,” I told her before throwing a challenging look at Krystal. “Drink up, sis.”

We drank more shots until we both got crazily drunk. I wanted to drink until I pass out so Amber would carry me home. Or not to see Amber carry Krystal home. My vision started to get blurry and I felt my body weakened and got heavy. The last thing I saw was my sister resting her head on the table. Krystal, please get up and don’t let Amber carry you home.

Then I passed out.

Yuri’s POV

The Jung sisters were having too much alcohol but Amber didn’t seem to care. She just happily continued eating her fifth order of ddeokbokki. I just watched my Jessica as she downed another shot but the thought that she was just doing it for Amber made my heart twinge.

Yes, I knew it. The sisters were somehow in a competition and I was pretty sure that they’re fighting silently over Amber. There’s no need for words, their eyes were talking for themselves. But Amber was too dense to notice it. Maybe she really did forget and didn’t care about Krystal anymore. You stupid dinosaur! Your amnesia is just making things even harder for me!

Krystal passed out first and I knew Jessica would in no time so I prepared myself to catch her if she ever falls. But when she did, Amber surprisingly caught her and helped her get up. The next thing that happened stabbed my heart dead.

“Amber, I love you,” my drunken ice princess told my roommate and kissed her lips before she collapsed on Amber’s arm. It’s like déjà vu, it already happened before but that time Amber was the drunken one when my Jessica said those words and kissed her. But one thing was for sure, whether Jessica is drunk or not, she will still say the same words. That she loves Amber.

“Kwon Yuri, assist me here!” I heard Amber said like nothing happened. And I willingly walked towards them to help like I saw nothing too.

“I’ll just carry Krystal. Take care of Jessica,” I told her bitterly and walked towards the younger Jung who was resting her head on the table, sleeping peacefully.

“Don’t touch her with your ert hands!” I was surprised when Amber said. And is that jealousy in her voice? Nah, she couldn’t remember Krystal. “I-I’ll c-carry her. You carry Jessie noona.”

“Why? You want to carry Krys—

“You like Jessica-shi, you idiot! Why will you let me do your job?” I was shocked when Amber told me that. Amber made Jessica ride my back and walked towards the little Jung and carefully moved Krystal on her back. “Let’s go. Take care of your love, Yul,”

Amber knows already? Am I too obvious? Aish.

Amber’s POV

“Amber, I love you,” I was surprised when Jessie said that and kissed me on the lips before she passed out. That was the second time she kissed me and made me feel this fizzy feeling inside, the feeling of being kissed by your crush. Yes, I admit I had a little crush on her before but I got Krystal in my heart already. But whether she loves me for real, I still would pick Krystal over her.

I knew my roommate saw what happened and was hurt that she chose to carry Krystal instead.

“Don’t touch her with your ert hands!” I couldn’t let her touch Krystal. Never!

Stupid Kwon Yuri almost caught on my jealousy but she got tongue-tied the moment I reminded her of her feelings for Jessica-shi. Now we’re both carrying our drunken loved ones on our backs, walking our way towards the university dorm. The Jung’s place was too far so we decided to take them on our own home. We couldn’t open their doors without their key or password anyway.

Yuri looked like she was having a hard time carrying Jessie noona who was rummaging her hair while mumbling stupid things. While Jessie was giving my roommate a hard time, her little sister was just silently sleeping on my back. Her face was deeply buried on my neck, giving me a tingling sensation at her every breath. I missed you so much, Krystal. You should have waited for me. I couldn’t help but feel sad as I reminisced the last moments I shared with Krystal in Busan.

We reached the dorm and I carefully laid Krystal on my bed; Yuri did the same to Jessica.

“I’ll take a shower first, Am,” my roommate told me before entering the bathroom.

Now that Yuri’s out for a while, I could comfortably watch my beloved Krystal sleep. My hands find their way towards Krystal’s beautiful face to caress her soft red cheeks but just in time when my fingers landed on her cheek, she uttered something that left me dumbfounded.

“Choi Minho.” The name she mentioned in her sleep was not mine; it was my bestfriend’s. I felt like cold water was splashed all over my face as I stepped back in disbelief.

She’s really into Minho now, Amber. You’re just too stupid to assume that there must still be some feelings left for you.

And I walked out of the room with nothing but a broken heart.

-----------------------------------------------------

Amber left suddenly that she didn’t manage to hear Krystal’s next words:

“ off, Choi Minho.”
