Chapter 42

You're Still The One

It took 3 hours before the class reached their camping site. Although they were all tired and still half asleep, Mr. Rivera had to immediately put his students to work as their tents needed to be put up. On the bus he had informed the students to group themselves into a group of 5 who will share a tent. Kim joined the girls, Mel, Joyce, Shaina and Sara while Gerald had to join the boys, Joaqui, Matteo, Rob and Fred. The boys decided to help Kim and the girls set up their tent first before working on theirs. Once they were done, Kim and her friends joined the boys to offer a hand with their tent as well.

Kyle: (noticed how sweet Kim and Gerald were while putting up the tent) Wow, and cute naman tingnan ng ating fave couple! Super busy building up their love nest!

Rob: Kanina pa yan sila, parang wala tayo dito.

Kung hindi lang deep voices and naririnig ko, I would think I am hearing teenage girls talking.

Gerald: Look what you’ve done guys! Nahiya tuloy si misis, iiwan ako. Babe, don’t mind them dito ka muna. I need your help connecting this thing.

Kim: Naku isa ka pa, gustong gusto mo when they tease us kasi may kakampi ka sa pang-aasar sa akin! You guys are almost finished with your tent naman eh and the girls have left so I’ll just go join them.

Sara: See guys, this is the reason why you should keep your comments to yourselves. Ayan tuloy wala nang kilig moments.

Joaqui: Naku knowing these two, second nature na nila na super sweet to each other even if they try to contain themselves in public.

Gerald: Babe please stay. Tulungan mo muna ako dito then we can join the girls.

Gerald placed his hands around her waist as she motioned to leave and whispered, “Let’s finish our love nest so we can put it to some good use. We can settle inside and have some privacy.”

Kim: (whispered while playfully hit his chest) Gerald!

Gerald: If we zip the tent close and place a ‘do not disturb’ sticker, I’m sure my tent mates would be more than happy to offer us some privacy!

Kim: You are definitely out of your mind mister! I better bail before you start playing out your fantasies. Super gwapo ka pa naman ngayon, I might have a hard time refusing. Mapahamak pa ako nito, I have a goody-two-shoes reputation to uphold!

Gerald: Babe! Hey! Don’t run off, tulungan mo naman ako dito oh.

Kim: Kayang kaya mo yan!

Gerald: Joaqui, Rob, kayo na bahala dito ha. Baby wait lang, sama ako sayo!

Rob: Bilib talaga ako sa kamandag ni Kimmy, she had really captured Gerald and boy, she got him good. As if he can’t breathe if he’s not by her side.

Joaqui: He’s definitely under her spell but then again, sino ba namang hindi sa ganda at kabaitan niya!

Lara: Hey guys, tapusin nyo na yan so you can help us get some wood for the bonfire tonight. Mamaya na yang chikahan ninyo!

Once the camp site had been fully set up, they went for a hike up the mountains.

Mel: I wish Matt goes to our school too, na-miss ko tuloy sya watching how sweet Gerald is to his baby. Nakaka-inggit sila, bwesit!

Hehe…

They came across a beautiful waterfall at the end of their hike.

Kim: Wow, I love this place! The water looks so clear and the view is absolutely gorgeous!

Gerald turned to face her, wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her chin. “Yeah, absolutely breathtaking!”

Kim held his chin and turned his face towards the waterfall. “Hehe, dun ka dapat nakatingin! Halika, let’s go for a swim.”

Gerald: The water does look very inviting pero babe baka magkasakit tayo nito, we’ll be soaking wet on our hike back to the campsite.

Kim didn’t bother trying to reason with him. Before he knew it, she had jumped off the rock and straight into the water. Gerald was hesitant at first about getting in the water as he thought about their long walk back. However when he noticed the guys jumping in after Kim, Gerald decided to risk pneumonia and joined in.

Kim: I love this place, there’s something so enchanting about the whole area!

Gerald: Yeah, it’s so peaceful here and the water is great! I can just imagine kung tayo lang dalawa dito.

Kim: Mmm, ano na namang iniisip mo dyan at hinigpitan mo pa talaga ang yakap mo?

Gerald: Diba, it’s so romatic here? Secluded, walang neighbours and ganda pa ng view. Kahit saan tayo magpagulong gulong walang makakakita!

Kim: Mister, there’s only one thing on your mind! Too bad the whole class is here. Hehe, better luck next time! Pero in fairness you’re right. I can’t get over this place. It would be great kung may bahay kubo dito by the river.

Kim: No, I’d prefer a little hut, yung parang cubby house lang. Basta there’s something so cute about it. I remember when I was little we had a neighbour na may bahay kubo then he moved to the city and abandoned the place. I had so much fun doon sa kubo, as in everyday after school I hanged out there. Doon ako natuto magluto ng rice when I was in Year-1. Ang comfortable doon, I spent a lot of time alone there whenever I had one of those ‘not so good’ days. I think a little hut would really suit this place, parang little vacation house diba? Simple, comfortable at hindi nakakasira sa nature feel of the whole area.

Gerald: Sige gagawan kita dito ng bahay kubo.

Kim: Sira!

Gerald: Hypothetically, if I do manage to make one for you, ano ang reward?

Kim: Well, let’s just say, I might help you make your wishes come true!

Gerald: Kahit anong wish?

Kim: Kahit ano basta afford ko lang.

Gerald: Teka muna babe ha, I’ll just go ask the guys sino sa kanila marunong maggawa ng house out of twigs and leaves.

Kim: Sira! Hehe…

Gerald: Tapos magpa-iwan tayo dito, we’ll start a new life sa ating bahay kubo and we’ll watch our kids grow up here. Makaya mo kaya, it’s so secluded here. No one can come to your rescue, ang dami pa namang momo dito!

Besides, I highly doubt you can survive without your playstation or laptop or mobile phone! After a week, magulat na lang ako bigla ka na lang nag-disappearing act dahil walang technology dito.

Gerald: Baby, as long as you’re beside me, you are all I need to survive. I’ll gladly give up everything just to have you.

Kim: Mister, haven’t you heard? You can’t live on love alone. We’ll starve to death!

Gerald: Food is not a problem around here. We can have a garden of vegetables and I’m sure there are heaps of fishes on that river. Ikaw ang inaalala ko, how can you make it without microwave, washing machine or stove?

Kim: FYI mister, I know how to wash clothes by hand no! When I used to live with my aunt, na-experience ko na maglaba by hand and maluto using firewood. I never grew up with a maid, kahit saan ako mapadpad kayang kaya ko ang trabaho!

Gerald: So, ready na pala tayo gumawa ng bahay kubo at magtanan.

Kim: And live on fish and vegetables alone? No thanks. I still prefer a lifestyle which involves shopping, socializing and ice cream! Teka, why are we talking about living together as if mag-asawa na tayo? Halika na nga, I think we have to start walking back.

The class decided to head back to the camp site before it starts getting dark. Gerald grabbed a small towel from his backpack and started wiping Kim.

Kim: Babe, what are you doing?

Gerald: Wiping you, we are soaking wet baka magkasakit ka na naman.

That’s what I used to wipe your sweat earlier remember? It’s so hot naman eh, we’ll dry pretty quick so don’t worry about it.

Gerald: (pulled out his jacket from his backpack) Ok, put this one on na lang, baka magkasakit ka pa.

Kim: Babe It’s all good, really. I’m not cold.

Gerald: Eh kasi babe, you’re all wet so your shirt is see-through right now. Ang y mong tingnan, I’m having such a hard time trying to look away. I’m loving the view kaya lang the rest of the guys are also seeing the same thing.

Gerald: You look totally hot baby, nakaka turn-on! I should be the only one lucky enough to gain access to such a wonderful view.

Kim: Oo na daddy, akin na nga yang jacket mo!

Gerald: Hey, that’s sugar daddy to you!

Kim: Hehe, sira!
