"Lay?" Jaemin rolled her eyes when her boyfriend finally picked up his phone. "Where were you? I called you like...four times and you weren't contactable."

She heard shuffling noises from the other end of the line. "I fell asleep, babe." he muttered. "Tired."

"Again?" Jaemin frowned. "This is the third time this week you fell asleep in the middle of the day. You don't usually need that much sleep, Lay. You can survive with just five hours sleep each day. Are you not feeling well?"

"No." Lay muttered. "I'm not sick, just tired."

"Rest more then." Jaemin's face fell at his short emotionless answers. "Do you want me to go over and make some soup or something for you?"

"It's okay babe. Listen, I'm a little busy right now, I can't talk much." Lay told her. "I have to hang."

"Oh alright. Bye-" Jaemin stared at her phone as Lay hung up.

She sighed softly as she plopped herself on her bed, disorientated. This had been a really common happening for the past three weeks. Lay didn't bring her out on a single date even though he made it a point to go out with her at least once a week in the past.

He didn't answer his phone until after a few tries and even when he did, his calls were short like how it had just been. He seemed cold and didn't like talking to her in school. He seemed to be avoiding her, having more council meetings and home errands to run than ever before.

It was frustrating on her side and extremely suspicious.

How could she not suspect that her boyfriend was cheating on her, or at least guilty of something, whatever that is, when he acted that way?

She loved him a lot, no offense. But there was this worry that he might have gotten sick of her as well. They had been a couple for a good six years, which was really rare amongst their peers since they had gotten together really early, when they were both fifteen.

Lay was after all, a good looking youngster. He had so many other pretty girls in his university faculty and had to be bound to be tempted by some. The problem was that when he was tempted, would he act on them?

Jaemin never doubted Lay's feelings for her and she trusted him whole-heartedly before this. She thought that trust was the most important fundamental in a relationship and she didn't want to be an overly sensitive girlfriend since she knew how annoying those were.

But it was getting harder and harder for her to trust him when he acted like she didn't exist. Could it be that he had a change of heart?

"Lay?" Jaemin approached her boyfriend who was mixing around with a bunch of his friends from his faculty. She couldn't help but notice how a few of them were pretty girls.

Lay blinked at the sight of her and gave her a small smile. "Hey." he jogged away from his friends and Jaemin couldn't help but be sensitive about it even though she wouldn't have in the past.

Did he purposely go away from his friends so that he wouldn't have to introduce her as his girlfriend? Or was it because the girl he was cheating with was amongst that group?

"What are you doing here?" Lay asked.

Jaemin flinched. "What do you mean?" she defended. "Can't I visit my boyfriend now?" she fumed. "I haven't gotten to see him at all this whole week and wondered if he was alive or not." she spat.

Lay frowned. "Hey what are you talking about. We just talked yesterday, didn't we?"

"Oh you mean that's called a conversation?" Jaemin rolled her eyes. "Me asking and caring about you and you telling me that you fell asleep and you were too busy. Yes, the call that lasted a minute is called a great conversation indeed." she said sarcastically.

Lay flinched but he didn't explain his behavior. "You're being paranoid." he brushed the matter off. "I'm busy, I swear. Ii have to get back to work now, babe. See you."

He jogged back to his friends and Jaemin looked away, blinking away the tears. Darn that guy.

Jaemin held the box of cupcakes in her hands and took a deep breath.

Maybe she was too harsh on him. Maybe he was really busy. He was telling the truth, perhaps.

And to prevent her boyfriend from straying, she had to become the best girlfriend ever that he couldn't stand to lose her. Jaemin knocked on Lay's door and waited for him to answer. His roommate, Chen, popped his head out and blinked at her. "Hey, Jaemin right? Lay's girl?"

Jaemin smiled. At least he knew her.

"Yeah. Isn't Lay around?" she asked, trying to look in. She saw clothes strewn around messily like boys' rooms always were.

"Nah, he's out meeting someone, I don't know who." Chen narrowed his eyes on the bag Jaemin was holding. "Wait are those cupcakes?"

Jaemin smiled and passed them to him. "Share them with Lay when he comes back alright?" Chen brightened. "Thanks!"

Jaemin nodded and bade him goodbye, going off in search of her boyfriend. Meeting someone? WHO?

Jaemin walked around for a bit until she saw a familiar figure walking around the university compound. It was Lay.

With a girl.

And this arms were around the girl's shoulder, looking too close to be just friends.

Jaemin couldn't really tell who the girl was since it was the back view, but she had shoulder length curly hair and was wearing office like clothes. She felt her blood boil and swallowed. He was cheating on her!

Without thinking twice, Jaemin marched over to the two of them and pulled Lay away. "YOU BASTARD!" she screamed, punching his arm.

Lay winced in surprise, his eyes wide. "Babe?"

Jaemin glared at him, not sparing the rotten girl a glance. "You cheater!" she hissed. "I was wondering why you were soo distant all these days and now I know. You've gotten another girl!"

Lay blinked a few times. "Another girl-" he glanced at the girl he was with. "Wait, you mean umma?"

"What umm-" Jaemin turned to look at the girl and she gasped. "Oh my god Omonim."

"Hi Jaemin." Mrs Zhang laughed. "Did you think Lay was cheating on you with me? My word, I look that young don't I?"

"But..." Jaemin's jaw dropped, her cheeks rapidly colouring. AWKWARD .

"I'm so sorry." she bowed. "I didn't think and when I saw Lay with someone else.." she squeaked.

"I think you've got some explanation to do, Yixing." Mrs Zhang clicked her tongue. "You must have done something to have made your girlfriend feel insecure in the first place."

"Umma!" Lay groaned. 'You know what I've been up to!"

Mrs Zhang smiled. "Yes I have." she looked at Jaemin. "Now don't you go worrying about Lay cheating on you okay my dear? I'll personally have his head if he does." she joked. "I'll leave you to explain things, Yixing. Hope to hear good news tonight!"

Mrs Zhang left in her limo.

Jaemin hung her head, ashamed. Damn, it was embarrassing!

She slowly shuffled away. "Uhm, since it's all a misunderstanding, I'll-"

"Wait." Lay grabbed her arm. "Let's...take a walk." his hands slithered to her fingers and interlaced them with his own. They strolled around the school compound in awkward silence, Jaemin too embarrassed, Lay too hesitant.

"I'm sorry for suspecting you." Jaemin finally squeaked. "You were a little too distant these few weeks so I thought you got bored of me. We've after all been tgether for six years. It's not a short amount of time."

Lay looked at her. "I won't ever get bored of you, silly." he murmured. "Look." he stopped, taking a deep breath. He seemed nervous.

"The reason why I was distant and everything the past few weeks was because I was really busy, I didn't lie about that one." Lay told her. "And I also had to keep you from suspecting what I was busy with. You know I'm a bad liar, and I didn't want you to suspect anything was up at all since you're too sharp for your own good. So I chose to avoid you."

Jaemin looked at him, unsure. "What were you keeping from me then?" she whispered.

"This." Lay took out a square shaped box from his pocket. "Umma came today to get a look at this that I've been busying myself over these past weeks. I designed it and made it myself, so it took a little more time."

Jaemin stared at the box, her heart thudding quickly and hard. "That shape..." she whispered. "Lay that's.."

Lay nodded and got down on one knee. Jaemin's hands flew to and she gasped, her eyes quickly tearing. "Song Jaemin, we've been dating for six years and these six years were amazing. I'll never give them up for anything else." he murmured softly as he looked into her eyes. "I know we're still young, but I'm really sure you're the one I want to spend the rest of my life with."

"So Jaemin, will you marry me?"

Jaemin nodded and flung her arms around him. "Yes!" she smiled, tears rolling down her cheeks. Lay hugged her back tightly and took a deep breath.

He took out the exquisite ring and slipped it on her finger. Jaemin smiled at it while it twinkled under the sunlight. "It's beautiful."

"You're beautiful." Lay murmured.

They strolled back to the dorms, hand in hand with wide smiles on their faces.

Then, Lay grinned. "I think you made my mom really happy today."

Jaemin reddened. "Yah."

"My mom mistaken for my older sister, yes. But my girlfriend?" Lay laughed. "I think she'll never reject this daughter-in-law ever."
