“You seemed too friendly with Changmin.” Jae scowled at her after the maknae left in a hurry.

“Master Changmin is friendly and he was waiting for you so he asked me to accompany him.” She reasoned out. She didn’t want him to think that she was taking advantage of Changmin’s friendliness.

“Yah right. Min is friendly to everyone.” He said and went to his room.

She smiled a little and felt a bit sad that the guy she likes was friendly to everyone. She can’t blame him though. He belongs to the lime light and one of the many perks of being famous was getting to know a lot of celebrities, girl celebrities. She felt a short stabbing pain and she couldn’t do anything about it. She was just glad that a least, for about half a day, Shim Changmin, talked to her and had a great time, a consolation that anyone would die for to have.

Two weeks went on swiftly for Mi Young. She religiously followed Jae’s order to avoid him as much as possible. She took it as a king’s order. She made sure that all the chores she had to do in the morning were already done even before Jae woke up. She then went to the garden and tended to the plants and wait for Jae to leave and that was the time she will enter the house. They still see each other but Mi Young will immediately changed her path except when Jae had to say something to her. With so many chores she had to do, Jae never allowed her to do two things, clean his room and cook for him. Jaejoong never allowed him to touch his food. She thought that he was just too meticulous to taste other’s cooking so she just brushed it off.

But if Jae didn’t want her cooking, Changmin, her new found friend always sneaked in especially when Jaejoong wasn’t around and she will cook for him happily. It was the chore she love to do. Changmin was so nice to her and he even offered his friendship to her in which, of course, she gladly accepted. It was a dream come true to get to know her biggest idol. He wasn’t afraid to tell her everything and she was confident to tell about her life story too, about her mission and about her sister.

Changmin was more than shocked when he found out that she couldn’t read or write like any girl of her age. He found it out by an accident. She was writing a letter to her Omma on the kitchen when Changmin suddenly appeared behind her back. He saw her letter and her penmanship. He was frowning at first and couldn’t believe that it was her handwriting. She was ashamed but he made her feel okay.

“Woah.” He looked at her with unbelieving eyes. “You don't know how to write?”

“Of course not.” She waved her hand rapidly. “It’s just that… I never got the chance to enter high school and it took me eight years to finish elementary. I’m a bird brain… that’s why.” she laughed off.

“Seriously?”

She laughed as if everything was okay; well in fact… it was really okay. Maybe she was having a hard time writing of reading something but she was contented on the little education she had. Even if she wanted to continue to study, it will be impossible. She believed it was too late for her to enter school. She will surely be the center of attention and of laughter and that she wouldn’t like to happen.

“Ah huh.” She nodded. “I can write. I’m only having difficulty but its okay.”

“Are you sure?  I can help you enter a school.” He volunteered and that made her blushed and of course, it made her love him more.

“I made pyeonyuk (sliced boiled meat), you want to try it? It’s a Jeju specialty.” she smiled.

“Are you asking me?”

“Ah huh.”

“Bring it on!” They both laughed so hard like there was no tomorrow.

Whenever she was with Changmin, time moves so fast and like magic, all her tiredness was washed away. Seeing him makes her so inspired to face the world everyday.

“You always cook for me.” He said afterwards. “When I’m free or when Yunho hyung is a little better, I will treat you outside. Let’s eat at a very expensive restaurant. It’s time for you to taste something different, my treat.”

That made her smile and her heart jumped for joy. Was he asking her for a date? She immediately brushed that idea off. She reminded herself that she was still the butler and was never and never will be allowed to fall in love with her master. She also recalled what Jae had told her. Changmin was friendly with everyone and that everyone included her.

She let go of a small smile.

“You don't want it?” he said and noticed her sad expression.

“Of course I want to but I can’t.”

“Why? I will tell Jaejoong Hyung for permission. I think it’s just proper to have your day off. You are working so hard in this huge house.” It was touching but still, she had to decline it.

“Maybe some other time.”

Changmin nodded and continued to eat, but the excitement he had before slowly faded away.

Meanwhile, inside Kiyomi’s apartment at one of the highest building in Seoul, a very close friend visited her and her name is Han Jin Ae, another top model, a ballerina and a girl with a good heart towards… cats… and not to mention her big appetite.

“Did you tell Jae about your new project?” Jin Ae asked her friend while cuddling a kitten she found on the street on her way to Kiyomi’s place. She had already named it cookie because she was currently munching on some cookies  that time.

“Do you think he will allow me to do it?” Kiyomi replied as she took a dress from her closet and put it on her bag. “But I’ll tell him about it some other time, when he’s ready.”

“Jaejoong Oppa is really serious about you. He sees you as his future wife and you should give it a try.”

Kiyomi just smiled as an answer. “How about you, when you found your childhood sweet heart and asked you to marry him, will you give up your modeling career for him?”

Jin Ae looked up as she thought of her answer. “Of course.” She nodded afterwards with a cookie on one hand and her new cat on the other. “Not just modeling, I will give up everything and be a plain house wife so I can tend to his needs.” She said it seriously and that made Kiyomi laughed.

“You established your name already in this world. You know it’s not easy to be on where we are right now. Models out there are doing their best just to be right where we are.”

“I know!” she smiled and kissed cookie. Kiyomi didn’t found it disgusting at all since she love kissing kids at orphanages no matter how smelly or dirty they looked. They both like doing charity works, but in a different way, Kiyomi do it with humans with Jin Ae with cats. But one thing that made them differ from each other aside from the fact that Jin Ae was a birdbrain and Kiyomi was a walking encyclopedia, was their priorities in life.

Kiyomi had set her plans on life and just like a blue print, everything was planned and she was actually on the process of making it into a reality, step by step while Jin Ae was also a girl with a dream but willing to put it all away for a guy.

“I made it a point to be on top for him to see me or at least laid his eyes on me. And when that day comes, I shall dropped all my designer clothes and shoes away and say goodbye to the world of modeling and say hello to the life of a plain house wife with her husband beside her.” She giggled as she lied down to Kiyomi’s bed with cookie on her lap.

“That’s pathetic.” Kiyomi hissed. “Why don't you just show yourself to him and tell him that you like him and that you waited all your life for him to notice you?”

“I cant.” Jin Ae’s voice turned serious.

“Why?”

“Not now.  Jaejoong Oppa is in love with you and willing to offer the world. You so much to give to him in return not like me.” She sighed and stared at the ceiling.

“Aww.” Kiyomi lied down beside her hugged her friend. “Don’t worry, you’re time will come soon.”

“I know.” She smiled back.

“Want to join me tomorrow? Jaejoongie said he will throw a dinner party at his house and he wants me to be there. I think it’s important?”

“Will you tell him about the project?”

“I’ll think about.”

“I can’t. I have some photo shoot to do.”

“Well then… I have to prepare too.” She stood and continued on packing.

The next day, Jaejoong woke up early that made Mi Young surprised. He immediately went to the grocery and bought a lot of food that day. He started cooking like there was no tomorrow and at 10:00 a.m., he already finished cooking three heavy dishes all by himself. Mi Young didn’t dare to touch anything or to enter the kitchen. She just stood from afar and watched him exhaust him self to the challenging world of cooking.

It was 2 pm but he hadn’t taken his lunch yet, he was engrossed on cooking a huge amount of food that was good for twenty people. He did it all by himself and Mi Young couldn’t help but be amazed with his abilities and skills. He was like an expert chef, mixing ingredients all together like a pro but in the end, at around 4, with a sweaty forehead; he took his phone and called Rei for some help since Saki was still in school.

“I need you to be here. There’s still a lot to be cooked and I’m running out of time. Kiyomi and the rest will be here so I need to get ready.” Mi Young heard him said.

“Oppa, YooMi is a little hot and Yoochun is still at SM Ent. I really wanted to help you but YooMi needs me here.” Said Rei from the other line.

“Alright.” Jae sighed. “Guess I’m just gonna do it myself.”

He placed the phone on the counter top with much desperation on his eyes. Mi Young saw it all and no matter how unfriendly Jaejoong was towards her, he was still her master and serving him was her job.

“ I’ll help.” She said from behind as she put on her apron and took some vegetables from the table.

“Huh?”

“Master, I’ll help you cook. If your planning to serve this for dinner, you will not make it on time if you’re alone.” She said.

Jaejoong looked at her disapprovingly but he really needed help so he gave her the pan and said, “You do the gravy. I don't want it too thick. I want it to be just perfect and you have to clean the fish thoroughly after. I don't want it to be fishy. Place it in the oven and baked it at exactly ten minutes. You have to check it once in a while. You also have to steam the vegetables and I want them to be perfect got it?” without breathing.

Mi Young smiled widely and nodded. It was the first time that Jae allowed her to cook and she will make him see her abilities, like what Changmin said, she will make him run for his money.

Jaejoong just frowned when he saw her smile. He didn’t like the idea of her touching anything to his kitchen especially cooking the food for Kiyomi but he had no choice, he had to hand it to her and prayed that she will not do anything to ruin the dinner.

“One mistake.” Jae told her. “And you’ll return to Jeju immediately.” But Mi Young just smiled once again.

 Jaejoong watched her closely as she expertly run to the ingredients. She did what he wanted and with flying colors.

“Wait!” Jaejoong snapped when she was about to put something on the gravy that wasn’t on the ingredients’ list. “What is that?”

“Herb?”

“And why are you putting herb on that gravy?”

“It will make it taste better Master, trust me.”

“You better be serious about it. It that ruined the taste, I’m really going to fire you.”

“Okay.” She snapped and went back to cooking.

Jaejoong allowed her to put it to his original recipe because he got curious on what it was going to taste like.

“Master, the gravy is done.” She said afterwards.

Jaejoong looked at her and then the gravy at the stove top suspiciously. He got curious and he knew that such curiosity can kill a cat but he will not allow it to happen to him. He didn’t trust her cooking and one mistake will mean the end. He took a spoon from one of the drawers and dipped it on the sauce. He then tasted a little part of it making Mi Young wait in such suspense. His face showed no sign of approval or anything and it made her a little nervous. Will he kick her out of his house? No one knew.

He dropped the spoon loudly on the sink and Mi Young literally jumped and stepped back. His gestures showed everything and she was nervous to death. She just stood there frozen like a statue while Jaejoong went on stuffing some herbs in the chicken. She stood there for a while and Jae noticed it. He glared at her and said,

“What are you waiting for? The fish. I said I want it perfect. That gravy matches this chicken. We still have 2 hours till they arrive so you better hurry.” And went back to what he was doing.

She secretly pouted and smiled. He never said he like it but he didn’t bash it also. He even said that it matches the chicken. It was a hidden compliment and her heart jumped for joy. She felt happy and giggly at the same time. It was weird and that feeling made her stop what she was doing and frowned.

‘Weird.’ She thought but shrugged it immediately and concentrated to her cooking.

After an hour, almost all of the foods to be served were ready, Jaejoong entrusted the kitchen to her and went to his room to prepare himself. He worked all day but he still looked like he hadn’t shed a sweat unlike Mi Young who was literally drenched.

And soon enough, the guests slowly arrived. First to come was the Mickey Mouse couple with their cute Minnie. Then it was Saki, who hurriedly went to her room to change her uniform. Junsu arrived soon and looked for his mermaid as usual.

The garden with a very long table under ten light bulbs was filled with people.

Kiyomi also arrived and Mi Young’s jaw dropped when she saw her in a very gorgeous dress. She looked so beautiful, elegant and expensive. The adjectives in her mind wouldn’t even give justice to describe her looks. She was simply stunning. Kiyomi smiled and waved at her the moment she saw the girl in the maid’s uniform. She was carrying the roast chicken and placed it at the middle of the table.

“Wow…” Kiyomi leaned down to smell the newly roasted thing. “Smells good.” She smiled.

“Master Jaejoong worked hard on that.” She smiled back with much enthusiasm and pride not because she helped him cook but she really saw the tremendous effort he exerted to make that dinner possible.

“Really? I bet it’s good. Where is he anyway?” she looked around to find her lover.

“She went to his room.”

“Okay. I’ll just sit here and wait.”

It wasn’t long when Jae came with Saki. Both of them were dressed for that occasion, although no one knew what that dinner was for.

Saki looked around and felt a bit relief that Kyu Hyun wasn’t there. Only some of the SUJU members came because SUJU M was busy promoting in China. She couldn’t face him, at least not yet after what happened. Girls Generation couldn’t arrive since they were busy promoting in Japan as well as SHINee. Two more people and that dinner will officially start.

Jaejoong immediately hooked his arm to Kiyomi’s waist and kissed her in front of everyone.

“You look stunning tonight.” He whispered to her ears.

“Hello handsome.” She returned the compliment which made Jae smile.

Mi Young pouted from far away as she stared at the couple. She imagined herself being caressed by the man she truly love and secretly wished that it was Changmin. She giggled by herself. It was a good thing that no one saw her do that silliness or else they would have mistaken her as crazy.

Then a car made her head fall down to reality. Changmin went down from the driver’s seat and he was as handsome as ever. Her smile reached her ears and passed at that back of her head. She was so happy that she wanted to run to him and hooked her arms around his neck. It would be romantic but she didn’t dare to put it into action. She was just day dreaming and she and Changmin were good friends, just friends.

‘He’s friendly to everyone.’ Jaejoong’s words echoed once again but it didn’t succeed on taking the smile off her face. She was just too excited about that night. She felt that something will happen. She still wasn’t sure what it was but something will definitely happen.

Changmin then pulled out a wheel chair from the trunk and carried a man and placed him on it. She assumed it was Yunho, the guy who met an accident a few weeks ago. It was the first time for her to see him and she couldn’t help but admire his charisma and handsomeness.

One of his legs was casted and he still has a bandage on the right side of his forehead. But never the less, he looked okay.

“Ah… so handsome like Changmin –sshi. Maybe all the guys in Seoul are this blessed with supernatural beauty. Unlike in Jeju, I barely see such magnificent sight.” She mumbled silently.

“Ah!” Kiyomi went to greet them. “Yunho-sshi. Remember me?”

Yunho gave a small smile. “How can I forget Jaejoong’s girl?”

“Ah.” She laughed. “That’s good to hear. I thought you also forgot about me.”

“He’ll be okay soon. The doctor said it will be just temporary.” Jaejoong appeared from behind. “Shall we start now? Food is waiting.”

Jaejoong then looked at Mi Young and she immediately started to serve them. Everyone feasted on the food they had prepared and she was watching them closely for some unwanted look on the faces. She was happy that until she served the dessert, no one made a weird face. Kiyomi even complemented the gravy and it was seconded by Changmin. That made her float but she never let the others notice it of course. Jaejoong just hissed and didn’t say a word. She wasn’t expecting anything from him after all.

And then the time came. Jaejoong suddenly stood and reached for Kiyomi’s hand, which also stood beside him, shocked. She didn’t have the slightest idea on what he was going to say but it did make her so nervous.

“I prepare this special dinner because I want you to be the witness of what I’m going to say to Kiyomi.” He was also nervous but he tried to sound cool as much as possible. “You see, we’re dating for a while now and I think it’s about time for our relationship to take one step higher.”

Kiyomi read his mind. She tried to pull away from his grip but Jae held her hands too tight as if he doesn’t want her to go.

“Omo...” Saki whispered to Junsu. “Will Oppa proposed to her?”

“Think so.” Junsu whispered back.

“Kiyomi-ah.” Jaejoong faced his girl and pulled something out of his pocket. Kiyomi’s heart raced and her mind went blank. She wasn’t expecting any of those things and she was freaking nervous.

“I want you to be my wife.” They both heard gasps from their audience and even Mi Young covered in surprise. It was her first time to see a man proposing to the love of his wife and she really found it romantic.

“Will you accept me to be your husband?” he asked as he opened a small red box in front of her shocked girl friend.

It was the most beautiful ring the girl from Jeju had ever seen. Kiyomi was also amazed on the beauty of it. A ring that any girl wishes to have was being offered to her by the most handsome man in the galaxy.

Everyone was excited because somehow, they knew what Kiyomi will answer positively. Both of them were so in love with each other that marriage was the only thing missing. But that’s what they knew.

Kiyomi took a deep breath and smiled at Jae. Her eyes met his but there was no acceptance. She didn’t say a word. Instead, she gently pushed the ring away from her, making everyone looked at her in disbelief.

“Jae.” She whispered, but loud enough for Jaejoong to hear. “We talked about it already right?”

“K-Kiyomi?” he didn’t understand and he never wanted to understand. She was clearly rejecting his proposal in front of everyone, in front of his sisters, friend and even his butler.

“Jae… I think, this is also the best time to tell you that I accepted a project for Italian Vogue. I will be there for about a month and my manager said that a theater production is offering me a role. The play will be held in Italy and New York.” She tried to make her voice excited but it wasn’t helping him at all. Jaejoong dropped his hands lifelessly and the ring fell to the ground.

“Jae.” She held them and smiled. “My dream is just a breath away. I will be in a play in New York and I know I’m close to Hollywood. You this is what I wanted right?”

“W-we can get marry when you return.” Jaejoong was hoping but the girl didn’t give him that.

“Not now. Well talk about it on my return. “

He didn’t answer. His body felt numb and all he wanted to do was to leave that place.

“Jae.” She cupped her face with her hands. “Jae. Not now okay?”

“You think I will still be there when you return?” he asked. He was fighting his own tears but he didn’t dare to cry. He was strong; at least that’s what he wanted everyone to believe.

She chuckled as if everything was okay well in fact, Jaejoong was anything but okay.

“Of course you will wait for me.“ She even kissed his lips as if nothing happened.

Jae tried to look away and ignored her kiss but she whispered,

“Jae, please don't make it hard on me, I will leave tomorrow and I don't want you to leave like this.”

“You won’t change your mind even if i stop you right?” he said sarcastically. “You just want your dream so follow it. You know I will be the happiest person to see you winning an Oscar.”

“Jae?”

Jae them smiled and faced everyone.

“Guys, let’s call it a day. Enjoy the rest of the evening.” He tried to sound okay but those guys knew better. “Mi Young.” He called and signaled him to follow.

He knew will have a hard time falling asleep that night.
