Let the Games Begin!

The Heartbreaker's Game

Kai’s POV

“I’m what?” I gaped, staring at Suho in disbelief after he just told me that I was leaving right at dusk the following morning after he came back from settling things with Sehun and Chanyeol. “But I thought that I was supposed to leave in two days time! Tomorrow is just . . .” I trailed off, not knowing what the right word for it was. “But, hyung, I am not prepared!” I whined.

But Suho just shrugged. “I don’t know what went wrong with the system,” he replied, sighing. “I just got a call from the person in control of the system. He told both the leader of Exo-M and I that the system said the Games start tomorrow at dusk instead of it being in two days time. I’m guessing he got the dates wrong when he told us the dates for this year’s Game.”

You see, every year after a Games, the person in charge of the system would let Exo-M and Exo-K know the dates for the Games so the representatives are supposed to be told two days ahead for preparations. It’s a strict rule. I don’t know what happens if we don’t start it on that day but apparently if we don’t, something bad happens.

“Fine, whatever,” I muttered, scowling.

Everyone walked inside the room and sat around on the floor as I packed. Suho walked out and came back a few minutes later. He threw a couple of gadgets on my bed. “Here, for you,” he said.

I took the watch where I would be able to communicate with him. The second object was a pair of sunglasses. “Does that have X-Ray visions?” I asked eagerly, pointing toward the sunnies.

Suho shrugged.

Chanyeol picked it up from the bed and put it on. He turned to Sehun and pulled a face. “Ewww! Disgusting.”

Innocently, Sehun asked, his eyes wide, “What? What do you see?”

“You.”

Baekhyun burst out laughing and he and Chanyeol exchanged high-fives while Sehun’s face fell. D.O sniggered and even Suho fought back a smile.

“You know, hyung,” Sehun spoke up, frowning, “just because I’m the maknae, doesn’t mean you guys can bully me and pick on me all the time.”

Baekhyun patted his head sympathetically and he brushed his hand off, scowling even deeply.

“Oh, Sehun,” D.O spoke up, “we don’t pick on you because you’re the maknae.”

“Yeah, we pick on you because you’re fun to pick on,” Baekhyun chimed in and began to laugh again.

Suho shook his head. “I mean, if you weren’t here, who’s going to entertain us whenever we’re bored?”

Sehun’s jaw dropped, not believing that even Suho, the one who always defended him and always told us not to make fun of Sehun, was now taking the enemies’ side. “Hyung! You’re supposed to be on my side!” he whined.

I laughed, patting his head. “Don’t worry, Sehun. I’ll be sure to bring back a couple of lacy G-strings for you.”

“HAHAHA!” everyone cracked up.

Sehun rolled his eyes. “You guys are so mature,” he muttered sarcastically under his breath.

“Anyway,” Suho spoke up once the laughter died down. “It’s time for lunch. Let’s go and eat. Food is waiting for us outside. I’m starving already.”

Later in the night, when I was doing last-minute packing, Chanyeol came into the room, leaning against the doorway. “Hi, can I join you?” he asked. He gestured outside to the living room. “Everyone is playing with the wii and I’m just bored because my turn ended.”

I scooted over my bed, making space. “So, what’s up?”

He smirked. “Man, I envy you. I wished I could go back down. I haven’t screwed a girl in so long.”

My shoulders shook. “Did you really enjoy wearing G-strings that much?”

He shoved me lightly and I stumbled a bit on the floor. But we were laughing. He helped me back up on my bed. “You know I don’t mean that.”

“Oh, sure, you liked it when a girl screamed your name, huh?”

He shrugged, obviously knowing that I was right. “Anyway, why do you think hyung and Exo-M’s leader hate each so much until they started this game?” he asked. “And why are they dragging us into it?”

I shrugged. “I’ve always wondered but I never got the answer,” I replied. “I did asked hyung once, but he gave me a good chuff behind my ear. I was temporarily deaf for a couple days.” I pointed to my left ear.

He pushed my head lightly. “I’m serious.”

“I’m serious too! You have no idea how hard it is to try depending on your right ear for hearing the whole time.” I made a face.

He laughed. But then he looked down. “Sometimes I wished I could stay there and not come back, having to face all of these things, the war and the heartbreaks. In fact, I actually hoped I was chosen.”

I shrugged. “You can take my place.”

He shook his head. “I doubt I could. Anyway, you should sleep. You’ve got a big day ahead of you tomorrow.” He stood up and was about to leave before he turned back with a sneaky smile. “And may the heartbreaks —” He tossed a sweet at me.

I caught the sweet nicely in my mouth and swallowed it whole. “— be ever in your favour,” I finished.

We laughed and he went out.

I finished packing everything and went to sleep. I closed my eyes, lying in my bed. I wonder what this year’s Game have in stall for me. . . .

Lu Han’s POV

I woke up the next morning, bright and early. I checked the time. It was four in the morning. I didn’t have to leave until six. I got up and found Kris not in bed. I walked out to the living room and saw that he was sitting on the sofa, staring at the blank television in front of him.

“Dui zhang?” I asked.

He looked up. “Oh, you’re up early.”

I shrugged. “Well, I have to leave at six,” I replied.

He nodded.

I sat down on an empty sofa. “How come you can’t sleep?” I asked him.

“I’m never able to sleep every time the Game is on,” he confessed. He stood up. “You should go bathe.” He went back into the room.

I frowned. He seemed as though he’s hiding something from me. But, oh wells. I sniffed myself and decided to listen to Kris. I did sort of stink. So I grabbed my towel and headed for the bathroom. When I came out, I was wearing a blue shirt and jeans.

I guess I don’t look too shabby.

Around five in the morning, Kris came back out into the living room. He looked at me and nodded appreciatively. “You look good,” he complimented me. “So, are you ready to play the Games?”

I nodded, a bubble of excitement flowing through my body. The Game is starting soon. “Yes, I am. Ready as ever,” I replied confidently.

He smiled, proud. He checked the time. “I should go wake the others up now,” he said and went inside the room. “WAKE UP! GET YOURSELF READY TO SAY GOODBYE TO LU HAN! HE’S LEAVING SOON!”

As usual, XiuMin and Tao fell off their beds from the top bunk while Chen and Lay just rolled off. They looked annoyed to have been woken up from their deep sleep and wonderful dream that they were having.

“Dui zhang, do you have to wake us up every morning like this?” Tao complained, stifling a yawn. “I’m getting tired of always falling off bed.”

“Who told you to roll over so close to the edge?” Chen muttered sleepily as the four boys made their way outside to the living room, still in their pajamas. He rubbed his eyes and yawned.

“Isn’t there any gentler way to wake us up?” XiuMin asked, not listening to Tao and Chen’s bicker. He was still holding onto his teddy bear in his arms. I shook my head. He still sleeps with a teddy!

Kris scoffed, folding his arms. “Why should I do that?” he replied. “If I’m gentle, you guys will go haywire. We need to keep discipline in the house otherwise everything will be very chaotic.”

“Everything is already chaotic with XiuMin and Tao here,” Lay mumbled. He was unfortunate to be standing in between of them because they hit him on both sides of his shoulders. “Ow! What? Isn’t it true? There is nothing peace-and-quiet-like in this place because of the both of you!”

“True,” Chen agreed. He took one really big step to the side to avoid getting whacked on the head by Tao.

“See?” Lay went on and XiuMin and Tao whacked him again. “Ow — XiuMin gege, hit me one more time and I’ll rip your teddy bear’s head off!”

XiuMin’s eyes went wide and he held his bear away from Lay, gasping. “Don’t worry, Teddy, I’ll protect you from mean, old Lay.” He pouted. “You know, for someone who has the power of healing, you sure are destructive. And I thought that you were Mr. Peacekeeper.” He held his bear even further away.

Tao and Chen chortled. Kris sighed wearily and I rolled my eyes.

Anyway,” Kris spoke up and the others broke away from their bickers long enough to turn to him, “Lu Han is about to leave so say your parting words then you guys can go back to sleep.”

“Goodbye, Lu Han! May the heartbreaks be ever in your favor! Okay, now I’m going back to sleep!” With a rush, the four of them all ran back into the room and scrambled to their beds to go back to sleep.

I shook my head, fighting back and smile. “Bye, idiots! Don’t give dui zhang a hard time while I’m gone.”

“Like that’ll ever happen with or without you here,” Kris muttered darkly. “Come on, it’s time to get you to the pothole.” He began making his way out and I followed him into another room where there was only one tube where it’ll transport me to my starting point.

The Game is about to begin.

I can sense this year, something different is going to happen.

Kai’s POV

I stepped into the room for what would be the last time until the Game is over. It was filled with darkness with the sounds of snores emitting from the mouths of D.O, Sehun, Chanyeol and Baekhyun.

“Bye, guys!”

“Bye,” they mumbled incoherently. “May the heartbreaks be ever in your favour.”

“Don’t forget my G-strings,” Sehun added.

I rolled my eyes. Even when he’s asleep, he’s still able to remember to ask me to get his G-strings for him. With a final wave even though they were all probably falling back asleep, I followed Suho.

No One’s POV

Both Kai and Lu Han were in their respective tubes, waiting to be transported as their leaders gave them final instructions — even though they would still be able to communicate through the watch they were both wearing.

Finally, they had five more seconds before they were transported to their starting points.

“May the heartbreaks be ever in your favour!” the leaders said to their representatives. “You better win and make me proud!”

Soon, the tubes began to go up . . . and Kai and Lu Han were transported to their starting point.

Let the Game begin!

Chapter 10: I like that she does not let YongGuk disrespect her but I'm a little annoyed as in how easy she let LuHan convince her and be as rude as YongGuk is (without the ual harrassment of course) and let it slide.
