Forced Decision

Love me, please...

“Please seat,” So In offered as he pointed at a black rounded cushion chair.

Yoseob nodded politely and sat carefully, trying his best to act normal although he was nervous.

“Don’t be scared. I won’t bite,” So In tried to joke to ease the tense situation.

Yoseob could just slightly smile to the joke as his heart was beating irregularly.

“I’m sure you know that Jieun just start with this singing and dancing,” So In started the serious conversation directly without a warning. It made Yoseob felt more burdened and nervous.

“I heard that you are a singer also a dancer,” So In stated out while looking at Yoseob reaction.

Yoseob just nodded, didn’t feel like voicing out.

“For how long?” So In simply asked, looking seriously at Yoseob.

“5 years,” Yoseob replied simply although his mind wanted to say out more. He was just not confident to speak out with this infamous composer.

“Quite long,” So In paused as he let his mind thinking. “You teach my daughter dancing, right?” So In continued after his small thought.

Yoseob smiled uncomfortably. “Not really, I’m just helping her with the steps,” Yoseob tried to say it as humble as he could.

“But she gets better, right?” So In emphasized.

“I think so,” Yoseob replied nervously. He was still wondering what actually this great composer tried to say.

“Would you like to be her personal instructor?” So In finally spoke out the main point.

“Personal instructor?” Yoseob was puzzled. What did that mean?

“Yes, both in singing and dancing. I notice that she has a great melancholic voice but she really need to fix her breathing and vocal pitch. I’m sure you know that she was bad at dancing,” So In explained more, trying to convince Yoseob that her daughter truly needed a guide.

“But I’m not a good singer myself. There are still a lot I need to learn. About dancing, I’m good at copying but creating a dance step myself is still an alien to me,” Yoseob finally spoke out his thought. He was flattered with the offer but seriously, he was not the right person for this.

“The thing is I can help her with her vocal but, I’m a busy person and I need help. About the dance, I’m sure for now, all she need is learning the basic. Plus, I’m afraid by calling a professional dancer as her trainer will affect her mother reputation as a great artist. Rumour about Eun Hee might be spread around and I’m worried that Jieun could not handle it,” So In tried his best to convince Yoseob by explaining in a very long sentences.

Yoseob was speechless. He wanted to say more to deny the offer but somehow he felt that he would loss to So In even after saying out his thought.

“We will pay you as much as you want,” So In tried to seduce Yoseob with cash although he knew it was not a good thing.

“I don’t need much money, sir,” Yoseob still tried to decline the offer.

“But Jiyong need it. Plus, I need you to stay with us when you are training Jieun,” So In sounded more serious.

Yoseob was confused and shocked when he heard that statement. A place to stay sounded better because their current apartment would be demolished soon. He was still searching for a cheap place to stay. However, to suddenly stay in someone else home, wouldn’t he be a burden? What about Jiyong? Could they accept him? Could Jiyong accept them?

“I might burden you, sir,” Yoseob spoke out in a low voice as he was uncertain.

“No, you are not. I just don’t want Jieun to stay at the practice room until late night. It’s dangerous for her to walk alone at night especially when it’s so late,” So In paused as he scanned Yoseob reaction.

So In was right. It was so dangerous for IU to walk alone in late night. Yoseob sighed. How could he ignore this fact?

“So, I prefer she practice at home. We do have a proper practice room and it’s empty for a very long time. Since now, Eun Hee mostly focuses on her acting,” So In continued as he saw that Yoseob almost fell for his trick. Just a bit more, he thought.

In hesitated, Yoseob nodded his head. It was a forced decision for Jiyong’s sake.

“Good!” So In exclaimed excitedly. His plan was a success. He was sure that Jieun and Eun Hee would be happy to hear this too.

“I hope you can start by tonight,” So In continued. He didn’t really mean start practicing by tonight. He just wanted Jiyong and Yoseob both stayed that night.

***********

Yoseob walked down the stairs weakly. He could listen to the sound from the television. He turned to the living room and saw IU was sitting on the long sofa while Jiyong was laying on her lap, most probably sleeping. He smiled slightly, thinking that Jiyong was having a very great time today.

In sudden, IU turned to him. Instantly, she smiled. Her worried slowly disappear as it was replaced by a contented feeling.

Yoseob returned the smile, slowly walked towards her.

Unexpectedly, IU frowned. “How is it? Is he mad?” She asked in worried.

“No, he is not,” Yoseob replied simply. He wanted to tell more but he was not sure how to say it out.

“He usually soft and gentle but I’m still worried,” IU continued in her worried tone.

“He wants me to be your personal instructor,” Yoseob said it plainly. However, he was anticipated to her reaction.

IU shocked as her eyes widened. Was it true? Her dad wanted Yoseob to be her personal instructor. IU blinked her eyes and turned away, ashamed with her shocked reaction.

“Do you accept it?” she asked slowly. Her mind chanting that he said yes.

“Yes,”

IU was not sure whether it was out of her mind or it was truly from Yoseob. So, she turned to Yoseob and asked it again.

With a smile, Yoseob answered for the second time. “Yes,”

IU quickly released a heavy sigh. She didn’t sure how to react. She was happy and excited. She was not exactly sure what was personal instructor but she knew that meant she and Yoseob would have a lot of time together.

“When will you confess to him?”

Suzy question suddenly popped out in her mind. IU looked at the smiling Yoseob and turned to Jiyong. Suzy was right, she needed to tell Yoseob how she felt towards him. However, she was scared that the confession would affect their friendship. Now, everything was running smoothly and she was scared that the confession would ruin it instead of making it better.

Should I confess?
