It was evening. The cold autumn wind was blowing. Kikwang and Suzy were linking hands, strolling at a park, around a lake. Kikwang brought a DSLR where he hung at his neck. It was silent between them, a comfortable silent. However, Suzy was thinking to ask him about something. Still, she couldn’t.

Does he really love me? She thought. Their relationship might not that long but she never heard Kikwang said that words, ‘I love you’. He didn’t even say ‘I like you’. He did call her ‘pretty’, ‘beautiful’ and ‘cute’. However, that was all just physical appearances. Did he sincerely love her as herself? Not just her appearance. Should she ask him? But she was scared. She was scared that the answer would be painful, or she would make Kikwang confused, or he would be hurt.

She released a heavy sighed.

“What’s wrong, baby?” Kikwang asked as he noticed her sighed.  

Suzy turned to Kikwang, smiled and shook her head. She was not ready to hear the answer or destroy their new relationship.

Kikwang replied the smile. “Why don’t you stand beside the lake? I want to take the picture of beautiful you,”

Beautiful again. She thought. Suzy smiled brightly, faking. “Okay,” She said cheerfully, acting excited.

She walked towards the side of the lake and stood there, smiling while Kikwang took her picture. Kikwang smiled as he saw Suzy through the lenses. She was truly a goddess and couldn’t even be compared to the beautiful scenery of the lake. After few clicks, Kikwang walked towards Suzy, wanted to show the pretty photos to her.

Suzy smiled, waiting for Kikwang. She took her left leg to the back. Her heart skipped a bit when she started to notice that there was only empty air behind her. She quickly closed her eyes, preparing to fall into the cold water. However, she didn’t. Her hand was pulled forward and her lips touched something. Her lips touched something? Suzy quickly opened her eyes. Her heartbeat fastened.

Kikwang saw the almost falling scene and quickly pulled Suzy forward but somehow, he kissed her. It was not fully coincidence. He was thinking when to start an official ‘skinship’ besides holding hands. He never thought it would turn out this way. However, while he was pulling her, it happened. He just felt like kissing her at that time.

It only last for few seconds. It should be called a peck instead of kiss. However, Kikwang was happy, watching the surprised and blushing Suzy.

“I love you,” He whispered softly right after the peck.

Suzy gasped as she heard those words. Words that she was waiting before. Words that she thought would be impossible to be heard. Tears suddenly filled up the bottom of her eyes. She smiled, satisfied and happy.

“Why dear? Why do you cry?” Kikwang panicked. Did he make a wrong step to kiss her?

Suzy shook her head. Her tears already dropped to her chin. She quickly hugged him and whispered. “I love you too, Oppa,”

Yoseob walked to the living room, as he didn’t feel comfortable waiting in the kitchen alone. He saw a middle-aged woman stood in front of the door. The woman looked at him and smiled. Yoseob knew that woman. She was IU’s mother, an artist, singer and actor. Yoseob replied the smile, suddenly felt nervous.

IU was gladded that Yoseob came to the living room. When her mom asked her about Jiyong, she started to realize that she said something suspicious. She started to feel guilty.

“I hope you don’t misunderstand. I don’t want anyone to pity me, I even hate it. So, please keep this as a secret,” Yoseob said to IU strictly.

IU wiped her tears and nodded. “Okay,”

IU bit her lower lips. What should she do? Tell her mom the truth and broke the promise or lied to her mom and protected the promise.

“Why don’t you introduce to me this pretty boy, Jieun-ah?” Eun Hee said out, smiling.

IU was surprised. Her mom was acting nicely. Didn’t she angry that she was friend with someone that was suspicious?

Yoseob smiled when Eun Hee labelled him as ‘pretty boy’. He knew he was cute but pretty boy was for someone handsome and manly. That was what he thought. Still, he was flattered.

“This is Yoseob,” IU said hesitatingly, pointing to Yoseob.

“Yoseob, this is my mother,” IU pointed to her mother but not looking at Yoseob, scared that he would notice her guilty feeling.

Yoseob bowed politely and Eun Hee replied it with a nod of her head.

“So you are the one who is helping Jieun with dinner?” Eun Hee asked kindly.

“Yes, ahjumma,” Yoseob replied politely.

Eun Hee chuckled. “People rarely call me ahjumma,”

“I’m sorry,” Yoseob suddenly panicked. She was an artist, still beautiful and pretty as ever. Who would call her ahjumma.

“It’s okay. It is a proper calling after all,” Eun Hee replied with a smile. “Anyway, is that your son?”

Yoseob was surprised. He looked at IU who was looking away. He sighed. He couldn’t blame her. Jiyong was sleeping at the most obvious place ever and her mother must asked her about Jiyong.

Yoseob nodded.

“Her mother?” Eun Hee asked softly, not wanting to hurt the guy who was her daughter friend.

IU was shocked with the question. What would Yoseob answer? It was all her fault. Babo IU. Babo, babo, babo. She thought to herself.

“She left him,” Yoseob answered honestly.

Eun Hee smiled gently. “It must be hard on you to take care of him alone,”

Yoseob kept silent, clueless of what to say.

Eun Hee didn’t say more. She turned to IU. “I’ll wash up first. Then, I’ll help you, okay?” Then, she walked towards the stairs, leaving IU and Yoseob alone.

IU sighed. Yoseob must have a hard time answering all those questions. “I’m sorry,” she apologized humbly.

“It’s okay. Let’s finish the dinner,” Yoseob said bluntly. He couldn’t blame her however he didn’t know how to comfort her. All that he knew was singing and asking her to keep crying. He never comforted a girl before.

IU sighed again. She felt truly guilty and somehow she felt that Yoseob was angry with her. She bit her lower lips again. How can she fix this? Now, her mother misunderstood Yoseob. Luckily, she was not angry. Still, now Yoseob was mad with her.

Eun Hee felt pity to Yoseob. She didn’t blame him. She had done the same mistake before. It must be hard on him. She had felt the hard moment before and she knew how painful and difficult it was. Especially, Yoseob was still a student. Eun Hee smiled. He must be a very caring person as he dared to take the risk to take care of that little boy. How did he live? Did he still live with his parents? Eun Hee frowned. If he did live with his parents, he would leave Jiyong at his house? Jiyong must be so tired that he slept silently, not moving even when they were talking beside him. So he was living alone with Jiyong?

Eun Hee sighed, suddenly thought of Jieun. How she met him? Jieun never so closed with a guy before as she was a shy girl. Did he someone special to her? He must be. That was why she brought Yoseob to this house. Did Jiyong accept her? Most importantly, will Jieun accept Jiyong? Since Jiyong was not her.

So In accept her as if she is his own daughter. Eun Hee thought. Might be, Jieun would inherit that soft spot of So In even though she was not biological related to him. Since Jieun was so close with him.

Eun Hee felt the urge to know more about Yoseob but she knew she couldn’t ask him directly. Should she ask Jieun? Maybe she should. She was her daughter after all.

She walked to the phone in her room, pushing some buttons and waited.

“Hello,” Jieun answered through the other line from the phone in the kitchen.

“Can you come to my room? I need you help,” Eun Hee said carefully, frightened that Yoseob would hear.

“Okay,” Jieun answered simply.
