Chanyeol stared at Haneul's door numbly, wanting so badly to ring the doorbell again but he knew that if he did, he would just be messing things up even more. And moreover, he wasn't even sure what he was feeling at the moment, realization and denial both swirling inside his head and guilt and anger directed towards himself was away at his insides. His chest felt hollow, it has for some time now but now it just felt more hollow than ever.

And he was so scared and panicked that half of the things he said – confessed – didn't go through his brain at all, so he was now going over each and every word that's left his mouth. It left him thinking. When he finally managed to get himself to walk back to the elevator, his footsteps came to a halt when he saw a familiar figure leaning against the wall opposite the elevators.

“Jongin...”

The younger lifted his head.

“What...how...” He stammered, then his eyes widened in fear and alarm. “How much did you hear?”

“I was already here before she slapped you.” He gave him a sad smile and walked over to him, his eyes searched his for a moment before he asked in a small whisper. “How deep are you really in, hyung?”

Half a month's passed since that night, and it's been that long since she's last seen or heard from Chanyeol. He didn't stop by at Halcyon or anything, he simply stayed clear of her. She was still in touch with the others, though, with them occasionally dropping by the cafe to eat while she was working. Jongin would come over once in a while if he was alone at home, Kyungsoo came along one time and made Kimchi spaghetti, which made her night.

But none of them brought up Chanyeol, not even once.

That night, when they both got back to the apartment, Jongin didn't go back into his room but instead, he joined Chanyeol in his. Jongdae was asleep, he was a heavy sleeper so he didn't even notice Jongin's absence until he woke up the next morning.

Chanyeol told Jongin everything, from the Christmas night to the beach trip and then to the kiss at her doorstep a month ago.
