Chanyeol seemed perfect happy with Haneul’s proposal.

“Hey.” Haneul kept her phone between her ear and shoulder as she finished securing her hair into a high ponytail with a scrunchie.

“You’re up already?” His voice was deep and slightly groggy but still held his characteristic bright tone nontheless. “And I thought I was going to be your morning call.”

She let out a soft laugh. “Not today.” Both of them didn’t have classes in the morning today, but her sleeping pattern was already so messed up from test season that she woke up at seven-thirty and couldn’t go back to sleep. Padding back into her bedroom, she made her way to the closet and opened the doors, eyes scanning through each piece of clothing for what to wear. “You’re up later than usual.” She noted.

“Uh yeah. I stayed up to finish composing for uh – nevermind.” He said dismissively then asked. “When will you be ready to go?”

“Shouldn’t I be asking you that?”

“Please.” She could practically hear him rolling his eyes. “I’m a guy.”

“Fair enough, probably in about ten minutes?”

“Okay, I’ll see you at the bus stop?”

“Yup.”

“Okay.”

Chanyeol ended the call and stretched his stiff limbs, feeling like he’s aged ten years in the past week. Despite not having to cramp for his tests like Haneul had to, prolonged hours of studying and composing until late at night was starting to take a toll on him.

He stood up, kicking over one of the pillows that fell off the bed when Jongin appeared, poking his head out from the bathroom door with a face towel in his hands.

“You going out?” His roommate asked.

“Yeah, I’m having breakfast with Haneul.”

“Oh I thought you were buying it for her.” Jongin made way as he entered the bathroom.

“Apparently she doesn’t feel comfortable with me buying breakfast for her every morning so we’re switching things up.” Chanyeol fumbled for the toothbrush with the green handle and squeezed a generous amount of Colgate toothpaste onto it. He added almost brilliantly. “That way she gets what she wants, and I get to make sure that she’s eating and being healthly.”

Jongin didn’t say anything right away; instead, he only smiled and placed the folded damp towel back onto the counter by the sink.

And it was a mistake on Chanyeol’s part not to wait for a response before putting the toothbrush into his mouth.
