Eunhyuk’s POV

Days have passed since Teukie hyung’s engagement to Kangin hyung. During the time I spent with them (and Donghae, since they always insist that I bring him along), they have only managed to get closer and closer to each other, sometimes making me feel like the third wheel and Donghae probably the fourth. Not that we really minded, though. Hae and I could talk about anything under the sky when plenty of people are around; we’re only awkward when we’re left alone with each other.

Seeing them all lovey-dovey always makes me smile so much on the inside. Sometimes I wonder if this is what I’ll do with Hae in the near future… If we ever have a future together, that is. I still haven’t mustered up enough courage to tell him personally yet. I wanted it to be special and all, but my memories were still haunting me down to this very day.

*Flashback*

It was already a few years ago since I broke up with my ex-boyfriend. I had a half-day off from work and planned to surprise Junsu back at home. He was supposed to be sick so he didn’t go for work that day. I stopped by a florist to pick up a small bouquet of flowers before making my way home. Upon reaching my apartment, I quietly inserted the key to give him a complete surprise.

When I swung open the door, however, I was shocked beyond belief. My boyfriend was in the middle of the living room, in the hands of another man, kissing the living daylights out of him. I froze and let the flowers drop to the floor, making a swishing sound. Junsu immediately pulled out of the kiss and glanced towards where I was standing, his eyes growing bigger by every second, his mouth forming into a silent ‘O’. His partner also looked my way, gave a shrug and untangled himself from the embrace before heading out the door, not forgetting to give me an evil smirk as he left.

I could feel the anger, jealousy and betrayal boiling inside me. Junsu didn’t dare to look me in the eyes for the whole ten minutes I stood rooted to my spot. When I finally came to my senses, I shakily lifted a finger to point at him, my breath ragged from anger.

“You… What have you done?”

“…”

“ANSWER ME!!!!”

Tears welled up in his eyes but I couldn’t care less. I wanted an explanation from him right there and then.

“WHAT WAS THAT? WHO WAS HE? HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SEEING HIM BEHIND MY BACK?”

“I… It was… a misunderstanding!! You don’t understand…”

“WHO IS HE??”

Junsu gave a huff before answering me.

“Shim Changmin, my colleague from work…”

“HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SEEING HIM??”

“I… We… No you’ve got it all wrong!! We’re not dating, I swear!!”

“THEN WHAT WAS THAT?? YOU WERE KISSING HIM!! IN MY APARTMENT!!”

Junsu only flinched at my yelling as tears rolled down his cheeks.

“KIM JUNSU!! ANSWER ME!!”

“YAHH!!! STOP YELLING AT ME LIKE THAT!! I TOLD YOU, IT WAS A MISUNDERSTANDING!!” He yelled back. He was shuddering from his uncontrollable sobbing now and collapsed to the floor in a pile, face buried in his hands.

I took a huge breath, trying to calm myself down at least a little and I spoke in a lower voice, but I couldn’t help myself from shaking.

“What… What’s going on, Xiah?”

He suddenly flared up and hissed at me.

“You know what, this was entirely your fault!! You never had time for me, all you were concerned about was work, work, work!!! You never thought how I would feel, coming back every day to an empty apartment only just to sleep alone!! Other people actually treat me better than you, you’re such a JERK!! I HATE YOU!!!” He shouted the last sentence and tore out of the door.

I stayed still in my position, trying to digest what he just said. I regretted everything I did and immediately ran out after him but he was nowhere to be found. After searching for him for hours, I finally gave up and returned to my apartment. My handphone suddenly vibrated and I saw that I had a message from an unknown number. I swiped at the screen to read the message.

Reality sunk in. I held my head in my hands and crumbled to the floor. I started bailing my eyes out and wept uncontrollably. His last words kept ringing in my head, telling me that whom I thought was the love of my life was disappearing out of my life… for good. I had never loved anyone as much as I loved him before, but after being hurt so bad, I never thought that I could ever trust anybody like that anymore.
