Author’s POV
It has been almost two months since the last incident that happened to Donghae. He never showed any more symptoms of hypothermia and had been given a clean bill of health from the doctor. Both Donghae and Eunhyuk were already back to work in the lab, although a little distractedly because Donghae would suddenly run off with Eunhyuk’s pen, making them chase all over the lab; or Eunhyuk would suddenly corner Donghae and steal a kiss or two from him, causing the younger to blush furiously when he did that. The aquariums were one of their favourite hangout places during lunch break now and they always went to visit little Nemo whenever they could.
Donghae was sitting on the ground in front of the tropical fish tank with his nose pressed against the glass, his eyes following the multi-coloured fish swimming by. A butterfly fish seemed to be staring at him as it swam right up to him and stayed there. He stared back, unknowingly making it a staring competition. When his eyes started to tear up, he blinked his stinging eyes while huffing, a little disappointed that he had lost to a fish in a staring competition. The fish seemed to realize that it won as it swam away with a slightly smug but still indifferent expression. Donghae folded his arms and pouted, looking away from the stupid fish. The fish looked back at him. Sore loser, it seemed to think.
Donghae glanced at his watch for a few times. A good fifteen minutes had passed, but Eunhyuk was still nowhere in sight. What was taking him so long? The boss just wanted to see him for a while, but it was just another half an hour before lunch break would be over. Donghae sighed and rubbed his rumbling tummy. Perhaps he should walk over to the cafeteria himself and see what was on the menu for today. He pushed himself off the floor and strode towards the exit with his hands in his pockets.
Stepping into the cafeteria, he took in a huge breath of the freshly brewed coffee and let out a happy sigh. Usually he wasn’t hungry, but somehow today was an exception. He walked up to the counter and ordered a cup of hot chocolate and a strawberry sponge cake. He found an empty booth at the back of the place and headed towards it with his food. Donghae sat down comfortably and took a bite of his food. Closing his eyes, he let the strawberry cake seemingly melt in his mouth. Ahh, sheer heaven.
He opened his eyes and his gaze landed on a familiar presence in the cafeteria. He recognized his Leeteuk hyung and Kangin hyung who seemed to be looking for a place to sit. He beckoned for them to come over. “Teukie hyung, Kangin hyung!!”
They spotted him and waved back. Seeing the three vacant seats at Donghae’s table, they started walking over. Soon, the three men were sitting happily around the square table with their food spread all over the table. Apparently, Leeteuk had been trying out a few recipes back home and today he brought some of the mouth-watering pastries to work. He offered some to Donghae who happily accepted.
“Oh my, Teukie hyung, they are delicious!!” Donghae exclaimed and a few crumbs that landed on his lips. “What are they?”
Leeteuk grinned, happy that he could brag (a little). He pointed at one after another, rambling off their names with much pride.
“This is a mille-feuille, those are called macarons, this is called Etat de Choc, and those are chocolate éclairs,” he said all at once, slig
