He sat lifelessly. His gaze out the window, but there was no life in him. It was as if his soul was pulled from him the moment he stepped foot onto the plane. Who was he kidding? His heart was left there in Seoul. The only thing that was killing him on the inside right now was the fact that he could've turned around and let her run into his arms, but he chose to ignore her, and he chose this path of leaving the place where his heart had planted itself.

Of course, Luhan had heard her call his name. He knew she was there when he entered the gate. He had spotted her. The minute he spotted Baekhyun at the airport, he knew what was going on. Baekhyun had told her when Luhan had told him not to.

He remembered the relief that came across Baekhyun's face.

| "Luhan!" A smile ran across Baekhyun's face. He jogged towards him. "I finally found you!"

"What are you doing here?" Luhan stood his ground cautiously. He noticed his friend's short-of-breath. He had already guessed the answer to his question, but he wanted to hear it from his friend's own lips.

 Baekhyun pursed his lips. "I'm here with Soyoung." He paused before continuing. "I know you told me not to tell her, but I couldn't help it. I didn't want you to leave without saying good bye to her. Imagine how hurt she would be if she found out you went to China without saying good byes or see you later? Just because you guys are in a bad situation right now doesn't mean you just do your own thing. You're still friends."

A part of Luhan wanted to thank Baekhyun, but another part wanted to punch Baekhyun's dumb self for letting her know. There was a reason why he didn't want her to know.

"Take her and go back home." Luhan was firm with his words. He didn't hesitate to speak them no matter how harsh they had sounded. "I'm not going to say any good byes, especially to her."

Baekhyun frowned. "You have no idea how worried she was when I told her about you. She was literally panicking, Luhan."

"That was your fault for making her worried." Luhan gripped his suitcase handle. "Baekhyun, don't make this anymore harder than it is for me."

"Flight to Beijing, China at 4 AM will take off in five minutes. Flight to Beijing, China at 4 AM will be taking off in five minutes."

The announcement caused Baekhyun to internally panic. There wasn't much time left, and he wasn't sure how he should let her know that he found Luhan.

"You're making it hard for her." Baekhyun bit his lower lip. "Especially if you just leave like that. She'll think you left because of her." Then he realized what he had said. Luhan really was leaving because of Soyoung, that was a dead give away.

"I confessed to her." Luhan told him softly. "If I face her before I leave, I don't think I'll be able to make it on the plane at all."

"When did you confess to her?!" Baekhyun shared a moment of silent happiness, yet, that happiness was vigorously fighting against frustration. He realized this wasn't the point. "Wait, no. Screw that information for now." He cleared his throat. "If you leave, when are you coming back?" It was a question he had been wanting to ask.

It was a question that Luhan trampled over. There was no exact answer yet. "I don't know."

"What do you mean you don't know?" Baekhyun knew this would be his answer. He had known, but hearing it directly from Luhan made him even more concern. "You have to know, Luhan. You can't just leave without knowing when you'll be coming back."

"I'm still unsure about what path I'll be taking." Luhan averted eyes. "I told you, I don't want to be a burden to Soyoung and Taemin."

"So this is your escape?" Baekhyun countered bravely.

"Flight to Beijing, China at 4 AM will take off in three minutes. Flight to Beijing, China at 4 AM will be taking off in three minutes."

"Just because you're leaving far away from Soyoung, it doesn't mean that your feelings for her will stop. If you think China will help you escape those feelings of yours, then you're wrong. If anything, it'll only make you suffer, and it'll make those feelings grow stronger, because you'll miss her more."

Luhan shook his head slightly. "You forgot that Yun Yi's there in Beijing."

"So what?" Baekhyun snickered. "So what if she's there? What? You think being with Yun Yi will help you get rid of your feelings for Soyoung?"

"I've liked Yun Yi for five years plus. If anyone can help me get rid of my feelings for Soyoung, it's Yun Yi." Luhan didn't waste time and explained his thought process. "We don't choose who you come to like or love. It just happens. Ever since I arrived back in Seoul, I developed feelings for Soyoung and suddenly lost my feelings for Yun Yi. You've said it before that Soyoung only likes Taemin because he's someone different from us. I finally understood what you had meant, and I've connected it to my situation. What if I only developed feelings for Soyoung because she's someone new to me. She's someone different from Yun Yi."

"So you're thinking that what you've developed for Soyoung is only an infatuation, and that if you return to Yun Yi's side, that infatuation will disappear?" Baekhyun snickered with a slight roll of the eyes. "Sure, okay. Let's say you go back and it turns out you're right. Your feelings for Soyoung aren't true, and your feelings for Yun Yi remains. What are you going to do then? Will you stay there and spend your life there with Yun Yi? And now let's say that you're wrong, that you're feelings for Soyoung stay and it's final that your feelings for Yun Yi will never return. What will you do then? Will you stay in Beijing to prevent yourself from coming in between her and Taemin? Is that what you're going to do? You're going to end up staying in Beijing anyways, aren't you? You're going to end up spending your life there? Is that what you're saying?"

He was spitting words of anger. Baekhyun couldn't help but release his anger, because not only would this leave affect Soyoung, but it would also affect the boys as well especially because no one had expected him to leave for a lengthy time.

Luhan pursed his lips. "I'm still not sure of what to do yet." Hope filled his eyes and he locked eyes with Baekhyun. "But no matter what, I'll come back. If after going back to Beijing, and finding out that my feelings for Soyoung really wouldn't change, I'll come back and face everything. Just let me go back and get a breather. I need time to think things through. Once I'm finalized with my thoughts, I'll come back. I promise, it won't take long. Two months at the longest. No. Just give me one month. One month is all I need, Baekhyun."

"You're really going to go no matter what, aren't you? I won't be able to stop you, will I? No matter what I say."

Luhan could detect disappoint from Baekhyun's tone, but he also detected agreement. To his question, Luhan nodded. He wasn't happy with his decision either, but if he was going to continue in life, this would be the first step to step over the rock that blocked his path. His eyes flew to the crowded airport, and from a distance, he spotted Soyoung, who was still restlessly looking for him. Luhan swallowed and locked eyes with Baekhyun.

"Just one month, Baekhyun. Please help me with this." Luhan gave him a firm pat on his shoulder. "I'll be leaving now. For the meantime, take care of the others for me, and especially take care of Soyoung. Be there for her, like you had always been."

Then he took a step back, and another, then he turned around and moved towards the gate, and even when he heard that beautiful voice, straining and calling out for him, Luhan didn't turn back. With a heavy heart, he forced himself to go through and pass the gate. Even when he had heard her voice call for him, he left her. |

He parked in front of her house, then he glanced over at her, who stared out blankly. The tears that once stained her cheeks were long gone, but the pain that she received was written all over her face. She hadn't even realized that she was already right in front of her house, and that was what hurt Baekyun the most.

Their main priority for going to the airport was to stop Luhan and to bring him back, but last-minute, as if best friends were on the battle field together, one turned against the other. Baekhyun knew the guilt of holding Soyoung back would be there until Luhan comes back, and if, by the time Luhan comes back, Soyoung wouldn't forgive him, the guilt would be there forever.

He quietly sighed and reached over to take off her seatbelt. That was the action that helped her bring herself from her thoughts. Then she realized that they were already in front of her house.

Soyoung took in a sharp breath and pulled her coat over her chest and tightened it around her body. "Thanks for bringing me back." She spoke quietly. She didn't look him in the eye. "Have a good day."

She reached for the door handle.

"He said give him a month." Baekhyun blurted. It was the guilt that made him speak. "He'll be back in a month."

Soyoung paused and tightened her grasp on the handle. "A month. . . Should I be looking forward to the day when he comes back?"

Her words had stunned Baekhyun.

Soyoung turned her head to look him in the eyes. At the sight of her fragile state, Baekhyun softened. She gave him a weak smile. "Don't worry about me. I'm not mad at you for stopping me. Maybe things would be better this way anyways. The only thing I regret a of now is not realizing my feelings for him in the first place, and that I've been denying it all along when you were right about my feelings."

"Are you saying you like Luhan?" Baekhyun was beyond shock at the fact that she had just admitted those feelings. Things were finally getting into place. The missing pieces to the puzzle are finally being figured out.

"It's not like I can deny them forever." Soyoung gave a shaky sigh. "You've asked me before, if I would be okay without Luhan. My answer, even now, is still the same. I'll be fine without him. I'm Kim Soyoung. Kim Soyoung doesn't just die over anyone." She forced another smile on. "Until he comes back, I'll be fine, and even after he returns, I'll be fine. It's not like he's going forever, and he won't come back."

Baekhyun softened, and he gave a slight nod. "you're right, you'll be fine. Why did I even worry over nothing." He gave her a smile and patted her back. "Go back and rest. I think I woke you up a little too early for your liking."

Soyoung didn't respond, and instead, gave a petite nod before she went inside her home.

Upon entering her house, she locked up and treaded up the stairs to her room. Slowly and lifelessly, she took off her coat and threw it onto her bed. She plopped down onto her bed with a heavy sigh.

She recalled the way Luhan had left just like that.

*He heard me call his name.* She thought to herself. "I know he heard me." *But he didn't turn back around.*

She rubbed her face into the palms of her hands, and when she looked back up, she spotted the black velvet box that contained her gift for Luhan as his Secret Santa. Unknowingly, her body moved on its own, and by the time she knew it, she was by her desk with the black velvet box in her hands. The feeling she received when holding the special box in her hands emitted sparks in her heart. Butterflies were, once again, all over the place.

She exhaled with a shaky breath. "It would've been nice if you had let me give you your gift first."

She opened up the top to see the necklace that resembled the one around her neck. The only difference between the necklace he had given her, and this gift for him, was that Luhan had engraved Soyoung's name onto the necklace, and the necklace that Soyoung wanted to give him had his name engraved on it. She caressed the pendent with her fore finger, and as if it would break with the softest touch, she gently and carefully took out the necklace. She undid the clasp before putting the necklace on top of hers and wrapping the necklace around her neck, clipping the clasp together once again. Her hands flew to both pendants that were hanging loosely onto the necklaces around her neck.

Soyoung glanced up into the mirror that reflected her once fragile state. The necklaces that hung around her neck seemed to be perfectly in place, and just seeing them seemed to have given her more strength. "I'll hang onto this until you come back," she whispered with a smile.

She glanced at her phone on the desk, and she gulped. There was one more thing to do, and she was only hoping that the man she was thinking about would be okay with her decision.

Soyoung reached for her phone, and when she did, she went to her contact list, looking for a specific name, and once she did, she called him, and when he answered on the third ring, she could only hope that she wouldn't break him too much.

"Hi, Taemin. This is Soyoung. I want to talk to you about something."

"Mei Lien! Look who's here!"

Her mother excitedly shook the tired girl awake. Mei Lien groaned, not wanting to get up.

"Mommy, let me sleep. I'm tired," she mumbled, pulling the blankets over her.

"Come on, Mei Lien!" Her mother urged with a great smile. "Luhan gege is here!"

At the mention of Luhan, Mei Lien sat right up. Did she hear right? There was no way Luhan would be here. It couldn't be. She looked over at her doorway to see the handsome man standing there, arms crossed over his chest with a gentle smile on his face. As stun as she was, Mei Lien couldn't help but leap in the air and ran over to him as he crouched down with open arms.

"Luhan gege!" Mei Lien shouted of glee as she ran to his arms, throwing her arms around his neck.

Luhan warpped his arms around her petite body, squeezing her into a grateful hug. "Hey, Mei Lien. I missed you."

"I missed you more!" She argued as she tightened her arms around him. "I dreamt that you came back to Beijing! I knew my dream wasn't just a random dream!"

Luhan laughed a light one and pulled back, ruffling her hair. "Your dream definitely didn't fail you. How have you been?"

At the mention of life, she frowned deeply. "It's so boring around here without you, gege. There's no one to play with. Yun Yi is too busy with college life, and daddy and mommy won't let me go outside, because it's too cold. Did the others come with you? I missed all of them!"

Luhan gave her a soft smile. "It's just me this time. The other geges are still in Korea. They'll pay a visit soon though, I promise."

"That's great, if they're coming soon! I can't wait to see them again!" Mei Lien grinned happily, but was pulled away from her mother.

"Honey, we have to get you ready for the day. Come on," her mother pulled her.

"But I'm not done talking to Luhan ge," Mei Lien protested.

Luhan took Mei Lien by the hand and volunteered, "I got it, Mrs. Wu. I'll help Mei Lien wash up."

"Yeah! Let Luhan ge help me instead!" Without letting her mother have a say, Mei Lien dragged Luhan over to the bathroom. "Come on, ge! We need to hurry and help me wash up so that I can play with you for a very very long time!"

Luhan chuckled at her cute actions. It's been quite a long time since seeing her, and he was glad that he chose to come here before anywhere else. If anyone could help brighten his day without even trying, it was Mei Lien. "Alright, alright. Let's get you washed up and ready to go." He helped lifted her up onto the stool, and turned the warm water on. With Luhan's help, the two got Mei Lien all washed up and ready for the day.

"Does Yun Yi know that you're here?" Mei Lien wondered as Luhan gave her a facial wash cloth, helping her wipe the water from her face.

"You were the first one to know after your mom and dad," Luhan assured her with a smile, putting the facial wash cloth aside.

"Really?! That's awesome! I need to go tell her--"

"No need to. I already know," A familiar voice spoke from the doorway.

Luhan and Mei Lien looked over to see the woman standing by the doorway. Joy was written across her face, and a gentle smile was displayed on her face. Right away, after seeing her, Luhan had noticed something. His heart wasn't beating how it used to when he saw her in the past. His heart wasn't beating like how it beated for Soyoung.

"Hey, long time no see," Luhan greeted with a grin, putting his thoughts aside.

"Yeah, so tell me about this surprise visit." Yun Yi crossed her arms over her chest.

"It's late, but Merry Christmas?" Luhan held back a laugh as he straightened up. "I'm your present."

Though she gave a roll of her eyes, Yun Yi had to admit, it was nice to see Luhan again. "Wow, you gave me such a lame present then, if you're really telling the truth."

"It's okay, Luhan ge," Mei Lien intervened. "If Yun Yi doesn't want you, then I'll keep you. I think you're perfect as a Christmas gift."

"At least Mei Lien doesn't think I'm lame." Luhan playfully stuck out his tongue for show in front of the little girl, who beamed happily.

"Right," Yun Yi scoffed with a smile. "Mei Lien, go get dressed. You can come play with Luhan after we have breakfast."

"Alright!" She happily ran to her room to get started with her day.

The second Mei Lien closed her door, the smile slipped away from Yun Yi's face. It wasn't that the smile she gave was fake, but rather overtaken by concern instead. "I'm surprised you're here without a call."

Luhan managed a grin and a shrug. "I just wanted to surprise you guys."

"Where's the rest of the guys?" Yun Yi straightened. "They're not here, are they?"

"It's just me, but I'm still fun to be with, so it's okay, right?" Luhan approached her, then he pulled Yun Yi into a tight hug. "I missed you and Mei Lien."

And with that hug, he listened intently to the way his heart was working.

Ba-Bump. Ba-Bump. Ba-Bump.

Nothing. It was just the usual pulse. Nothing special was going on in his chest. Nothing of clanks, and no acceleration. It wasn't acting how it used to. It wasn't acting how it was when he was with Soyoung.

Yun Yi sighed and gave him a quick hug before pulling back. "Something's off about you."

"Something's off about you too," Luhan pointed out. "You're warmer."

"That's because I just got out from under my blankets." She rolled her eyes.

"No, I don't mean it literally. I meant that you're warmer. You're see to have warmed up a lot in terms of interacting with people." Luhan gave her a smile and ruffled her hair. "That's a definite plus to your personality. Now, more boys will want to hang out around you."

"The only boys who had been tough enough hang around me were you 6 dorks." Yun Yi pushed his playful hand away from her well-done hair. "And that probably won't change anytime soon. Enough about me, and more about you. What is the real reason taht you're here?"

"What are you talking about?" Luhan raised his brows, feigning innocent.

"Luhan, I'm not dumb, and you know that. Like you would really come here just to visit for Christmas." She narrowed her eyes. "Did something happen with you and the guys? Are you running away from your problems?"

*Did something happen between me and the boys? No. Am I running away from my problems though? No. Well. Sort of. Maybe. okay, yes, I am.* He swallowed and averted eyes, trying to find something to do. He picked up the facial wash cloth from before and folded it. "Nope, nothing's wrong. I really am just here to visit." He put the folded wash cloth on the counter and locked eyes onto the female once again, a smile radiating from him. "Why? Are you not happy that I'm here?"

Yun Yi bit her lower lip. Though she didn't believe him, and was still suspicious of him, she no longer questioned him and returned the smile. "I'm happy. It's glad to see you back. When will you return to Seoul?"

Luhan just smiled in response.

It's a very short chapter! I know it too, so I apologize for that! On the bright side, we meet Mei Lien & Yun Yi again! Yun Yi doesn't sound so bad anymore, does she? Haha. Anyways, I just want you all to know that I read EVERY SINGLE COMMENT. I really do, I swear! & I enjoy every single comment I have read since day one of this story! There are many times in which I don't reply, and most of the time, that's because I tell myself that I will come back to reply, but I end up forgetting, or I end up having other things I have to do, so I tell myself to reply AFTER doing those things, and like the other, I forget, so I apologize! :x  ANYWAYS! On a brighter note, we now know why Baekhyun didn't stop Luhan! Are you guys still mad at Baek? And as for Soyoung, what do you think she did when she called Taemin? Kekeke.
