Chapter 10

JUST Common Sense

No One's POV

“I hate Suho. Making me go get her in the rain,” Luhan muttered as he drove around in the harsh rain, looking for Soyoung. “She obviously has feet. She can go on her own.”

But it was your fault of why she’s even going back on her own. If anything happens to her, it’s your fault, Luhan. A voice in the back of his head told him, and he knew it was right.

“Damn!” Luhan shouted, hitting the steering wheel. She was nowhere in sight and he’s been searching for an hour worth already. “I better not find her on the side of the road knocked out because of this rain.” As much as he was cursing Soyoung off, he couldn’t help but worry about her too. It really was his fault for even sending her off like that.

As he was just about to give up on finding her in the rain, he spotted a familiar figure in a grocery store by the window, staring out at the rain while rubbing her hands together. She was soaking wet. By how she looked, Luhan had guessed that she had just entered the store not too long ago.

Luhan rolled his eyes, “So much for having feet and going on her own.”

Luhan decided to park in the parking lot before entering the store to fetch her. Apparently, she had seen his appearance and scowled, not even wanting to take knowledge of his existence.

“Yah, let’s go,” Luhan nudged her lightly, only to get rejection instead.

“Go away.”

“I’ll send you home,” Luhan pleaded. It shocked Soyoung that his voice sounded so soft just now, almost as if he was begging her. “Come on.”

Soyoung gulped and shoved him away. “Get away from me, jerk. Just go back and hang out with your friends.”

Luhan sighed. Why does she have to be so difficult?

“I’m asking nicely and actually came out here to take you home. Are you going to reject me like this?”

“You’re the one who told me to go on my own,” Soyoung spat before rolling her eyes. “Just go. I have my own feet. I can get home by myself.”

Luhan winced. That sounded rather harsh. Did he really say that? He nudged her once more. “You don’t even know the way. You’ll get lost.”

“Like you said, I won’t be lost forever,” Soyoung used his words from earlier. “I’ll be fine. Get away from me. Just leave, will you?”

Tired of having to play games, Luhan grabbed Soyoung’s wrist and pulled her after him.

“Y-Yah!” Soyoung tried pulling back, but it was no use. Who could’ve thought that such a skinny guy could be so strong?

Luhan pushed her into his car with ease as he closed the passenger’s door and walked over to his side in the rain, getting in his car himself. He started the car and made his way out of the parking lot.

“Y-yah!” Soyoung shrieked. “How can you just pull someone like that?! In this case it’s considered kidnapping! I demand you to let me off right now!”

Luhan snickered, “I’m taking you home. How is that considered kidnapping?”

Soyoung looked at him in disbelief. “L-Luhan!”

Luhan stopped the car immediately. It was lucky that there were no cars in sight in this horrible rain.

Luhan glared at her. “Lower your voice.”

“No!” Soyoung shouted on purpose.

That’s it. Luhan cupped her face in his hands, pulling her closer to him. At least that alarmed her and made her stop shouting.

“This is my way of saying sorry,” his voice became soft once again as he stared intently into her eyes. It even showed emotions, this was what Soyoung was seeing. “I’m sorry. I’m truly sorry for being a jerk earlier. I admit, it was my fault, so in return for being the jerk from earlier, please let me drive you back home.”

Soyoung gulped, but nodded slowly, afraid to even move a bit. Their faces were so close together that if she were to move just an inch closer…

Luhan sighed in content before pulling back.

“Finally,” he muttered before he began driving again.

Soyoung stayed quiet the whole ride. Was it because she was still in shock, or was it because she felt weird towards Luhan now? It couldn’t such a thing, right? She couldn’t be feeling weird towards Luhan and most of all, how can she be so shocked to that point. She decided to shrug it off.

As they neared Soyoung’s house, the rain had already stopped. It was then that Soyoung saw who was sitting at the footsteps of her house when Luhan came to a stop in front of her house. There, sat a soaked Zico, with a not-so-bright expression.

“Who is he?” Luhan asked, seeing Zico sitting on her pavement with a dark expression. “Do you know him? Should I take you to my house instead?”

Soyoung gulped and shook her head. “N-no. It’s fine. He’s a friend of mines and besides, my parents should be home.” She quickly unseatbelted, never taking her eyes off of Zico who was glaring at her. “Thanks for the ride, Luhan. I’ll go now.”

As she was about to open the door, Luhan finally took his eyes off of Zico and grabbed Soyoung’s wrist, pulling her back. “Are you sure you know him, or are you lying?” His voice sounded of concern, but Soyoung didn’t catch that. She was just worried for the Zico who was in front of her house door right now. “Because if he’s really not a friend of yours, I can easily take you away from here.”

“He’s really a friend of mines,” Soyoung spoke before making eye contact with Luhan as she could see Zico getting up from his spot. “I’m not lying, okay? Thank you for the ride. Get back to your friends.”

She quickly opened the door and left the car as Luhan scoffed. “What a scary friend you have then.” He rolled his eyes before riding off.

“Yah, what are you doing here?” Soyoung asked, running up to Zico. “Aigoo, look at you, you’re all wet.” Soyoung checked his clothes that were wet. She frowned, “You’re going to catch a cold like this. Let’s go in --“

“Where were you?” he finally spoke. Zico’s voice sounded solemn and it made her feel slightly bad that he was probably waiting for her.

“Why didn’t you knock on the door? My parents could’ve opened the door for you, dummy,” she scolded him, pulling him after her.

Being the stubborn Zico he was, he pulled back and shouted, “I asked where you were!” He held onto her shoulders and calmed quickly as if he was defeated. “Where were you, Soyoung-a?” His voice was so much quieter now and his eyes were sullen.

“Have you been waiting here the whole time?” Soyoung’s worried instincts kicked in. “Why didn’t you knock? My parents should be home.”

“You lied to me,” he ignored her question.

“H-huh?”

“You said you were going home, but I ended up here before you did,” he spoke bitterly. “Why would you lie to me? Soyoung looked down at her hands, at the yard, anywhere but his eyes. Zico sighed and brought his hand up to tilt Soyoung’s face to the side as he examined a visible mark on her face. His finger swiped gently on her cheek before he brought his finger up to his eye. “Make up?”

Soyoung became aware of the slap from earlier. “M-make up?”

“You’re so bad at hiding that bruise,” he rolled his eyes. “At least not get wet in the rain if you were going to hide it with make-up.”

“Oh,” was all she could say. Of course, she had forgotten that it was powdered make-up. Not the cream version. If she had remembered, maybe she wouldn’t have walked out into the cold rain.

“You’re wet too,” he brought her out of her thoughts. “Where did you go and who was that guy? Since when do you run away with guys?”

“Yah,” Soyoung slapped his arm. “I didn’t run away. I was dragged away.”

“Dragged?” Zico’s brows raised in suspicion. “Since when do guys drag you around?”

“I don’t know,” Soyoung pouted. “The stupid jerk just did for no reason.”

“Stupid jerk?”

Soyoung nodded, “Stupid jerk. Luhan.”

“Luhan?” The name sounded familiar, yet it seemed so foreign. “Oh, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lu,” Zico recollected. “And why would he drag you away, missy?” He tapped her nose and she felt refreshed by that. It had meant that all his anger has left his body. Back to the normal Zico now.

She shrugged, “He never told me. He said something about making me have fun. Apparently, he brought me over to his friend’s house and they were nothing but kind, except for him. He was a total jerk. He even made me walk in the rain. What kind of guy does that, you know?”

“Aigoo,” Zico narrowed his eyes before sliding the back of his finger down her nose. “Pabo cheonsa.

“What?” she scrunched nose before rubbing it.

He jabbed his thumb behind him, pointing to the door. “Hurry. Go open the door.”

“Huh? Open it? Aren’t my parents’ home?”

Zico rolled his eyes and scoffed, “Yeah they’re home and that’s why I stayed out here instead and got all wet by the rain after pounding on all the first floor windows and the door even.”

Soyoung caught his thick sarcasm, “You could’ve just said it in a more obvious way.”

“Was that not obvious enough for you?” He scoffed, “Our Soyoung had gotten dumb over the past few hours that you’ve been gone.”

“No, that’s not it.” She grabbed out her keys from her pocket and headed for the door, unlocking it. “Where did they go though? They didn’t tell me they had plans today.”

Zico followed her inside and shut the door. “Go bring me your mom’s make-up.”

She stopped in her tracks and turned to face Zico who took off his shoes. “Why?”

“Just do it,” he commanded.

“Okay,” she obeyed before making her way up the stairs.

Within a minute or two, Soyoung was back down stairs by Zico’s side with her mom’s make-up baby cream and an extra pair of clothes of her dad’s. It was then that Zico noticed that she had changed her clothes.

“Here,” she handed her dad’s clothes to the gentleman. “It may be a bit small for now, but it should do.”

“Just go put it back,” he pushed Soyoung’s hand back. “I don’t need it.”

She insisted as she put it out in front of him again. “Just take it.”

He sighed before taking it out of her hands, “Fine.” On the spot, he took off his wet t-shirt along with the inside muscle shirt, revealing his 6 pack abs.

“Aish, do you not have any manners or something?” Soyoung’s face scrunched up. “How can you change in front of a girl like that? There’s something called a bathroom.”

Zico snickered, “Don’t act like you’ve never seen this body before. You even saw Kyung’s too. These babies aren’t here for no reason, you know?” he smirked as he rubbed his abs.

Soyoung shoved him slightly before seating herself on the couch. “Hurry and put it on.”

“You know you like it,” Zico smirked before putting on the shirt he was given. As he was about to take off his pants, Soyoung shrieked and threw a pillow at him, catching him by surprise.

“Stupid! Go do that in the bathroom! That’s a different part of you now!” Soyoung shouted, hiding her eyes behind her hands. “Go!”

Zico rolled his eyes and left for the bathroom, but not before knocking her head with a grin on his face.

“Yah, open the door!” Luhan shouted as he banged on Kris’s door for the umpteenth time. “I said open it!”

“You can go now,” a voice shouted from inside. Luhan knew that voice from anywhere. It was none other than Kai.

“Aish,” Luhan, out of annoyance, kicked the door. “Immature kids,” he muttered before walking back to his car and driving off. If they weren’t going to open the door for him then he might as well go hang out by himself. It’s not like he was going to keep waiting on that door to open up.

As he was driving to where ever, his phone rang. “Aish, who’s calling?” he was still annoyed, but he wasn’t going to throw a tantrum about it, as he picked up without having to look at the caller ID. “What is it?”

[[Chinese – red]]

“Gege?” a cutesy voice was the reply, as it was in Chinese, not Korean. “Is this Luhan gege?”

All of Luhan’s irritation left his body hearing this voice that called him. He straightened up as he drove. “Mei lien, is that you?”

The high pitched voice laugh with joy, “You are Luhan gege!”

Luhan smiled a bright one upon hearing her gratefulness. “Mei lien, did you need something?”

Luhan could hear the pout in the girl’s voice. “I miss Luhan gege. Can you come see me and jiejie?”

“No can do,” Luhan chuckled into the phone. “Sorry, Mei lien. I’ll come visit next year okay? Luhan gege can’t come now.”

“Jiejie, Luhan gege is mean.” Luhan could hear the disappointment in Mei Lien’s voice as she pulled away from the phone to talk to someone. “He won’t even come visit me.”

“Give it here.” Luhan heard some shufflings before he heard a more mature voice of an older woman. A woman he knew. “Lu?”

That voice. That gentle voice that called his name. That voice that got his heart beating a million times per second without even having to do anything other than say his name. He knew it. He missed it. And, he loves it.

“Wu Yun Yi?” Luhan questioned. He didn’t even need to ask to know. He already knew, but he didn’t want to be obvious.

“Where are you?” she asked. Luhan could hear people talking loudly in the background, but he ignored it as he only focused on her voice.

“I’m on the way of driving home,” he replied. “How about you? Probably resting from helping your mom out so much at the market, huh?”

“Wrong,” she laughed. Luhan couldn’t help but grin. That laugh that he loved hearing because he caused it.

“Then where are you?” Luhan interrogated with an amuse face.

“Seoul, South Korea!” She shouted into the phone. It surprised him. Not the fact that her volume of her voice was so loud, but the fact that she was in Seoul. “So come pick me and Mei lien up. Hurry, okay?”

After quickly letting the information sink in, his bad day and suddenly turned from upside down to right side up. His grin grew larger, he was smiling from ear to ear. “Okay, I’ll come right now.” He made a complete U-Turn and headed for the airport. “Stay put there. Tell Mei lien to wait for a bit longer.”

“Yes sir,” he heard Mei lien shout before Yun Yi hung up. His heart, just by a little, decreased it’s beat. He had wished that she would talk to him on the phone for much longer. At least until he sees her in person. The news of his first love being here in his home town made him excited. It made his heart race at an incredible speed that almost seemed impossible that it’s running that fast.

Unknowingly, a smile crossed his face. Other than having to bring him the excitement, the news made his day brighter. His life brighter. It made him happy.

“A-ah, yah! Do it more gentle. It hurts,” she whined as Zico rubbed the baby crème on her face, her bruise to be more exact.

“Good, if you know it hurts, don’t do it next timr,” he lectured her. Though he had said this, he did make his touch more gentle. He didn’t want to hurt her at all.

“Is there even going to be a next time?” Soyoung challenged as Zico brought his hand back, done with covering up the palm mark. “Is it noticeable?”

“Hmmm,” he leaned back on the couch to look at her face clearly. “The make-up is pretty noticeable. You have to make up an excuse because they’re probably going to ask why out of all days you put on make-up.”

She frowned. “What kind of excuse would they believe?”

“You’re on your own on that one,” he smirked, getting up before getting pulled down by the feisty girl.

“Yah, help me,” she whined. “Come on, you’ve already helped me. Help me till the end then.”

Zico scoffed, “Aish, this girl. You should be grateful that I even helped to cover it up. The most you can do is say thank you, but no, here you are, demanding me to help.”

“Please?” she cooed, swinging his hand.

Zico cursed himself millions of times in his head, knowing his answer. He couldn’t say no to her. He just can’t. It’s almost irresistible. He glared at her. “Kim Soyoung-sshi, I hate you.”

Her eyes glistened upon hearing his answer. “Thank you, Woo Jiho!” she jumped on him, giving him a big hug. “Thank you! Thank You! Thank You!”

He couldn’t help but laugh at her actions. “I got it. Get off me! You’re so heavy!”

She scrunched her nose, before getting off and planting herself on the couch. “Now help me think of something.”

“Why don’t you just tell them that we were playing a game and you lost so you have to put make up for a whole month?” Zico suggested right off the bat. He had to be honest, he knew this was coming anyways, so he had thought of the idea when he was still applying the make-up on her.

Soyoung clapped her hands. “That’s a wonderful idea. They would believe that, wouldn’t they?”

“You tell me. They’re your parent’s after all,” he remarked. He got up once again, “Let’s go see Kyung and Mrs. Park. Because of you, I ran here and didn’t get a chance to make sure she’s okay. The next thing I knew when I got there was Kyung saying sorry and asking me to check on you.”

“Really?” She felt bad. Did he really do that? Well, either ways, she felt bad. One, for not going to check up on Mrs. Park, and two, for making Zico come here instead.

“Yeah, so come on. Go put this back in your mom’s room. I’ll be waiting in the car.” He handed her the tube of baby crème . “Hurry out, okay?”

She nodded eagerly before getting up and heading for her parent’s room.

Author's Note♥:

There's not much to say today, other than the fact that I had to hurry & update this before my mom knows that I'm still up! Haha. So please excuse any grammar errors & mistakes in general, thank you :)

& Yes, yes. Luhan seems 'bipolar', doesn't he? At one time, he's mad & angered & annoyed, then another, he suddenly becomes gentle and guilty, but then again, he's Luhan afterall.
