Chapter 9

JUST Common Sense

No One's POV

She was sleeping peacefully on the bed as her son sat beside her on a stool, watching her. He didn’t want to leave her at all, afraid that something would happen if he even left for one second.

When B-Bomb had came out to let Kyung know about the good news, Kyung ran straight to the room that B-Bomb had told him she was in. Like B-bomb had said, his mom was awake and she looked very pale. She didn’t even look like someone who was alive and that was what hurted Kyung the most when seeing his mom.

Eventually, the color returned back to her face as she wiped away Kyung’s tears that were falling from such news about his mother. Songhye, on the other hand, wasn’t there in the room when Kyung had entered the room, but he could care less. He didn’t even notice it until his mom fell asleep and U-Kwon asked where she had gone. Just like Kyung, no one had noticed it.

Zico came in minutes after Mrs. Park had fallen into a serene slumber. Everyone turned their attention to Zico, except for Kyung who never looked away from his mother’s face. Zico gave a small encouraging nod to all of them before walking over to Kyung and patting his shoulder.

“She’s okay, Kyung,” Zico spoke quietly. “You can stop worrying now.”

“I can never stop worrying,” Kyung then replied, yet Zico knew. Zico knew how his best friend was and he can’t help but agree. Knowing Mrs. Park’s health condition, nothing can be helped but to worry. “I can’t lose her, Jiho.”

Zico nodded, knowing that Kyung couldn’t see him because Kyung has never even taken his eyes off of the woman who had given so much love to the both of them, including Soyoung and the other 5 boys. “I know, Kyung. I know you can’t lose her.”

“My mom is my everything,” Kyung continued. “If I lose her, I won’t have anyone anymore. If I lose my mom, I wouldn’t know what to do anymore.”

Zico didn’t reply. He knew Kyung, and Kyung would always stick to his words, whether it was the truth or a lie. In this case, Zico couldn’t say anything, because he knew the answer to that. If Kyung loses his mom, he would still have someone by his side, whether it was Zico himself or the Block B boys.

Kyung sighed, finally looking up at Zico. “Can you do me a favor?”

Zico nodded with an encouraging smile. “Anything.”

“I’m pretty sure Soyoung left. It seemed like she was leaving, anyways,” Kyung said, “But can you go check on her for me?”

Zico’s eyebrows raised as he let out a quiet stifled laugh, “You bring Soyoung up now, because…?”

“Hyung, you didn’t see her on the way?” P.O spoke quietly.

Zico glanced over to the maknae and shook his head. “I didn’t. Why? Did something happen when I left? Why suddenly bring her up, not that I have a problem with it though.”

“I apologize then. Forgive Songhye for her stupid actions,” Kyung voiced out in a whisper.

“Huh?” Zico was more confused than ever. Why would Kyung apologize? Zico knew this wasn’t the matter about him earlier, but something to do with Soyoung and he had no idea what had happened.

Jaehyo, the good friend he is, helped speak for Kyung. “Earlier, shortly after you left, Songhye brought her hand up and was meaning to slap Kyung or something, but Soyoung blocked it for him and Songhye got Soyoung instead.”

Zico’s eyes rounded. “What was that?” He knew Songhye as much as the others does. Songhye was known as the strongest and most deadliest slap in the world, exaggeration, but at least they knew how hard her slaps were.

“Go check on her,” Kyung commanded once again. Without any more command, Zico shot out the doors.

“So it’s Simin, Chen, Tao, Xiying, Suho, Kai, Baekho, Sehyun, Chanyeol, and Kungsoo?” Soyoung asked as she recited their names. Learning 10 new names wasn’t easy at all. This has been going on for the past hour and Luhan couldn’t help but shout ‘stupid’ in his head.

Luhan rolled his eyes, “For god’s sake, Soyoung, you got the names wrong, AGAIN!” He got up and took action, pointing to each and every one of them, saying their name periodically. “It’s XIUMIN, not Simin. This is Chen, then Tao and this is Yixing! Not, Xiying. Suho, Kai, Baekhyun. How do you even get Baekho out of that? And this is Sehun, not Sehyun. This is Chanyeol and for the last time, it’s Kyungsoo, not Kungsoo. K-Y-U-N-G, KYUNGsoo.”

“Oh,” was all she could say. She knew it was her fault for not memorizing their names well and she doesn’t blame Luhan for getting impatient.

“Yeah, so get it right!” he hissed before sitting back down.

“It’s fine, Luhan,” Suho smiled his angelic smile. “Be patient with her. It’s actually pretty hard to remember someone’s name when you’re trying to learn 9 other people’s name.”

“But it’s been a freaking hour already,” Luhan retorted, sending daggers at Soyoung who rolled her eyes willingly.

Pfft, like she was affected by the daggers.

“Luhan hyung is right,” Sehun agreed. “It has been an hour already. I’m pretty sure she should have learned by now.”

“Hey, at least I know who is Chinese and who is Korean out of the 12 of you, okay?” She helped defended herself. “and really, Sehun, you can’t just blame me in such a way when it’s Luhan’s fault for bringing me here. Did I look like I wanted to be learning names today?”

“Soyoung is definitely correct on that one,” Kris sided by which Chanyeol nodded.

“Then why are you even learning their names?” Luhan stressed. “If you can’t learn 10 other people’s name within an hour, what’s the point of even trying?”

“Because it’s rude if I don’t know their name. If you’re going to be stubborn and not take me back home, might as well learn their names,” Soyoung shouted at him.

“Wow, can’t believe I actually thought that Luhan picked her up,” Chanyeol chuckled. “They’re on the verge of cutting each other’s necks.”

“Shut it, Yeol,” Luhan snapped.

“Don’t take your anger on him. He didn’t even do anything to you,” Soyoung snapped at Luhan.

“He said something stupid,” Luhan retorted.

“Then you shut it too, because you’re saying something stupid!” Soyoung clenched her fist, wanting to get up and grab his face and smash it into a brick wall.

“Then why don’t you --“

“Guys! Stop it!” Kris bellowed, earning silence in return. It worked. “Finally, although it was pretty amusing to see you guys argue like that, we really need to get somewhere with this day.”

“Yeah, Kris is right,” Suho spoke. “Why don’t we do something instead of having you two argue?”

“Well, we can’t do much in this rain,” Chen reasoned.

Man, he really wished they would continue to argue again. It was fun to watch Luhan do that with a girl because it was so rare. He’s never really seen Luhan take it out on a female before. It was quite amusing.

“Why don’t we just watch them argue again?” Kai suggested.

“Hell no!” Both Luhan and Soyoung rejected the idea, in which the EXO boys found interesting.

Luhan was the type to do something that he doesn’t realizes that’s entertaining others and if they tell him to do it again, he would refuse, because he knew someone was paying attention to it. It’s a weird and confusing concept, but that’s just how Luhan is.

“Wow, they agreed with each other,” Sehun whispered, loud enough for Luhan to hear.

“I know right --“

Luhan got up immediately and stormed over to Soyoung, forcibly pulling her up from the couch and dragging her towards the door.

“Yah, hyung, what are you doing?” Everyone stared at Luhan’s weird actions as.

“Y-yah!” Soyoung tried pulling away. “What are you doing?! Let me go!”

Luhan stopped in his tracks, making eye contact with his neighbor. “You said you wanted to go home, didn’t you? So go.”

Soyoung’s eyes widened, pulling free from him. “You expect me to go like this?”

“Yes! So put your damn shoes on and leave already!”

“You want me to go by feet?!” Soyoung was more than furious at this point. What kind of guy does this to girls?

“What did you expect?” Luhan shot back.

Soyoung scoffed with great hatred. “Are you even human anymore if you do that?”

“What?” Luhan scoffed. They knew Luhan was obviously offended.

“You heard me,” Soyoung frowned. “Driving me home is the best thing you can do since we’ve arrived anyways. You dragged me here in the first place too. If you have left me then you wouldn’t be as mad as how you are now.”

“Are you saying it’s my fault?” Luhan retorted in disbelief. “Is that what you’re saying? Is that why I need to send you back, because you don’t have feet to use?!”

“Can’t you lower your voice!” Soyoung shot back instantly before quieting down. She sighed heavily, “It’s the least you can do. I don’t even know what part of Seoul this is and you did drag me here, so it is technically your fault.”

“Maybe if you --“

“Luhan,” Kris raised his voice to interrupt the latter, “She’s right. It’s the least you can do for her since you did drag her here.”

“She has feet, she can go herself. It’s not like she can be lost forever,” Luhan rolled his eyes.

Kris narrowed his eyes at him. How can he say that, especially when Soyoung was a girl? “Luhan, listen to how you’re talking --“

“It’s fine,” Soyoung spat, not taking her eyes of Luhan as he did the same thing. “Only a real man with a heart would do such a thing.” Luhan opened his mouth to protest, but Soyoung continued on. “Luhan is right anyways. I have feet and can go by myself.” Soyoung turned her gaze to the other boys and bowed. “Thank you everyone, for giving me a chance to know your names even when I failed horribly.” That didn’t bother to bring a smile to all their faces. Lastly, Soyoung turned towards Kris and bowed one last time. “Especially you. Thank you for letting me stay for this long. I really appreciate it. I’ll be leaving now.”

“It’s no problem,” Kris gave an apologetic smile. “But, are you really going to leave right now? I suggest you don’t. It’s still pouring right now.”

“It’s fine,” Soyoung managed a smile in return before giving Luhan a glare that he shrugged off. “If someone doesn’t want me here, then I’ll happily leave because it’s too cold to be in the same room as that person.”

The others looked over at Luhan who looked away in embarrassment.

“Shouldn’t you be happy for kicking out a lovely lady,” Chanyeol hissed with sarcasm.

“Aghh, shut up!” Luhan retorted before retreating upstairs.

“Aigoo, that kid really has issues,” Kai watched as he climbed the stairs and entered the guest room.

“He’s more worse than when he was younger,” Soyoung muttered, yet he others didn’t hesitate to hear it.

Eyes rounded, Tao decided to come to life. “You knew Luhan hyung since you were little?!”

Neutral faced, Soyoung nodded, unphased. “Well, sort of. Not really, though. Why?”

“I -- We -- No, you --“ Chen stuttered, cursing under his breath for doing so, earning a smack in the head from Xiumin.

“Can’t even talk properly,” Xiumin rolled his eyes before turning back to Soyoung. “Sorry for the guy. It’s just that we’re surprised that you’ve known Luhan since a young age. We’ve also known  him since we were kids but we’ve never heard of you before so that’s why we’re so shocked.”

She managed a small laugh, “It’s fine. I know what you mean. I can see why you guys don’t know about me. Luhan and I had barely spoken a word to each other when we were kids. In fact, this is the first time we’ve exchange so much words before.”

“Oh, really?” Baekhyun seemed to be as surprised as the others. “I see. That’s pretty funny. You’ve been neighbors since forever then?”

Soyoung nodded. “Pretty much. I guess it’s because he went abroad in China to study.”

“Would you have spoken  to him more if he didn’t?” Suho asked.

“Maybe,” Soyoung answered truthfully. “It’s possible but I don’t know. But either ways, it’s proven that he isn’t a loner anymore.”

“A loner?” Sehun and Tao laughed. “You thought Luhan hyung was a loner?”

“Of course. The guy never talked when he came over and he never smiles,” Soyoung explained. “So I thought he was a loner. I guess he grew up pretty well.”

“And by loner, you mean Facebook popular?” D.O chuckled as her eyes rounded.

“Facebook popular?” Soyoung questioned. “Luhan’s Facebook popular? You’re kidding me. How can he be Facebook popular if I haven’t even heard of seen him on my newsfeed?”

“He’s not only Facebook popular, you know? You want proof?” Sehun challenged as Soyoung rolled her eyes.

“I’m good. I should get going now anyways,” Soyoung bowed one last time. “Thanks for everything. Sorry to bother you guys.”

“But it’s raining. Are you sure you can go like this?” Suho asked kindly.

Soyoung managed a smile, “Yeah. I’ll be fine. Thanks for caring though. Plus, the rain isn’t as bad as,” she yelled out the last part, so Luhan could hear, “STAYING IN THE SAME HOUSE AS THE JERK, LULU!

“Wow, you have more courage than I give you credit for,” Tao spoke, amazed at how much confidence she had to talk to someone in such a way.

“Uh, thanks?” What else was she supposed to say? “So, uhm, yeah. I think I’ll go now.” Soyoung quickly put on her shoes with all eyes on her. She opened the door a bit and was surprised by how strong the wind was.

Kris, noticing this, smirked, “Are you sure you can go like this?”

“Y-yeah,” Soyoung stuttered, opening the door wider. “Of course. Bye guys. It was nice meeting you all.”

And with that, she left into the freezing cold rain with the wind that would’ve drove many insane.

“Will she be okay?” Chanyeol asked, concerned.

“Shouldn’t we send her?” Lay asked, still staring the door.

“Just wait for it,” Kris smirked. “She’ll pop up any second now, asking for us to send her.”

But 10 minutes have passed since then.

“Damn,” Kris cursed, upset at his stupid decision. “She’s really not coming back.”

“Hyung!” Tao smacked Kris’s head. “Look what you did. She didn’t even come back.”

“How do you think she’s doing right now?” Baekhyun questioned.

“Some leader you are, Kris.” Suho rolled his eyes, getting up from the couch. The Chinese leader couldn’t help but avert eyes in embarrassment.

“Where are you going, hyung?” Sehun wondered.

“To grab Luhan,” Suho replied as he made his way upstairs. “The guy started things, he needs to end it. He needs to take responsibility.”

With the others thinking that Suho would fail to make Luhan come out to find Soyoung, Luhan came out of the guest room with a annoyed face on.

“Someone’s feeling guilty,” Chanyeol singsonged.

Luhan ignored him and grabbed his key off the counter before stepping out of the door after putting on his shoes. He was going to go find Soyoung in the cold, harsh rain.
