Chapter 11

JUST Common Sense

[[Chinese - Red]]

*Kě ài = Cute

No One's POV

She looked around eagerly, wondering when her favorite person will get here. Why do grownups always take so long to arrive? It bothered her so much. It has been months since she’s last seen him and she missed him. He use to always come over every day or so to play with her, but since the day that he left, she has no one to play with. Her older sister had work to do, so that didn’t work out. When she heard that her mom is willing to let her and her older sister go to South Korea, she was more than happy and agreed with the idea right away. She has no idea of why, but she didn’t care. She was just glad. Now that she’s here, in south Korea and waiting, she couldn’t help but get impatient. She was hungry and he was late.

Jie jie, when will Luhan gege get here?” she frowned, finally taking a seat on the bench next to her older sister.

The older one smiled and ruffled her hair. “In a bit,” she replied. “In a bit Mei Lien. Luhan will be here soon, I promise.”

“Mei Lien!” that familiar voice favorite by the little girl shouted. In surprise and awe, Mei Lien looked up and not too far from her stood her favorite person wearing a bright smile waving at her. Right away, her face brightened.

“Luhan gege!” The girl got up and ran over to him, hugging him tightly as Luhan picked her up, as light as she was. “You came!”

“Of course I did,” he chuckled, setting her back down before crouching down to her height. “I would never miss out on my favorite girl. How are you, Mei?”

“Mei Lien is hungry,” she pouted. Gege took so long.”

Luhan ringed out a laugh before pinching her pick cheeks lightly. Gege is sorry. Forgive me?”

“Always!” she shouted in joy. She’s finally seeing her favorite person again. Who wouldn’t be happy?

Kě ài,” he grinned, ruffling her hair.

“You got here more early than I expected,” that familiar voice sounded through his ear. Luhan glanced up to see her stand tall, looking down at him with a broad smile, the luggages by her side. “It’s nice to see you again, Lu Han.”

Keeping his cool, he stood up with a smirk. “The same goes to you too, Wu Yun Yi.” Although he was sure that she could hear his heart pounding madly against his chest, he ignored it, glancing down at the younger girl who held on tightly to his hand. “Should we head to my house? That’s where you guys are staying, right?”

“Could work, although my mom preferred me to stay over at Yi Fan’s place,” Yun Yi replied before Mei Lien could answer.

“Just stay at my place,” Luhan suggested. “I’d hate to send you over to Kris’s place especially when they’re all over there.”

“Lazy,” Yun Yi muttered with a slight grin. “Fine, but that’s got to be confirmed with Mr. and Mrs. Lu first.”

“Of course my parents would let you guys stay.” Luhan was more than sure on that one. His parents could never say no, except to him, that is. “Let’s go. I’ll help you guys bring those.” He reached for the two cases, one small, who he figured has to be Mei Lien’s, and a larger sized one, who he knew it was Yun Yi’s just by the looks of it. It was a white suitcase, dotted with different shades of pink. “Follow me.”

On the drive back, Mei Lien couldn’t help but point out everything pretty she saw. She’s always wondered how it looked in Seoul because Luhan would always tell her how gorgeous it was. She’s always had fantasies about it without even having to be there before. Now, seeing it with her own eyes, she agreed with Luhan more than ever. Seoul is a beautiful place.

“So why are you guys here?” Luhan questioned, keeping his eyes on the road. “It’s surprising to see you here in Seoul. You haven’t been here since you were five.”

“I don’t know,” Yun Yi replied honestly. “My dad said something about impressing your parents, although I have no idea what that means. “

He chuckled at her response. Impress? “Is he trying to make you impress my parents for marriage sake or something?” He joked. “Seriously, why are you guys here?”

“I’m not lying. I don’t know why we’re here,” she repeated herself. “Got back from the market two days ago and the next thing I know, my suitcase was packed and my parent’s told me that I’m going to be visiting you all.”

“Sounds absurd,” was all he could say. He was thinking too much. About her. About how she was right next to him, right now. About how she was in Seoul, with him. About how she was talking to him. Her with him. That was all that running through his head and it got his heart racing madly.

Before he knew it, they’ve reached his house as he parked on the sidelines. “So, how long are you here for? Do you know?”

“Probably a week or two. Whenever you start college, we’re gone,” she responded. “When do you start school?”

“In two weeks-“

“Wow! Look at that car!” Mei Lien interrupted him as she pointed at a car across the driveway. “It’s so cool.”

Luhan looked at the car parked in front of Soyoung’s house. It was still there. It was there earlier when he sent her home, but he didn’t take notice of it. Luhan then glanced over at the little girl with a grin. “Isn’t gege’s car much cooler though?”

“Nope,” she rejected, not taking her eyes off of the blue car that she pointed at. “That one is much cooler. It’s blue, not orange like gege’s.”

Luhan pretended to look hurt. Gege’s heart is broken.”

Mei Lien and Yun Yi laughed. Gege,” Mei Lien squeaked. “You’re so cheesy. Stop it.”

“Okay, okay,” he chuckled before getting out of the car, opening the door for the little girl. He went to the trunk and opened it, grabbing the luggages an pulling them out.

“Kim Soyoung is ugly!” someone shouted from a distant, causing Luhan to look up and over at the person who had shouted that to the world. There, he saw, coming out of Soyoung’s house was the same guy he saw earlier in different clothes, the shirt was much too large for him. He looked much more happier  now and he had a smile on his face, even managed a laugh too when he had shouted that. Behind him, Luhan could see Soyoung right behind him with a bright smile on her face, laughing herself as she shoved her so-called friend.

“Aish, shut up. No one wants to hear your voice,” she scolded him with that smile of hers as they walked towards the blue car that Mei Lien pointed out as cool.

“You do, though,” her friend remarked with a smirk, earning another push from her.

“Hurry, you said you wanted to go see Mrs. Park, but you’re slowing us down.” Soyoung laughed before opening the passenger’s door and entering the car. Her friend did the same before driving off.

Luhan watched until the car went out of sight. They seem… close.

“Wahh, that jie jie is so pretty,” Mei Lien praised as she, too, watched until the car drive out of sight. “And that gege is so handsome too. They’re the perfect couple.”

“What couple?” Luhan rolled his eyes. He remembered what happened between Soyoung and him earlier that day and it was enough to get him annoyed. “They’re just friends… I think”

“Your neighbors?” Yun Yi spoke nudged him. She smiled, “Do you have a crush on her?”

“Why would I have a crush on her?” Luhan scoffed, turning his attention back to the luggages as he closed the trunk. “I barely know that girl.”

“Who said I was talking about the girl?” Yun Yi questioned. Luhan gave her an ‘Are-you-kidding’ look, causing her to burst into laughter. “Just kidding!”

Luhan’s smile returned, his thoughts now occupied by just her. Wu Yun Yi. The effect she had on him. “Let’s go inside.”

Soyoung’s POV

We were supposed to be heading to the hospital way earlier, but Zico said he looked weird in dad’s pants so I had to grab one of dad’s shorts for him instead. When he got done changing, he suddenly didn’t feel like going anymore, for that moment, anyways. He suggested we wait for his clothes to dry, but I told him no because I really wanted to see Mrs. Park. I was eager to know how she was doing, although Zico kept assuring me that she was fine. I still wanted to see for myself. She was like a second mother to me, aside from Mrs. Lu herself. They both treat me like their very own daughters and I am always grateful for their doings.

Eventually, we ended up staying for an hour or so because he was nagging at me and we got into a small argument. A very minor argument that I hadn’t expected, but Zico had it planned out all well. He planned it out, so that we could stay at home longer for more than I wanted. He had stalled us on purpose. So now, we’re on our way to the hospital, my plan from the beginning.

“I can’t believe we actually went through that stupid argument,” I rolled my eyes as he drove. “You said you wanted to go see Mrs. Park but you end up wanting to stay. Aigoo, Woo Jiho, what is wrong with you?”

He laughed his mighty laugh, “No one told you to go accordingly to my plan. It sure did work out well though.”

“I can’t believe we were arguing about different clothes brand,” I sighed. “Such a waste of my time. I hate you, Woo Jiho.”

“You know we had a good time arguing though. It was fun,” Zico grinned. “Admit it.”

I couldn’t deny it. It was true. Many would’ve thought that it was the kind of arguments that had people going at each other’s necks, but Zico and I don’t have just any arguments. Our arguments are always one that we laughed at. During AND after. It was a normal thing for us.

“But really? ‘Kim Soyoung is ugly’?” I rolled my eyes thinking back to what he said. That was the lamest blackmail ever.

“Well, I did tell you that if you don’t agree with me, then I’m going to shout it to the world,” he smirked.

His smirks… They irk me so much at times. He may look good in those smirks. Woo Jiho may look good in his own smirks, but sometimes, I wish he was ugly. Too ugly for his sake. Sometimes, I wish he was ugly so I would wanna actually have the will to wipe his smirks off his face, but no. He was too handsome for MY sake, to the point where I can’t help but love it when he does so.

“Yeah, because I care so much, you know?” My sarcasm kicked in, causing my best friend to laugh. We’re too funny.
