Chapter 32

JUST Common Sense

No One's POV

It's amazing how she was on here, yet, it was cruel too. How did they manage to get her there? When she didn't even want to go, why was she on the stupid plane, making her way to Beijing, China?

"And you said you didn't want to go," Baekhyun laughed as he made himself comfortable on the seat next to hers. Soyoung sent him a glare.

*I didn't. I just- ...* Then she stopped her train of thoughts, because she couldn't make a reasonable excuse for coming on the plane. She didn't want to come, being truthful here, but why was she on the plane? Soyoung doesn’t know herself. She knew that she absolutely doesn’t want to attend that so-called business event, but for some weird reason, being on the plane felt… nice. Even though she scowled throughout the whole time since that morning when they arrived at the airport and boarded the plane, everyone else knew that she was eager for this trip to China.

Even though she didn't want to go, a part deep inside of her knew that she wanted to go. She had admitted that she didn’t want to go, which was true, but there was another part of her that said that she really does want to go, maybe just a tad bit, because this time, she had some friends accompanying her to those boring business events. In the past, she hated them because Kyung and Zico weren’t with her and she was always alone. This time would be different. She was sure of it, because there sure was a huge change compared to the last one she went to years ago. This time, her reason for going was different and it had to do with the two dorks behind her.

Now they were the reason why she didn’t hesitate to say yes, because not only were the EXO boys on the plane too, but along with her two adorkable friends.

You got that right.

Both Kyung and Zico came too, the two seated behind her and Baekhyun's seat.

“I don’t want to go,” she denied as she crossed her arms and leaned against her chair. Of course, they all knew she was lying. “I’m just going because… Well, my parents are right; I haven’t been to a business event since I was 12. It wouldn’t hurt to attend this business event.”

Luhan, who sat in front of them overheard and snickered before turning his body to look at her. “You’re such a good liar,” he sarcastically acknowledged before rolling his eyes. “If you want to go, just admit it that you really do want to go. You don’t have to make up excuses.”

Before Soyoung could reply, Luhan faced forward as if he had never said a thing. Soyoung scowled for the umpteenth time that day before she kicked the back of his seat, causing Luhan to groan from the unexpected action. She repeated the action once more before letting out a subtle laugh when Luhan cursed quietly, but loud enough for her to hear.

Baekhyun chuckled as he gazed at her, enjoying the pain Luhan was suffering from her kick. *She finally laugh and smile for the first time today.*

“Stop it,” Luhan complained as he faced her once more, giving her a hard glare. “It’s annoying.”

Soyoung played the innocent card and blinked. “Annoying? What is?”

The male hissed, “If you do it one more time, I won’t hold back and I’m not kidding.”

He turned to face forward once more, leaving Soyoung to be puzzled. She leaned towards Baekhyun.

“What would he do if I do it again?” she asked him in a hush tone.

“Hmm…” Baekhyun thought, but nothing came to mind. “Honestly, to the guys, that would’ve been a deadly threat, but because you’re a girl, I actually have no idea what he can do to you.”

Soyoung brightened. “So if I do it one more time, there’s a high chance that he won’t be able to do anything to me?”

He shrugged, “It’s more likely that he said those words to threaten you to make you stop. I highly doubt there’s a chance that he meant his words.”

With a huge smile spread across her face, Soyoung pulled her leg back, and with ultimate force, she kicked Luhan’s seat once again, causing the male to sigh in distress.

Soyoung laughed loudly, as Baekhyun followed right after. He was right; Luhan couldn’t do a thing to her.

“Yah, you 3-year-old kids, quiet down there,” Kris shouted from the middle section.

Hearing his uproar, Soyoung and Baekhyun both quieted down, but laughed in secrecy. They both knew how Kris was. Hearing stories from Baekhyun, she seemed to know the boys quite well. For Kris, he wasn’t a morning person, so waking up early for this flight, he was quite crabby.

“That’s it,” Soyoung heard Luhan muttered as he unbelted from his seat. He stood up and stood beside Soyoung and Baekhyun’s row. “Baekhyun, up,” he commanded.

Baekhyun froze.

“I said, UP,” Luhan emphasized as he gave a hard glare. Soyoung furrowed her brows. Baekhyun wasn’t really going to listen to Luhan, was he? “Or else—"

“I’m up! I’m up!” Baekhyun quickly unbelted as Soyoung gave him a look of disbelief. Was he really going to let Luhan, the annoying beast, sit by her? He quickly passed by Soyoung and into Luhan’s seat in which Luhan smirked as he took his seat in Baekhyun’s, right beside Soyoung. The female just looked at him in disbelief.

Luhan glanced at her before a goofy grin appeared on his face. “What?”

“How can you just kick someone out of their seat like that?” Soyoung punched his arm with a weak force.

Luhan rolled his eyes and shrugged. “Not my problem. How can you keep bothering another passenger by kicking their seat continuously even after they tell you to stop?”

The scowl was back on her face as she whipped her head and faced forward, earning a smirk from Luhan as he leaned back against his seat and closed his eyes.

The thought of her best friends came across Soyoung’s mind. She slightly turned around to look behind her seat and found the two fast asleep. A soft smile came upon her lips. College must have been taking lots of their time up because the two looked as if they haven’t slept for decades. She faced forward again, totally forgetting about Luhan.

If this so-called trip to China was meant for the stupid business event, she would be fine, as long as her two best friends were with her. Without them, life meant nothing.

She, too, closed her eyes, and before she knew it, her breathing evened and she drifted off to dreamland along with the others.

Once they all arrived at the hotel that both her and Luhan’s parents paid for, for the fifteen of them, they settled into their own rooms. It had just reached noon and the fifteen of them had another 6 hours until the event starts.

Soyoung pulled her luggage inside the king sized room before breaking out into a huge smile. “Wahh!!!” She ran towards the king sized bed and jumped onto it, letting the bed swallow her up. “This is so soft!” she shouted of glee as she moved around on the bed.

It has been long since she’s stayed in such an expensive hotel that had the best features. The feeling felt great and she was not regretting one bit that she chose to come.

Knock. Knock.

Soyoung stopped moving on the bed and sat up. “Is it one of the boys?” she asked herself as she got up and walked over to the door. “Who is it?”

Before she could let them answer, she unlocked the door and immediately the male stepped forward surprising Soyoung.

“Woo Jiho!” She scolded as she took a great step back, using her fast reflexes. “Don’t do that!” He had taken her by surprised as he heart was racing from the shock.

Zico, on the other hand, laughed as he trolled into her room. Soyoung sighed and closed the door.

“Don’t you have your own room? Why are you in mines?” she asked as she sat on the armchair provided while Zico plopped onto the bed.

“You’re quite mean for a friend,” Zico joked. “A friend who hasn’t seen you since forever wants so to come and chill out with you but you sound like you’re pushing him away.”

Soyoung softened immediately. “You missed me?” she perked up. The question was straight and clear, and she didn’t hesitate to ask it.

“Miss you? Hm…” Zico sat up and thought about it, earning a glare from Soyoung. How could he not miss her all this time? He grinned as he expected that expression from her. “Missing you is an understatement. I was practically yearning for you.”

His words brightened her up as she laughed at his response.

“Where’s Kyung?” Soyoung decided to ask.

“Probably in his room checking out the features his king size room comes with,” Zico joked as they both laughed. “So, how’s it been with that Chinese neighbor of yours?”

“You mean Luhan?” Soyoung laughed. “Well, I guess things are okay between us now. In the past, I guess we had a weird hatred for each other, but we’re totally okay now. We actually get along well… sometimes.”

“Really?” Because he hasn’t been in contact with her for a while now, he found it quite surprising that the female was actually getting along with the Chinese guy. He didn’t really see this coming, at least not to the point where they sound like they’re friends. “Only sometimes?”

Soyoung shrugged slightly. “Well, it’s not like we hang out or anything, so I wouldn’t say I always get along with him. Well, not legitimate hangouts. I mean, after my composing class, I do stay with Baekhyun until he leaves for his class, then I stay with Luhan to pass time until my class starts. I guess you can say we do have our fair share of stupid arguments from time to time, so yes, we get along sometimes.”

“Fair share of arguments?” Zico snickered, rolling his eyes. “You make it sound like you guys are dating.”

The female scoffed, “Dating?” She laughed the idea off. “Zico, if Luhan and I are dating then birds can swim.”

“Well, you never know if they do,” he muttered. Although he didn’t like the thought of the two dating, he had a feeling they had some sort of connection, and whatever that connection was, he wouldn’t like it.

Soyoung rolled her eyes. How much more naïve can this guy get? “I assure you, there’s nothing going on with Luhan and I. Plus, he has a girl he likes anyways, for the past 10 years or so, I think.” Baekhyun had filled her in on some information about Yun Yi & Luhan, the reason she knows about how long Luhan has been liking her for.

Zico gawked at the new information. “10 years?!” Even if it was Zico, he doesn’t think he would’ve been able to like one girl for such a long amount of time.

“Amazing, right?” she laughed. She yawned and gave a stretch. Trying to sleep the previous night wasn’t such a good plan. She couldn’t even sleep with the thought that she was getting out of the country. The last time she was out of the country was when she was 12 years old, and she had forgotten the feeling. Now that she’s actually experienced it again, she missed it. “I can’t believe I’m in China.”

“Same here,” he agreed. His whole life, Zico had only gotten on a plane once, this being his second time. He wasn’t sure if he liked the idea of leaving Seoul, South Korea, but anywhere with Soyoung is fine. Honestly, this so-called ‘trip’ to China was a surprise. He got a call from Mrs. Kim a week ago asking about his opinion of going to China and the male answered, ‘I guess it’d be fun.’ Just like that, he didn’t know that he had answered his way to a ticket to China. Kyung happened to be ‘tricked’ the same way.

“I’m glad you and Kyung are here with me,” Soyoung smiled softly. “This is going to be so fun! This is the first time I’m out of the country together with you and Kyung!”

“Yeah, amazing, isn’t?” He agreed.

Zico wasn’t rich. Kyung wasn’t either. To say they even came to befriend her was actually a miracle. Rich people around the Seoul area were known to be snobby and selfish, while Soyoung and her family weren’t like that. Soyoung’s parents were more welcoming than ever and Soyoung wasn’t selfish like other rich kids. Then again, meeting the EXO boys sure did surprise Kyung and Zico, because a majority of the boys were rich but none of them seemed to be snobby nor selfish.

“So, ready to go out and explore?” he asked, earning Soyoung’s full attention.

“Right now?” she answered with a question in return. “But we just got here.”

“That doesn’t mean we can’t go right now,” he laughed as he stood. “I was just kidding anyways. I still need to unpack a bit and I’m sure you do too. I’ll meet you downstairs in, say, 30 minutes?”

Soyoung smiled and agreed, “30 minutes it is.”

Zico grinned and headed out of the hotel room as Soyoung’s heart raced. This was going to be one exciting weekend, despite the business event.

“It got moved to Sunday?” she gawked upon hearing the new information.

After going out with Zico, Kyung, and some of the EXO boys, some of them stayed back to sleep, they all met up with Soyoung’s parents and Luhan’s parents. The elders had called them to meet up at a restaurant that didn’t require the fanciness. It was the first time Soyoung’s parents met the EXO boys.

“Why?” Luhan asked, confusion crossing his face. Of course, he was more than happy to hear about it being pushed back to Sunday, but he was just curious to why they had moved it.

“Well, the person hosting this business event sent the message that the plane his daughter was to board today got delayed, so the business event was delayed as well,” Luhan’s mother explained as she sipped her water.

“Is his daughter the whole point of this event?” Tao perked up the question, not really into this whole business thing. Truth be told, he was only here for the heck of it. Tao’s parents weren’t really fond of the business world, afar from the fact that his parents owned a restaurant somewhere around Beijing. He only came to China with the rest to spend time with them and to visit his parents.

“No,” Suho answered for him, “She’s part of it.” Being the one who has the most interest in business out of their group of friends, Suho was the one who knew the most and was most updated with it. Before the adults have even said a word about the event being pushed back, Suho had already known. “She’s one of the many reasons why this event was set up, but she isn’t the whole point of the event.”

“I’m confused,” Yixing whispered to Chanyeol who only laughed at him. Like Tao, Yixing’s parents weren’t necessarily associated with business like Soyoung and Luhan’s parents while Chanyeol’s parents were. Although Chanyeol’s parents weren’t as big as Luhan and Soyoung’s parents, the two were within the circle, the reasoning of how Chanyeol knew about what was going on.

“Isn’t it obvious that you would be?” Chanyeol chuckled as some of the boys joined along, hearing their short responses.

“So we have today and tomorrow to do whatever we want?” Soyoung asked her parents, excitement shown in her eyes.

Some of the boys could only snicker. A girl has to be a girl.

Seeing the eager she had in her, the adults couldn’t help but laugh and gave an okay, causing for the female to cheer.

“So where should we go first?” She asked the boys in which each and every one gave her a surprised look.

“We?” Zico gawked. He hadn’t expected for them to go with her anywhere. He had thought that it would only be her, him, and Kyung.

“Quote that Kizo guy, but seriously, ‘We’?” Luhan gave a look of disbelief. Upon hearing his name pronounced wrong, Zico snickered quietly.

“It’s Zico,” Soyoung corrected Luhan with a roll of her eyes before nodding, “But yes, ‘We’, Mr. Dummies. I’m not familiar with China, so it’s only fair if you guys show me around, right?”

In front of the parents, Luhan sighed heavily. He can’t show disrespect here, and because of that reason, he nodded. “Fine, we’ll show you around.”

Zico sighed as Kyung laughed before patting the guy’s back.

“We should start by going to my parent’s restaurant first,” Tao volunteered happily. “It’s near here.”

“Yah, it’s a restaurant though,” Sehun reminded the guy. “We already ate here. If we go there on a full stomach, are we going to order anything? It’s more likely we’re not and it’s not nice to go to a restaurant and not buy any food.”

Kai agreed quickly, “He’s right. There’s no point of going to a restaurant if you’re not going to buy any food.”

“Oh, right,” Tao dejectedly sigh as the others pondered. “Why don’t you guys suggest a place then?”

“I barely know this place,” Kai argued as the others laughed along with the adults.

“Right,” Sehun agreed with his crescent moon eyes, “We don’t know the place.”

“How about we go to my grandmother’s place?” Kris suggested as the others looked at him. “Her place is huge and there’s a lot that we can do.”

Soyoung took interest right away. “Is her place pretty? Is must be pretty, right? If it’s a big house then she has a good view of the city too?”

“He said it’s huge,” Luhan reminded her with a snare. “Not on a mountain. Anyways, I think going to Kris’s grandmother’s place isn’t a bad idea.”

“But his grandmother’s place is an hour away,” Yixing remembered. The memory was still fresh in his mind. Although it was far away, the place was no joke, he had to agree.

“It’s worth it,” Kris chuckled. “It’s totally worth it to go there.”

“But if we go there, what time will we be back?” Baekhyun wondered. The adults looked carefully and observed the boys who were making decisions among themselves thoughtfully.

“If it’s an hour away, we’d probably get there around 4PM,” Kyung calculated and continued. “If we want to come back before midnight, we’d have to leave at 10 PM or so, so it gives us 6 hours at your grandmother’s place.”

Yixing laughed at his assumption and shook his head, “We won’t be back by midnight.”

The boys looked at him in confusion. “What do you mean?” Xiumin wondered.

Yixing looked over at Chen as the male’s eyes widen before bursting into laughter along with Yixing. The rest looked at the two as if they were psychos. Kris eventually understood what they were laughing about and chuckled along.

“We just won’t,” Chen laughed as he wiped away an escaping tear. “Kris’s grandma’s place is like a beautiful prison.”

Out of all of the boys, it was Chen and Yixing who visited his grandmother the most, and visiting her the most, they knew what was to come if they all were to go to her place. Kris, being her grandson, knew well what Chen had meant when he explained the place as a beautiful prison. He couldn’t help but agree more.

“Just trust us when we say you won’t get back by midnight,” Yixing laughed as he drunk his water to calm down from the laughter.

“At least explain to us why we won’t,”  Kyungsoo demanded. He wasn’t worried, but he was curious. They made it sound as if it was a bad thing, but in their eyes, it tells otherwise. “Just laughing it off makes you all look crazy.”

“Well, Kris’s grandma has a tendency to make you stay there,” Yixing explained after having laughed enough. “If we go, it’s more likely that she’ll make us sleep there for a night at least.”

“Is that a bad thing?” Luhan’s mom asked as the elders laughed, because to them, that sounded nothing like a bad thing.

Chen shook his head, “It’s not. We really enjoy staying there. It’s just, it might be a problem for them if they want to go there and come back by tonight.”

“Well, if you guys say it’s a nice place, why not spend the night there then?” Soyoung’s mom perked up. “You still have the rest of tomorrow to go around Beijing and the event doesn’t start till 7PM on Sunday night.”

“See?” Kris grinned. “We should all go then.”

“Well, if that’s the case then I guess going isn’t a bad idea,” Suho agreed, in which no one said anything against.

“Then it’s settled,” Kyungsoo grinned. Trip to Kris’s grandmother’s place, check.

Luhan's POV

I remembered her place. In fact, I remember it so well, it felt as if I was there just yesterday. I’m actually excited to go. Kris’s grandma is no joke. She’s a cool person for an old woman. She isn’t like other old women who nags all day and scold all day. If anything, she has a chill personality and likes to joke around. Maybe that’s where Kris gets his personality from.

Oh well. I’m just glad we’re heading there, and we’re almost there, in fact. The only downside about going there is that I’m the one driving. The rest are asleep. I hate driving long distance and would rather chill in the back and sleep. Sadly, I’m one of the best drivers out of us fifteen. Fifteen, me and the boys making it 12 adding on Soyoung, Kyung, and Kizo… or was it Zico? Eh.. Well, the parents had other meettings they had to attend, so they couldn't come with us.

Anyways, we came in three different vans, in which belonged to Kris’s parents' company. They handle an auto company, so renting these vans was a piece of cake. I drove a van, Kris drove one, and Suho drove the other.

How we decided who goes to whose van was easy. Rock, paper, scissors. Piece of cake.

Funny thing is, Soyoung continuously repeated that she was bad at the game. Since we entered the van, she’s been repeating that non-stop, saying how unfair it was to decide who goes to whose car because of that game. Honestly, I think she should feel lucky. I’m an elite driver, so she should be lucky for having to come to my van.

Whatever. No need to complain anymore, because we just arrived anyways.

I stopped the van as the workers opened up the gate before driving onto Kris's grandma's property, the other two vans following right along. I parked before turning off the engine. I didn’t realize it, but there was already a huge grin on my face. It feels good to be here. I quickly stretched before reaching to the people in the back.

I eagerly shook Kyungsoo’s leg. “Kyungsoo, we’re here,” I told him as his brows furrowed and he twitched slightly, ignoring me as he returned to his sleeping state. I rolled my eyes. I was sure that when we were on our way here, he was one excited pumpkin. So much for wanting to come here.

I moved on to the person beside him and shook him. “Yeol,” I spoke, “We’re here. Get up.” Like Kyungsoo, Chanyeol followed suit. Boy, these guys must’ve been tired.  “Park Chanyeol, wake up.”

I gave another shove at him, in which he finally peeped open his eyes before yawning and stretching. His eyes were blood shot red, and I knew then that he really was tired.

“We’re here already?” he rubbed his eyes before yawning again.

“Yeah,” I replied as I made an attempt to shake Kyungsoo again. “Soo, get up.”

The people in the back seemed to have heard me, well, at least Yixing did, because he was up too. Like Chanyeol, he yawned and rubbed his eyes. Are these guys really that tired? Sheesh.

“Yixing, wake Kai and Soyoung up,” I commanded as I opened the driver’s door and got out to open their door. “Kyungsoo, we’re here. Up, up. C’mon.”

Kyungsoo furrowed his eyes once more and finally gave in, forcing his eyes open. He blinked a couple of times before registering where we were. He sighed before giving a small stretch and slowly, and with extreme exhaustion, he got out of the car with Chanyeol right after him. Yixing followed right behind, leaving me a message also.

“You wake up Kai and Soyoung,” he said with a yawn. “I tried waking Kai up but he won’t budge, and Soyoung looks really tired. I don’t want to bother her.”

*No . You all look tired.* I thought as he passed by me. I sighed. If I hated anything more than being the driver of long trips, it’d be waking up the people that were fast asleep, especially Kai. The guy is a freaking boulder when he’s asleep. He won’t budge to wake up and he would barely respond. He’s one deep sleeper.

I climbed into the van and sat where Kyungsoo sat as I shook Kai.

“Kai,” I nudged him. No response. I rolled my eyes. “Kim Jongin,” I put more force into shaking him.

He reacted and shifted a bit, before letting his head nod off once again. *I should just leave him here.* I shook my head and decided to wake Soyoung up first.

I finally took a look at the female, who was beside Kai. Yixing was right. She did look tired. Earlier, when we were on the plane, I slept before her. I didn’t get to see how she looked when she’s fast asleep, but now that I do see how she sleeps, I didn’t want to wake her up. The way she slept was angelic like, although I would never admit it to anyone. Right then, I wondered, would she ever want to know how she looks like how she sleeps like? Because if she ever does ask, I should show her a photo of herself sleeping. She might be surprised how angelic she looks too.

Unknowingly, I fished out my phone and took a picture of her angelic sleeping figure. It was only then that I realized that I seem like a creeper that I flushed red. I quickly pushed the phone into my pocket and sighed. *What am I thinking? Angelic? Damn. I need sleep myself.* I shook my head and shook off my thoughts from earlier.

“Soyoung, we arrived,” I softly shook her, different from how I shook the others. She’s a girl. Treating girls different from boys is the right thing to do, so of course, I’d be more gentle with her. “Soyoung-a.”

She mumbled something I couldn’t quite make out before shifting in her spot and leaning her head against Kai’s shoulder in which the guy responded by resting his head on top of hers. I scoffed at the “lovely” sight. It made me want to gag. It… annoyed me.

Out of annoyance, I kicked Kai’s shin and shoved his head off of hers. The guy finally gave a lively response as he shouted in pain.

“Hyung, what was that for?” he complained with tired voice, not opening his eyes. Soyoung seems to have gotten a shock from it also and jerked awake.

“What’s wrong?” she asked as her eyes were wide open. She must’ve thought that we’ve gotten into some car accident or something, because that’s what her eyes were trying to look for.

I felt guilty for doing that to Kai, not because I had hurt him, but because I think I might’ve scared Soyoung from shock.

“Nothing,” I answered her and ignored Kai. “Just wanna tell you guys that we’re here.”

“Oh,” she relaxed before yawning and stretching, a smile spreading across her face. “I’m tired.”

“Same,” Kai agreed as he leaned against the seat, crossing his arms.

I scoffed, “C’mon. You’ve had enough sleep. Get moving.”

I left the van and stood beside the door as Soyoung got off as well. We waited for Kai, but the guy didn’t budge. I sighed. What a rock he was.

Soyoung, standing beside me, laughed. “Was this why you were so hesitant about not wanting Kai in our van?”

If I haven’t gone insane, I think my heart just did some flips when she said “our van”.

Ha! Yeah, like it would ever. Pfft. What am I thinking?

I shrugged in response, “Yeah.”

I watched her actions as she went inside the van again and sat in Chanyeol’s seat as she shook Kai.

“Kai,” she spoke softly, “Let’s go.”

I peeked in and saw Kai give a slight smirk.

“I’m tired,” he sighed.

It irked me. Kai’s action irked me and I wanted to kick the guy even harder. Now he’s just fooling around with her. I shouldn’t be bothered, but for some odd reason, I am.

Soyoung laughed slightly, which annoyed me even more. “It’d be rude not to say hi to Kris’s grandma.” She tugged at his arm.

Kai chuckled, “I know, but I’m sooooo tired.”

I scoffed inwardly as Soyoung continuously tugged at his arm.

“Not an excuse,” Soyoung reasoned with a huge smile. “Come on, Kai.” She poked his ribs, earning a jerk out of him. She continuously poked at him, causing the two the two to erupt in laughter, while I stood here, watching in disbelief.

*Since when did they get so close?!*

“Get up!” she commanded as she poked at him. “Get up! Get up! Get up!”

“Okay, okay!” Kai chuckled as he caught her hands. “I’m getting up. Stop poking me.”

Annoyed, I furiously shouted, “Stop being such immature kids and get the out of the van already!” I stomped away, ignoring their questioning stares that they were probably giving me. The others, who had just gotten out of their van as well, gave me a questioning look also, but I ignored them.

Soyoung and Kai for being so ing slow. them for wasting time like that. them for taking so long when I was waiting for them to get out. them for being such immature babies. them for being so annoying.

Damn.

And me for being annoyed with such a little interaction like that.
