Chapter 19

JUST Common Sense

No One's POV

"I need to talk to you," Zico whispered harshly, pulling Songhye aside while forcing a smile on in front of Mrs. Park before dragging her out of the room.

When the two had arrived at the hospital, Songhye was already in the room while Kyung was sitting on the armchair. Mrs. Park was livelier than ever, much better than before.

A wide smile was plastered on her face from seeing her daughter. It has been 3 years since she's seen her.

*Mrs. Park doesn’t know that Songhye wants to take her to the U.S...* This was all that Soyoung could think about.

She didn't want Mrs. Park to leave

*Would she want to go? Maybe I'm just being selfish because I don't want her to go. Maybe she does want to go.* She sighed quietly, not wanting to cause attention. *Then what about Kyung? Would Kyung leave too?*

The thought troubled her.

Never had she ever thought about Kyung leaving her. Not him or Zico.

But now that the subject is up, hanging in the air, she couldn't help but wonder.

She didn't want him to leave her. It didn't matter if they both fought a lot in the past. It didn't matter of he was mean to her in the past. It didn't even matter if he made fun of her and in the past. That was what Kyung does anyways. That was who he was. It was that, that made Kyung so special to her. It was what composed their friendship in the first place.

She'd rather him make fun of her to death than let him leave her.

Again, a sigh escaped her lips. *Kim Soyoung, stop being selfish. If he wants to go, he can go.*

"Is everything alright, Soyoung?" Mrs. Park offered to ask. Kyung looked over in wonder. He, too, was curious.

She was caught by surprise before forcing on a smile.

"I'm fine, Mrs. Park," she answered, smiling sheepishly. Of course, she can't tell her what's bothering her.

At the thought that the two people in the room with her right now would leave her soon saddened her. The air quickly got stuffy as Soyoung started to feel her breathing become heavy. She got up abruptly, surprising Mrs. Park and Kyung.

"I... I'm gonna go get a drink," Soyoung lied. "I'll be back."

She quickly left the room before the two could ask anything else.

Soyoung quickly rushed down the hall before exiting out to the stairs. The cold air hit her and she quickly calmed down.

*You almost lost it back there, you dummy!* she scolded herself before slumping onto the top step.

She let out a long sigh.

"What's wrong with me?" she muttered, frowning at herself.

"Is everything okay?" a familiar voice spoke up.

She gasped, not expecting him to follow her.

"Kyung, you scared me!" Soyoung scolded, holding her chest. It was just an excuse, really.

Kyung managed a mini smirk and immediately, Soyoung's heart clenched. Yup, she would totally miss his smirks.

The said male walked forward and sat beside her.

"You're one bad liar, you know that, tadpole?" his signature smirk stayed on his face.

Soyoung scowled. "Is that my new nickname or something?"

"Sure," Kyung shrugged. "Why? Hate it?”

"Very much," she replied immediately.

"Good to know, tadpole."

And it became silent. Soyoung didn't even give a comeback. She couldn't. How could she? She had tried. She really did, but it hurts to even do so. Why?

Because she'd just miss their quarrels more if she makes a comeback. She'd miss him more.

"Why are you acting so strange today?" Kyung finally broke the ice. "You're awfully quiet. What's up?"

*Reality punched me in the face, that's what.* "Nothing," Soyoung replied. She swallowed back from spilling her feelings.

She never felt right telling Kyung about her problems. It was always Zico who she would talk to things about, but today felt oddly different. She actually wanted to talk to Kyung about how she's feeling, but she won't. Of course not, especially when it’s about him and his mom.

"Didn't I just tell you that you're a bad liar?" Kyung scoffed. "Why are you lying again?"

Soyoung didn't give an immediate reply. She didn’t even want to reply. She didn’t know when Kyung had started observing her to even know when she’s lying.

After some silence, Soyoung took a deep breath.

“Are you --” Soyoung began but reformed her question. “Is your mom really leaving for the states?”

Kyung’s expression returned to its troubled state, how Zico and Soyoung found him when they arrived a bit ago. Yet, Kyung placed on a soft smile.

“I don’t know,” he replied honestly. “Songhye wants her to go, but my mom doesn’t even know about it yet.”

Soyoung looked away willingly. Her eyes soften as she kept her gaze at her hands. “Do you want her to go?”

“Honestly speaking, I do,” Kyung responded after a minute of silent, catching Soyoung by surprise. That was the last thing she thought would come out of his mouth. Kyung chuckled lightly. “It’s weird, isn’t it? That I would want her to go?”

Soyoung could only nod.

“It’s good for her,” Kyung explained. “Songhye can easily take care of her.”

“You take perfect care of your mom already,” Soyoung nudged him. “You’ve been doing it for here years now. You can do it for as long as you live.”

“You think?” Kyung felt proud for hearing those words. It had meant that he had been accomplishing his goal of taking care of his mother.

“No,” Soyoung smiled gently. “I know it.”

Kyung let out a laugh before sighing. “Songhye’s practically rich over there in the States, unlike me who can barely support my own mother here. I want my mom to go with her so that my mom won’t have to worry about not using too much money and saving it for me. I think it’s best to let my mom go with Songhye. Plus, Songhye said that the hospitals and doctors over there are excellent and are able to cure her better than here. That’s what I want the most. I don’t want to keep living, always praying that my mom will live with me another day.”

Soyoung gazed at her best friend. For the first time, in a long time, he was actually opening up to her about what he was thinking. And this time, he was being serious. He wasn’t joking about this matter, and Soyoung couldn’t help but frown. It wasn’t a bad thing that he was opening up. In fact, it was a great thing.

“So if she’s taking your mom,” Soyoung tried her best to form the question, “You won’t try to stop her?”

“Nope,” he smiled sincerely.

“What about you?” she wondered. “Are you going to leave me too?”

Upon realizing what she had just said, Soyoung mentally face-palmed herself. How could her question slip out just like that in such a form. Kyung arched an eyebrow.

“What does that mean?” he asked as he leaned back against the wall, looking over at the female. When he realized that Soyoung wasn’t going to explain herself, Kyung sighed. He knew what she meant. “Well, Songhye offered for me to go with them.”

At his answer, Soyoung’s eyes widened.

When she had only thought about the fact that he might leave her side, possibly her world, she was uneasy. She was bothered. She was anxious. Now, hearing it from his own lips, she grew afraid. She grew terrified. She didn’t want to lose him. She didn’t want him to go, no matter how annoying he may be at times.

She wouldn’t meet his eyes and swallowed back her tears. “Are you going to go then?”

“I have three more days to make my decision,” Kyung replied as he looked down at his shoes.  He quieted for some seconds. He was hesitant if he should tell her about the chance probability of him going. Maybe he should, maybe he shouldn’t. “I think I’m going to go,” he finally spoke.

Soyoung’s oxygen was cut off. She felt her world spinning as her eyes blurred immediately after hearing his words. *He’s going. He’s going to leave. Kyung’s going to leave.* The words chanted in her head as her tears spilled unwillingly.

Kyung looked over at her only to be shocked. Her tears were endless. He didn’t expect her to cry. He didn’t expect her to even tear up. Maybe he had thought she would feel quite sad, but never cry.

“Soyoung-a,” Kyung softened.

Sure, he’s seen her cry some times before in the past, but not like this. Soyoung was never one to cry in front of anyone. She was one to always keep her pride, so crying in front of people was always a big no-no for her.

“Is it selfish for me to say that I don’t want you and your mom to leave?” She managed out as she tried wiping her tears away. She hadn’t intended to cry and she hated the fact that Kyung was seeing her cry right this moment.

Kyung never knew how to comfort her. He was never one to comfort, but seeing her state right now, Kyung couldn’t help but move over to her side and embraced her in which she immediately returned. She clung onto him as if her life depended on it.

“If you want an honest answer,” Kyung remained in his position as the female cried onto him, “Then yes, it is selfish of you. But if you want a comforting answer, then no, of course not. It’s not selfish at all.”

Kyung thought hard before a soft grin surpassed on his lip.

“It’s okay for you to be selfish though,” he comforted her, patting her back. “Because I’m selfish for wanting to drag you with me.”

And just with his words, Soyoung cried harder than ever and held on tighter than before. Now, she really doesn’t want him to go, and she’d pray every night until the day he comes down to a final decision.

“What do you want?” she hissed at Zico. The venom in her voice showed perfectly as so did her eyes that glared straight at him.

“The question is what do you want?” Zico snapped back.

He had dragged her outside. Yes, all the way from the third floor to the back of the hospital. He didn’t care if he had hurt her in any way nor did he care if she complained about her wrist hurting. He just wanted to get to the point.

Songhye scoffed. “You’re the one who took me here in the first place after telling me days ago that you have nothing to say to me.”

“Why did you come back?” His glare on her was strong, and if glares could kill, Songhye would have ended up first in hell before her coffin.

“My family is here --”

“Don’t use your family as a damn excuse!” Zico shouted at her, cutting her off. He quickly lowered her voice. “Your family was here three years ago, and you left just like that. To use your family as an excuse for coming back is pathetic!”

She rolled her eyes. Of course, she should’ve known.

“But I’m being honest,” she answered. “I came back for my family.”

“And after three years, why did you come back for them when you were the one to abandon them?” Zico’s fist was clenched tightly.

A smirk spread across Songhye’s face. “My ex-boyfriend is still smart as ever, isn’t he?”

Disgust crossed Zico’s face. He was disgusted to be called that. He was disgusted that he was once her boyfriend. The thought disgusted him to the core. “Shut up.”

“You smartness, till now, still irks me immensely,” Songhye spoke firmly. “It’s annoying, just like your personality.”

“Why did you come back?” Zico snapped once again. When it came to Songhye, his patience always short. It was always thin around her.

“I heard that my mom was sick, so I came back to check on her.” Her matter-of-factly attitude annoyed him. He knew it was a lie.

An obvious lie.

“What?” He wanted to laugh. “Came back to check on her? You’re really on a roll since you came back. You make everyone want to laugh at you.”

Songhye tighten her jaw. She had always hated speaking to him alone because she always loses. In what argument they were in, she always loses because his points were always stronger and they always hurt her more than they should.

“Are you done yet or not?” Songhye remained calm. “I’m going to go back up --”

“Don’t take them with you,” he muttered. “Go back alone and don’t take them with you, Songhye.”

She halted and looked at him. She was surprised to find Zico defeated. His expression; he looked lost. His eyes that were filled with a mix of anger were replaced with sadness and she could clearly see it.

“And why should I listen to you?” she shot at him.

“Because I’m your ex-boyfriend,” he finally admitted. “And I’m your brother’s best friend.”

“Being my ex-boyfriend wouldn’t help anything, big boy,” Songhye smirked. She liked this. She liked the feeling of over-powering Zico. “And being the best friend of my brother isn’t anything important to me. In fact, it only puts you on the bad side.”

“Then I’m your first love!” Zico challenged. He had to do anything, say anything, to make her change her mind, and he knew this one had really gotten her. He could see the shock that quickly spread across her face. “I’m your first love, Songhye. At least consider this for me.”

“B-being my first love has nothing to do with this situation!” she stuttered, trying to make her point. “We were over years ago. How can you just bring it up like this in this situation that has no ties with it?!”

“As your first love, your ex-boyfriend, and your brother’s best friend, please, do me this favor,” Zico pleaded. “You still owe me my one favor, don’t you remember? You said so yourself. I know you remember, Songhye.”

She clenched her fist tightly before shouting her outburst. “Shut up! I hate hearing your annoying voice!”

And with that, she stormed off inside before he could say anything else.

Zico sulked and leaned against the building. *Don’t take them with you, Songhye. Please. I’ll get on my knees if I have to… Please don’t.*

"You can't be serious," he whined, resting his head in his hands. "We were supposed to go the movies today and we already bought the damn tickets. Because of you, we wasted over $100 and now it’s all going to waste."

"Hey, it's not my fault that I ate your freaking spoiled Fish cake," Chanyeol hissed as he rubbed his stomach. "Who leaves spoiled food out anyways?"

"Don't you know better than to eat someone else's food when you're at their place?" Chen retorted back.

"You two, be quiet," Kris ordered with a heavy sigh. "You're giving me a head ache."

"You're not the only one, duizhang," Tao agreed, rubbing his temples.

"Chanyeol's not wrong though. Who does leave expired food out on the table?" Kai thought, taking onto the giant's side.

"Thank you!" Chanyeol exclaimed, glad that someone saw his point. "Wouldn't you have eaten it?"

"Oh, shut up," Chen ordered, not quite pleased with the fact that Kai was choosing Chanyeol's side. "No one told him to eat it without asking. If he had asked, he wouldn't have be here in the first place."

"We've known each other since forever!" Chanyeol retorted. "Since when do we ask each other to eat our food? Who even does that around here?"

"I do," Lay offered to answer. Chen gave Chanyeol a victorious smirk.

"He does," Chen repeated after Lay.

"He's Lay, though! Only Lay would do that," the giant stressed.

"Would you two shut up?!" Luhan bellowed, shutting the two up. "Damn, you guys are annoying."

Today wasn’t a good day at all. He had a nightmare, causing him to wake up to a bad morning. He had to skip lunch because he had to send his grandmother, who barely stayed with them, to the airport. Right afterwards, Yun Yi asked him to buy some stickers at the stationary store for Mei Lien as the little girl had been begging since forever. Once he reached home, Mei Lien asked to go to the mall because she wanted to shop around, and so that was what they did. After sending Yun Yi and Mei Lien back to his place, he had told them that the guys were planning to go to the movies around 7PM and told them to be ready by them, and told them that he’ll be back by then as he had to go run some errand. Of course, he had lied about that part. He just wanted to go out and eat. He didn’t want to eat in front of them because he told the two that he already had his lunch. That’d be embarrassing to eat again. But as he was on his way to a fast food restaurant, he had an urgent call from Xiumin about Chanyeol, and being the good friend that he was, Luhan zoomed passed the fast-food restaurant and headed for the hospital only to see this.

This was the situation Luhan was in right now.

And just to remind, a hungry man can be easily angered, and at most, crabby.

*Damn, how am I supposed to tell Yun Yi and Mei Lien that the event is canceled?* Luhan sulked to himself quietly. *Damn. I’m so hungry.*

“Someone’s in a bad mood,” Chanyeol mumbled, rolling his eyes. Luhan sent him a glare that caused the giant to turn away in fright.

“Yeah, what’s up, Luhan?” Baekhyun offered to ask. “You’re pretty quiet today.”

“Must’ve been something with Yun Yi,” Sehun replied with a slight chuckle. “You all know how Luhan is about Yun Yi.”

This time, it was Sehun who received the glare.

“Shut your mouth,” Luhan hissed. He could hear his stomach growl from hunger and frowned. *I really need something to eat. I can’t hold out long before I start raging at the guys for my fault.* Luhan sighed, “I’ll be back. I’m gonna go for a bit.”

Before anyone could say anything, Luhan headed out of Chanyeol’s hospital room.

When he left, the room became awfully quiet.

“Yup, it has to be something about Yun Yi,” Sehun broke the silence, causing everyone to burst into laughter.

Author's Note♥:

Finally! I finally got to update! I've been wanting to do so since forever! Be glad, I chose updating over studying for a huge exam tomorrow and over a huge homework packet that's due tomorrow. I'm probably going to have to stay up tonight, but I won't regret. It was totally worth it to update rather than do homework! Anyways, you guys got to see a different side of Luhan today! What do you think? Is it cute, or is it terrifying? Hehe. And of course, I can't leave out the humble guy, Park Kyung!!! You guys got to see more of him too ;)
I really like this side of Kyung, just saying~ Haha.

ANYWAYS!

Have you guys seen the results for YG's WIN?! I was so upset, yet, I was happy too! It was so upsetting! I wanted Team B to win, but I also wanted Team A to win too & it was so hard to choose. Then the results came & I cried. I watched the ending of it and it was so saddening. Team B Though! It sure had me crying for decades, but either ways, I'm glad the winning team won :) I would've been contented with any of the teams. Honestly, they both deserve to debut! I see a lot of potential in both teams and so it was hard for me to choose. If only they can all debut together. -Sigh-

On the other hand, JYP!!! His upcoming debuts! I can't wait! I'm so excited! Why? Because I just am. Haha. Especially because 3rd Degree's Brian is a possible candidate! I missed that guy so much!!! & I'm even more excited for November!!! EXO's Coming back?! What?! & Not just EXO, but also VIXX &&& So much more!!! Not joking! I'm so excited! Not to mention that tomorrow is HALLOWEEN!!! Gonna get high off of sugar! XD
