Sixteen year old Taemin grinned as Kai wrapped his arm around his waist, the two standing on the sidewalk. Taemin's parents were inside, along with his uncle Onew and Jonghyun. The parents had a few drinks, all of them successfully being drunk. They had the countdown on the television inside, the volume up to the max and they could still hear it outside.

"It's almost the new year, babe." Kai smirked, kissing Taemin's temple.

"I know, isn't it exciting?" Taemin laughed, taking a sip of the sparkling apple cider he held in his hand.

They laughed as they heard the adults talking loudly in a drunken stupor. They looked in the window, snorting as they saw them dancing with party hats and drinks in their hands.

"It's not even midnight yet." Taemin smirked, looking at his boyfriend.

They waited a few more minutes for the new year, sitting on the curb and looking at the stars together.

"It's weird to think that other people aren't going to be in the new year for almost another day." Taemin took a sip of his cider.

"I know, right? It's like we're in the future." Kai smirked, wrapping his arm around Taemin's shoulder.

"Taeminnie! The countdown's gonna start!" Key yelled from the house, giggling as he walked back inside.

"10!"

The two stayed where they were, able to hear the countdown from the curb.
