Chapter 48: No Air
LOVE NEVER SLEEPS (My Heart's Candy)
February 7, 2013...
“Oppa, have a nice day at work...!” Fany beamed at the suited man.
“Mmm, and also, I’m gonna be back very late, so don’t wait up for me...” he pecked her lips before disappearing behind their apartment door.
“Hmm, he’s getting a lot busier these days...” she mumbled to herself before getting ready for school.
At the campus...
“Tiffany-ssi...” a man called for her. She turned around and flashed the man a smile.
“SeulOng sunbae... is there anything I could help you in?”
“Uhmm, I just wanna ask you something...” he said as Fany just stared at him waiting for his question. He looked around before approaching her closer. “What kind of chocolates does SoHee like..?” he asked in a whisper.
She laughed a little noticing how the man was a little worried about the upcoming love occasion. “She doesn’t like things that are too sweet... so I guess dark chocolates, then...” she replied with a smile.
The man just thanked her with a nod and a shy smile. Fany then patted his shoulder before heading into her next class. “Sunbae, fighting!” she yelled at the corner of the hallway before disappearing into her lecture room.
After a few hours of lectures and free periods, class was finally over for SoHee and Fany. They rode Fany’s car and minutes later, arrived at a cafe where the rest of the girls were actually waiting. It was another girl’s night, since all their boyfriends and brothers were “busy” somewhere else.
“Hey, do you think our men are planning something for Valentine’s that’s why they’ve been missing in action these past few days?” JiEun asked as they relaxed by the couches.
“Hmm, I don’t think my man would be doing that... you know him, he’s not that good at keeping things secret from me and I would have already found out about it by now if he did prepare something... remember when he bought me a rose and hid it inside his jacket and it was really noticeable that I found it hard not to laugh at him..?” GaIn shook her head in disappointment. “Plus, I always see him inside the agency doing his job until late at night... if not, reading some child parenting books...”
“Good point, I don’t think our men are great secret keepers anyways... oppa’s ears would turn red when he’s lying and I haven’t noticed that his ears turned that red...” Fany chimed in and the rest of the girls nodded in strong agreement.
“I’m not sure about Khun oppa though... he’s always prepared an event for unni...” Suzy commented. “But difference is, I haven’t noticed flowers, balloons or anything in his room though...” she continued before taking a bite of her carrot cake.
“But it wouldn’t quite normal if he didn’t prepare anything for me... I’m already used to his surprises...” Vic commented.
“But I know someone’s who’s prepared something...” Fany teased and the others grew curious. “I’m not gonna tell...” she added a lip zipping gesture. She shot a glance at SoHee and some of the girls caught it and understood Fany’s eyes.
“Anything weird from Kyu?” SoHee asked her best friend.
“None at the moment... like you girls, we haven’t talked much this past few days... but we still talk on the phone during breaks... we just don’t see each other face to face... I think he has some business negotiations in Ilsan... he’s been going back and forth at Ilsan... But he’s not the type of man to do some events or surprises, so I’m not really expecting much...” Sun replied while munching on her cookie.
The others understood since the way Kyu asked Sun to be his girlfriend was a lot duller than what their boyfriends did. He just gave her roses, held her hand and whispered in her ear the question.
“How about Woo oppa?” Sun asked her sister.
“Dunno..., haven’t spoke to him for quite a while now... he just came back from his business trip in HongKong and aside from handing me his souvenirs, I haven’t seen him yet... I think oppa is overworking my sweety Woo...” she pouted already planning on complaining at her brother. “Unni, please tell oppa not to overwork my boyfriend...” she requested Fany.
“The problem is, that’s the same case for me... he always comes home late and leaves early.., we don’t even get to have some quality time nowadays... he would just leave after breakfast... then just giving me a short peck on the lips, saying “don’t wait up for me” and disappearing right after, not even looking at me or hearing what I would be saying next...” she voiced out her complaints imitating Taec’s deep voice.
“He’s changed quite a lot, before even how busy he was, he would make time for me and to ask me if I’ve eaten already, but now I don’t even receive a text or something... I haven’t heard him talk about a big project that would make him as busy as this... is that the difference of being a best friend and a girlfriend? Once he’s gotten me, he would just care less?” she continued controlling her emotions as tears threatened to fall on her face. The girls came closer and consoled her.
“I understand you unni... but don’t forget that oppa’s not that type of person... you’ve known him that long, so you should not doubt him... though he truly has a fault in this...” JiEun comforted her sister-in-law.
“Girls, I think we need to teach our men some lesson... they’ve been ignoring us quite a lot these days...” Vic suggested.
“What do you mean?” Suzy asked.
“Tomorrow’s Friday and it’s a gimmick night a the bar for the group... what if we came VERY late and dress up a little more provocative and make them jealously annoyed... just to teach them a lesson not to forget that some girls are actually waiting for them at home...” the ol
