~Yumi~

It was kind of impossible to imagine the pain that JaeJoong had gone through. The misery, the hardships and the loneliness. All the struggle just to get to where he was, to the position he's in today. It was also hard to understand how he got himself through all of that, all by himself, with no support, only with his inner strength and his own mind and his own determination.

I let out a quiet sigh as I lied down on the bed and stared at the boring ceiling as I kept thinking about the conversation between the two of us. Not only did I notice the pain, the struggle and the regret that reflected in his eyes but I sometimes saw the love he once had for Yuri, that was now vanished and gone. The scarred heart she left him with and the now healed scars that he had healed during the centuries of running away from her.

What was even more shocking was that.. she was now after revenge and she wanted him to feel the exact same thing that she felt when he took away the one that she loved.

I couldn't imagine JaeJoong being like that. Heartless, cold, furious and so full of vengeance. It was hard since the tender and loving JaeJoong that I had by my side now, it made him sound like a monster, describing himself as a assassin which he wasn't

It was so.. tragic and sad to hear that

"You're.. thinking about Yuri?"

I looked up to see Junsu enter with something in his hands, a big white box and a bag which I soon recognized as mine

"Is that.. for me?" I asked and looked at him

"Changmin and Jae went over to your house and got the stuff he thought you might need because we're not.. really feeling safe or comfortable with letting you go home tonight until we're 100 % sure that you're alright. I don't think your aunt mind because they left a note about them going to your grandmother for 2 days so they are not in town so that means that you can spend the night here for 2 days. They also said that you seemed like you needed to be here, mostly because of school and also because you seemed like you were going through a rough time which is pretty understandable and that you should give them a call by tonight" Junsu smiled

"Oh boy..." I gasped

"I know we're amazing right?" Junsu chuckled

"Don't think too highly of yourself" I rolled my eyes jokingly, causing Junsu to laugh at me even more

"Here, call them. So that they can rest their minds for the day and not worry about you" Junsu said and handed over his phone

I nodded and dialed their number and after the talk with aunt, which took me a few minutes, I hung up and handed the phone back over to Junsu

"Did it scare.. you?"

His sudden question took me by surprise and I stopped unpacking as I spun around and looked at him

"You mean when Yuri... " I swallowed hard, not being able to finish the sentence

"Yes" Junsu said

"I'm.. alive" I whispered and looked at him, he stayed quiet

"I'm alive and.. I'm still here.. completely healthy and okay, not wounded. I'm not even in a hospital. That sounds freaky and crazy and completely like I'm a psycho but.. yeah I'm scared to death Junsu and I would be stupid if I wasn't and all of this.. everything.. Supernatural things, vengeance.. vampires.. everything. It's like I'm not living on the planet called earth anymore.." I said

"I know.. and I know this is a lot to take in"

"It is. But if I think more throughly about this, I'm happy"

Junsu raised an eyebrow in confusion, scratched the back of his head as he looked at me

"Happy?"

"I met.. you guys. Amazing people even though you're vampires. You don't feel like vampires to me.. except when your eyes changes and when you drink blood and using your.. speed, your awesome sense or whatever. You feel.. like humans" I smiled

Junsu's smiled could bring happiness to any kind of person since his smile was so wide and so bright that it was almost like it was his birthday

"I can't believe you just said that" He smiled

He then chuckled and in a second he was hugging me tightly

"Said what? That you're human?" I laughed and pulled away from him

"Yes! You have no idea how happy that makes me feel, or any of us. Changmin was right.. you're really special Yumi" He said

"So are you" I said

Junsu chuckled even more but soon he just smiled at me, happily looking at me while I tilted my head to the side and sat down on the bed

"Don't be afraid Yumi. We will protect you, at any costs and.. we will not let her get away with this"

"She's hurting.. and still mourning.. even though it happened 300 years ago" I shrugged

"But it doesn't give her the excuse to kill you" Junsu said

"But JaeJoong shouldn't have killed her soulmate either" I whispered

"He was a newborn, a newly transitioned vampire. He was out of control" Junsu said

"I know" I sighed

Suddenly a knock was heard by the door and I saw Changmin enter along with JaeJoong. Changmin smiled brightly at me as he was drinking blood I think while JaeJoong had a tray with some fruits and water on

"Hey there" JaeJoong smiled

"Hi"

"I gotta go and hunt, took you long enough!" Junsu said and disappeared quickly as Changmin chuckled at him

"Feeling okay?" Changmin asked

I nodded

"I'm fine" I said

"Do you want to take a shower before eating?" JaeJoong asked

I nodded

"If that is okay?" I asked

"Of course it is, we'll leave you alone" Changmin smiled

After 30 minutes when I was finally done, I got out of the shower, drying my hair with the towel and I saw JaeJoong sitting by the chair while Changmin was leaning against the wall

"Smells good" Changmin teased

"Shut up" I laughed, which both of them soon joined in

"Is something wrong?" I asked as I sat down on the bed

"Nope, just checking up on you" Changmin smiled

"Oh, I'm fine.. the wound healed quickly and I'm just tired" I said

"Yunho is calling for you"

I looked at JaeJoong who was looking at Changmin

"I didn't hear that?" Changmin said dumbfounded

JaeJoong chuckled

"He did, you should go before he's gonna let his anger out"

"Oh I heard him now"

I couldn't even hear Yunho calling for Changmin but apparently he wasn't screaming but more like talking and saying Changmin's name. Changmin however disappeared and I was left alone with JaeJoong who had showered and changed his clothes

"How are you feeling?"

"Can't just everybody stop asking me that?" I rolled my eyes tiredly

"We can but we're just worried. It wasn't a normal thing that happened to you tonight" JaeJoong said and walked over to me and tucked me in under the bed, since he probably got the feeling that I wasn't going to eat. I was deadly tired in fact and he seemed to notice that

He was quick to take the place right next to me and I curled up in his arm as he embraced me warmly and leaned his head against mine as I leaned onto his chest

"I know but nothing has been really normal for a few weeks now" I said

"Is that a bad thing?" He asked

"It has its disadvantages but not.. that bad" I said

"I'm sorry"

"Stop" I said and sighed

"I don't know what to say..."

"Then just stay quiet and hug me" I chuckled lightly which caused him to chuckle as well

The silence took over and I was more than aware of him listening to my heartbeats as I was closing my eyes, feeling the tiredness once again taking over me as I was in JaeJoong's arms

"There's one question I'd like to ask you" I whispered, wanting the answer before falling asleep

"Anything" He said

"How do you know that you're over Yuri? That the wounds that she caused are healed and.. that you don't love her anymore?"

I sat up and looked into his eyes as he looked back at me, straightening himself up

"She cheated on me. She used me. I was her toy. She broke my heart and with time, even heart heals. It took me a decades but.. it did heal. A person who you love, that you think are the right one but does something like this when you've trusted them, put your heart in their hands, that is one you should never let into your life again, despite the deep feelings for them" JaeJoong said

I swallowed hard as he continued on

"I'm not saying that I am a better person because I'm not but.. I'm trying best to become better even though I cannot erase the mistakes I made in my past. Regarding Yuri.. I will never be able to forget her because that is not how the vampire brain works because we remember everything. But Yumi.. I wouldn't give you my heart and make you trust me with your own if I didn't have my own heart to start with. If Yuri still had it in her hands, I wouldn't be able to love you like I do now. I would never do anything to hurt you..." He whispered as he caressed my cheek slightly

I smiled tremendously, happily back at him as he smiled back

"She might broke it hundreds of years ago but I healed and I was whole when I gave it to you, when I fell in love wih you so are you not a rebound and definitely not a girl that I'm using just to make Yuri jealous. She doesn't exist in my life.. since you're there and it's enough  with one girl" He said

I smiled even more as I chuckled embarrassed at his confession that he was making at the moment

"I'm over her, My wounds are healed and she's out of my life. I do not love her Yumi, she was long gone out of my heart before you were even born" He chuckled, making me dumbfounded which caused me to hit him lightly on his shoulder

He laughed hardly before looking back at me again

"So there is absolutely nothing to worry about because I'm being sincere and honest with you. I love you" He said

I smiled happily at him before lying down again, letting him embrace me lovingly and just lean against his chest, hearing him breathing

"Was that enough for you or would you like more confirmations?" He asked jokingly

"If you must?" I joked

He sighed

"I'd rather not" He said and kissed my forehead

"It was more than enough.. my heart can rest at ease now" I whispered

"Have you been worried about this? Thinking a lot about this?" He asked, suddenly sounding very serious

I shrugged lightly

"I don't know. It might have happened centuries ago but.. having her here now.. might cause some old feelings to appear" I said

"That won't happen. I hate her" he said

"And she hates you but before you hated each other... you loved each other"

"She didn't love me" He whispered

"But you did..." I whispered

JaeJoong let out a quiet sigh

"I'm really.. no.."

"JaeJoong I know.. alright? I'm just scared that she will use that against you.. what you used to feel, it can become an advantage for her.. and a disadvantage for us" I said and looked at him

He looked back at me and I saw the expression in his eyes. He knew that I was right

"But then I will not allow her to have that as an advantage" He said

"You never know... she can use anything against you"

"Which makes you the main target"

I was quieten and so was he. The atmosphere changed from loving to seriousness. It was weird but I knew that this wasn't going to be our last talk about her. Because she played a big role at the moment and that also means that she could do anything to harm JaeJoong or the other guys..

"Is she really capable of doing such horrible things?" I whispered

"I don't... know" He said

"But she will try to do anything and everything right?" I asked

"Yes"

I quieten once more and let out a heavy sigh

"But not a single scratch will be found on you, I won't let anything happen to you"

"What about you then?" I asked

"Me? Are you worrying about me? Yumi, I'm the last person you should be worrying about" He said, not being able to believe what I just said

"You are not the last person I should worry about. Not the guys either. You might be stronger than me and you might have some advantages but that doesn't make me care less for you and be able to rest my mind at ease just because you're able to protect yourself against her"

"We have a good chance to take her down more than you do, so the only thing you should worry about is yourself" JaeJoong said

"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ME HERE!" I sighed angrily and got up from the bed

"What is it that I don't understand? That I'm able to protect you and that I can at the same time protect myself?"

"NO! You're talking about yourself and so does the other guys, that you're ready to sacrifice your life for me!" I said

"BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT WE'RE GOING TO DO IF WE HAVE TO!" JaeJoong said

He got out of bed and stopped in front  of me, putting both of his hands on my shoulders as he looked me in the eyes

"For centuries we haven't been able to approach a human since we were scared of being neglected, avoided and mostly rejected. We thought you humans wouldn't understand us and here you are, able to bring out all the feelings, the humanity in us and you think that we're not willing to die for you?"

"You're talking nonsense! DIE FOR ME? Have you gone insane? !" I shouted

"That's the thing Yumi. We haven't. We've lived our lives for so long already and you barely started yours, you haven't even started living"

"No, You.."

"Yes I can and I will. I can't think about a more better reason to die"

"Do not say that!" I said angrily

"I fell in love with you.. and the other guys has fallen as well. Not in that way but the things you give us.. you have no idea how much that means"

"I haven't given you anything" I protested

"Yes you have, unknowingly. Your brought the humanity out in us and.. you make us feel like we're humans. And you have no idea how much we've missed that"

The longing and the soft voice as he said that, it was almost impossible for me to NOT believe him. Not that he didn't give me any kind of reason to believe but it was just hard to understand their longing, their desire to become a human again

"I don't understand why you guys would long after this life.. You have an eternal life, supernatural senses.. an"

"But we are monsters, hunters. Murderers! Don't you see that? It lies in our nature to kill. With this life nothing but disadvantages comes with it while being a human, you have thousands of possibilities that you're able to do" He said

"Like going through heartaches? Pain? Not being able to protect the ones you love?" I whispered

"No, to have a life, a future. This life is doomed. If I was a human Yumi, I would be able to do so many things for you"

"Who said you couldn't?"

He quieten and looked at me disbelievingly, I just kept staring back at him

"What is it that you're trying so hard to protect me from? I don't need to be protected from anything" He said

"YOURSELF !!!!!!" I shouted angrily

He stared at me

"YOURSELF JAE! I'M TRYING TO PROTECT YOU FROM YOURSELF! THOSE MEMORIES OF PAIN AND HURT! THOSE FEELINGS THAT YOU ONCE FELT FOR HER! DON'T YOU THINK THAT I KNOW THAT THEY REAPPEAR AS SOON AS YOU SEE HER OR TALK ABOUT HER?!"

I saw him swallowing his words as he looked at me

"Rather than protecting myself I'd rather protect you from the heartache that you suffered from. I don't want you to feel like that which you did back then.. Not even vampires are immune to that" I whispered
