"How is she doing?" Yunho asked as he came back in with another bowl with hot water and a towel

I watched Yumi breathing heavily, tiredly lying on the couch, carefully tucked in by Changmin and Junsu by her side as he kept checking on her. I know it should be since I was the one who was afterall an educated doctor but I just didn't feel that it was right of me, or even fair of me to stay by her side right now since I was the one who caused this

"She's stable" I whispered as I let out a heavy sigh, covering my face for a split second and then walking over to the bar

"Now mind explaining what happened tonight? I was out hunting and I come home and the 3rd world war already broke out" Yoochun said and folded his arms over his chest

"We thought.. you were in danger" Junsu said

"What kind of danger? I was completely fine" Yoochun said confused

"Not according to this stone" Yunho said

Yoochun took the stone and watched it and then looked around

"So you thought I was in danger somewhere and you ran after me, leaving Yumi behind? Are you stupid?" Yoochun asked

"We thought it was the pack of vampires going after you. Alone, fighting them, you would've died" I said

"But I'm still a vampire, I could run, give you guys a call while running anything. Yumi is just a human!" Yoochun said upset

"We know. I made a mistake. I thought that the house would keep her safe as long as she didn't respond to anything outside the house and didn't invite anyone" I said, being angry at myself

"So you met this guy Jun?" Yoochun asked

"Exactly. Apparently he was just a distraction so that Yuri could threaten and.. hurt.. Yumi" Changmin said

"And Yuri.. she's an ex of yours?" Yoochun asked and looked at me

I sighed

The silence took over as I felt all the eyes on me. I hadn't told them about my transformation, everytime they brought it up, I managed to dodge the questions but I knew I wasn't able to do it this time. Mostly because if we had to co operate in helping Yumi, protecting her, I knew I had to tell the truth

"JaeJoong, tell us about Yuri" Junsu said and stood up

"What.. do you want to know?" I whispered, knowing that they would be able to hear it

"Everything. Why is she coming for you? Why would she hurt Yumi? What is she doing here and what is she capable of?" Yunho asked, wanting to analyze everything

I took a one shot of the alcohol and poured myself another one and looked down on Yumi who was still sleeping tiredly

"I met Yuri about a year before I became a vampire. I fell in love with her at the first sight and I also knew that she was the one I wanted to spend my life with. I was prepared, ready to give up everything I had just to be with her. I couldn't think of anything else because if she was by my side, I was able to do anything, no matter what" I mumbled

"Was she already a vampire then?" Changmin asked

"Yes.. she was. But she didn't know so much about the life as a vampire. I didn't find out until I found her blood out of one of my best friends in the woods. But not even then.. I could hate her. It was as if.. my love for her was a drug. I was constantly drawn to her, constantly obsessed, to the point of being an extreme stalker, if I should describe myself that way" I said

"What happened after that?"

"I became determined and I ..wanted to be with her. Being an vampire gave me eternal life, massive strength, supernatural senses that no one could ever dream of. I wanted to be good to her, I wanted to protect her. So I decided to become a vampire" I mumbled

"Was she the one who turned you?" Yunho asked

I shook my head

"No, she.. wasn't" I chuckled sarcastically, hurt by the fact that she actually didn't want to turn me

"She didn't know. I decided one night to just go out in the woods, believing that she wasn't the only vampire in town and.. I was lucky and.. right" I shrugged

"Who turned you? How did you know how to turn?" Yoochun asked

"I didn't know anything. I just prayed that the first vampire I bumped into would be fair enough to turn me into one. And I guess that night was a lucky day cause I bumped into a girl. She was more than helpful to me" I shrugged

"And she helped you?" Changmin asked

"She didn't at first. She kept asking why I was so determined to become one since this was a doomed life. I would constantly live in the dark and I would constantly crave for blood. But I persuaded her. I wanted to be with Yuri and even if I have to give up my own life, so it be" I said and looked at the guys

THey were all silent as they watched me with guilt, pity and regret. I sighed

"The girl helped me, explained to me and she told me the pain would be unbearable, but I didn't care. I couldn't think of any pain that would be bigger than Yuri leaving me" I mumbled

"And what happened after that?" Yunho asked

"I drank her blood, she killed me. I woke up the day after and craved for blood. When I was fully transitioned, I had been away from Yuri for 4 days which was hell for me. When I finally thought that I would be able to see her again, I heard rumors about her being with another guy. I approached her one day and she was loving to me as usual but for some reason, I could tell that she wasn't really sincere with what she was saying" I said

"And you killed this guy?" Changmin asked

"Without even blinking" I said

"Why?" Yoochun asked

"It lies in our nature to kill. It gives us the satisfaction to our minds when we know we've killed someone and also... I was new to this life. I knew nothing about it, except my love for Yuri and ... she.. used me"

The last words that came out from my mouth suddenly made my heart ache. My chest ache. Everything was aching. Remembering the pain when I saw Yuri with that guy in the woods, hunting together, playing with each other, kissing each other.. and finally hearing her say that she loved him, it felt like being staked through the heart 100 times over and over again

"And what happened then?" Junsu asked

"I followed them into the woods one night. He wasn't human since I couldn't hear his heart beat. They ran, they were happy and.. so.. in love" I mumbled

The guys kept watching me, I guess my pain finally showed in my eyes, my face and suddenly I felt like I was reliving it allover again

"I heard her say that she has never been in love with me, she used me since she was born and then he came along, finally finding her soulmate" I said

"And you killed him that night?" Yunho asked

I nodded

"I did. I had promised myself to never make Yuri cry but that promise was forgotten as soon as I attacked that guy and ripped his heart out in front of her"

"What did she do?" Junsu asked

"She wasn't able to do anything. My hate, my anger and determination blocked everything she tried to do in order to save him" I said

"And after that?" Changmin asked

"She cried. I left her by his motionless body and ran. Ran for my life, swearing that I would never return to this place or ever mention or remember her name again"

"And now she's after you?" Yoochun asked

"I think. she's after vengeance. She wants me to feel the exact same thing as she felt then I guess" I mumbled

"And it seems like she won't stop until she has done that, right?" Yunho asked

I nodded

"I'm sorry for bringing this up, for having this burden on your shoulders as well" I said

"No Jae, we're brothers.. and brothers stay together, through everything" Yoochun said and tapped my shoulder

"Thanks"

"How come.. you've never told us about this before?" Junsu asked

"Cause the past should not.. kee me from moving forward" I said

"But that is only when you've solved it or somehow gone through it. You've been running from it" Yunho said

"I was a newly transitioned vampire. I only knew how to kill" I mumbled

"And apparently love her" Changmin said

"When we are newly transitioned into this life, our cravings and our senses becomes easy just as breathing. We have to do it cause we need it. It took me decades to become the vampire I am today and also to learn about vampires. I was alone for decades" I mumbled

"Sorry about.. that" Junsu mumbled

I shook my head

"I'm glad. I have you guys now and.. her" I mumbled and looked at Yumi

"So where do we go from here?" Yunho asked

"Protect Yumi" Yoochun said

"Easier said than done" Junsu said

"What do you mean?" Changmin asked Junsu

"First of all, she's human. She's a teenager compared to us. She lives with her aunt and uncle. We can't force her to move into our mansion" Junsu said

"And if Yuri is so angry and furious about getting back at you, I'm pretty sure she will do anything to harm Yumi as well" Yoochun said

"You got a point there" Changmin said

"What's your suggestion?" I asked

"I don't know. All she knows is revenge and definitely bringing pain to the table. Her main target is you and she's using Yumi to get to you" Yoochun said

"And.. what kind of conclusion comes out of that?" I asked, knowing the answer already but not wanting to confirm it

"For Yumi's safety.. I think you should break up with her"
