Blind Dates and Cute Guys

Fall For You

Mingyu's days progressed like normal: school, Shining Diamond, the odd arguments with Jihoon. However, he started feeling the weight of being alone more and more. His usual irritation with the couples doubled and he found himself snapping at them even to Junghan. It made him feel guilty afterwards more than anything so he started avoiding his friends for a while. It involved sneaking past the cafeteria during his break time since he knew Jisoo would be there, dashing out after his Chemistry class with Soonyoung and hiding from Jihoon and Junghan because those two could be like dogs when after someone.

To say he was tired was an understatement. He would have succeeded in doing it all week if Soonyoung and Jisoo hadn't cornered him the moment he walked in to Shining Diamond. Crap, he forgot they worked Friday together.

"You better not run away again, Kim Mingyu or I'm letting Jihoon break your door down." Soonyoung threatened. It was the first time that Mingyu saw Soonyoung become intimidating and it was scarier than he thought his friend could be.

Mingyu let out a nervous chuckle. "What? Me running away? What are you saying, hyung?"

Jisoo sighed, pushing the youngest on a chair. "Why are you avoiding us, Gyu ah? Did we do something?"

Guilt was starting to eat Mingyu up. His hyungs only called him Gyu when they were really concerned about him. How could he explain his behavior though? I realized how sad being single was so I sulked and avoided you? No way. There would be a huge pity fest and maybe some tears from Junghan when he found out.

"I'm not avoiding you guys. The course load had been too much and I'm mostly stuck in the library these days." Mingyu excused. It wasn't a complete lie at least. He did stay in the library mostly because his friends-even the consistent A+ student Jisoo- were allergic to the place. Soonyoung had even faked getting hit by a car when his last study partner asked to meet there.

Soonyoung and Jisoo made a face at the mention of the place but looked like they bought it. Or they were at least willing to believe it for now. If Jihoon was here, he would be tortured and questioned until the sad truth was out. Mingyu mentally thanked his lucky stars.

"Okay, but don't do that again, please? Junghan's really worried." Jisoo amended.

Soonyoung nodded. "Be careful of the librarian there too. I heard Kahi noona was scary."

Mingyu laughed. "Well, she's strict but she's not that bad."

"Do you need any help with your homework? You can just study at my place. I promise Junghan and I wouldn't flirt or at least keep it down." Jisoo offered, smiling.

There was that stab of guilt again but Mingyu shook his head. "I think I can handle it on my own, hyung. When I start hallucinating, I'll come by promise."

Soonyoung laughed before launching in a story about all the things that Mingyu had missed while he was hiding. Mingyu started to feel the guilt ease up as he reacted to everything his hyung had said. Jisoo even played a song that all of them knew, the three of them singing quite loudly until the owner, Jonghyun, came out of his office and told them to get ready.

The usual rush of students came in that night with the odd faculty members now and then. Mingyu tried not to feel flustered when Professor Shim watched him like a hawk as he was making his drink. It was almost like he was being graded; luckily, the Math professor, Mr.Cho, arrived before he could receive any marks.

Mingyu looked over to where Soonyoung was entertaining a group of girls, noting that they weren't familiar. They must be from the close by women's university. The girls were giggling as his hyung made their drinks with more theatrics than necessary. Mingyu rolled his eyes; he almost felt bad for them.

"That was mean, hyung." Mingyu said when the girls left, one of them slipping her number to Soonyoung.

" Yeah, I guess so." The older shrugged, throwing the piece of paper in the bin under the counter. "You know I do it to get more tips. Plus if they were really interested, they could have at least asked if I was interested or straight."

" One of these days Jihoon hyung's going to catch you and you'll be sorry "

Soonyoung sighed, fixing himself a drink. "I wouldn't do that if Jihoon was here." He took a sip of his rum. "He's insecure about us as it is."

Mingyu nodded, not really knowing what to say. Jihoon and Soonyoung's relationship had always confused him. Their relationship, that Mingyu could see, consisted of 70% fighting, 10% possessiveness,10% jealousy and 10% sweetness. He had never seen a more complicated relationship before and there were times that he worried if they were going to kill one another. Mingyu would seriously worry if a.) Junghan wasn't worried enough about the two and b.) If their 10% sweetness wasn't sickeningly cute when it happened. He wouldn't be able to forget how Soonyoung had gotten injured last year before the big dance showcase at the school. He was supposed to get a solo dance and missing it had broken his heart. Jihoon had stayed with Soonyoung the whole night and danced to all the songs on his own. When Soonyoung had gotten better, Jihoon had found a way to borrow the theater for a while and he made a showcase just for his boyfriend. Soonyoung had been so touched that he cried for almost half an hour.

What did Mingyu really know about love? He couldn't help but ask that as he listened to Jisoo sing about love yet again. His dating history was limited to only one guy and honestly, he didn't learn anything except he hated cheaters. He had been dating the guy for a year when he had noticed his ex boyfriend's strange behavior and lies that didn't really add up. In the end, it was the bastard that broke up with him because he couldn't stand to date someone so unfeeling like him. Mingyu punched him square in the jaw just to show how much he was feeling at that moment.

Maybe he could find a book in the library to answer his question.

--

It was Wednesday when Mingyu heard the unholy news. He had been spending time with his friends but he was still keeping his distance. Maybe the library was growing on him and besides, he was still looking for that book about love. Mingyu was really starting to consider living in the library just to avoid them.

"Hold on. Let me get this straight again. You set me up on a blind date?!" Mingyu exclaimed.

Junghan nodded, beaming. "Yup. His name is Chansoo and he's a year younger than you. I already set up everything so all you have to do is show up!"

Mingyu could feel a headache forming. "Why exactly did you do that?"

Jihoon snorted. "Because you're a miserable single young man and we're tired of your moping?"

Soonyoung elbowed his boyfriend with a slight glare. "What Jihoonie meant was we just thought it would be nice if you met someone, you know. Who knows maybe you'll find the one after the date?"

"Jisoo hyung, stop them!". Mingyu pleaded. Jisoo was his most reasonable hyung; he would put a stop to this.

"I actually agree to this, Mingyu. If it's bad then just don't meet the guy again. Just give it a shot, alright?" Jisoo smiled, patting his head.

Mingyu groaned, burying his face in his arms as the headache came full force. What is this life really?

Mingyu wouldn't admit it out loud and certainly not in front of his friends but he was very nervous for the blind date. It had been sometime since he last went out and never on a blind date. It wasn't that he felt insecure about his looks; he already knew he was good looking but looks can only get you so far in the game. Mingyu hated that the Chansoo guy at least knew how he looked while he didn't except for Junghan's 'he's cute; you'll love him!'

Cute guys were scary. They would be all adorable and rainbows in front of you and have a scary inner personality. He bet the guy even used his cuteness to bend people's will! Jihoon certainly used his adorable face to get his way a lot.

"What are you doing? You're Kim Mingyu, for chrissake! The chance of another Jihoon is slim so don't worry about that. The guy is going to fall for you even if you didn't smile!" Mingyu nodded at his reflection before getting ready for bed. He had a date tomorrow after all.

Mingyu looked around the small coffee shop that Junghan had said. The place was nice, cozy atmosphere with the lingering scent of coffee. At least the place was nice. Mingyu looked around for a guy with the gray blazer; that was the only clue Junghan had given him. With a quick sweep of the place, Mingyu spotted the guy by the window. Here goes nothing.

"Uhm, Chansoo ssi?" Mingyu asked as he approached the table.

The guy's eyes widened comically. "Holy cow, Junghan wasn't kidding about your looks!"

Mingyu chuckled, nodding to the vacant seat. "May I?"

"Uhm, of course. Please sit down, Mingyu ssi." Chansoo whispered.

Mingyu sat down and smiled at his date. Chansoo widened his eyes again and Mingyu couldn't help but be creeped out a bit. They were just sitting there awkwardly and Mingyu quickly tried to think of something to say. Chansoo kept on staring at him though and it was starting to freak him out.

"D-do you want something to eat, Chansoo ssi?" Mingyu asked in hopes that the staring contest would be over.

Chansoo nodded but kept on staring. "What would you like, human?"

"Human?" Mingyu's brows furrowed.

"Yes. Or should I call you something else? Are you not human?"

"I am but... why call me that?"

"I've never seen someone as handsome as you."

"But you're human too, Chansoo ssi."

Chansoo frowned, shaking his head. "I am not human, Mingyu ssi. Not human at all." He smirked evilly.

Mingyu was starting to fear for his life so with the excuse of buying food, he all but ran to the counter to order. Sadly, the order was finished quickly and he had no choice but to return to the table. He handed Chansoo the other glazed donut. Mingyu shifted his gaze around the entire cafe as he ate but he could still feel his date's eyes on him.

He would have bailed out already if Junghan hadn't made him promise to at least it up until the end of the date. If Mingyu died, it would be on his angelic hyung's conscience.

Mingyu almost shouted in relief when he saw that it was already five o'clock. The date/ stare fest had come to an end and he will still live to see another day. Mingyu was going to take a long shower once he got home since he had started to get itchy after three hours of being stared at.

"Uhm, thanks for the date?" Mingyu said more out of courtesy than anything else.

Chansoo nodded seriously. "Thank you for letting me observe you, human." And he walked away.

Mingyu had never ran back to his apartment that fast.

--

"Okay so maybe Chansoo wasn't the best guy for you but you have to admit that he was cute!" Junghan smiled as if he didn't set up Mingyu with a potential killer.

Jihoon looked at the oldest, utterly unimpressed. "I'm sure his cuteness would benefit him when he gets caught by the police."

"Staring at someone isn't a crime!" Junghan protested.

"If Mingyu gets stalked and murdered then it will be." Jihoon retorted.

Jisoo cleared his throat, ending the argument. "Let's not talk about the possibility of Mingyu getting murdered while eating."

Soonyoung nodded. "You're kind of ruining my appetite, guys." He pointed at Mingyu. "At least his own death doesn't bother him."

Mingyu gave him a look. "Of course it does but what does food have to do with it? Food never did anything bad to me like set me up with potential murderers."

Junghan rolled his eyes. "All of you are so dramatic." Taking Mingyu's hand, the older looked sorry though. "I really thought this would cheer you up, Gyu ah. I'm sorry."

Of course no one could resist the angel's sad smile. "It's okay, hyung. I didn't die right?" Mingyu chuckled.

The five of them continued their lunch, talking about their classes and whatever random things their friends did. Mingyu was just relieved that the blind date seemed to be a one time thing; he liked being alive thank you very much.

"You have a date tomorrow, by the way. It's one of my mom's friends' son. I think his name is Minjoo?" Soonyoung suddenly announced as they were leaving.

It took Mingyu a while to notice that no one was reacting. Oh no. "Do you mean me?" He asked slowly.

Jihoon nodded, pushing them towards the exit. "Who else do you think? We're all in a relationship except you."

Mingyu groaned. "Hyuuuuung!"

Soonyoung laughed. "I'm sure he isn't a creeper or something. I checked him out."

"Oh, did you now?" Jihoon glared at his boyfriend.

"I meant I ran a background check on him. He has a pretty solid dating history." Soonyoung rolled his eyes. "I'm not cheating on you, Jihoon."

"You better not be." Jihoon threatened before grabbing his boyfriend's hand tightly.

Mingyu started to feel like a third wheel again so he cleared his throat to make his presence clear. "Now that we've established that Soonyoung hyung isn't cheating, my date please? What do you mean by tomorrow? You can't just assume I don't have anything planned!"

Jisoo chuckled. "Jihoon has all of our schedules."

The man in question nodded. "After your Chem exam tomorrow, you'll meet Minjoo at the museum. Your whole afternoon is vacant."

Mingyu's jaw dropped. He was pretty sure he had never given Jihoon or anyone a copy of his schedules which meant that his hyung hacked into the system again.

"Hold on.. I have an exam tomorrow?!"

After panicking for the supposed to be surprise exam, Mingyu panicked about what to wear to the date. It was in a museum and Soonyoung said it was his mom's friend's son. He had almost forgotten that his hyung belonged to a different class from him. Soonyoung's family was one of the richest in the country and they have connections almost everywhere. Soonyoung didn't like being linked to his family so only a few people knew about his affluent background.

Soonyoung didnt like dressing up like the rich but that doesn't mean Mingyu's date was the same.

"I am so ed." Mingyu groaned.

--

The museum that his supposed date was being held had a rather extensive display of different Greek statues and the stories behind them. Mingyu was sort of fascinated with the art and had started to read bits of information while waiting for his date. Soonyoung said Minjoo would be the one to approach him. It had made Mingyu even more nervous so he asked Soonyoung and Jihoon to tag along. He looked around and found the two of them staring at whatever was mounted on the wall. He was about to approach them when someone tapped his shoulder.

"Mingyu ssi, I'm here."

Mingyu turned around to look at his date. Proper posture, unamused quirk of the eyebrow and air of superiority- okay the guy definitely belonged to Soonyoung's family's level. "Minjoo ssi?"

Minjoo nodded. "Lee Minjoo. Pleasure to meet you." He bowed stiffly.

"K-kim Mingyu, nice to meet you too." Mingyu bowed.

"You're a friend of Soonyoung, right? I must say I was surprised when he asked me for this favor." Minjoo tilted his head.

Rich guy was definitely handsome, Mingyu noted. "Yeah, I met hyung since he started dating my former roommate, Jihoon hyung."

At the mention of Jihoon's name, the guy stiffened before he placed his hand at the small of Mingyu's back. "Shall we look around the museum, Mingyu ssi?"

Mingyu noticed the reaction but brushed it off. They toured the museum with Minjoo telling Mingyu everything he knew about the pieces. Mingyu was surprised that he was actually enjoying the date. Minjoo wasn't making any moves towards him but he did enjoy the trivia he had shared.

Maybe Minjoo should just work in the museum.

"I hope this wouldn't offend you but what are you wearing?" Minjoo asked, eyeing Mingyu's attire.

Mingyu looked down at his dark jeans and cashmere sweater. "Is there something wrong with them?"

Minjoo shook his head though it was obvious he was judging Mingyu. "Do commoners go out dressed so..."

"Casually? If they aren't dating a prick, yes." Mingyu said flatly. The guy might be handsome but he was definitely a prick.

"Oh don't act all offended. Did you actually think this date would work out? I mean look at me and look at you." Minjoo said, pursing his lips.

Dumbfounded, Mingyu just gave a slight nod of his head and his date continued talking about the artwork as if he didn't insult Mingyu. Just as he was about to excuse himself, Soonyoung approached them with Jihoon in tow. His hyungs were wearing matching brown pants and sneakers with a simple tee. Jihoon's even had the sentence 'I don't give a shhh' on his; Mingyu had never been more proud.

"Soonyoung." Minjoo said.

"Minjoo." Soonyoung nodded. "How's the date going so far?" He asked with a smile.

"Mingyu is quite a fascinating person; his looks are quite something else as well." Minjoo answered. Mingyu's jaw nearly dropped.

Jihoon snickered. "Our friend isn't some piece of art. What kind of a description is that?"

Minjoo gazed disapprovingly at the shorter. "I didn't mean any harm. I was just stating my observation."

Mingyu cut in before a full argument could ensue. "What about you guys? How's the date?"

Soonyoung grinned. "It's really fun! Jihoon knows more about this stuff than I do." He exclaimed proudly.

"I see. Maybe you'd like to join Mingyu and I? I would love to hear about Jihoon ssi's knowledge." Minjoo asked coolly.

Jihoon smirked, wrapping an arm around Soonyoung's waist. "Nah, thanks. Soonyoung and I were about to leave anyway."

Mingyu's eyes widened. How could they leave him here with this prick?! It seemed that his mental breakdown took longer than he had imagined because the next thing he knew was his hyungs waving by the exit. He could hear Minjoo's annoyed sigh beside him.

"Why is Soonyoung dating that midget? He obviously has no class. Just look at what he was wearing!" Minjoo exclaimed.

Mingyu didn't point out that his hyungs were basically wearing the same thing. Soonyoung's smiley printed shirt didn't make that much of a difference. "Maybe because Jihoon hyung has actual feelings?"

"What do feelings have anything to do with dating? Dating should just be made like a merger to combine all the positive assets each person has. I'm better suited to Soonyoung." Minjoo said strongly.

Mingyu could feel his fist itching to punch something- preferably this douche. Maybe he wasn't an expert at love but that was the most bull reason he had ever heard. "If you may, I'd like to leave now and please don't ever speak to me or any of my hyungs ever again. I'm disgusted that I went out with you." Mingyu said curtly, bowing before he left.

--

Gratefully, no one asked or even mentioned about what happened to that date. Mingyu could feel his irritation bubbling again even with the mere thought of the guy. Even more gratefully, the topic of Mingyu's love life and its nonexistence was dropped for a while in lieu of panicking over midterms. The five of them barely had any time to meet since their professors decided to reward them with extra homework and projects.

Mingyu was going to die if he had to stare at another formula. He needed some time to unwind as well. That was what he kept telling himself as he ordered some beer from some club downtown. He didn't want to risk the chance of his professors finding him in Shining Diamond and guilt him to studying. The club had great music too and it made Mingyu feel more relax than he had for a week. He brought out his phone when it vibrated against his thigh; it was from Jihoon which worried him. Jihoon rarely texted anyone. Was Soonyoung hurt?

From: Jihoon hyung

I know someone single and looking for a boyfriend. You up for blind date number 3?

Mingyu groaned loudly. "Why can't they just leave me alone?"

"You okay there?" A deep voice called out.

Mingyu turned his head to saw a guy with sharp features staring amusedly at him. "Uh.. yeah, I think."

The guy chuckled. Mingyu mentally groaned at how deep the sound was. "You sure? You look like you're about to throw your phone." He looked at Mingyu and the vacant chair beside him. "May I?"

Mingyu rapidly shook his head, trying to keep cool. "Go ahead." He looked down at his phone. "My friends are just being stupid."

"Friends are generally like that, I think. At least my friends tend to be like that too." The guy said, smiling.

Mingyu chuckled, nodding. The two of them sat in companiable silence, just nursing their drinks. It felt nice and comfortable. Which was why Mingyu suddenly had an idea that was either pure genius or pure idiocy.

"Hey, would you like to become my fake boyfriend?" Mingyu asked, turning to face the guy properly. If anyone asked, Mingyu would blame the alcohol.

The guy's eyes widened but other than that, he had no reaction. Mingyu's heart was beating faster and he was mentally berating himself. Freak a hot guy out. Why not?! Just as Mingyu was about to take it back, apologize and maybe hit his head on something after running away, the guy gave another one of his low chuckles.

"Fake boyfriend, huh? Alright." The guy shrugged, smiling at Mingyu. "It could be fun."

"For real?!" Mingyu exclaimed.

The guy nodded. "Don't sound so shocked; it was your idea."

Mingyu blushed. "Yeah but I didn't really think you would agree."

"Well, I did." The guy took a gulp of his beer, pulling out some cash and paying for both his and Mingyu's drinks despite Mingyu's protest. "It's okay. We are dating now, aren't we?"

Mingyu couldnt help but blush again. "Y-yeah but... you didn't have to..?"

"You blush a lot." The guy pinched his cheek. "You got a name or should I just call you cutie?"

"M-mingyu." Mingyu stuttered. He cleared his throat. "What about you?"

"Wonwoo. It's nice to meet you, babe."
