Bonus Chapter: Back to Me

Fall For You

Doyoon liked to think that he was quite a straightforward person and that his honesty was one of his better qualities especially around people he considered as friends. It was why he didn't hesitate in telling Mingyu about Wonwoo. He didn't mention Wonwoo's name exactly because a.) Pledis was a big campus and what are the odds of Mingyu knowing Wonwoo? And b.) He didn't feel quite worthy of talking about Wonwoo just yet.

Doyoon generally avoided crying since it made him look weak and for years, he told himself that he had to be stronger one, the one to protect Wonwoo from everything and anything. But talking about Wonwoo, remembering how happy they were together and from how he just abruptly ended it, his tears just fell without his permission.

When Mingyu asked if Wonwoo had said no when he proposed, there was a choking feeling at his throat, unbidden images flashing through his mind. Above everything, it was the question that he had avoided thinking about the most. What if he had proposed to Wonwoo? Even though he had tried not to think about it at all, the ideas he had were still lingering in his mind. He would probably irritate Wonwoo until the younger got fed up and ask himself why he was staying with Doyoon then the older would just casually point out that they should get married since no one would put up with him but Wonwoo. The younger would get confused at first, brush it off as a joke and then Doyoon would pull out the ring and say he was serious. Wonwoo would cry before calling Doyoon an idiot and say yes.

It wasn't the only idea that Doyoon had came up with but all of them had the same bottom line: Wonwoo would say yes and they would get married soon, probably when the younger had graduated. Even his mom was sure that he and Wonwoo would end up together and had already started calling the younger her son.

It was this exact predictability that scared Doyoon. He loved Wonwoo with all of his heart and soul but he wasn't sure if he was ready to get married just yet. There was also the fact that Doyoon was quite an adventurer and being committed to Wonwoo for seven years was already a bit tricky for him. Sure, he was happy with Wonwoo at that time but what if he wanted something or someone else in the future? He didn't want to hurt Wonwoo in the future by cheating on him.

So he ran away.

And it turned out to be the biggest mistake in his entire life.

"Hyung, I'll get back to my unit now." Mingyu said slowly, as if he wasn't sure if Doyoon was listening.

"Oh? Uh, yeah, okay." Doyoon replied as he smiled sheepishly. "I'm sorry I keep blanking out."

"Nah, it's okay. You're thinking about a lot of things so I totally understand." Mingyu punched him on the arm as he got up from the floor. "I'll lock up so you just sit there and think, okay?"

Doyoon nodded, waving at Mingyu as the younger left. Honestly, he was glad that he had met Jisoo and his friends. Sure, Jihoon hated his guts but Mingyu more than made up for it. He was glad the younger wasn't upset by his flirting and went along with it. When Jisoo mentioned that Mingyu had a boyfriend, Doyoon felt a bit hesitant flirting with Mingyu but the younger didn't seem to mind so he just continued. It wasn't like he was trying to get Mingyu anyway. He went back to Pledis for Wonwoo and Wonwoo alone.

--

When Doyoon saw Mingyu buying snacks with Seungcheol, it was like a huge slap of reality. Choi Seungcheol, the closest friend he ever had his entire life, the person he treated like a brother and the person who probably wanted him dead now. Seungcheol had mostly looked the same, hair changed to blonde from the black he was sporting before and it looked like he continued developing his body if the defined arm muscles were any indication. His first instinct was to go over, tackle Cheol and steal his food but he remembered the last time they had talked and he stopped himself.

"If you go through with this, you're not just leaving Won. I'm going to consider you dead; you would lose your brother." It was the last thing Seungcheol said to him on the night before he left.

He had no doubt that Seungcheol would make good on that promise so he ran away, not really ready for a confrontation with his ex best friend? Ex brother? Whatever Seungcheol was, he wasn't ready to face him yet.

Doyoon wondered if Seungcheol was still in love with Wonwoo. Cheol had tried to be subtle about it but Doyoon knew the other like the back of his hand so he could see the signs. At first, he wanted to get mad because what kind of a brother would like your boyfriend? But when Seungcheol made no move to steal Wonwoo away from him, the anger disappeared. Seungcheol remained to be his brother through and through.

From: Mingyugyu

Hey hyung..

You okay? You kinda bolted from me earlier

Don't tell me you didn't see me

Cause you clearly did...

Did it have something to do with Seungcheol hyung? O.o

Doyoon stared at the message, wondering if he should reply. What would he even say to Mingyu? 'Yeah, I knew Seungcheol from before and we were best friends, brothers really, but now he'd probably kill me?' He was sure that it wouldn't make sense so he just ignored the text but it lingered at the back of his mind.

If Mingyu knew Seungcheol and was close enough to actually call him hyung-Jihoon didn't even call him hyung- then there was an off chance that he knew Wonwoo as well. It was a distinct possibility and he couldn't help but smile at that thought, wishing and hoping to see his one love again.

--

When Mingyu invited him out on breakfast with the rest of the guys-meaning with the ever glaring Jihoon-, he was a bit hesitant about going. Contrary to what Jihoon might believe, he actually wanted to avoid conflict especially since Jisoo would be placed on a tight spot every time Jihoon and him were together. Even when Mingyu had promised that Soonyoung would be there to make sure his boyfriend would behave, he still felt hesitant.

"Gyu, over here!" Jisoo called out, making Doyoon smile.

Doyoon quickly made a beeline to sit beside Jisoo, trying not to look at Jihoon in case the younger would get mad at him for whatever reason again. The table was quiet, awkwardly so that Doyoon started getting suspicious. Something was up for sure; was Jihoon going to kill him here?

Luckily, the atmosphere eased up when Minki showed up. Doyoon was starting to think that Junghan's family consisted of androgynous people only. Anyway, Junghan and Jihoon started talking about one of their classes while Doyoon goofed around with Soonyoung. He was glad that Soonyoung was still willing to be friends with him even if Jihoon obviously didn't approve.

Doyoon observed Mingyu from the corner of his eyes and saw how the younger's eyes drifted around the place, probably looking for his boyfriend and he couldn't help but smile. It was obvious how much Mingyu liked his boyfriend and Doyoon was determined to clear the air between him and whoever the guy would be. He wanted his dongsaeng to have a happy relationship after all.

Doyoon had to excuse himself when Minki arrived with the food, passing off his laughter as a snort when Mingyu's face fell having clearly expected his boyfriend. Doyoon ended up just laughing in the bathroom, earning weird looks from the girl next in line when he went out. He flashed her a smile, mentally rolling his eyes when she blushed. It was all too easy.

As he was headed back to the table, he could see Mingyu whining as a guy-presumably his boyfriend- was pulling away. Doyoon felt his heart race, almost confident about who that guy was; he was so intimately familiar with that back that he could probably tell who it was even half asleep.

"Fine, choose your job over me." Mingyu said as he suddenly let go.

Doyoon shot forward, catching Wonwoo just in time. His heart started hammering as he looked at the man in his arms. There was a sense of déjà vu as well. How many times had he caught Wonwoo before? He found himself smiling down at Wonwoo as he gently pushed the younger upright.

"Still so clumsy. You're lucky I caught you." He said gently, eyes raking in Wonwoo. He finally found him.

Wonwoo's eyes widened and Doyoon could see the different emotions in the younger's eyes. "D-doyoon?"

Hearing Wonwoo call out his name... it was an indescribable joy. That voice he had missed so dearly-it was more than music to his ears. "Hi there, sweetheart. I'm back." The words rolled off easily from his tongue.

"What the actual ?" Soonyoung exclaimed. Doyoon could actually see Jihoon's jaw dropping and he would have laughed at how funny it looked if he wasn't busy staring at Wonwoo.

Mingyu stood up and tried to pull Wonwoo away but Doyoon held on. "You're not allowed to flirt with Wonwoo, hyung."

Doyoon watched as Wonwoo's eyes went back between him and Mingyu, a look of conflict passing on his face. There was also a look of disbelief in Wonwoo's eyes and Doyoon felt a stab of guilt since he was responsible for that. Looking at Mingyu was even worse. Mingyu's eyes were hard as they stared him down and his stance was more than protective of Wonwoo.

"Oh ." He muttered when he realized what was happening.

Wonwoo was Mingyu's boyfriend. Holy .

Doyoon didn't have much time to process the info since he felt someone punching him, making him fall to the floor. He raised his head and saw it was Seungcheol. his life. He couldn't catch a break, can he?

"You have a lot of nerve showing your face back here." Seungcheol hissed.

"You've gotten weirder at greeting friends, Cheol." Doyoon remarked, chuckling.

"We. Are. Not. Friends." Seungcheol all but snarled at him.

The words definitely hurt but he wasn't going to let that show. "Oh, why not? I thought we were best friends?" He even tacked on a smirk, knowing that it would further anger Seungcheol.

As he expected, Seungcheol lunged at him. Even though Doyoon didn't want to, he had no choice but to fight back since he would probably bleed to death if he didn't do anything. Fighting like this reminded him of how he and Seungcheol used to go around and pick fights just for the heck of it. how they were fighting each other right now.

Doyoon didn't like fighting with Seungcheol for a whole lot of reasons starting with how the guy was his best friend and ending along with the lines that Seungcheol had ridiculous strength and he was sure he had a lot of bruises by now. They had tried fighting before just for kicks, just to find out who was stronger only for it to end up with..

"Enough already!" Wonwoo shouting at them.

Both Doyoon and Seungcheol snapped to attention, waiting for what Wonwoo would say next. Usually there would be a lecture about not hurting each other but now, there was just utter confusion. He felt Soonyoung pulling him away from Seungcheol and he wondered just how bad he looked.

"Er, I'm sorry you had to see me bruised up and bleeding like this, sweetheart. I'll clean up so we can talk properly, okay?" Doyoon said as he tilted his head.

Wonwoo slowly pulled out his handkerchief and Doyoon had to smile. If Wonwoo cared enough to worry about him then maybe he still had a chance. It was risky but he was willing to try.

The joy he felt was short lived though. When Jihoon screamed out that Wonwoo wasn't breathing, Doyoon felt his old instincts kick back into life. He looked at Wonwoo and the tremors confirmed that the younger was having a panic attack.

"Choi Seungcheol, let me go!" Doyoon shouted out. "Wonwoo's having a panic attack." With that, he pushed the other off and went to Wonwoo. "Breathe, beautiful." He grabbed Wonwoo's hand, massaging it. "I'm here. I got you." He said softly, knowing how sensitive the other was at times like this.

"Don't touch him." Mingyu hissed at him.

Doyoon turned to Mingyu, eyes hardening. He didn't have the time for this. Wonwoo needed him. "I know what to do, Mingyu. You don't. Let me handle this."

"I said don't touch him, hyung."

"I don't have time to fight you as well, Mingyu." Doyoon snapped before turning back to Wonwoo. He needed to get Wonwoo out of here to somewhere he felt safe and secured. There was a voice at the back of his head saying that it wasn't with him anymore but he closed it off quickly.

Their squabble was interrupted by the arrival of a strangely familiar face. Doyoon was sure he had seen the guy before and hoped it wasn't one of his one nightstands because he really didn't want Wonwoo seeing him with one of them. When Seungcheol spoke to the guy, Jun apparently, a small bell rang in Doyoon's head and he could remember being introduced to the guy when Wonwoo was a freshman.

There was sense of indignation when Jun just took Wonwoo away and Mingyu wouldn't let him follow them. Doyoon had always, always been the one to take care of the younger during his panic attacks and being away from Wonwoo right now was making him anxious. He wanted to make sure that Wonwoo was okay and that he wasn't getting stressed. And he couldn't do that at the backseat of Soonyoung's car.

"You know you really don't have to do this. I can take care of myself." Doyoon said as he caught Soonyoung's eyes on the mirror.

Jihoon sighed. "We told Jisoo hyung we'd take care of you so we will."

"Actually that was all on you, babe." Soonyoung replied, chuckling when Jihoon hit his arm. "I'm kidding, babe. As if I'd leave you."

Doyoon scoffed, jealousy pooling at his stomach. "You guys are the worst."

"Nope, we're adorable." Soonyoung said along with a wiggle of his eyebrows.

Jihoon scoffed at his boyfriend but Doyoon could see the smile pulling on the other's lips and finally saw the cuteness that Jisoo and Junghan gushed about. Soonyoung pulled up at his and Mingyu's apartment complex, opening the door for Jihoon and Doyoon. The three of them were quiet as they made their way to Doyoon's unit. Doyoon expected for them to leave him there but Jihoon only raised his eyebrows, nodding inside.

" I don't get why the two of you are doing this." Doyoon groaned as he step inside, closing the door after Jihoon and Soonyoung stepped in.

"Huh it's basically the same as Mingyu's." Soonyoung commented as he plopped down on the couch.

"Same complex so yeah." Doyoon nudged the younger's feet off the table. "Glad to see you're so comfy already "

Soonyoung grinned. "Part of my charm really."

Doyoon laughed it off before he glanced at Jihoon who was still standing by the door. "You can come in, Jihoon. My place won't attack you."

"Yeah, come here, babe." Soonyoung said as he patted his lap.

Doyoon scrunched up his nose when Jihoon actually walked up to them and sat down on Soonyoung's lap. "You two are worse than Jisoo and Junghan."

"I highly doubt that." Jihoon remarked. "Anyway, where's your first aid kit? I'd like to actually make good on what I told Jisoo hyung."

Doyoon rolled his eyes but was mentally applauding Jisoo's ability to gain respect from someone like Jihoon. He stood up to fetch the first aid kit from the bathroom and returned to find Jihoon and Soonyoung talking in hushed tones. There was that feeling of jealousy again. There was a saying that people scream when they argue because their hearts were far apart and they had to be loud to be heard. Happy couples usually spoke in whispers since they had their own personal bubble and sometimes words weren't even needed.

He and Wonwoo used to always talk in whispers that was for sure. Doyoon likes whispering to the younger since Wonwoo had sensitive ears and the slightest contact was enough to make him shiver. It didn't hurt that Wonwoo's deep voice was absolutely like velvet through his ears.

"I got the first aid kit." He announced loudly to snap both him and the couple out of it. He didn't want to think about the memories with Wonwoo just yet.

Jihoon jumped, glaring at Doyoon before he grabbed the kit. "Sit."

"You're a bossy little thing." Doyoon commented as he sat down. He winced when Jihoon just wiped away the blood with some cotton balls all of a sudden. "Could have warned me!"

Jihoon rolled his eyes. "You're a big sissy." His touches were more gentle after that. It was quiet as Jihoon continued, the only sound was Soonyoung's humming as he watched his boyfriend. "So..." jihoon started. "You're the great ex huh?"

Doyoon raised an eyebrow. "Wow you're actually talking to me first." He whined when Soonyoung kicked his shin. This couple was dangerous. "Ow! But uh, yeah. You guys are close with Won?"

"Well, we are all of the same age." Soonyoung replied. "I thought Wonwoo dated someone for uh..."

"Five years." Jihoon supplied.

"Yeah, five years. Thanks, Jihoon. But Mingyu said you dated someone for seven years?" Soonyoung asked. "What, you don't know how to count?"

Doyoon chuckled. "I liked him for two years before we got together. I even joined the soccer team even when I turned down the coach's offer for so many times." He shook his head at the memory. "But if you want to be technical about it, yeah, we dated for a grand total of five years."

"But he's dating Mingyu now." Jihoon said seriously as he closed the first aid kit. "You're all good. Just try not to get punched within the next few days please."

"Aww, is Jihoonie worried about me?" Doyoon cooed.

Soonyoung growled. "Stop if you know what's good for you."

Jihoon hit Doyoon on the head which definitely hurt. He rolled his eyes as the offended look directed at him. "Keep your in your pants. You're not getting anywhere with me or Wonwoo for that matter."

Doyoon straightened up, fixing a steady stare at Jihoon. "And how are you sure? Wonwoo still has feelings for me. I know it."

"Come on, hyung. Wonwoo is dating Mingyu already so just let them be." Soonyoung said.

Doyoon sighed deeply. He turned to Soonyoung who was raising his eyebrows at him. "I have a question for you. If Jihoon was with someone else, would you just sit back and do nothing?"

Jihoon groaned. "As if I..."

"Well, I wouldn't be dumb to let Jihoon go in the first place." Soonyoung cut in, eyes burning. "I already have Jihoon and they would have to kill me to get him from me."

Doyoon felt speechless at how sincere Soonyoung sounded. He took some time to react and he just basically slumped down in his seat. "Then don't ever let him go. Don't make the same mistake I did."

"I won't." Soonyoung answered before getting up quickly. "I think Jihoon and I should head to class."

Jihoon was looking at Doyoon strangely. The next words he said were even stranger. "You go ahead downstairs. I want to talk to Doyoon about something."

Soonyoung snorted as if what Jihoon said was a huge joke which Doyoon agreed to. He and Jihoon didn't have anything to talk about but Jihoon just looked at Soonyoung. There was a silent conversation between the two of them and Doyoon had to look away. He was busy staring at the wall that he jumped when the door slammed all of a sudden and he looked around and saw that Soonyoung wasn't there anymore.

"Well, you sure made him upset." Doyoon commented after a few beats of silence.

Jihoon sighed. "He'll get over it."

"Right."

There was a tense silence after that. Doyoon was waiting for whatever it was Jihoon had to say but it didn't look like the younger was going to say anything for a while. He cleared his throat and just cut the silence himself.

"So, you wanted to talk to me?" He asked carefully, not really knowing what to expect.

Jihoon nodded slowly. "I do."

"Okay? Uh, what is it?"

"Why did you come back?"

That was unexpected. "What?"

Jihoon glared at him. "Why did you have to come back? Wonwoo's already happy with Mingyu but you had to show your face back here and make things complicated. Why?"

"Because I couldn't stand being away from Wonwoo anymore." Doyoon admitted. He knew that if he gave a bull reason, Jihoon would just call him out on it so he decided to be honest. "The two years away from Wonwoo was unbearable so I'm here to get him back."

"And if he doesn't want you back?"

"That's not possible." He found himself saying. Of course it was possible but he didn't want to think about that. He would try his hardest before accepting that.

Jihoon snorted. "You're unbelievable. He's dating another guy that isn't you so yes, it is possible."

Doyoon sighed. "You're so naive." He rolled his eyes when Jihoon glared at him. "There's a saying that goes your first love never dies and that's what I am to Wonwoo." He cocked his head to the side, half not wanting to say what the next statement. "If in the future you and Soonyoung broke up and you found someone to date but Soonyoung comes back, wouldn't you give him at least a chance?"

For a second, Doyoon regretted saying what he did because Jihoon's face crumpled with pain but the younger quickly masked it with a glare. He was sure that Jihoon was going to punch him but as it was, the other just said a quiet ' you' before heading out of his apartment.

--

Doyoon didn't expect that Mingyu would talk to him. That was a given of course. Doyoon made a mental promise to work things out with Mingyu after he got Wonwoo back. There had to be some way to save their friendship.

It was likely not to happen sometime soon though.

"Let Wonwoo go. Let him come back to me." Doyoon had said, no, begged Mingyu. He didn't like begging but if there was a chance to save both his relationship with Wonwoo and Mingyu, begging might be the way to go.

Mingyu blinked owlishly at him. "What?"

"Gyu, I'm begging you here. I want us to be friends even through all this so I'm asking you nicely." Doyoon insisted.

"You have got to be ing kidding me. Why would I leave him just because you said so?" Mingyu asked with an offended expression.

Doyoon sighed deeply. He didn't want it to come to this but Mingyu looked determined. "Because I will get him back, Gyu. I know him better than you do and I know how to win his heart. I just don't want you to get hurt."

Doyoon watched as Mingyu digested what he had said and he hoped that Mingyu would just set Wonwoo free. It would make things much easier. He would fix things with Wonwoo and be friends with Mingyu. It was a win win situation.

"I told Seungcheol hyung this but I'm telling you as well." Mingyu finally spoke up after a few minutes. There was a fierce intensity at the younger's eyes that wasn't there before. "I'm not going anywhere. As long as Wonwoo wants me with him, I'm not leaving. I don't care who you are to him but you're not my boyfriend so you don't get a say in my coming and going."

Doyoon was taken aback for a moment but then he smirked, the usual rush of getting challenges coursing through him. "Inspirational stuff right there, Mingyu." He offered his hand for a handshake. "Then may the best man win."
