Mingyu couldn't help but sigh as he and his friends hang out at their usual bubble tea shop again. It couldn't really be called hanging out though. Junghan and Jisoo were in their own world, whispering softly to one another with the occasional giggle. Jihoon and Soonyoung were arguing about some movie they saw yesterday. Mingyu really loved his friends; his world would be really dull without them but he wished they would stop rubbing the fact that he's single in his face. 

"Mingyu, we're doing it again, aren't we?" Jisoo asked though he looked guilty at least.

The younger shook his head. "Don't mind me. I'm fine, really." 

Jihoon flicked Soonyoung's ear one more time before facing Mingyu. "You could have said something to us."

"I'm not... new to it?" Mingyu sighed. "It's not your fault." 

Junghan pouted. "I'm buying you your favorite milk tea then we'll all hang out like friends okay?"

Junghan got up, giggling when Jisoo tried to pull him back. Mingyu couldn't help but smile fondly. He did feel like a fifth wheel most of the time but the cuteness from the couples made up for it. At least one of them was anyway. He looked over to Soonyoung and Jihoon were still arguing but soon enough, they started apologizing to each other and Soonyoung kissed Jihoon's cheek which made the younger blush.

Mingyu was going to throw up.

And maybe sob about his non existent love life.

Working in a bar wasn't really what Mingyu wanted to do. The customers kept getting drunk and throwing up on the floor. He had heard about the bitterness of life more than he had ever dreamt of but the bar certainly had its appeal.

Shining Diamond was the closest bar to the university which meant that Fridays and Saturdays were mostly students' night. A lot of Mingyu's classmates would drop by to say hi and chat for a bit before heading to the dance floor. It made the time pass by faster and made the night much more amusing. 

"Someone looks happy." Soonyoung commented as he started cleaning the glasses.

Mingyu shrugged. "It's Friday."

Soonyoung laughed. "Get ready to hear complaints about the professors and the course load."

Mingyu grinned, not really minding that. He could at least relate to that. Plus Fridays meant he and Soonyoung were manning the bar while Jisoo would perform a few songs later on. It was a good night. 

Soon enough, they opened and the students started coming in in groups. Mingyu started mixing the usual drinks, almost memorizing the faces coming by. 8 pm was still early and those inside were using this time to finish up their homeworks, drinking beers to not get intoxicated just yet. Jisoo went up on stage, singing his first song for the night, garnering loud applause from the patrons that they already had. After three songs, he went down, thanking the crowd as he went. He would sing again later when there was a dull in the atmosphere.

" Great set, hyung." Mingyu said, handing Jisoo his usual iced tea. Junghan didn't want Jisoo to get drunk on the job, worried that someone might take advantage. 

Jisoo grinned, drinking some of the beverage. "Thanks, Mingyu. Where's Soonyoung?" 

The younger pointed at the door that said 'Employees Only'. "Jihoon hyung called. You know, to make sure no one was grabbing Soonyoung hyung at the wrong place." He added with an eye roll.

Jisoo laughed. "You don't have to sound so bitter about it."

"I'm not bitter about it. They're just so confusing. They'd be fighting when they're together but they're weirdly possessive about each other."

"You know that Jihoon's scared." 

Mingyu sighed, toying with the rag in his hand. "Soonyoung hyung wouldn't leave him. He should trust himself."

"You can never be that sure when you're in love." Jisoo patted Mingyu's back. "Anyway, did you hear the rumor about Professor Min?"

As the night grew deeper, Shining Diamond got filled. Mingyu didn't recognize the song playing but Soonyoung was dancing to it on top of the counter. Hopefully he wouldn't slip because all hell would break loose if Jihoon found out his boyfriend got hurt with Mingyu standing close. He didn't have much time to focus on that though since the orders were starting to pile up and become more complicated. Mingyu prided himself on making sure that everything ran smoothly so he just focused solely on getting all the mixes right. It was almost midnight and after the usual midnight rush, the bar was quite peaceful again. Soonyoung patted Mingyu's back on the job well done before heading back to restock their supplies. Some gentle applause caused Mingyu's head to snap up.

"You're quite a bartender, aren't you?" The guy asked with a deep voice.

Mingyu suddenly felt self conscious. "Uh, I guess?"

"You're cute." The guy chuckled.

"Wha-"

"Mingyu, order!" Soonyoung tapped his shoulder.

Mingyu nodded, asking the customer what he wanted before quickly making it. He turned to where the guy was sitting earlier but he was gone. Mingyu's brows furrowed. Did he just imagine the guy? 

Soon enough, it was closing time. Jihoon and Junghan had arrived to pick up their boyfriends and normally Mingyu would tease them or at least Jihoon about it but he was too tired. The crowd tonight was quite something else, always asking for complicated drinks and ordering at the same time. He just wanted his bed. 

"You okay? You look beat." Jihoon commented.

Mingyu nodded. "I am tired. I just want to sleep." 

"Jisoo and I can drive you home." Junghan offered.

Mingyu was about to protest but Soonyoung threw a rag at his face. "Jihoon and I will lock up. You three go ahead."

"We're what?!" Jihoon scowled. Soonyoung just kissed his boyfriend's lips before handing him a rag too.

"Let's go then." Jisoo picked up his guitar case, grabbing Junghan's hand and led the way outside.

The ride to Mingyu's apartment was quiet except for a few whispers now and then. Mingyu kept on yawning but he couldn't help but observe his hyungs. There weren't a lot of things he missed about having a boyfriend but this was one of them. And as Minggyu got dropped off at his place, he couldn't shake off the feeling of longing churning in him. 

A.N: such a short chapter omgg. This is just an intro chapter so I hope that's okay. 

I have this bad habit of not finishing chaptered stories but!! I have like a month left before school starts so lets hope I can finish this! <3
