Chapter 92

Let's talk about love

"Jaegi, wake up."

I yawned as I opened my right eye slowly. I almost fell off my bed when I saw Jessica smiling at me. "Sica?" I sat up and rubbed my eyes before looking at the clock in front of me. "What's wrong? Did something happened?"

"Anni. Why do you look startled?" Jessica asked as she tilted her head.

"Because I'm shocked that you're actually awake when it's only 8am. I thought something bad had happened." I replied as I scratched the back of my head.

"Yah, Park Hyun Jae! I can wake up early too, okay." Jessica slapped my arms as she pouted, causing me to giggle. "I thought of asking you out for breakfast and maybe take a walk along Han river after that."

"Wow, since when did you become so romantic?" I grinned before frowning. "Who are you? Did someone kidnap my Sicababy when I was sleeping?" I and pretended to move my body away from her.

"Yah!! I'm doing all this because I miss you so much and want to spend more time with you especially since it's already the summer break.. But here you are, teasing me. Forget it. I should have just continued sleeping instead of taking the effort to do all these." Jessica folded her arms before she turned around to walk away.

I quickly jumped out from my bed and gave her a backhug before she could reached my door. "Mianhae, Sicababy. I miss you too and obviously I miss teasing you. Don't be angry, please."

Jessica tilted her head sideways so that she can see my face and meronged at me. "I'll forgive you if you can get ready in 30mins time. I'll wait for you at the living room. One minute late and I'll go back to my bed to sleep."

I quickly nodded my head and without a second to waste, I grabbed my towel and dashed for the washroom.

45mins later, both of us were already in my car as we headed down to a cafe for our breakfast. We chatted about random stuff and also talked about Boa who had a meet-up with her 'Prince Charming.' Jessica was curious about how I managed the things in Boa's office when I've had no experience at all. I told her that I didn't actually do much since most of the job was done by her secretary and I was just there to ensure that everything was in order.

"So basically you were there to just sit and daydream?" Jessica asked as I grinned.

"Her secretary was really helpful. She was always asking if I needed anything or any help with the things in the office. Maybe I should ask Boa to transfer her to my office once I take over." I said as I nodded my head at my own suggestion.

"Was she pretty?" Jessica asked as she arched her eyebrow at me.

Feeling mischievous, I decided to as I replied with a poker face. "She was not only pretty but cute too. I noticed that she kept glancing at me when I was busy reading the emails."

Jessica rolled her eyes at me and replied. "Whatever, it doesn't matter to me. I was just asking for formalities sake."

"Really?" I asked with a cheeky smirk before bursting out into laughter. "It's funny seeing you trying to surpress your jealousy. Kyeopta. Anyway, her secretary is a middle-aged lady who was very kind and experienced in her work. But honestly, I really think it's going to be good if I have someone like her as a secretary. With her vast knowledge, I'll be thankful for her assistance."

"I knew you were teasing me when you replied with that poker face of yours. If you really think it'll benefit you, you should discuss it with Boa-unnie. Maybe she can help you out. Anyway, since we're done with breakfast, shall we go and have a walk along Han river?" Jessica suggested as I nodded my head and asked for the bill.

As the cafe was situated somewhere near the Han river, we decided to just strolled there and enjoyed the warmth of the morning sun. The weather was bright but not hot since it was only 10am. Before we started off our walk, I went to my car to take out a foldable mat and carried it along. No one said anything as we just walked hand in hand to enjoy the view of the Han river. The occasional screams from the children that were playing around and the sound of ringing bells from incoming bicycles became part of the background sound of our walk.

After about 20mins of walking, we decided to take a rest under a big tree that provided some shade for us. I took out the mat and spread it out for us to sit on. Facing the Han river, we sat beside each other as Jessica placed her head on my shoulders.

"When you heard about my requests of not contacting each other at all for 3 months, what exactly was your initial thoughts?" Jessica suddenly asked.

"Are you breaking up with me?" I replied as Jessica sat up straight to face me. "Seriously, that was the first thought I had when you made that request to me. But then, I started to think if it has got something to do with the meet-up with Uee which actually lead me to blaming myself."

"Why would you blame yourself?" Jessica asked as I decided to lay down and place my head on her lap.

"I thought that if I didn't decide on the meet-up, then you won't have made that request. Frankly, even though I agreed with your decision when you told me about it at the airport, I was going crazy inside. I didn't even sleep throughout the flight, thinking about it. Even though you acted as if nothing happened during that one week period before I flew off, my gut feelings told me that something was not right."

"I'm sorry, Jaegi for making you go through all that emotional pain." Jessica said as I noticed her watery eyes.

I quickly reached out my hand and her cheek softly. "It's okay, Sicababy. I knew you meant well. You were going through the same hardship too but we made it through. I believe the time apart made us stronger. Don't you agree?"

Jessica nodded her head as I sat up straight and brought her closer to me. Hugging her by the side, I kissed the top of her head.

"I love you, Sica. Gomawo for always trying your best to make our relationship better." I smiled at her.

"I love you too, Jae. Never think that I'm going to leave you because I won't." She pecked me on the cheek and returned my hug.

********************************

We didn't do much during the summer break except to spend more time with our family and friends. Three weeks before summer break ended, most of us were already back at the dorm to start our school preparation for fall semester.

"Hi, Jaegi."

I was alone in the living room with my school assignments spread all over the table as Taeyeon and Hyoyeon had went out with their girlfriends to catch a movie. Yuri was in her room taking a nap after returning from the gym earlier while Sooyoung had went off to the cafetaria with Sunny to get some food. I smiled at Jessica who walked in with a plastic bag in her hand. I was about to say something when Sooyoung and Sunny walked in behind her with similar looking plastic bags.

"Did you follow SooSun to the cafetaria, Sicababy?" I asked as I recognised the bags.

Jessica nodded her head as she placed the packed food on the dining table. "I bought food for you. You messaged me in the morning, saying that you'll be doing your assignments so I got a feeling that you've not eaten yet. It's already 1pm. Let's eat first."

Seeing how eager she was in setting up everything for me, I put aside my papers and joined her at the dining table where Sooyoung and Sunny were already seated.

"Do you still have a lot of assignments to do, Jae?" Sunny asked once I was seated.

"I've still got a few more but I should be able to finish it all before the fall semester starts." I replied. Those assignments were from my interior design degree classes that I had missed while I was away in Japan for the enrichment programme.

"You look like a panda now with those black circles around your eyes. You've not been sleeping well, is it? Or you've been spending the nights on the phone with Sica?" Sooyoung grinned dorkily as she pointed teasingly at me and Sica.

"Anni. The past few days, I've only managed to message her only once in the morning everyday. I've been sleeping late because of the assignments ." I replied as I continued eating.

"Stop staying up late, Jaegi. It's not good for your body if you overworked them. I know you've got a lot of assignments to catch up on but that doesn't mean you shouldn't take care of your health. Promise me that you'll sleep early from now on, okay." Jessica said as I nodded my head.

"Wahhhhh... I can't believe I'm witnessing all these. Sica is not even angry that Jae could only message her once per day." Sunny said as she nudged Sooyoung by the elbow. "I was also shocked when she told me that she wanted to tag along with me and Soo to the cafetaria."

"It feels good, right?" Sooyoung asked as me and Jessica looked confused. "Being able to spend time with others but keeping your partner in check without having the need to cling on to them. Jae could also concentrate on her assignments and maybe she can even finish them faster."

We finally understood what Sooyoung meant earlier as Jessica and I nodded our heads before smiling at each other.

Throughout the summer break, I could see some changes in Jessica and even in myself after I came back from Japan. After 3 months without contacting and seeing each other, I felt as if both of us had just known each other and were back to our courtship days. Jessica used to dislike going out with the girls if I'm not tagging along but nowadays she would join them too. Usually if it's out of the campus, she would inform me beforehand about it. I couldn't contact Jessica much since I had to rush through my assignments but I was glad that Jessica was very accomodating  nowadays. Previously, it's not that she was not being understanding. She knew I'll be busy at times with my school work and she doesn't expect me to bring her out or physically spend time with her but she expects me to constantly message or call her at night. If I didn't manage to do so, she'll be very moody for the next few days and I would have to find ways to pacify her. But now, I can clearly see the changes. Since Jessica would leave me alone to settle my assignments, I could actually finish them a week earlier than I had expected just like what Sooyoung predicted. So we actually had the whole of last week of summer break to spend time with each other.

The most shocking thing for me was when Jessica told me that she wanted to learn how to drive and take her driving license.

"Why do you want to have a driving license? I can drive you anywhere you want." I said after we finished watching a movie at the mall.

"I know you can drive me around but won't it be better if I can drive too? If you're sick, I can drive you to the doctor immediately." Jessica grinned at me and tried to act cute.

"We can always ask others to help us and drive me to the doctor." I tried to counter her suggestion.

"I don't like to trouble others, Jaegi. Furthermore, once we start working, it'll be much easier for me to move around especially when you're busy." I was about to say something when Jessica clinged her hands on my arms and pouted. "Please, Jaegi. Please, please, please."

"Fine." I said as Jessica started jumping around. Luckily, we were already at the carpark so no one was around. "But once you passed your driving test, I'll get to choose what car you'll be using."

"You don't have to do that." Jessica replied as she opened the passenger door to my car as I arched my brow at Jessica. "Because I'm in love with this car so you'll just have to give it to me." Jessica grinned cheekily as she drummed her fingers on the hood of my white Ferrari Spider before giggling and entering the car.

"Yah, if I give you my car then....." I started to grin to myself as I completed my sentence. "I've to buy a new car. Okay, call!!"

I ran happily to the driver's side as both of us ended up laughing and teasing each other while I drove back to the dorm.

********************************

"What do you mean you're getting engaged?" I blinked my eyes as Jessica had a blank look on her.

"Don't ask stupid questions, Jagiya. You mean you don't know the meaning of engagement?" Boa's voice echoed throughout my room as I had placed my phone on the speaker mode so that Jessica could also listen in to the conversation between me and Boa.

"Boa-unnie, congratulations. I'm happy for you and your 'Prince Charming'." Jessica leaned in towards my phone when she talked to Boa.

"See. Even Sica is kind enough to give me well-wishes while you're just being plain stupid." Boa said and I knew she was referring to me.

"Yah!! I know what engagement means and I'm not stupid, okay. What I mean is you've just met him for a few months back and now you're saying that you're getting engage this December?" I said.

"To be exact, it's going to be on Christmas eve." Boa giggled. "It should already be your winter break by then so no excuses about not attending. I expect you, Sica and all the other girls to be there too."

"Are you really sure that he's the one for you?" I asked again as Jessica frowned at me.

"Aigoo, Park Hyun Jae. Since when did you become so naggy? Sica, can you please ask your girlfriend to stop asking all the nonsense questions?" I could hear Boa sighing on the other line.

"I think Jae's just being concern for you, Boa-unnie. Even though she always act nonchalant around you, Jae actually cares a lot about you." Jessica answered even before I could say anything.

"Jinjja? Omo omo omo... I didn't know that my Jagiya really cares a lot for me. Should I reject him then and just spend the rest of my life, accompanying you, Jagiya?" I could sense the teasing tone from Boa's sentence as I snorted.

"Gwenchana. I have Sicababy to do that. But I think you shouldn't reject him the 2nd time. He might never return again." I said as I heard a gasping sound on the other line.

The 3 of us continued chatting as Boa informed that she'll most probably bring her partner to meet us before the actual engagement day itself.

2 weeks later, me and the girls were gathered at a restaurant as we waited for Boa and her partner to appear. Once the couple entered the private function room that I've reserved, everyone had their eyes on the man who was holding on to Boa's hand.

"Annyeonghaseyo, Jung Yunho imnida."

All of us took turns to shake the hands of the man that had just introduced himself.

"He's not bad-looking. Luckily, you've got good taste." I whispered to Boa who was standing beside me and received an elbow to the stomach by Boa. "Ouuchhh."

"What's wrong, Jaegi?" Jessica asked when she heard me as I pouted and repeated Boa's actions to me. "Did you again? You deserve it if you did that."

Boa heard Jessica's words and they gave each other a high-five, right in front of my face.

"Annyeonghaseyo, Yunho-ssi. I'm Hyun Jae by the way. Boa's cousin." I introduced myself and bowed a little.

"Hyun Jae, right? It's my pleasure to be able to meet you finally. Boa has been telling me a lot about you. By the way, you can just call me Oppa." Yunho smiled as I noticed Boa and Jessica looking at us.

"Did she spread bad rumors about me?" I asked as I placed my fingers on my chin.

"I would never do that. Most probably you'll be the one spreading rumors about me instead." Boa said as she meronged at me.

"Your life is too boring to even have any rumors attached to it." I replied causing everyone to laugh as Boa threatened to punch me. "Anyway, why don't we all have a seat first and Yunho Oppa can introduce himself more to us."

Everyone agreed and took a seat beside each other's partner at the big round table before all the attention diverted to Yunho.

"As you all know, my name is Jung Yunho. I'm 25yrs old, same age as Boa but older than her by 6months. I'm actually a dance instructor and I owned two dance academy. One in Tokyo and one in Seoul. I'm an orphan. My parents passed away 2yrs ago in a car accident." Yunho bowed a little as everyone except for Boa was surprised to learn about his parents.

"We're sorry to hear about your parents, Oppa." Taeyeon said as everyone nodded their heads.

"I think they're at a better place right now." Sooyoung commented as Yunho smiled.

"Thanks everyone. It was hard at first but I'm adapting well now." Yunho replied.

"Are you an only child, Yunho Oppa?" Yuri asked as he nodded his head. "Just like Boa and Jae."

"I'm just wondering about something though. How come Jae, Yuri and Taeyeon doesn't call Boa as unnie while the rest does it?" Yunho asked, causing the 3 musketeers to smile nervously. "I'm not saying that I've got something against it but if you girls call me Oppa and call Boa by her name, it'll make me feel old." Yunho pouted as our girlfriends giggled at his actions, saying that it's cute.

"Yah!!!" Me, Taeyeon, Yuri, Hyoyeon and Sooyoung glared at our girlfriends.

"Anyway, the 3 of us are used to calling her that since young. She was the one who doesn't allow us to call her unnie, saying that she felt old around us If we called her that. In actual fact, she is 3 yrs older than us. If you want us to start calling her Unnie, we'll do so." I explained as Yunho shook his head.

"It's okay. Just stick with whatever that you're comfortable with even though I know that she calls you Jagiya." Yunho smiled at me as my jaws literally dropped. I didn't expect for him to actually knew about it as I felt embarassed and scratched the back of my head.

The other girls laughed at my reactions. Boa then called the waitress to serve us our dinner as we continued chatting to get to know each other better and also asked about how Boa and Yunho ended up being together. While we were having our dessert, Boa informed us about her engagement party which would be held in 2 months time.

"By the way, how's school anyway? Most of you will be graduating by next February except for Yoona and Seohyun. Come to think of it, how come the two of you never call the other girls as Unnies?" Boa asked as she pointed to the two girls.

"We learnt from you." Yoona and Seohyun replied at the same time before giving each other a high-five.

It was Boa's turn to be laughed at as she chuckled nervously and hid behind Yunho's shoulders to cover her blush.

"Yunho oppa, you said that you owned a dance academy in Seoul too, right?" Hyoyeon asked as he nodded his head, making the attention shift to them. "What's the name of the academy ?"

"It's called U-know Dance Academy. By the way, what I heard from Boa is that you're good at dancing too. Maybe you can perform during our engagement party. It'll be held in Tokyo but I hope all of you can attend it since it's already the winter break by then. Furthermore, its' on Christmas eve. The best time to gather with family and friends." Yunho smiled at everyone.

"He wanted it to be on Christmas eve because he said that he's been spending Christmas alone for the past 2 years so he wanted it to be merrier this time round. It'll just be a small gatherings among our families and friends. Maybe less than 100 guests." Boa explained.

"Okay. We will perform for you." Hyoyeon replied as we looked at her.

"Who are you referring to?" I asked as Hyoyeon pointed to me, Taeyeon, Sooyoung and Yuri. "Yah!! Since when did we agree to do that?"

Taeyeon, Sooyoung and Yuri joined in to argue about Hyoyeon's sudden decision but we finally agreed to do so when our girlfriends said that they wanted to see us perform too.

"You girls are totally whipped." Boa laughed as the 5 of us just pouted.

********************************

"Arrghhhh!!!" I flopped myself on the floor of the living room.

"Yah!! What was that for? You shocked all of us." Taeyeon asked as I closed my eyes.

"Is everything okay, Jae?" Yuri asked as she patted my thighs.

"Stress." I replied as I placed my right arm on my forehead.

"Take a break first. Go out and take some fresh air. You've been staring at your papers for the past 4hrs." Hyoyeon suggested.

"Did you even eat dinner?" Sooyoung asked as I shook my head. "Want some?"

I opened my eyes to see a banana dangling in front of my eyes. I shook my head and sat up straight. Looking at my watch, I saw that it was already 8pm. Me and the other 4 girls have been spending our time together in the living room since morning to do our assignements after fall semester began about 2weeks ago.

"I'm going out for some fresh air. I'll be back soon." I informed the girls as I stood up.

After grabbing my car keys and a hoodie from my room, I was about to held out my hand to open the main door when the doorbell rang.

"Oh my god. You shocked me." Jessica placed her right palm on her heart as she was startled that the door had opened instantly after she rang it. "That was fast."

"I was on my way out, actually. What's that?" I smiled as I pointed to a container that Jessica was holding on to in her left hand.

"I've got a feeling that you've not taken your dinner. So I cooked kimchi fried rice but I'm not sure if it's nice though." Jessica smiled nervously.

"Omo, jinjja?" My smile was so wide as a sense of pride seeped through my body.

"Is that Sica at the door? Did I hear kimchi fried rice?" Sooyoung's voice was heard from the living room.

"Anni, anni.. No such thing. You should go back to studying. I'm going out with Sica for a while. Bye." I pushed Jessica softly to the side as I quickly closed the door behind me. "Are you free right now?"

"I am. Wae?" Jessica asked as I took the container and held her hand.

"Let's go somewhere and eat this in peace. Away from the shikshin." Both of us giggled as we made our way to my car.

20mins later, I put the empty container aside as Jessica handed me a napkin to wipe my mouth. Both of us had been seating inside my car while I ate the food that Jessica had cooked for me.

"Thanks, Sicababy. That kimchi fried rice is awesome especially with the fried egg on top." I grinned as I accidentally burped. "Excuse me."

"I'm just glad that it's edible. I was too lazy to go to the cafetaria so I decided to just cook and bring it over to your dorm. I wasn't expecting you to be going out though. Where were you planning to go anyway?" Jessica asked me.

"I was a little stress out with school work and was thinking of going out to get some fresh air. Maybe grab a light dinner before going back to my papers." I said as I leaned back into my car seat. "But since you're here with me now, let's just listen to some music and stay in the car."

"I thought you wanted to get some fresh air?" Jessica looked confused as I smiled.

"It's okay. You're my stress reliever." I said as I placed my head on Jessica's shoulders after turning on the radio in my car.
