Chapter 61

Let's talk about love

"Hey Min, do you have a boyfriend?" Taeyeon asked as all of us took a seat at the bench after our futsal practice.

"No." Min replied shortly as she smiled at Taeyeon.

"There's no guy that had caught your interest so far?" Sooyoung asked as she took her towel and wiped her sweats away. Min just shook her head.

"Don't tell me you're into girls too, like Hyo?" Yuri asked with a shocked expression. I almost burst out laughing seeing how the girls were pretending to be shock.

"Yah!!! Min is straight. But she's too fussy." Hyoyeon replied as Min punched her on her shoulders. "She wants a guy who can dance as good as her."

"I'm someone who really loves dancing so my future partner needs to be good in dancing. So far, only Hyo is able to keep up with me when it comes to dancing." Min replied as she stood up and excused herself. She said that she needed to go off first as her roommate was waiting for her.

As we watched Min walking away, I saw Yuri, Taeyeon and Sooyoung pouted and gave each other the eye signal. I guessed Hyo must have seen it all as she quickly asked them about it.

"What's going on here? How come all 3 of you are suddenly asking Min such questions?" Hyo asked as I stood behind Hyoyeon and gave a cut-throat pose to the other girls without Hyoyeon noticing.

"Hyo, did you bring your portable charger with you? My phone is running low." I said as I placed my arms on Hyoyeon's shoulder in an attempt to divert her attention.

"It's in my bag. Wait." Hyoyeon replied as she went to her duffel bag to get it out. After passing the charger to me, Hyoyeon turned back to the other girls. "Don't tell me one of you have an interest in Min? That's why you guys are asking such questions." Hyoyeon laughed.

"Who's got an interest in Min?" Tiffany's voice was heard behind Hyoyeon as Taeyeon panicked.

"One of them." Hyoyeon pointed at where Yuri, Taeyeon and Sooyoung were sitting with a poker face. "They've been asking Min some weird questions earlier."

Hyoyeon skipped to Seohyun's side and grinned while Tiffany glared at Taeyeon.

The truth is, after that night where Jessica informed us what happened to Seohyun, we tried to think of a plan. We decided that before we can make Hyoyeon realised her mistake, we need to be sure of how Min felt about Hyoyeon. Out of all our girlfriends, only Seohyun, Tiffany and Jessica were not aware of our plan. Yoona and Sunny knew about it since we had informed them during our futsal break earlier.

"Kim Taeyeon, you've got a lot of explanation to do." Tiffany said as she walked away with Taeyeon running after her.

The rest of us couldn't control our laughter and followed the TaeNy couple from the back. While walking beside Jessica, I purposely walked slower than the rest so that both me and her will end up at the back of the pack. After making sure that the HyoHyun couple was a distance away from us, I explained everything to Jessica.

"So do you think Min like Hyo more than a friend?" Jessica asked.

"We didn't really manage to confirm it because she left after a few questions. Hyo said that she's straight but fussy about her ideal type. But what I'm curious about is one of her answer. She used the term 'future partner' instead of 'future boyfriend'. If she's really straight, wouldn't it be natural for her to use the term boyfriend instead of partner?" I asked Jessica with a frown on my face.

"It could go both way, Jaegi. Maybe she's a bi?" Jessica replied causing me to frown deeper. "Or maybe you think too deep into the answer?"

I rubbed the back of my neck and pouted. Jessica wrapped her hands around my arm and gave me a peck on my cheeks. I looked at her and smiled.

"Yah lovebirds. Do you think I'm your doormen?"

Both of us turned to the direction of the voice and saw Sooyoung holding on to the door of our dorm lobby for us. We quickly ran to her and apologised as Sooyoung just shook her head.

********************************

After that failed attempt to find out more about Min's feelings, we decided to change our tactics by testing Hyoyeon. On that Sunday, we decided to drove back to Taeyeon's place to hang out. While our girlfriends helped Aunt Kim to prepare lunch for us, the rest of us decided to spend time at the music room.

Hyoyeon had asked Sooyoung to teach her how to play the drums while me, Yuri and Taeyeon were playing around with our guitars. After giving Sooyoung the eye signal to start, we prepared ourselves to bombard Hyoyeon with questions later.

"Hey Hyo, Seohyun is very good at playing the piano right. Have you asked her to teach you before?" Sooyoung asked with a straight face.

"Anni, piano is too sentimentel for me. I prefer the drums because it's loud and energetic. Just like dancing." Hyoyeon replied as she concentrated on playing the drums.

"Ouh.. but is Seohyun a good piano teacher?" Sooyoung asked again.

"I'm not sure. Wae? You want to learn to play the piano?" Hyoyeon stopped playing and turned to face Sooyoung.

"Anni, anni... Not me. A classmate of mine was asking if I know someone who can play the piano well. He was thinking of learning how to play." Sooyoung replied as she frowned and placed her palm below her chin as if she was thinking.

"He? It's a guy? Who is he? And why does it have to be Hyunnie? Jae is also skilled in piano." Hyoyeon said with a tint of panic in her voice.

"I'm not sure if you've heard of him but his name is Jung Yonghwa. Jae is good but not as good as Seohyun, right Jae?" Sooyoung suddenly asked me causing me to turn and pretended to look lost.

"Soo was saying that a classmate of her wanted to learn how to play the piano. She wanted to recommend Hyunnie to him but I said that you are also good with piano." Hyoyeon replied as everyone stopped playing their instruments and started to take part in the conversation.

"If I was to compare my skills with Seohyun's, I have to admit that she's much better than me." I said honestly.

"Are you referring to Yonghwa, Soo?" Taeyeon asked as Sooyoung nodded her head. "I've heard him asking around too. There were some girls who did volunteered to teach him but it seems they just volunteered so that they can spend time with him when they're not even good with their piano skills."

"Spend time with him? Wae? Is he good-looking?" Yuri asked while blinking her eyes.

"Remember that guy who did a performance during our first year with his bandmates? The one where almost every girl was dying to take a picture with him after that?" Sooyoung said as I looked at her with a confused expression since I wasn't around during the first year.

Before Yuri can reply back, Hyoyeon cut her off. "Whatever or whoever he is, he doesn't really need a really good teacher if he just want to learn some basic piano skills. Jae will be good enough to teach him. Anyway, Hyunnie is really busy at the moment so we shouldn't burden her."

"Hey, I'm busy too." I pouted as I saw Hyoyeon gave me a guilty grin. "But summer break is around the corner so it shouldn't be a problem if Seohyun want to teach him. By the way, you'll be going on that Bangkok trip with Min, right? So Seohyun can teach him after her classes since she won't be meeting you."

"My trip is not confirm yet. I might not be going. Who knows." Hyoyeon replied as the atmosphere suddenly became awkwardly quiet.

"Hhhmmm.. Hyo. Are you by any chance feeling jealous about the prospect of Yonghwa and Seohyun becoming close?" I asked with my serius look.

"Mwo?... Anni.. I... I..." Hyoyeon started to stammer as the rest of us stared at her. "Why should I be jealous? It's not confirm that they'll be close anyway." Hyoyeon replied confidently.

"So I guess it shouldn't be a problem if I ask Seohyun to teach him then." Sooyoung suddenly stood up, causing confusion to everyone. "I'm going to find Seohyun and tell her about it.

"Wait... wait.." Hyoyeon panicked and grabbed Sooyoung's wrist. "Does it really have to be Hyunnie?" Hyoyeon looked at Sooyoung's with pleading eyes.

"Are you sure you're not jealous, Hyo? Your reactions are showing that you are." Taeyeon asked with a smirk.

"Fine, fine.. I am jealous, okay." Hyoyeon answered with a pout as the rest of us laughed at her.

"Why should you? You said it yourself that it's not confirm that they'll be close right." Yuri said as she arched her right eye. "They're not even friends yet anyway."

"What if they become close? Hyunnie told me before that she always admire people who can play instruments well. If that Yonghwa guy is in a band, it's obvious that he can at least play the guitar." Hyoyeon said.

"It's that why you wanted to learn the drum?" Sooyoung asked as Hyoyeon slowly nodded her head. "Auwwww... I didn't know our Hyo can be so sweet yet a bit slow at times."

"Even if they become friends, I don't think it should be a problem. Yonghwa is a nice guy and everyone know that you and Seohyun are a couple. I don't think you've to worry about it. He won't disturb your relationship." Yuri said further as she grinned.

"Anni.. You can never be sure about this. Friends can also have feelings for each other if they become close, even if one of them is already in a relationship. For example, like Hyomin who is friends with Sunny but have a crush on her. Everyone knows that Sunny and Soo are a couple." Hyoyeon explained confidently.

"Then what about you and Min? Both of you are also close and will even hang out together sometimes. At least Hyomin only sees Sunny during practice, under the watchful eyes of Soo." I said as I saw Hyoyeon taken aback by my remarks.

"Min? Me and her are best friends. Nothing to worry about." Hyoyeon replied as she waved her hands off.

"If you can be jealous about Yonghwa and Seohyun, then how about you and Min? Don't you think Seohyun will be jealous too?" Sooyoung asked as once again Hyoyeon kept blinking her eyes.

"You're even planning to go on a trip with Min without Seohyun knowing about it. We're not saying that there's anything wrong about that trip but for Seohyun to be unaware about it, it speaks volume of how important she is in your life." Taeyeon said as she folded her arms and glared at Hyoyeon.

"I... I... I thought she'll be fine with it." Hyoyeon stammered as she started to realise her mistake.

"Don't take things for granted, Hyo. Just because Seohyun looked like she's fine with it, it doesn't mean that she's not jealous. Take me for example. I used to think that Yoongie was just being paranoid about my closeness with Hara and Hyuna. She didn't say it outright that she was jealous about it so I didn't pay much attention to her naggings. Because of my insensitivity, I almost lost her. Do you know how scary that feels? Losing her." Yuri sighed as she remembered what happened previously.

"Hyunnie is always honest to me about everything. If she's not happy with something, she'll tell me. If she's really jealous, she'll tell me too." Hyoyeon said but not as confident as she usually sound. "She will, right?"

Taeyeon, Yuri and Sooyoung just shrugged their shoulders as Hyoyeon turned to look at me. "Put yourself in Seohyun's shoes. If your girlfriend is very excited about going on a trip with her best friend, are you going to stop her just because you're jealous? Or will you try to understand and trust her?"

Hyoyeon opened to say something but she closed it back and frowned. Just when Hyoyeon was about to say something, the music room door opened and Yoona walked in.

"Lunch is ready. The rest of them is waiting for all of you downstairs."

Sooyoung was the first one to react the quickest as she dashed to the door. Yuri walked up to Yoona, took her hands and walked out together. Taeyeon and me took the guitars and put it back while Hyoyeon was still seated at the drum set, looking down.

"Hey Hyo. Come on now." Taeyeon called her as Hyoyeon looked up. That was when we saw her eyes was watery. We quickly went to her side to check if she's okay.

"Taeng, she's really important in my life." Hyoyeon suddenly said, causing me and Taeyeon to be confused for a while. "It was my mistake for not informing Hyunnie beforehand but that doesn't mean she's not important to me."

Both of us finally realised what Hyoyeon meant. Taeyeon's words earlier must have struck a chord in her heart which was why she teared up. Both of us then patted her back and said that we only wanted her to realise things that she might be oblivious of since she might take things for granted.

When we reached the dining area, we saw that everyone was waiting for us. After apologising, the 3 of us took our seats besides our girlfriends.

"The first thing that I plan to change for this house, after graduation, is the dining table. I want to change it to either 10 or 12 seats sitting arrangement." Taeyeon said as Tiffany scooped a plate of rice for her. "So that everyone could sit and eat together instead of being separated right now."

"I can help you to design one if you like." I replied as Taeyeon gave me a thumbs up. I was about to continue talking when I heard a commotion in the living room. SooSun and HyoHyun couple were having their lunch there.

"Why aren't you going to Bangkok? And who is Yonghwa?" I heard Seohyun's question and saw Taeyeon giving me the eye signal to go and check things out.

I stood up, followed by Taeyeon as our girlfriends and YoonYul couple had a confused look. Gesturing them to follow us, we then proceeded to the living room. We saw that Seohyun was listening to something that Hyoyeon was saying while Sooyoung was busy eating away and Sunny looking at us.

"What's going on here? We could hear Seohyun's voice from the dining area." I asked as Seohyun and Hyoyeon turned to look at us.

"Yeonnie said that she's cancelling her Bangkok trip because she doesn't want me to teach some guy piano lesson. I've not even heard of that guy's name before." Seohyun answered as she looked flabbergasted.

"She's talking about Yonghwa." Sooyoung replied even before Hyoyeon could open . "Hyo's jealous." Sooyoung smirked as she continued eating.

Seeing everyone's confused face, Taeyeon took the initiative to explain to everyone about what happened earlier in the music room.

"..... Hyo actually teared up earlier. That is why me, Jae and her got down late." Taeyeon finished her story.

"Mianhae, Yeonnie. For not being honest with my feelings. I didn't want to be a clingy girlfriend and I trust you. That's why I didn't object you from going to the trip. I was just upset that I wasn't informed beforehand." Seohyun said as she bite her lips.

"Seohyun cried too actually." Jessica said as she explained what happened on the day Seohyun cried.

Hyoyeon suddenly stood up and hugged Seohyun right after Jessica finished telling her story. Both of them didn't say a word and just stood there in silence while hugging. I tapped Taeyeon's and Yuri's shoulders to ask them to go back to the dining area. I then whispered to Sooyoung and asked her to eat by the pool so that we can give some privacy to the HyoHyun couple before I proceed back to the dining area.

Everyone ate quietly as we didn't want to comment anything but about 20mins later, HyoHyun couple walked in to the dining area.

"Everyone, kamsahamnida. For making me realise my mistakes and helping me out. Both of us had an honest talk earlier and had understood each other better." Hyoyeon bowed down to show us her thankful expression as we just gave her a thumbs up.

"Both of us had decided that Yeonnie will proceed with her plan to travel to Bangkok with Min." Seohyun said causing us to be confused. "But she will amend the dates in such a way that I'll be able to join them after my summer class."

Everyone nodded their heads to show their agreement to the new arrangement as I realised that Sooyoung and Sunny were not with us when they made the announcement. I told Hyoyeon about it and she left with Seohyun to look for SooSun by the pool.

********************************

"Aaarrrgghhhh.... I can't take this anymore." I pulled my hair before slamming my hands on my books.

"Yah!!! Stop complaining. My Bunny is trying to study." I turned to look at Sooyoung beside me who was busy munching on a big bag of potato chips. I grabbed it and took a handful of chips. "Yah!! Don't take so much."

I meronged at her and leaned back on the couch. Me, Sooyoung and Sunny were currently in our dorm revising our schoolwork. Taeyeon and Tiffany had went off to Busan with Taeyeon's parents to visit Jiwong Oppa who found a job there after his graduation. Oppa has been living by himself in a rented apartment since he started working there. Yoona and Yuri had went off on their own vacation to Jeju Island. Both of them had planned to go mountain climbing and trekking.

Seohyun and Hyoyeon had went out to meet Min to discuss about their trip. Ever since that day at Taeyeon's house, Hyoyeon had brought Seohyun to meet Min so that both of them could get to know each other better and the 3 of them have been spending quite a few times together.

"How long has Sica been away, Jae?" Sunny asked as I lifted up 2 of my fingers. "Two weeks which means that she'll be back only next week. Which is also our last week of summer classes. Hyo and Min will be leaving for Bangkok on Wednesday with Seohyun joining them on Friday after her last class on Thursday. What plans do the two of you have after the summer classes end?" Sunny asked as she pointed to me and Sooyoung.

"I'm not sure actually. I have to wait for Sica to come back before planning anything. I just hope that she won't suffer from jetlag." I replied as I placed my right palm under my chin.

"Bunny, since everyone will not be around, let's just stay in the dorm and have it for ourselves." Sooyoung grinned dorkily.

"Just an advanced warning. Don't make the whole dorm smell of ." I smirk before bursting into laughter.

"Yah!!!!!" Both Sunny and Sooyoung shouted at the same time as I quickly stood up and ran away when I saw Sooyoung planning to grab me. As the both of us were running around the dorm, I heard my phone rang.

"Hi Sica.... She's busy running around the house with Soo... I think Soo is planning to 'kill' her.."

I heard Sunny talking on my phone to Jessica as I stopped in front of her in an attempt to get the phone. Sunny passed it to me and I was about to talk to Jessica when I felt Sooyoung's arm around my neck, giving me a headlock.

"Yah yah yah!!! I'm trying to talk to Sica. I need to make it quick. Long distance calls are expensive. You can kill me after this phone call." Hearing that, Sooyoung let me go and I took the opportunity to ran away to my room and locked the door. I heard Sooyoung nagging at me for cheating and other things but I ignored it and concentrated back on the phone.

"Hi Sicababy. Where are you at now? Have you eaten? Is everything okay on your side?" I asked quickly. We didn't contact each other often since I didn't want to disturb her family time and she didn't want to disturb my studying time. The last time she called me was 4 days ago when she was in France.

"Hello Jaegi. I'm now in Spain. We just arrived yesterday night. I've just had my breakfast and everything is okay so far except that I'm a bit tired because of the jetlag. By the way,  what happened earlier between you and Soo?"

I explained everything to Jessica and heard her giggling on the other end. I smiled when I heard her giggles. "So Sicababy, where do you think we should go after you come back next week? I can't wait to spend time with you. We don't need to go out of the country since you might still be suffering from jetlag. We can just travel around Seoul." I rambled on happily.

"Hhhmmmm... Actually Jaegi, I called to inform  you that my vacation might be extended further so most probably I won't be back next week."

"Mwo? Jinjja? Wae?" I sighed and pouted even though I knew that Jessica couldn't see it. "How long is the extension?"

"I'm not sure but I heard Appa telling Omma that it might be an additional of 2 weeks."

"2 weeks? That's like half the month of August is gone. Sicababy, school will restart on 1st September and all 10 of us had agreed to gather back at the dorm 1 week before school starts. That means I only got 1 week to spend alone with you." Once again I sighed as I lied down on my bed, with one arm on my forehead.

"I'm sorry, Jaegi. Let me try to discuss with Appa again. Maybe we can cut it down shorter."

Part of me wanted to agree with her suggestion but another half of me felt bad for Uncle Ken. He's not seen his family for the past 5yrs. Obviously he would have wanted to spend a lot of time with them. Especially since Jessica will be staying in the dorm once school restart. Taking a deep breathe, I tried to control the disappointment I felt inside.

"Never mind, Sicababy. I think Appa Ken really want to spend a lot of time with you and Omma. Just enjoy yourselves there and bring back some souvenirs for me okay." I tried to sound cheerful so that Jessica won't be suspicious.

"Are you sure? Then what will you do when I'm not around for that 2 weeks after your summer classes ends?"

"I'll find something to do. Don't worry about me. I'll manage, okay. Anyway, we should hang up now. Overseas call is expensive and I know you need some rest to recover from the jetlag and I need to go back to my revision. Take care of yourself okay and send my regards to Appa Ken and Omma." I just wanted to end the conversation before I start to show signs of my disappointment.

"You take care too, Jaegi. Have enough rest and eat proper meals. I love you." I heard Jessica giving me a smooch through the phone and it brought a small smile on my face.

"I love you too. Bye, bye." I hung up the phone after Jessica said her goodbyes.

Staring straight to the ceiling, I felt a tear slid down my cheeks. Honestly, I've been feeling lonely at the moment. Everyone was busy with their own plans and their girlfriends therefore I've no intention to disturb them. Summer classes were hard since it's not really my favourite subject but luckily Sunny was there to help me out. She's really good with her business management skills while I'm struggling. My grades were not that good and it's adding pressure to me. I've been wanting to tell Jessica all of that but she seemed to be enjoying herself with her family so I didn't want to dampened her happiness.

I hear someone knocking on my door and quickly wiped my face before walking to the door. I was taken aback when Sooyoung suddenly rushed in and tackled me to the floor.

"Gotcha. Now you can't run away from me." Sooyoung sniggered as I just lied down with no reaction.

"Are you okay, Jae?" I heard Sunny's voice from the door as I felt Sooyoung's hands around me loosened. "You looked upset."

"Nothing." I replied with a small smile but I think Sunny was not buying my act as I saw her folding her arms. "Sica will only come back around mid-August. Her Appa is extending their vacation." I sighed as I felt my shoulders dropped.

"Aaaauwww... There goes my plan." Sooyoung said as I saw Sunny giving her a slight kick on her leg. "Buuuut... You're always welcome to join us. We can party together. Just the 3 of us."

"Don't worry, Jae. You've still got us. Anyway, me and Soo are planning to get some food at the mall. Want to tag along?" Sunny asked with her cheerful voice.

I shook my head and told them to just go ahead. I said that I need to finish up on my revision and asked them to just helped me to packed some dinner. After they left my room, I just spend the next 15mins lying on the floor before I fell asleep without realising.
