Year 12- November
Chanyeol woke up Kyuhyun came up to him
"Would you like us to turn Bom's life support off?"
Chanyeol closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose
Baekhyun was worried
"Yes... It's what she wants"
Baekhyun looked over at Chanyeol incredulously
Wouldn't he fight for Bom at all?
"Baek I'll tell you everything later" Chanyeol looked down at his boyfriend understandingly
"I'll leave you to say your goodbyes" Kyuhyun patted Chanyeol's head
Chanyeol turned too his sisters unrecognisable body.
"I know you're already gone" Chanyeol touched his sisters burned cheek
He shivered at the feeling of melted flesh
It was four in the morning
"I'm going to let you go, I know you'll just be unhappy here, I know it"
Suddenly anger overtakes Chanyeol he screams to the world at Baekhyun kicking the chairs throwing Baekhyun up against the wall
Baekhyun felt like crying, he couldn't save Chanyeol from the heartbreak he was experiencing
He couldn't stop it
Chanyeol let go of Baekhyun harshly turning to his sister once more
Baekhyun slowly slides down the wall till he is just crouching he vaguely hears Chanyeol scream and ask his sister why she's leaving him, why everyone left him
It's like Chanyeol's not even there
Just a heartbroken ball of anger and bitterness
He feels tears roll down his cheeks as he watches the destruction
Kyuhyun marches in softly but firmly he grips Chanyeol's shoulders.
"Chanyeol"
He doesn't look up he stares at the floor waiting for hysteria to come back to him
"Listen!" Kyuhyun says tears pricking in his eyes as he shouts at Chanyeol
"I know you're young, I also know she is younger, but listen! Her legacy is yours and will always be! She's gifted her biggest treasure to you! That toddler, she needs you! She is going to need you desperately, how are you going to take care of her when your like this?! And Baekhyun! Don't lose it Yeol, they wouldn't want this from you of all people"
Kyuhyun looks at Baekhyun softly letting go of Chanyeol he walks over to squat beside Baekhyun
"He's going to need you"
"I know"
"I'm going to turn life support off now okay? I want you to hold him still or I'll have the nurses inject him with relaxant"
Baekhyun nodded
"Yeollie, come here please" Baekhyun opened his arms out
Chanyeol was sobbing now, pain everywhere
It was lonely
They looked into each others eyes pain radiating between them
It was intoxicating
Tears rolled down Chanyeol's face as he slumped into Baekhyun's waiting arms, leaning into his embrace
As if it would take the pain away.
"I can't do this" Chanyeol muffled between sobs into Barkhyun's shirt
Baekhyun doesn't tell him it's going to be okay, it's not
"I'm here" was all he said
They watched as the moniter showing her heartbeat
As it slowed
As it came to a stop
"Park Bom, time of death 4.30 AM cause, multiple third degree burns, collapsed lungs and loss of lower legs"
Kyuhyun left after that, reaching for his cellphone he called Donghae
"Hae?"
"Hey, what's up? Why're you... Not home?"
"Emergency in ED... Do you remember Jongdae's friend? Chanyeol?"
"Vaguely... Don't we have a wedding today...?"
"Yeah... Jongdae's other friend Lay"
"Oh... Anyway, continue?"
"Park Chanyeol just lost his family in a house fire"
"Accidental or...?"
"Yeah accidental... It was a gas fire, that's why I'm late"
"Oh"
"Sorry"
"No! Don't be... Do you want a lift home?"
"I just need to... Give Dara over to Chanyeol... I might drive them home"
"I'll meet you at their apartment"
"13 jonghua quay"
"See you soon"
"Hey Donghae?"
"Hmm?"
"I love you"
Kyuhyun could hear his lovers bubbly laugh chiming like bells
"I love you too"

"Here she is" Kyuhyun led a four year old into the room
Her dress was burned, but she seemed unscathed
"Where's Umma?" She asked Kyuhyun
Baekhyun felt his heart break
"You're mothers... Sleeping"
"Will she wake up?"
"No..."
"Oh..."
A girl who will never know her mother
"I'm taking you home" Kyuhyun said adamantly to the couple
Baekhyun nodded whilst Chanyeol stirred in his sleep
"Yeollie... Come on we're going home"
"Hello uncle Yeollie!" Dara waved cheerfully
Chanyeol felt a smile edge on his face
"Hello Pumpkin"
"Where am I going?"
"You're coming with Baekky and I for a while"
"Like a holiday?"
"Yeah"

The drive home and Chanyeol was slowly returning
A smile here, a joke there
It would be okay
With Dara he'll live

"Thank you Kyuhyun" Baekhyun hugged him with gratitude
"Don't mention it"
The honk of Donghae's car echoed through the early morning
"That idiot" Kyuhyun breathed hopping down the porch
With a wave
Kyuhyun sped off to carry on his life
Except he'd be seeing Them very soon.

"Do you want coffee?"
"Thanks Baek"
"It's okay, Dara? Honey? Do you want some hot chocolate?"
"Yes pleaseeee Baekky Umma"
"Umma?"
"You're my pretend Umma because my Umma has gone away... Will she come back?"
"You're mummy has gone to a wonderful happy place Dara, but she's not in this world anymore, she can't come back"
"Umma's happy without me?"
"No, she was very sad to let you go darling, but she had too, she's always with us okay? She's watching us from her new home"
"Where is she?"
"In a place called heaven"
"That sounds pretty!"
Baekhyun just smiled sadly
"I'm going to go make you're hit chocolate now"

Lay was fumbling with his tie when his phone rang
"Dammit! Suho! Can you get that!"
"Hello who is it?"
"Suho...? It's Baekhyun"
"You sound.... Horrible..."
"Yeah... Chanyeol and I had to go to the hospital remember?"
"Vaguely.."
"You were faced drunk, again" Suho winced
"Yeah... Well we went there cause..."
There was a long silence- right then and there Suho knew it would be devastating
And here he was feeling miserable about himself
"Chanyeol... His family... They were in a house fire"
Suho took a deep breath, why Chanyeol?
He did nothing to deserve this
"They all died... Apart from Dara"
All of his problems are nothing compared to this- he was selfish
"I'm so sorry"
"I just wanted to let Lay know... If Chanyeol's you know..."
"Yes of course- don't worry about it, worry about yourselves"
"Thanks hyung" Baekhyun whispered his lips going dry
There was a long silence
"I have to go... I'm so sorry, I wish I could help you"
"Don't worry I know this is a sad day for you also- I'll see you there"
"Definitely- I give my love and support to you two and Dara"
"Appreciated, bye hyung"
He sounded so vaunerable
"Who was it?" Lay asked
"Baek-"
Lay read the miserable expression on Suho's face
"What happened"
"It's Chanyeol"
