18 years of loving you, and the one year it mattered.
Baekhyun sighed, Chanyeol was out again, it had been like this ever since Tao was placed in a coma
Chanyeol was always making time for Kris now, all the time
And it made him angry
He didn't know Kris was in love with Tao
It was stupid, childish, immature but he couldn't help his feelings
Just as he stopped running, Chanyeol had started
He couldn't remember the last time he had a proper conversation with Chanyeol
Last week? Last fortnight?
It was driving him insane
Baekhyun stiffened when he heard the door open, he quickly shut his eyes and pretended to be asleep on the couch TV still blaring
He fought to keep his eyes shut as Chanyeol took his coat off and sat down next to him
So close, yet so unimaginably far, I could never have him, he loves another Kris
He loves Kris
It hurts so bad
Love is a bad thing, I hate it so much
But it brought me Chanyeol
Why would you give him to me only to take him away and give him to Kris?
Chanyeol looked down at Baekhyun from where he was sitting, He'd been so busy comforting Kris he'd ignored the most important person in his life
His first and only love

But Kris needed him, it was Chanyeol who saw Kris with hollowed eyes, who saw the hopelessness in his eyes, who saw him cry buckets every night until he collapsed of exhaustion, he was the one that had to witness Kris clutch Tao's lifeless hand tight and whisper mandarin into his ears.
It was almost as bad as watching Suho, almost
They say love can destroy lives, but they also say love can save them
Chanyeol knew his friends had lost their life to love, they were alive yes, breathing, thinking, intelligent
But they weren't living, they were empty, it pained Chanyeol to see them lose the shine in their eyes, the ability to smile
He'd lost three brothers
If Tao passed, Kris would pass
Suho was already long gone

And it destroyed him
That's why Chanyeol looked after Kris, that's why he tried hard to put a smile on his face
Because he couldn't face Kris becoming like Suho, he couldn't face another lifeless being
He just couldn't
That's why Tao has to wake up
"That's why Baek, I'm so sorry" Chanyeol whispered
"Why are you so sorry?" Baekhyun bit out sarcastically, surprising Chanyeol "That you've been ignoring me? That I've been all alone? Do you know what it feels like Chanyeol? You've abandoned me once and now you're doing it again!"
"You don't understand Baekhyun"
"No I understand perfectly well, just move in with him already! Tao can stay with me!"
"Hyung what the hell are you talking about?"
"You left me!" Baekhyun shouted tears eurrupting from his eyes "Just like in high school! You left me!"
"I was confused! I needed time then, this is different I promise!"
"No" Baekhyun stated as he threw a vase on the ground the shattering ear splitting
"It's not, you left me all the same"
"I have to help him!" Chanyeol started sobbing "Baekhyun you don't understand!"
"You're right" Baekhyun Choked "Just as I stopped running, you started"
"I'm not running!"
"Do you even know what I'm saying?" Baekhyun yelled as he threw mug on the floor smashing that too Chanyeol bent down to pick it up when he felt it slice his fingers he watched as the blood began to spurt out of his hand, it wasn't that deep but it was bleeding, a lot Baekhyun covered his mouth with his hands
Chanyeol was not supposed to hurt himself
Chanyeol looked up hand still dripping with blood, he looked at Baekhyun angrily
And Chanyeol hardly ever got angry
"Before you say another damn word Byun Baekhyun, you will listen to what I have to say"
"No" Baekhyun threw a pillow from the sofa at Chanyeol and ran into the bedroom Chanyeol chased after him
"Baekhyun! What's wrong with you!?!"
"Shut up!" Baekhyun yelled crying "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Go to Kris!"
"Baekhyun! Listen to what I have to say!"
"NO! GO AWAY!"
Baekhyun made a run for the bathroom, it was a good thing Chanyeol was fast he managed to get in to the bathroom before Baekhyun could lock the door, Chanyeol however locked the door, to stop Baekhyun from getting out again
Not that it takes much to unlock the door but Chanyeol needed all the time he could get
"STOP FOLLOWING ME!" Baekhyun sobbed backing up against the bath shower "I don't want you here, you'll hurt me"
"BAEKHYUN IVE NEVER LAID A FINGER ON YOU!"
"YOU LEFT ME!"
"I HAD TOO!"
"WHY!?!? WHAT DOES KRIS HAVE THAT I DON'T!?!" Baekhyun looked down
"What makes him so much better than me?"
"Baek, this had nothing to do with you"
"You love him don't you" Baekhyun spat pushing Chanyeol away
"NO!" Chanyeol yelled incredulously how could he love Kris, when he'd loved Baekhyun all his life
"Then why?" Baekhyun asked exasperated "Why are you with him all the time!?"
"I can't have him end up like Suho, I can't, not when I can't even help Suho, even a blind person could see through that guys fake smile"
"Not Yixing, but why would Kris ever be in that situation" Baekhyun crossed his arms
"Because he's in love with Tao" Chanyeol said sadly "You can't understand, you don't see his eyes hollow out with dark purple rings, you don't see him clutching Tao's comatose body like he won't ever see it again, because if Tao dies, Kris will die with him"
"You told me you loved someone" Baekhyun cried "I thought it was Kris, he loves Tao, so who do you love then?"
Chanyeol leaned in closely "You really want to know?"
Baekhyun nodded
"You"
The shock hit Baekhyun like a blow, so much that he ran towards the door
It was locked, Baehyun quickly tried a unlock it, but it was jammed, he turned around "Let me go!"
"The doors jammed, I love you"
"STOP LYING TO ME!"
"I'm not"
"You could never love me!" Baekhyun ran once again towards the shower bath but his footing slipped he quickly grabbed Chanyeol to regain his balance but ended up pulling them both into the bath and thanks to Chanyeol's clumsy hand the water was switched on soaking them both
"Baekhyun, I've loved you since kindergarten"
"You left me" Baekhyun argued breathing shallowly at the closeness
"I needed to think, you didn't love me back, then you started dating all these guys I just smiled and pretended to be happy"
"I was running" Baekhyun breathed as Chanyeol edged closer too him "I was afraid"
"I won't ever leave you again Byun Baek, I swear it" Chanyeol whispered getting so close that their faces were a centimeter apart "You don't have be scared"
"You better keep that promise" Baekhyun muttered as Chanyeol closed in on him, slowly their lips met, Chanyeol's lips were soft and sweet, the taste of chocolate ice cream lingering on his tongue, the kisses started soft and sweet, developing into more passionate kisses fed by emotions bottled up from their childhood
The water was red from Chanyeol's hand
"I'm so sorry about that!!!" Baekhyun cried as he clutched his now boyfriends hand "No one told you to pick it up! You pabo!"
"It's okay" Chanyeol shrugged then grinned "Plus, I got you, that makes up for it"
"Yah! You're so cheesy!"
"You love cheesy!"
Baekhyun rolled his eyes getting up still dripping with water "Let's get you bandaged up okay?"
" nurse and patient" Chanyeol teased "I like it"
"YAH!"
