Chapter 38: Looking at him in a Different Way
Perfect for MeNo One’s POV
The next day, Yoona trudged out of her house to the bus stop feeling more tired than ever. After talking with her mother last night, Yoona had been thinking about Nathan an awful lot. Her mom did have a point. She had just realized that she didn’t know Nathan’s Korean name… if he did have one. Yoona was also a bit baffled to why he had not ever told her his Korean name when she had asked a while back. They’d been disturbed by Taeyeon and Leeteuk’s problems that they didn’t get to work out their own. Yoona blushed just thinking about what she had thought about. Their problems. It sounded as if they were a couple when she said that.
Yoona got on the bus hoping to find him. But she didn’t see him on the bus. When she arrived at work, she had a long face. She peered around the agency. So Nathan… ahem… “Ryeowook” wasn’t here yet? Yoona put her bag down on her chair and went over to Nathan’s desk. She began to straighten up the things on his desk. While she was doing so, a picture slipped out from his book. Yoona picked up the picture and examined it. It was a picture of… them? Ryeowook and Yoona in their childhood! She had the same exact picture in her wallet! Yoona took out her wallet and examined both photos. As she thought… They were identical! Did that mean that Nathan was Ryeowook?!
Meanwhile, Ryeowook entered the dating agency. There had been bad traffic on the highways. At least Ryeowook left the house early so he wasn’t super late, but he was later than usual. Ryeowook reached into his pant pocket and felt something in his pocket. He took it out and noticed that it was Yoona’s handkerchief. He had been wondering where it’d gone! He must’ve accidently stuck it into his pocket and forgotten about it. Yoona didn’t seem to notice that it was gone either. Ryeowook put it back into his pocket and reached the top of the stairs. He walked up to the door.
Yoona suddenly heard footsteps in the hall. Oh gosh! She returned the photo to its original location and scurried over to her desk. Just as the door opened, Yoona jumped into her seat and fell out onto the floor instead. Her wheeled chair rolled back.
Ryeowook walked in and noticed Yoona sitting on the floor. What was she doing? He couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. She looked so confused and cute.
Flustered, Yoona got up and brushed off her skirt. Honestly, Yoona want really sure why she had chosen to wear a skirt today… There was just something a bit different about her today.
Yoona had done plenty of thinking the night before. What if it was true that Ryeowook and Nathan were actually the same person? Yoona had felt a bit embarrassed thinking about the time when she had told him about her childhood crush… So now he definitely knew how she felt about him! But how did he feel about her? Yoona peered up at Ryeowook. What if they’d both changed a lot during the time they were not together? What if Ryeowook had someone else? Yoona felt a bit discouraged and upset just thinking about it.
Ryeowook smiled at Yoona and walked over to her. He looked at Yoona still on the floor, “Yoona, are you going to stay like that?” Ryeowook held out a hand to her. She cracked a smile and accepted his hand. She stood up and greeted him, “Good morning, Nathan!” Yoona laughed, “Gees, how embarrassing!”
Ryeowook went to his seat and sat down so Yoona sat down too, this time on her seat. She looked across at Ryeowook, “Say, Nathan, I was wondering if you have a Korean name? I’ve been calling you by an American name this whole time, but I was wondering if you also have a Korean name too?” Yoona knew that she had worded it awkwardly…
Ryeowook’s eyes were on his papers. He couldn’t believe it… Was he discovered? He looked up slowly and looked back at Yoona. “Ah….” Ryeowook winced. Oh no, was he found out?
