Chapter 13: Misunderstandings
Perfect for Me“I’m so confused… what did Joohyun mean?!” Kyuhyun was in shock after Joohyun had just made a grand exit.
“I must agree with you… It did seem a bit weird. Maybe I need to talk to her…” I nodded.
<3
“I remember you…” Joohyun sighed. “You came to see me last time…”
“Yeah, I did indeed, with Cho Kyuhyun. So I’m sure you also remember Kyuhyun?” I interrogated. Joohyun and I were in a café together. I’d asked her to come out to talk and surprisingly she’d agreed to.
“Well… yeah from last time…” Joohyun looked from side to side.
“No, I’m sure that you remember Kyuhyun from even before yesterday… perhaps your childhood?” I held up three fingers, “Several of your actions have already given you away.” I eyed Joohyun intensely trying to force the answer out of her. I wanted to ensure that her eyes would meet mine. I noticed that her eyes kept shifting as if avoiding my eyes.
“One, I did a bit of research on you and your name is the exact match of Kyuhyun’s description of his childhood friend, your birthday happens to be the same, your blood type, and the fact that your exposed childhood pictures match the childhood picture that Kyuhyun supplied to me.”
“Your name, Seo Joohyun, meaning calmly composed of worthy gems: virtuous pearl, and your promise with Kyuhyun. Your company was kind enough to tell me more about you and matched up to your identity as Miss. Seo. As for your “memory loss”, I don’t mean to be a creep, but I’ve also looked into your medical records and there is no evidence of you losing your memory.” I could tell that she was a bit overwhelmed by my boldness.
I held out a photo that I had “borrowed” from Kyuhyun,” This is a photo of your childhood growing up in Incheon. If I’m not mistaken, this is you and Kyuhyun playing together at your old house where you two were neighbors.”
“… Okay… you’re a bit nosy… but you did a really good job of researching me… I’d think that you’re one of my biggest fans… but you did see right through me…” Joohyun admitted. “I am exactly what you were saying that I am. I was Kyuhyun’s childhood friend. The girl in the photo is me…” Joohyun was defeated. She was wondering just who could this person be…
“Joohyun, can we sit down to talk with Kyuhyun?” I asked as Joohyun looked around the cafe. Her eyes shifted over to my hands, which had my phone in it.
“Errr… Wait!” Joohyun stood over and covered my phone, “Can I talk to you first?... Alone?” Joohyun begged.
“Uh, sure…” I agreed to as Joohyun sat back down.
“I used to be in love with Kyuhyun…” Joohyun admitted, “We played together all the time and I developed a little crush on him but as we grew older, he moved away with his family somewhere far away. When he moved, we lost contact and we’ve both changed a lot. I’ve long since decided to put my career first.”
“Why?” I questioned.
“My ultimate goal was to become world-famous so that from wherever Kyuhyun might be, he’d be able to find me and see me. Since I didn’t know how I’d find Kyuhyun, I wanted him to be able to see me… if he still remembered me. I’m still not there yet, but I know that one day I hopefully can be. I want to hear him reach his childhood dream of becoming a singer. Our childhood dream was to become successful singers together… But I don’t know when that dream will become a reality…” Joohyun admitted. Just talking it out made her feel a bit better. She finally realized what her real dream was… to be with Kyuhyun.
