Chapter 10: A New Client
Perfect for MeSpring had just ended and it was the beginning of summer. The beginning of summer- June 21st- and also… my birthday.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RYEOWOOK!” Taeyeon greeted me when I entered work. She had decorated the whole office and held out breakfast towards me.
“Ah, Taeyeon… thank you so much! How’d you know? Wow, what a surprise…” I smiled and accepted the bagged breakfast, which contained a croissant with cream and jam and a coffee.
“Oh Taeyeon… thanks so much, but I don’t drink coffee…” I handed the coffee back to Taeyeon.
“Oh, I see… sorry Ryeowook. Would you like anything else to drink?” Taeyeon apologized and took the coffee back.
“No it’s okay…” I replied but was cut off when the door to the dating agency opened and a young man entered.
“Oh, hello!” Taeyeon greeted. She placed her coffee down and stood up. She walked over and shook the man’s hand. I stood up and followed her.
“Hi, I’m Cho Kyuhyun.” He shook our hands. Taeyeon led Kyuhyun over to the seated area and I went to get some water for Kyuhyun. When I returned with the water I held it out to Kyuhyun and sat next to Taeyeon.
When we were all seated, Kyuhyun sat back and propped his feet onto the table at the center. This seemed kind of rude, but… Kyuhyun placed his hand at the back of his head as if he was relaxing. “There’s a girl… woman I really like and I want her to like me too…”
“Who is it, if you don’t mind,” I questioned. I noticed that Kyuhyun dressed like a typical boy… or maybe a slob. His collar was folded up, his sleeves were dirty and wrinkled, and his hair was fluffed up as if it hadn’t been brushed. But of course I didn’t comment about his fashion.
“The model- Seo Joohyun, I want her to be my girlfriend.” Kyuhyun spit out.
I didn’t know how to react. Did I find that amusing? Why was a young slob after a top model? He seemed like a fan-boy; didn’t he know that the possibility of a regular citizen and a top model being together was close to rare unless this was a Korean drama or a fanfiction… “But-“ I started, but was cut off by Taeyeon.
“That’ll be no problem!” Taeyeon smiled, “We’ll do whatever we can to help you!” She looked at me, “Ryeowook, I’ll be handling this case with you. Maybe it was my fault last time for just putting you on the spot right away.”
“Okay, I guess so…” I nodded and smiled at Kyuhyun.

Later on in the day, Kyuhyun decided to take me to this Seo Joohyun’s modeling agency. Taeyeon stayed at the agency, so I went with Kyuhyun. I found it a bit creepy how Kyuhyun knew so much about Seohyun, but I decided to keep it to myself.
“So, Kyuhyun, just how much do you know about Joohyun?” I asked while we traveled to the agency.
“Well… gees, I knew her since… childhood. We grew up together… She was born on June 28th, 1991 in Guro District, Seoul, South Korea. Her favorite color is white; she’s an only child… I could just keep going…” Kyuhyun admitted.
“Oh, I see…” I nodded and peered at Kyuhyun Now looking at it, Kyuhyun’s situation seemed nostalgic. My previous girlfriend before I enlisted into the army had been my childhood friend: Yoona Im, my first crush. Speaking of which, I didn’t even know about her whereabouts.
“We’re here,” Kyuhyun peered out the car window and parked into an empty space.
“Are you sure that we can park in this spot?” I asked. Wasn’t this a private driveway?
“But there’s no where else to park. I think it should be okay.” Kyuhyun replied.
I don’t know… Kyuhyun did seem a bit absent-minded.
“Okay, let’s go in,” he led me into the building.
