~Infinite Secret Santa 2013~ *Santas Revealed!*

Even Better

For allyssinspirit141

Pairing: Wooya

Prompt: It has always been 'Woogyu' but someone is not very happy, because in his dictionary there is only 'Wooya'

Hoya let his body sway with the music as the bass pounded in his ears. A part of him wanted to go to the bar and get something to boost his mood, but he knew there were already people in the club who had recognized him and he couldn’t afford to have a drunken picture of him in the tabloids in the morning. It was times like this that Hoya hated all the fame and attention he was given. It wasn’t that he was ungrateful, he just sometimes wished he could act like everyone else who was his age.

He wanted to be able to hang out with his friends in a restaurant without the owners coming up and trying to discretely ask for an autograph. He wanted to go have a drink in a club without worrying about the unflattering pictures that were destined to be published in the morning. And, more than anything else, he wanted to be the person who his boyfriend acknowledged in public.

Every time he closed his eyes he could see all the fans who came out to their performance earlier in the day. The fans were amazing, they had to wait hours in the cold just to see their idols perform for five minutes. However, among the signs asking the idols to marry them, some fans had up signs that read things like ‘Woogyu for life!’ and ‘Woohyun + Sunggyu = Love’.

Those signs always made Hoya’s stomach turn. What was so great about Woogyu anyways? Just because they had nice voices they made a good couple? That was a stupid reason. And sure the two singers were best friends, but just because people were friends doesn’t mean they’d have a good relationship.

And what made those signs even worse was the fact that Woohyun played into them to make the fans happy. It wasn’t Woohyun’s fault that Woogyu is what the fans wanted. But once, just once, Hoya wished that Woohyun would go against what those signs said and show him some affection instead of showering Sunggyu with hearts and hugs.

“Excuse me,” A girl shouted into Hoya’s ear, making him suddenly remember that he was currently in the middle of a club, awkwardly swaying back and forth to the music that he wasn’t really listening to. “You’re from Infinite, right?”

“Yeah,” Hoya nodded awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. “I’m Hoya.”

“I know who you are,” The girl fluttered her eyelashes a little as her lips curled to form a smirk. “I’ve seen you dance on the tv, but tonight I haven’t seen anything extraordinary yet.”

“Oh yeah?” Hoya smirked right back at her, no one said his dancing was anything but amazing. “Let me show you something.”

As if by fate, the music changed to a fast paced hip hop song just perfect for locking and popping. Hoya let the music flow through him, kicking out all the frustrations that were running through his mind. For the first time all night he stopped thinking about Woohyun and let himself relax.

In the middle of dancing, the girl he had been talking to came up and began to grind on him.

Hoya froze in shock, his hands hanging awkwardly in the air and his eyes wide open. He had no clue what was going on through this girl’s head. What would give her the idea he wanted to dance with her like this?

Almost immediately after Hoya froze up, the girl noticed. She turned around and gave him a questioning look, “What’s wrong?”

“I’m sorry – I can’t – I mean – I have a boy- I have to go.” Hoya finally managed to stutter out before running away from the dance floor.

Once outside, the cool winter air hit him full force bringing his mind out of the dance filled daze he had just been in and all the memories from earlier in the day hit him full force again. This was probably how fans imagined Infinite in their free time, Hoya out dancing while Woohyun and Sunggyu spent the warm night together in the practice room, working on their voices.

Feeling his phone vibrate, Hoya pulled it out and was surprised to see that Woohyun was calling him, since Infinite’s vocal coach loved to make Woohyun and Sunggyu practice as late as possible.

“What?” Hoya answered the phone more harshly than he intended. After all, none of this was Woohyun’s fault, it’s just the way things turned out. “I mean hey, why are you calling?”

“Is something wrong?” Woohyun immediately noticed something was wrong.

“No, nothing.” Hoya smiled even though he knew his boyfriend couldn’t see him. “Aren’t you still supposed to be at practice?”

“Why does it sound like you don’t want to talk to me?” Woohyun whined, making Hoya chuckle. This was probably the main difference between the two lovers. When something bothered Woohyun, the boy wanted to talk it out and make everything better immediately. Meanwhile, Hoya was the lonely, sulking type who didn’t want his boyfriend to think he was petty for getting upset over something so small.

“Of course I want to talk to you. It’s just that usually you’re at practice until one or two in the morning.” Hoya explained. “You didn’t strain your voice again, did you?”

“No I didn’t, it was Sunggyu tonight.” Woohyun answered, and Hoya could hear a smile on the other’s lips, “So I wanna go on a date tonight instead.”

“A date?” A smile found a way onto Hoya’s lips as well. With all the year end promotions and their global concert, the two hadn’t gone out on a date in months. “Really?”

“Of course.” Woohyun chuckled deeply, making Hoya’s heart race. It had been too long since he heard it. “I’ll be home in ten minutes, wear something pretty.”

“Pretty?” Hoya rolled his eyes, but it was too late. Woohyun had already hung up.

As fast as he could, Hoya ran back to the dorm and straight to the room he shared with Dongwoo. Luckily, the older wasn’t there to talk Hoya’s ear off like he normally did, so Hoya was able to grab some clothes and run for the bathroom.

After his quickest shower ever, Hoya stood in front of the mirror for a good five minutes trying to get his hair to look perfect. However, his quest was stopped when someone knocked on the door.

“I’m almost done.” He called back, expecting it to be Sungjong or Myungsoo since they were the only two in the dorm when he came home.

But then that deep chuckle he loved so much came from behind the door like music, causing Hoya to stop messing with his hair, fling the door open, and run into his boyfriend’s embrace.

“Woah, why are you acting like you haven’t seen me in a week?” Woohyun chuckled, but wrapped his arms tightly around Hoya anyways.

“No reason.” Hoya buried his head in Woohyun’s shoulder, hiding his smile. After all the thoughts that had been running through his head all day about fangirls and Woogyu, it was nice to just have Woohyun in his arms again.

“Oh, hyung!” Woohyun called out to someone. When Hoya looked up, he couldn’t help but send a small glare at Sunggyu. Just when all the Woogyu had ended, their leader had to show up. “Do you want me to make you some tea before we go?”

“No.” Sunggyu croaked, making Hoya feel guilty for having bad thoughts about him just seconds before. Just as it wasn’t Woohyun’s fault for the fans loving Woogyu, it wasn’t Sunggyu’s either. The two were just best friends, nothing more. “Go have fun on your date but don’t be back too late, we have an early schedule tomorrow.”

“We won’t, Appa.” Woohyun joked before turning his attention back to the boy in his arms. “You okay? You feel a little tense.”

“I’m alright,” Hoya smiled before pulling away and taking Woohyun’s hand, “So where are we going?”

“Just out,” Woohyun shrugged, “I was thinking about just grabbing some coffee and taking a stroll through the park. Sounds good?”

“Sounds great.” Hoya smiled brightly. He loved just simple dates like this when all he and Woohyun did was talk. Sure they spent most of their days together, but just talking, just the two of them, was completely different from when they talked around the guys or around the staff.

“Finally I get to see you smile today.” Woohyun lightly pinched one of Hoya’s cheeks. “It’s been too long.”

“What?” Hoya asked as they got into the elevator.

Woohyun took the few moments of privacy to place a soft kiss on Hoya’s lips before they reached the ground floor. “Something’s been on your mind lately, you don’t smile anymore.”

“What are you talking about? Of course I smile. We’re idols, half the time all we do is smile.” Hoya pointed out as Woohyun dragged him to the coffee shop across the street.

“Yeah, you give an idol smile. You know, one of those awkward I’m dead tired why are you outside of my dorm smiles” Woohyun stated as they crossed the street. “Or you smile when you dance, but your eyes don’t shine. I know you’re tired, but it’s not the same smile. I know you Howon, I know something is on your mind.”

“It’s nothing.” Hoya quickened his steps and walked into the café first “Do you want your usual?”

“Yeah.” Woohyun let go of Hoya’s hand so he could go up to the front and order.

Hoya was relieved when the slightly older boy let him have a second to himself to order. When Woohyun used his real name, that meant they were going to seriously talk about their feelings. Something Woohyun was great at, but always had Hoya stuttering and feeling like an idiot.

Once their order was made, the two were spotted by a small group of fangirls who walked into the café.

“Woohyun oppa! Hoya oppa!” The bravest of the girls ran towards them, but stopped when they were close enough to talk to normally. “Where are Sunggyu oppa and Dongwoo oppa?”

“At home,” Woohyun replied with a smile, he was always smiling when fans came around.

However, Hoya wasn’t feeling quite as happy. Why couldn’t the fans be happy they were out together? Why did it need to be Woogyu and Yadong? Where was the love for Wooya?

“Well we’d better be going,” Woohyun grabbed Hoya’s hand to pull him around the small group. One of the girls squealed at this action, but the rest were waving and saying goodbye. Hoya decided he liked that one girl best, she knew Wooya was better than Woogyu.

Once outside, they walked to the nearby park in silence. Hoya was mentally preparing himself, trying to come up with a reason why he was off these past few days that wasn’t as stupid as he was jealous of all the love the fans showed towards Woogyu. As for Woohyun, he was ready to talk but knew his boyfriend well enough to know the slightly younger needed a moment to collect his thoughts, and then another moment to gain the courage to actually say them aloud.

“I’m tired.” Hoya tried to use that as an excuse. “Just all the weird hours, traveling abroad and studying all that English makes my head hurt a little bit.”

“That’s it?” Woohyun asked as he took a sip from his coffee. “Nothing else is bothering you?”

“What makes you think that?” Hoya laughed awkwardly.

“Well first of all you got tense earlier when we saw Sunggyu in the hallway.” Woohyun pointed out. “Plus I don’t know if you realized it, but you practically were growling at those fangirls back there when they asked about Sunggyu and Dongwoo.”

“Well they just ran into two of their idols, don’t you think it’s a little greedy to be asking for two more?” Hoya retorted lamely. He felt stupid saying it, but it was better than saying he didn’t like how the fans paired them with other people when, in Hoya’s eyes, they were so obviously in love with each other.

“Well then how do you explain the Sunggyu thing?” Woohyun smirked, but quickly hid it behind his coffee cup. To him, despite Hoya’s cool image, the dancer was utterly adorable. Especially when he was jealous.

“He surprised me. I didn’t see him coming.” Hoya lied, kind of. He actually didn’t see Sunggyu coming, but that still wasn’t the reason he tensed up. After living with Sungyeol for so long now, people popping out of strange places wasn’t much of a surprise to anyone in Infinite anymore. Except for Dongwoo, that boy was scared of everything.

“Oh, so that’s the reason?” Woohyun nodded along, but his tone of voice let Hoya know that the singer didn’t believe him for one second.

“Yes.” Hoya was determined to convince Woohyun that he was just surprised, not jealous. Not jealous at all.

“Howon.” Woohyun used his serious voice, “If you don’t tell me the truth, I can’t tell you how much of an idiot you’re being.”

“I’m not an idiot.” Hoya protested, feeling like a pouting child. “That is the truth.”

“Howon,” Woohyun repeated.

“What?” Hoya challenged him. “What Nam Woohyun?”

“I think I know what’s bothering you.” Woohyun pulled Hoya over to a nearby bench so they could sit down. “You don’t think I get jealous of Yadong?”

Hoya felt his cheeks start to burn up. Just like always, Woohyun saw through his really bad lies and fake smiles. But then, he realized what Woohyun said, “Wait, what? Why? It’s just Dongwoo.”

“Then why are you jealous of me and Sunggyu? It’s just Sunggyu.” Woohyun shot back immediately, not missing a beat.

“It’s different,” Hoya buried his face into Woohyun’s shoulder, it felt so awkward to be talking about all of this.

“How?” Woohyun let Hoya rest against him, “Except for the fact that you and Dongwoo have Infinite H so you have hoards of fans for just you two who gush over how y you two look in your music videos. You guys got to spend countless hours together practicing for that and promoting it, too.”

Hoya lifted his head and looked straight into Woohyun’s chocolate brown eyes, “But you always talk about everything. If that bothered you, why didn’t you say anything back then?”

“Because it never did bother me.” Woohyun smiled, looking cool and confident. The exact opposite of how Hoya felt. “You guys were working. And you’re best friends, and even if fangirls hold up signs that say ‘Yadong is for life’ or make videos of you two messing around and saying you must be dating, I know that you two are best friends who have a lot in common. But that’s it. It’s just friends, and it’s just work. There’s nothing for me to worry about.”

“Why are you so great?” Hoya rested his head on Woohyun’s shoulder again. “And now I feel like even more of an idiot.”

“You’re not an idiot.” Woohyun rested his head atop Hoya’s. “You’re cute.”

“I’m not cute, I’m a guy.” Hoya pouted. “And I just can’t help it. Why do all of those fans want you and Sunggyu together so badly?”

“They don’t, really. If it makes you feel better, I’m pretty sure all those fans want to date me instead of me dating Sunggyu.” Woohyun chuckled, making Hoya smile. “They’d probably hate you for taking away their beloved Woohyun oppa if they knew we were really dating.”

“No, they’d be more upset to find out that their y Hoya oppa was taken.” Hoya smirked, feeling better.

“Just remember, no matter who the fans pair me up with, I chose you.” Woohyun stood up off the bench and pulled Hoya up with him. “Ultimately it’s my opinion that matters the most, right? And always, seven hundred times out of ten, I will choose you.”

“That makes no sense.” Yet the cheesy statement still had Hoya blushing. It also had Hoya feeling a lot better about the whole Woogyu thing because Woohyun was right. It wasn’t the fans who got to choose who Woohyun loved, only Woohyun could choose that.

“It makes perfect sense.” Woohyun quickly scanned the area before kissing his boyfriend. “You know you love it when I’m cheesy.”

“I still don’t get why.” Hoya laughed as he took Woohyun’s hand and pulled him towards the dorm, “We should be getting back now, though. We have to wake up early tomorrow.”

“I hate waking up.” After days of Hoya pouting, it was now Woohyun who was pouting. “Unless you’re by my side.”

“Why do I even like you?” Hoya loved how cheesy his boyfriend could be even if it embarrassed him a little bit when other people overheard.

“Because I’m sweet, yet still manly,” Woohyun flexed his arm muscles. “See, I’m y. That’s why you love me.”

“That’s probably the thing I love least about you.” Hoya admitted with a smile, “First I love your personality, then your eyes, then your voice, then your love for skinship, then your cheesy pick up lines and after that comes your y body.”

Woohyun stopped walking and just stared at Hoya. “Really?”

Hoya looked back and smiled even more brightly at his boyfriend, “Of course. Why? You thought your body was first?”

“No, it’s just me who usually talks like that.” Woohyun was smiling back just as brightly before he closed the distance between them and kissed his boyfriend.

When they pulled apart, Hoya looked into Woohyun’s eyes and realized just how much of an idiot he had been the past few weeks. He should have been treasuring Woohyun, not pouting in a corner. They probably lost a lot of time they could have spent together because of that, and from now on, Hoya decided that no matter how many girls chant Woogyu, all he needed were two people rooting for Wooya. Him and his Woohyun. Those were the only two people in the world that mattered when it came to their love.

“I love you, Nam Woohyun.”

“I love you too, Lee Howon.”

And Hoya found himself even more in love with his boyfriend the next day when, at the performance instead of messing around with Sunggyu between takes, Woohyun walked straight up to Hoya and wrapped his arms around the younger from behind. “Let’s make Wooya even better than Woogyu and Yadong.”
