Pairing: WooGyu

Prompt: Musical Box

His body was aching as if his heart was pumping acid instead of blood, but he felt genuinely happy for once. The throbbing pain running through his tired body felt drawn out and infinite; still, it was the first time in a long time that Woohyun woke up feeling genuinely content with his life.

It had been almost a year since constant happiness filled Woohyun's days and nights; it was unreal. It had to be too good to be true.
When Woohyun woke up in the middle of a night in a gentle embrace of a stranger he merely met the evening before, it was then that it became apparent that 'too good' simply wasn't good enough for him. Perhaps he had finally found the way out of a dream?

"Woohyun? Are you awake? How are you feeling?"

"Hm... Yes?" Woohyun spoke tiredly, snuggling into the arms of the man who held him tightly, protectively. "I feel fine." More than fine, he felt safe from all of his insecurities. The thought that these arms weren't those of his lover didn't seem to bother him, nor did he feel guilty about it.

"Why is it that doing something so wrong feels so right?" He wondered aloud.

"Why is it wrong?"
Because I have a boyfriend, for one. Woohyun thought, too tired to speak. And also...

"Woohyun?"

Woohyun had dozed off once more, this time into a deeper sleep.
Earlier that evening, he met a man at a bus stop who seemed to be shining brightly – or emitting some kind of male pheromones since Woohyun couldn't help but notice him for some reason. When their eyes met for a brief moment, Woohyun realised that the man looked so beautiful yet very sad at the same time.

Then, as a bus was finally approaching, Woohyun hurriedly took a step back in order to avoid getting splashed by the muddy slush next to the road. That in turn caused him to lose his footing and slip on the ice. In a moment of desperation as he fell, he grabbed onto the nearest thing to him, which happened to be a person.
This person's name was Kim Sunggyu, as he soon found out in a rather intimate position while lying in the snow after falling.

"Hey, wake up." Woohyun spoke softly with a smile as he shook the man awake later in the afternoon.
Sunggyu stretched his arms and back, tiredly complaining about the pain of sleeping on a couch.

"I'm sorry for crashing here all of a sudden." Woohyun nodded his head toward the kitchen before flashing a grin. "I made breakfast- or well, brunch. and coffee too!" Sunggyu tried to tell him he didn't have to go through the trouble, but Woohyun interrupted him by grabbing his hand and leading him to the kitchen. "If I had left as soon as I woke up then it would seem too much like a one night stand, except, without the..." He trailed off and started laughing lightly at his own rambling. He pushed the coffee forward and nodded at it, smiling proudly.

Sunggyu took a sip, then finally gave him a smile too, nodding, "It's perfect."

After falling into that pile of snow the evening before, the two of them had remained unnaturally calm about it. Rather than freaking out, feeling angry, or even a little apologetic, Woohyun had suddenly felt Sunggyu's chest rumble against his as he started laughing. It was so embarrassing, yet Woohyun ended up only making it more embarrassing for himself by suddenly deciding to introduce himself.
After that, he must have passed out because of his body's intolerance for the cold; that's the only reasonable explanation for why he had ended up in Sunggyu's house, he figured.

"Thank you for taking care of me." Woohyun spoke as he was fixing his scarf around his neck while getting ready to leave.

"It was no bother, don't worry about it." Sunggyu smiled gently.

"Ah," Woohyun stopped before stepping outside, and turned back to Sunggyu, "Can I ask you something?"

"Yes?"

"Did you... kiss me yesterday, just before I passed out?"

"Yes." Sunggyu said, calmly as ever.

Why? Woohyun wanted to ask, but instead apologized again for passing out. He hoped that Sunggyu wasn't too shocked or panicky when it happened. Even if he had said it was alright, Woohyun knew that no one could possibly remain calm in a situation like that.
Once he stepped outside Sunggyu's house, Woohyun began feeling a little guilty towards his boyfriend. However, knowing Dongwoo, Woohyun knew he wouldn't jump to conclusions – or well, at least not to those kinds of conclusions.

"Goodbye, Sunggyu." He smiled and waved to Sunggyu before going on his way.

The second that Woohyun opened the door to his apartment, he was enveloped in a tight hug from Dongwoo. His body felt very weak and shaking with tiredness and he clearly had not slept, making Woohyun feel even worse about staying out all night. Not that he had a choice.

"I'm so glad you're safe." Dongwoo pulled away for a moment to look at Woohyun, then kissed him before hugging him again.
Although Dongwoo sometimes had a tendency to over-dramatise situations, Woohyun knew that the worry etched in his eyes when he looked at him was sincere. He hugged him back while at the same time pushing them inside the apartment so that he could kick the door closed behind him. There was no need for the neighbours to witness this upcoming flood of emotions.

"I was really worried about you." His voice was a bit muffled as he spoke into Woohyun's shoulder, "How come you didn't even call?"

"I passed out from the cold again. Luckily someone found me and took me in, so I didn't freeze. I'm really sorry I didn't call."

"He left his phone in his room, again. That's probably why."

Woohyun averted his gaze from Dongwoo and finally noticed another figure behind him.

"What are you doing here, Hoya?" Woohyun asked, peeling Dongwoo's arms away from himself.

"Just chilling." Hoya smirked, but the mischievous expression dancing on his face seemed to tell Woohyun something else which he already knew but was strongly unwilling to believe. He hated to distrust his best friend, but lately the dancer seemed to be giving him every reason to.

"Dongwoo called me this morning to see if you were with me. I came over to see how he was doing, just in case."

"Oh. I see... Thanks."

"No problem." Hoya nodded and walked past Woohyun towards the door. "Make sure Dongwoo gets some rest before dance practice tonight. Seems like he stayed up all night waiting for you. See you later."

Once Hoya left, Woohyun turned to Dongwoo who's face seemed to say 'I dont know what he's talking about', but at the same time showed clear signs that what Hoya had said was true. He couldn't lie to Woohyun about something like that.

"Come on, lets go rest for a while. I'm tired too."
Dongwoo grinned, more than happy to be able to cuddle up with Woohyun until they fall asleep.

"Babe, lets dance." Woohyun placed his hands gently on the piano player's shoulders, chuckling in a low tone.

The pianist drew his gaze away from the black and white keys in front of him and looked up into Woohyun's smiling eyes, flashing him a grin before standing up and accepting Woohyun's hand which was extended towards him in a gentle invitation. He smiled even brighter when Woohyun pulled him close.

A seductive tune was playing in the background as they danced, something very latin-like – y and exciting.

' In every breath and every word
I hear your name
calling me out... '

Although their bodies seemed to be in perfect sync, it was clear that neither of them were experts in
dancing; they simply went with it, enjoying each other's bodies and warmth. Watching each other, smiling, never breaking their gaze unless it was to briefly spin the other around. It was all fun until it started getting hot in there.

Breathlessly, the pianist attempted to close the gap between their lips, only to be once more spun around so that his back was pressed against Woohyun's chest. "Are you having fun now?"
Woohyun felt the pianist's hands on his arms, caressing him gently before pulling away, his eyes hooded; a mischievous smile was now dancing on his face. It was a smile Woohyun knew well.

"Woohyun. Baby, wake up."

Opening his eyes slowly, Woohyun felt a strange sense of disappointment when the face in front of him was Dongwoo's, and not his piano player's, but that disappointment quickly left him and he smiled. "Morning."
Dongwoo laughed his adorable giggle-like laughter which Woohyun loved so much.

"Evening, you mean. Come on, you'll be late for work." He said, throwing Woohyun a pair of jeans and a T-Shirt before leaving their room. He then shouted from the other room, sounding like he was in a hurry, "I'm already late, but I wanted to let you sleep a bit longer since you looked like you were enjoying your dreams; you wouldn't wake up the first few times I tried to wake you. What did you dream about anyway?"

"I don't know..." Woohyun said quietly, knowing Dongwoo wouldn't hear it. It didn't matter anyway.
Woohyun decided to walk Dongwoo to work; he was a dancing instructor at the underground dance place Hoya also went to. That's also where Woohyun and Dongwoo had met a year ago. Bored and stressed out with work, Woohyun had somehow managed to talk Hoya into letting him into the practice room – not to release stress by attempting to dance, but to watch the other hot sweaty dancers practice.

"You didn't bring your phone again," Hoya spoke, smacking Woohyun's head while smirking. "Sungjong called me just now. He sounded pretty pissed off since you're late for work. Again."

"Oh . Text Jongie for me and say I'll be there in a minute! Thanks!"
Woohyun quickly kissed Dongwoo, and started running out.
He didn't care too much if he lost his job, but it wasn't very easy to find another one and he really needed money.
As expected, his cute boss Sungjong forgave his tardiness and simply ushered him to get to work. Woohyun was a pretty popular waiter among regular diners as well as new ones, especially among the younger females. It seemed like Sungjong wouldn't let him go even if Woohyun decided to leave himself.

A week passed by and Woohyun's job became more difficult as Christmas came closer and his hours got longer.
He didn't have a lot of free time to spend with Dongwoo or Hoya, except some nights when he got home a little earlier than usual.
It was becoming apparent that even Dongwoo got to hang out with Woohyun's best friend more than Woohyun himself, so when his boss decided to give him a sudden day off, he decided to spend the day with Hoya. Dongwoo had also been invited, but he happened to be busy that day; the Christmas time really didn't show any mercy to anybody who was employed, anywhere.
They spent the day reminiscing their high-school days for no reason except that the topic had already been brought up when Woohyun mentioned about his boss possibly going easy on him all the time and letting him off for every wrong-doing because he still fancied him; he and Sungjong had been dating at some point in high-school and Woohyun had been the one to break it off, so it felt pretty awkward to have Sungjong as his boss now.

Eventually, Hoya mentioned something strange. Not something so strange that Hoya wouldn't usually say – it was definitely something Hoya would say – but strange because it made him think of the beautiful stranger he met a week ago, Kim Sunggyu.
"Did you know that a sure sign of true love is when you get by their every kiss?"

Woohyun chuckled, "Come on, Hoya, that's ridiculous."

"It's true." Hoya didn't give him much time to think about the times he's ever felt that way about every kiss from someone, as he continued to bombard him with another question. "Do you?"

"Do I?" Woohyun prompted, unsure about what he was asking.

"Do you feel that way when he kisses you?"

Woohyun didn't know why he thought of Sunggyu. There was only one kiss, the one in the snow, and he had fainted almost immediately afterwards. He didn't really even remember it. Ugh. He shook his head in disbelief at the fact that he was trying to figure out if he felt that way about that beautiful stranger.

"Well, do you?" Hoya asked again, pulling Woohyun out of his thoughts.

Woohyun knew Hoya had meant Dongwoo, so he pushed the other person out of his thoughts for a moment.

"Well, yeah. I, I guess so..." He raised his shoulders and lowered them again, and Hoya pointed out to him that he sounded unsure. "He's just too cute sometimes though."

"Hm..." Hoya nodded in agreement, "but I do." He admitted seriously.

"What?" Woohyun furrowed his brows. He recalled his and Hoya's high school days again, such as the time when they had both been quite the players, and started laughing, "Ah, but wouldn't that mean everyone you've ever kissed is your true love?" Implying that Hoya was just genuinely all the time.

Hoya narrowed his eyes at him, cocking an eyebrow, "Obviously not you though."

"Seriously? Ouch..." Woohyun pretended his pride was hurt, but couldn't help but chuckle at the same time.

"Anyway, that's not really what I meant..." Hoya inhaled deeply and looked down, as if preparing to drop a serious piece of news.

"Wait, stop right there, Hoya, before I get angry. I know exactly what you meant."

Of course he knew Hoya had meant Dongwoo. He didn't have to be stupid or blind not to notice.
Woohyun knew that Dongwoo would never cheat on him, but what Hoya was trying to tell him just now implied that he had already kissed Dongwoo; there was no way the relationship between those two was just that of a teacher and student to begin with. Woohyun had known that since he first started seeing Dongwoo.
In the end, Hoya apologized for bringing it up, and swiftly changed the topic back to Sungjong, Woohyun's boss.
Woohyun appreciated Hoya for valuing their friendship enough to not let another man get between them.

When Woohyun arrived at work the following day he found out he had another day off. And another one after that. His boss told him to stop coming to work altogether, and Woohyun wasn't surprised. It had happened before, a couple of months ago. Since he always found it too annoying to call his boss formally like all the other employees did, Woohyun had choosen to call him by the familiar nickname he had used to call him back when they had dated in high school.

Jongie must really hate that, huh. Still, at least he seemed to have a soft spot for Woohyun as he didn't fire him permanently, promising it would be only until mid-January or so. His excuse was simply that he was tired of looking at Woohyun's stupidly handsome face and he needed a break; those had been his exact words.

On his way home, while he was trying to think of a way to tell his lover he was unemployed, again, Woohyun's legs ended up carrying him towards where Sunggyu lived instead. However, before he could tell himself it wasn't right and that he should go home to Dongwoo instead, he realised he wasn't even fully sure where Sunggyu lived anyway.
Instead of giving up, it had the opposite effect on him; Woohyun decided to take on this challenge and started looking around.
The houses all looked the same due to being almost completely covered by snow, but Woohyun eventually followed his gut feeling straight to Sunggyu's front door. He knocked, and immediately smiled as an angel opened the door for him.

"Woohyun?"

"Hi. Help me, I'm cold. I think I'm about to faint again." He said as he let his body fall forward, towards Sunggyu, trusting him to catch him, and he did. Somehow Woohyun just knew he would. He hugged Sunggyu tightly and almost told him he missed him.

"Come in. I'll make you some tea and then we'll see what else I can help you with."
Sunggyu's words made Woohyun unbelievably happy; he couldn't seem to stop smiling as he waited in the living room.
Woohyun felt at home, even if it was just his second time there. It felt like Sunggyu was his home, like he's where he belonged.

"What's up? You seem happy." Sunggyu returned with a hot cup of tea.
Woohyun shook his head but smiled nonetheless.

“How've you been, by the way?"

"Good. A little sick though, since that day." He coughed again.

"Sorry..." Sunggyu just laughed and coughed again at the same time, causing Woohyun to chuckle as well since it sounded funny.

"Quit apologizing all the time, Woohyun. It's all you ever say when you're here."

Woohyun grinned playfully, "Yeah, sorry about that."

Sunggyu shook his head, "What about you then?"

"How I've been? I've been... I've just... been." Woohyun trailed off, thoughtfully.

For some reason Woohyun couldn't seem to find words to explain what was going on in his life. It's not that Woohyun didn't want to talk to Sunggyu about how bothered he felt about the fact that his best friend was in lust with his boyfriend; or the fact that he even had a boyfriend, and that this boyfriend would probably cry if he did not go home soon; or how the cute little demon boss of his had fired him because he was sick of looking at Woohyun's face and needed a month long break from him.

He wasn't trying to hide the fact that he had a boyfriend; he just didn't want to talk about any of those things for some reason.

"Okay." Sunggyu chuckle-coughed again.

"Huh?"

"You seemed to suddenly have a lot on your mind. As if there was a debate going on up there. It's fine if you don't tell me." He smiled that gentle, charming smile Woohyun suddenly realised he had missed.

"I have a boyfriend." . Why did I say that?

Sunggyu just smiled a blank smile and nodded, but didn't say anything.
Woohyun then quickly changed the subject by telling Sunggyu about how Sungjong fired him, just to move on from the topic of his unavailabilty as quickly as possible. Though he could have picked the new topic better than another boyfriend, a former one.

"It was very unprofessional, right? Don't you think so too? That little demon..." Seeing Sunggyu nod, he continued, "How does one get sick of this anyway?" He pointed at his face with an incredulous look, "I'd understand if he said it was because I kept calling him Jongie. I think he still fancies me since high school..."

When Sunggyu still didn't say anything, Woohyun kept running his mouth. He ended up talking about his best friend friend too, how Hoya was a notorious player back then during their high school days, along with Woohyun himself. This of course brought the conversation back to the topic he tried to avoid the most which was his current boyfriend.

Sunggyu simply agreed some more with whatever Woohyun told him and eventually offered to make dinner.
Woohyun was more than happy to stop talking about his life. He was immensely grateful that he didn't accidentally tell Sunggyu about him being the first person he thought of when his best friend mentioned something about how supposedly one should always be by a true love's kiss or whatever.

After dinner, they watched TV until a programme came on that Woohyun seemed to love but Sunggyu didn't care for.
The show was made by two men who claimed to be real cupids. For each episode they chose three contestants who would go on a couple of dates, which would help in deciding who they belonged with. The point of the show was that although all three would have perfect compatibility with each other, only the two who belonged together would fall in love and leave together. The third one would then have to wait for two new contestant to join him or her on the next episode, out of which one may or may not be their destined lover.
Sunggyu said it was really stupid, while Woohyun seemed to be more interested in the two 'cupids'.
"I'm willing to bet money on it, that they're a couple in real life. I know one of them, Sungyeol, from highschool."
Sunggyu yawned, while lying down and placing his head on Woohyun's lap. "I'm tired."

"Oh. Sleep then, I'll wake you up in a bit when this ends."
Woohyun promised, but ended up falling asleep too.

' Into the fire on my own, I know I won't see your face again. Are you sitting there alone?
Are you thinking like me, of the laughing times? Of all the sad and loving times? '

A song playing on the radio. A voice he recognized. Singing a song that seemed to aim to tear his heart into pieces.

"Woohyun, baby. What's the matter? Why are you crying?" Dongwoo ran over to him, holding him tightly, hugging him, while Woohyun was on the verge of breaking down, shaking and crying uncontrollably. "Woohyun..."
Woohyun felt helplessly confused. Nothing made sense. He never cried, and this time he couldn't stop.

' Promise me you'll think of us as a time so wonderful. '

What could have possible been so wonderful that suddenly missing it made Woohyun's heart ache so much? What was he missing? The person on the radio probably wasn't even singing to him, yet he sounded so familiar. Who was he missing so much all of a sudden?

' Promise me, promise me. I will be fine without you.
Promise me, promise me. Once more in my life to see you. '

Eventually, with the song coming to an end, Woohyun's tears also stopped. He fell silent, and calm.
"What just happened?"

"Isn't it obvious?" A voice spoke up behind Dongwoo. Woohyun didn't have to look up to know it was Hoya, "Didn't you hear the song on the radio just now? The person singing it too. Woohyun's ex-"

Suddenly, Woohyun stood up, glaring at Hoya. "Just forget this ever happened. I don't know what came over me."

Woohyun woke up sweating.
Sunggyu was holding him in his arms so tightly as if he was scared of letting him go. Struggling out of that grip was no easy task, but somehow he managed.

Woohyun never intended to stay over but it was already morning.

Since Sunggyu hadn't woken up yet, he decided to go and make breakfast. First, he made his way to the bathroom to wash up since he felt dirty. Instinctively, he grabbed one of the two toothbrushes by the mirror, his disoriented mind making him believe it was his own. Then, he went into the kitchen to make breakfast before returning to the living-room where Sunggyu was already getting up and stretching.

"You make the best coffee," Sunggyu said, taking another sip of the hot beverage before flashing him a grateful smile.

"Really? I hate bitter coffee myself, so I can't tell."

"Then how did you know I don't like much sugar or milk in mine?"

Woohyun scratched his head in confusion, "Uh... Lucky guess?"

They spent that day watching TV again, and cuddling occasionally when they were lazy and cold; it simply felt like a normal thing to do. Woohyun enjoyed listening to Sunggyu's voice whenever he was singing while tidying the place or washing the dishes. He even tried to harmonize with him, but it didn't quite work out since he didn't know the lyrics. Later, he even got a shower there since he was too tired to go home for it, and then they both fell asleep on the couch again.
Another day passed and Woohyun was finally beginning to find it strange how comfortable he felt there. He never grew bored even if sometimes he and Sunggyu didn't talk at all. He even helped Sunggyu keep the place tidy; and even though it wasn't his own home, it was beginning to feel like it was.
Woohyun realised didn't really want to leave anymore.
Staying another night didn't seem like such a bad idea.
The following morning he woke up to the sound of a crazily familiar tune being played on the piano. Woohyun couldn't recall where he had heard it and it drove him crazy as he continued lying in bed for a little while longer, just listening. There were even song lyrics on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't recall the exact words. They must have been in english anyway.
Eventually he got up and walked into Sunggyu's room.

"Am I dreaming?" He asked, quietly, approaching Sunggyu from behind while he played.

"Probably." Sunggyu jokingly told him.
Perhaps that's what brought on Woohyun's following actions, or so he insisted in his own mind.
He stepped closer to the piano, which Sunggyu had stopped playing by then but still kept his hands on its keys. Woohyun placed his warm right hand on top of Sunggyu's cold one. When Sunggyu looked up in bewilderment, Woohyun leaned down and kissed his lips lightly.

"Morning, babe. Want some breakfast?"

"Uh, yes. Sure." Sunggyu replied, sounding very unsure but Woohyun didn't pay attention to it.
The incident seemed to be forgotten by the time they ate breakfast, since neither mentioned anything about it.

"By the way," Sunggyu spoke while picking up the dishes and bringing them to the sink. "I've got to go to work today."

"Work?" Woohyun asked incredulously, almost as if it sounded crazy to him. He blinked, and shook his head, realising it made sense. "Can you ask your boss to give me a job too? I'm so unemployed it hurts." He joked.

"Sure, I am the boss. Would you like to become my secretary?"

"Oh! Yes please. I'd love that." Woohyun laughed.

"Great, when can you start?"

"Wait, you were serious? Holy , are you rich?!" Woohyun looked around, only then seeming to realise that Sunggyu's place looked more like a mansion than a normal house. It made Woohyun's own apartment look like a shed.
Sunggyu just laughed a bit and nodded, "Not exactly rich. I mean I didn't buy this place on my own... I used to live here together with someone up until a year ago." He trailed off as he turned off the tap and turned to Woohyun, "So, about becoming my secretary. How about it?"

"Um, I'm not sure if I'm qualified to do that. I don't even have proper experience."

"Ah, I'm sure you do. You seem capable, and I'm in need of a secretary since my last one left last Christmas."

"You haven't been able to find a new one for a whole year?"

Sunggyu shrugged, "I haven't looked for one."

Woohyun still didn't take Sunggyu's job offer seriously, and decided to drop the subject. He helped Sunggyu tidy the place a little bit before they got washed up and properly dressed to go outside. Sunggyu let Woohyun borrow one of his scarves since Woohyun didn't bring one himself when he arrived three days ago.

Three days. That's how long Woohyun had spent with Sunggyu.

It was only when Woohyun stepped outside Sunggyu's place that he realised that he had become too comfortable there, and started forgetting about his own home. Also, Woohyun suddenly missed Dongwoo and Hoya, and even his cute little demon boss, Sungjong. He turned around to tell Sunggyu he needed to get back home, but it seemed like Sunggyu already knew.
Sunggyu stood there with an understanding smile, and nodded. "I'll drive you home if you want."
"It's fine. But I'll visit again soon, alright?" Woohyun promised.

Having been gone for three days, Woohyun was not surprised when Dongwoo started crying as soon as he stepped into the apartment. It caused a flood of emotions to erupt in him also, causing him to tear up a little bit as well, as he hugged the crying Dongwoo in his arms tightly.

"Bunch of babies." Hoya spoke while leaning against the wall, smirking.
Hoya's blunt words brought the mood up a little bit, as Dongwoo brightened up, wiping away his tears.

"Where have you been?" Hoya asked sternly while looking Woohyun straight in the eyes.
Woohyun stayed quiet, unable to answer that. Unsure of whether he should tell the truth or not. He reasoned with himself in his mind that No, for sure he wasn't out there cheating on his beloved boyfriend or anything, but somehow the truth would have sounded like he had been.

"Honestly? I'm not sure..."

"That's crazy, you were gone for three whole days."

Woohyun was silent again.
Dongwoo suddenly decided to cut in, chuckling, "Hey Woohyun, is it true that Sungjong fired you again?"
Woohyun wasn't sure whether to feel relieved, or to take it as a bad sign.

Suddenly, Hoya laughed too. "Yeah, when I asked Sungjong if he had seen Woohyun since he was the last person Woohyun had been to, he started panicking and frantically apologizing to me for firing him. It seems he thought that Woohyun went missing because of him, since he even promised to give Woohyun a raise if he went back to work." He paused for a moment, then added, "But of course, I told him that wasn't necessary."

That caused Woohyun to snap out of his daze. "WHAT?! What kind of a best friend does that?"

"An honest one." Hoya was completely unfazed by Woohyun's glares, "One that makes sure his best friend gets what he deserves."
Dongwoo hugged Woohyun who seemed to be about to break down from disbelief and repeated Woohyun's statement, "What kind of a best friend are you, Hoya?"

"Jerk." Woohyun added, snuggling into his boyfriend's arms.
Hoya rolled his eyes, annoyed since both of them were ganging up on him and forgetting about the issue of Woohyun's absence.

Woohyun returned to work the next day and Dongwoo joined him. The restaurant was becoming too busy to handle with the limited staff and Sungjong had begged Dongwoo and Hoya to help out; the latter said he had better things to do so only Dongwoo accepted his request. Woohyun loved watching his boyfriend as a waiter; the customers really seemed to like him too as some of them commented how much brighter the atmosphere there had gotten with the new waiter. Although a little jealous of losing to him, Woohyun admired Dongwoo's smiles and pleasant attitude.

Soon it was finally Christmas eve and the two of them decided to have a proper Christmas dinner to celebrate it. Dongwoo specifically asked Woohyun not to invite Hoya, which he found slightly odd. "I want it to be just the two of us." Dongwoo had said to him shyly, and of course, Woohyun had no problem with that.
While cuddling on the couch and watching a movie, Woohyun felt bored. The movie wasn't so great, and he would have rather done something else with Dongwoo; so he kissed him, enjoying the way Dongwoo's arms immediately tightened around him.
Hoya's words about the kiss suddenly came back to his mind and wouldn't get out. He pulled away.

"Dongwoo..."

"Hm?"

"How do you feel about Hoya?"

"Honestly? I may act ignorant to Hoya's feelings toward me, but I can see right through him."

Woohyun furrowed his brows, confused. "Okay, but how do you feel? He's in love with you, you know?"

"I know. But I have you," Dongwoo pecked Woohyun's lips again, and chuckled, "That's all that matters."

"Why don't you just confront him about it though?"

Dongwoo stayed quiet for a moment before replying, "I don't want to hurt his feelings."

Woohyun woke up the next day in the afternoon, surprised that he had fallen asleep on the couch again. It seemed to have become a habit. He noticed that Dongwoo was still asleep so he went into their room and grabbed a blanket before placing it on him. Since they had stayed up until late, he decided not to wake him, and instead grabbed his keys and made it out of the apartment as quietly as possible.
He decided to go and hang out with Sunggyu to pass the time.

"Back so soon." Sunggyu seemed quite surprised.
He also looked more tired than usual and maybe a little sad but Woohyun wasn't entirely sure.

"How's it going?" Woohyun asked, stepping into the house. "Can I have some tea?"

"Help yourself. You've kind of interrupted my piano practice right now."

". Sorry about that." Woohyun decided to just wait until Sunggyu finished.
Somehow, Sunggyu sounded colder than usual today. Maybe he was cranky since he didn't get much sleep? Or was there something else? He played one tune over and over again; that same crazily familiar tune that poked into his heart somehow.
He played it six times before finally turning his attention to Woohyun, giving him a weak smile.

"I'll get you that tea now. Come with me." Woohyun was lead towards the kitchen by the hand, but was stopped in the hallway between the living room and the kitchen. "Go up and wait for me. I'll be right there."

Woohyun looked at the ladder on the wall, which he would have never noticed had Sunggyu not pointed it out to him. That was really strange, but somewhat exciting. He made his way up, and found that it lead to the roof, which was like a normal room except it was almost in the open air. There was a dome-like glass surrounding it.

"Cool."
There was a couch in the middle of it, and a small table too. Woohyun sat down and looked up at the sky. It was already getting dark and stars could clearly be seen. It was almost breath-taking, and somewhat nostalgic.

"Do you like it?"

"I love it."
Woohyun saw Sunggyu approach him with a steaming cup of tea and gladly accepted it from him.

"How did you afford all this? I thought you said you weren't rich."

"I told you. I wasn't always alone."

Woohyun felt strange all of a sudden. He didn't want to pry about Sunggyu's personal life so he commented on the tea instead. "Strawberry flavour. It's my favourite. How did you know?"
Sunggyu just smiled and nodded, leaning back to look at the sky.
The full moon provided enough light so there was no need for candles or anything.

"We can count the stars like this." Woohyun mused, finding it rather romantic. Suddenly he turned to look at Sunggyu, finally taking notice of the arm that Sunggyu had casually draped around his shoulder to keep him warm. "You're crazy..."

Sunggyu chuckled, but kept his eyes on the stars, "Why am I crazy?"

"This is almost like a date."

"Almost?"

Sunggyu then turned his gaze to Woohyun, making the younger nervous all of a sudden. Woohyun leaned his head back a bit when Sunggyu tilted his to the side to get a better look at his face.

"I swear, if you kiss me again, I will-"

"You will what?" Sunggyu challenged. He waited for a response but didn't get one.

Sunggyu then leaned in and did just what Woohyun expected. He kissed Woohyun's lips lightly, smiling a bit as he enjoyed the response he was getting. Woohyun's mouth was hot after drinking the tea, but Sunggyu's was cold.
Woohyun did all but try to push him away.
He surprised himself by kissing Sunggyu back, almost desperately. A strange feeling inside him seemed to want to burst, especially as he suddenly recalled again about what Hoya had said about kissing.
Then, he pulled away with the realisation.

Until then they had only shared two brief kisses and Woohyun wanted to keep it that way, but it seemed to take far too much willpower and Sunggyu made him incredibly weak. He clutched his shirt tightly near his heart, scrunching up his face in pain and relaxing again while leaning back and looking at the stars again.

"My heart hurts so much right now. Why is it like this..."

"I don't know."

"Did you put some kind of poison in my tea? Is that it?"

"Poisoning you is the last thing I want to do to you."

"Then what?" Woohyun turned to look at Sunggyu, almost angry all of a sudden. "What is happening to me..."

"Woohyun. I think it's better if you stop coming here. I don't think I can stop myself from kissing you again if you return to my arms, and also..." Sunggyu paused, sighing, "When you're with me, you seem to forget about your real life outside of this house."

"That's ridiculous!" Woohyun said, but knew that it was true.

"Look, I don't want to ruin your relationship. Live a happy life without me in it, please."

"You're being stupid." Woohyun suddenly said, standing up. "I'll be back soon. See you then."
He approached the ladder he had used to climb up there and climbed down, hurriedly running out of Sunggyu's house.

Woohyun had half-expected Dongwoo to either be happy he came home, or a little worried since he was late again. What he didn't expect was for Dongwoo to be so angry.

"Who were you with? Tell me!" He yelled, which was definitely strange coming from Dongwoo.

"Calm down, Dongwoo. What's the matter?"
Dongwoo slapped a small box on Woohyun's chest. "Was it him? Is that man back in your life?"

"What are you talking about?" Woohyun wrapped his arms around Dongwoo who struggled and fought against the hug furiously until he let him go, disbelief written across his whole being.

"Make up your ing mind already." Dongwoo said calmly. "I thought we were past this, Woohyun. I guess I was wrong."

That shocked Woohyun even more, when Dongwoo stormed out of the apartment without another word, having already packed a bag before Woohyun's arrival. Dongwoo hated foul language, so he must have really been done with Woohyun if he cursed at him like that.
Woohyun fell to his knees and inspected the box in his hands. What had Dongwoo meant by 'him'? What had he meant when he said 'already', and 'past this'. What was he talking about? A key was on the side of the box. Woohyun turned it a couple of times before music started playing from inside it. A familiar tune. The same one he had heard six times earlier that day.

Woohyun sat the motionless for a while as he kept listening to that same melody, over and over.

For the next few days, Woohyun stayed home, refusing to go out for anything; even when he ran out of milk, he decided to drink coffee without it. The bitterness reminded him of Sunggyu who liked bitter coffee. Still he didn't understand what was so pleasant about it.
Dongwoo rang him one day, scoffing at the fact that Woohyun picked up for once.

"I miss you, please come home." Woohyun had quickly said to him but Dongwoo told him not to worry about him or miss him since he wasn't coming home. He also let him know that he was staying with Hoya. Woohyun had already figured that much.
Sungjong also rang him then, and asked him to come to work even though the restaurant was closed.

As soon as he made it there the next morning, Woohyun was hit on the head by Sungjong who complained about Woohyun costing him his most valued waiter. Dongwoo had quit his job at the restaurant, Woohyun figured. "What the hell did you do?"

"You know what he did, and it was only right." A voice spoke from behind Woohyun.
He was surprised to see the two men from TV, the so called cupids, Sungyeol and Myungsoo.

"Y-you're..."

"Real Cupids." Sungjong said. "Their job is to bring together two people who are too stupid to realise they belong together."

"We're here to fix things." Myungsoo stated coolly, nudging Sungyeol. "Go ahead."
Woohyun stared at them with furrowed brows. Were they there to fix his relationship with Dongwoo?

"I'm sorry. I'm to blame for your heartache." Sungyeol said quietely.

Woohyun raised a brow. "My heart isn't aching. I've come to realise Dongwoo is better off with Hoya anyway."

"Not about Dongwoo." The taller cupid looked down. "Last Christmas... I did something I have come to regret..."

"He thought you and Dongwoo looked perfect together, and used his newfound memory alteration power to set you two up. What he didn't consider was the heart of the man you were forced to leave as a result." Myungsoo added, "You can blame him for how badly things turned out for you recently."

"Hey, Woohyun is also to blame though! If he hadn't fallen into that pile of snow with that guy and acted adorable, prompting the guy to kiss him, then this would have never happened. Dongwoo would still be happily with Woohyun."

"But Hoya would still be hurting, and Sunggyu would be dead."

"What?" Woohyun was shocked by what he was hearing.

Things just got more and more confusing.

Myungsoo decided to speak up again since the pace was too slow and things needed to get done. He pointed to Woohyun's bag sitting on top of a table and asked for him to give it to him. He then took out the music box Dongwoo had given Woohyun before he left.

"This here, is something you should have received on your birthday last year, but Dongwoo hid it from you. It's from the person whose life Sungyeol stupidly tore you out of last Christmas. You know who it is. Think hard. Your heart should be back to normal by now, and so should your memories."

"What memories? You're not making any sense!"

"Oi. You two. I think Woohyun needs to be brought to that guy on a golden platter or else he won't even try to understand."

"Well then bring him yourself, I'm done here." Myungsoo shrugged, nodding for Sungyeol to follow him. Woohyun watched them, shell shocked, as they exited the restaurant. He turned to Sungjong who seemed to be gritting his teeth in annoyance.

"They call themselves cupids."

"Sungjong... Just tell me what's going on. Something about Sunggyu right?"

"Yeah. So would you please just go now? Run! It's your personal k-drama and you're the star of it, so make it dramatic." Sungjong waved his hands and urged him to leave the restaurant.

When Woohyun continued to stand there like a statue, Sungjong rolled his eyes and slapped a hand onto his forehead.
A bright light momentarily blinded Woohyun, until he noticed that the surroundings had changed. He was no longer in the empty restaurant with the two cupids and Jongie, but in a familiar dark and narrow hallway instead.

The ladder in front of him confirmed his immediate assumption, that it was indeed Sunggyu's place.
Or should I be calling it home instead? He wondered.

"Yes, you should." Sungjong's voice spoke behind Woohyun who was about to start climbing up the ladder. "See Woohyun, if you're worried about your memories and how they'll affect your relationship, then don't be. It'll all come back to you eventually."

"What about him? Does he know about me or are his memories also only from that night in the snow?"

"No. He knew all along, so don't worry. He'll know you're back to yourself. Now just go!"

When Woohyun turned around he found that he was alone again.
What the heck was Sungjong? A guardian angel or something?

Woohyun made his way up to the roof and found the man he was looking for, lying on the couch-turned-bed while gazing up at the stars. As he stepped closer he could hear him singing softly. "Everything that's left of us is fading away..."

"You sure about that?"

"Woohyun!"

"Hey babe, counting stars?"

Sunggyu tried to sit up, but Woohyun jumped on him, chuckling a bit. He couldn't hide his nervousness about the situation. It was more than a little awkward. How was he going to explain to Sunggyu he was finally home?

While hugging his side, he turned his gaze up to the sky and raised his hand, pretending to count the stars using his index finger. "One, two, three, four. Nope. I'd much rather be kissing you."

"How did you get in here?"

"Does it matter? It's my home too."

"Woohyun." Sunggyu struggled free of Woohyun's hug and sat up, staring down at the man he longed for. "Am I dreaming right now?"

"Is this a regular dream of yours? What happens next? I kiss you, and then?" He prompted, grinning wickedly as he placed his index finger on Sunggyu's lips and ran it down his neck before stopping at the collar of his shirt and pulling him down into a chaste kiss before speaking against his lips, "I can't believe I didn't suddenly remember everything back then, after falling into that pile of snow, about how much I love seeing you on top of me."

"Oh, thank god. It's really you." Sunggyu heaved a sigh of relief.

"Well then? How about showing me that dream. Might jog me some memories." Woohyun wiggled his eyebrows.

Sunggyu tilted his head, suddenly flashing a mischievous smile, "I can show you a lot more than that. The dreams were merely fragments."

"You know something?" Woohyun asked after a while, still lying on the bed on the roof with Sunggyu. Letting a mischievous smile play on his lips, Woohyun continued, "I dated an angel back when I was in highschool. I just didn't know it at the time."

Sunggyu furrowed his brows. "If you're trying to be cheesy or something, it's not working. You and I met in college."
Woohyun started laughing lightly, loving the confused expression on Sunggyu's face.

"I love that you thought the angel was you."

"It just sounded something you would say. I guess you're not completely back to yourself yet."

"No, no, no. I am. It's just funny." He chuckled, but seeing Sunggyu's slightly hurt expression, he felt a little bit guilty, "Actually, I was talking about my former boss. Remember I told you about him?"

"That so called 'cute little Demon boss' who fired you for being handsome?" Sunggyu asked, seeming highly uninterested in the conversation and keeping his gaze on the stars.

"Yep, him." Woohyun laughed again, snuggling against Sunggyu's side as if to re-assure him, "Come on. Don't be hurt, Sunggyu. You know I love you."

"That's all I needed to hear." Sunggyu smiled.

END.
AN: It's finally the end! I've never spent so much time on writing a oneshot. (I've also never written a oneshot with a 3000+ wordcount; this one's nearly 8000. Wowow?) I'm really sorry that this is so late, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway. I've changed and edited this so much I'm afraid I might have butchered the storyline, but I had already gone over the deadline and I had no choice but to stop writing. This is so late but I really hope you had a lovely Christmas! <3

StarlightSpirit: This was just... pure... amazing.. perfect... I am trying to find words here. That was /such/ a vague prompt and you turned it into this absolute masterpiece! I'm so in love with this piece! <3
