Chapter Thirty Three

'Baekhyun, stop walking around like that, would you? I'm getting dizzy.' Kris said for the tenth time as he buried his face in his palms. Baekhyun shot him a menacing glare before resuming to his pacing around, 'How can I not? What if she has some untreatable sort of disease? Oh gosh, I can't imagine it!' He mumbled.

Just then the doctor walked out of the ward with a nurse, alerting everyone, especially Baekhyun. 'H-how is she?' Baekhyun asked with trembling hands, 'Well, from what we found out, she's suffering from migraines. We'll need to have her in the hospital for a while more, for checkups and let her condition secure a little.' The people all heaved a sigh of relief, but Baekhyun's trembling didn't stop at all. 'Will it lead to death?'

'Well, no. Unless she has brain tumor or something that causes the migraine, that will lead to death. We did CAT scans on her, she's perfectly fine, so you don't have to worry too much.'

Baekhyun felt like a heavy rock had fell down, not clinging onto him anymore. The look of relief on his face was evidently plastered on. He thanked the doctor before proceeding into the ward where Seohyun was.

Her pale sickly face remains still yet so beautiful. He reached out to touch her pale cheek, everything flooded back.  If it wasn't for Taeyeon and Kai, she wouldn't have walked away, she wouldn't have fainted without me evening knowing in the first place. Most of all, she wouldn't even have headaches. Images of Seohyun having those awful headaches surfaced and he cringed, why didn't I notice this all along? I'm such an idiot! Baekhyun couldn't help but hit his head with the side of his palm.

'Let's go on a holiday trip!' Joonmyun suggested, pumping his fist up in the air childishly. Everyone around the table stopped their actions and stared at him as if he was some random hobo that came around. 'What?' He asked innocently as Kyungsoo started choking. 'Are you insane?' Kris asked him, throwing a spoon in his face.

'Hey! I'm not and I'm serious! We have a week of holiday, don't we? Well then, let's make use of it! It could maybe help us come up with an idea of how to write our song or something so yeah.' He said in a matter-of-fact tone. 'Great idea, hyung.' Sehun commented, making the older one beam in delight. 'Where should we go then?' Jessica asked, stuffing her face with the sandwich.

'My parents own a resort in Jeju Island, how about that?' Joonmyun suggested. 'As always, the rich grandpa. The thing is, are you paying or what?' Yixing joked before Joonmyun shot him a glare. 'I'll ask my mom if I can bring you guys there without charging.' He offered. 

Kris then remembered, 'Hey, do you guys want to ask Jongin? Or perhaps Taeyeon too?' All eyes turned to Seohyun who was busily texting on her phone. She felt the tense atmosphere and looked up, only to find all eyes on her. 'What?' She questioned, raising her eyebrow.

'Do you mind Kai and Taeyeon tagging along?' Kyungsoo asked, poking her cheek. 'Of course not, why would I be? I'm long over him already. So it's none of my business. At all.' She muttered, but somehow she felt her heart twitch, saying otherwise.

'So it's set, okay? We'll go tomorrow morning! And tell your parents that we'll come back a week later.' Joonmyun clapped excitedly and climbed out of his chair, 'Class is gonna start soon, you idiots. Get going.' He chirped before anyone could hit him.

Seohyun was grouped into a same presidential suite in which had 3 separate rooms, as Jessica and Tiffany, all of them were going to head down for a stroll along the beach exactly 5 minutes from now. Seohyun grabbed her phone and wallet, not forgetting their room key which, ironically, was a card.

The way Baekhyun's face lit up when he saw his goddess sashaying down the stairwell, everyone knew that he was undoubtedly, in love with Seohyun. And it's over head over heels in love. Chanyeol looked at Seohyun, then back at Baekhyun, then back at Seohyun again. He cringed. He doesn't want to fight with his best friend over a lover. But he had to do so. Because she meant too much to him that he can't not.

Chanyeol sulked. He was about to approach Seohyun to start a conversation, but Baekhyun was one step ahead of him. Baekhyun skipped happily to Seohyun, slinging an arm over Seohyun. He noticed that Seohyun's poker face immediately transformed into a bright and cheerful one. Soon after Tao noticed everyone was here, he asked Kris to start moving.

Chanyeol was walking behind and away from the large group. He tucked his hands in his pockets and watched Seohyun chuckling happily, because of Baekhyun's tall tales probably. A heavy sigh escaped his now pale lips, it was freezing outside.

'Christmas Eve is coming..' He mumbled to himself, a frown appearing. 'Should I ask her out? Or maybe Baekhyun already did..' His hopes were all dashed when he thought of that possibility. Not long after, they arrived at the long stretch of sand.

'You guys can go slack all you want, but tell me if you're gonna leave earlier or something. Don't get lost.' Joonmyun reminded once more as he pulled Tao along for a walk.

Seohyun's eyes darted around, she was of course, looking for someone. Who's that, you may ask? Well, it's none other than the dashing Kim Jongin. Seohyun couldn't forget about him. The pain, the aching, she just can bear to just let him go. After all the hard times they've went through together and he just goes off like that? No. She wasn't going to let him to.

He was the one who got her back from depression back then, he was the one who was always by her side when she needed help. That box. Full of their photoframes. She still kept it safely in her dwelling. She didn't want the memories just go to waste like that.

But her face fell when she caught sight of Jongin with Taeyeon, cuddling together. She used to do that with Jongin and she didn't want that to change. She wanted to be in his embrace which was warm and comfortable. She used to sip hot chocolate with Jongin while watching a Christmas movie, may it be Barbie or whatever. She used to exchage Christmas presents with Jongin and all. Enjoying their time together.

She wanted to spend every Christmas in her life with the one she loves. Kim Jongin. Yes, you read that right. She still loves Kim Jongin.

She looked away and continued listening to Baekhyun. A wave of remorse swept through her. Baekhyun was good to her. Sometimes, she feels her heart beating rapidly and wildly. She had also fell in love with Baekhyun, she guess. Chanyeol. She has that tingly feeling around Chanyeol too. Everytime he smiles at her, she would just go insane like she does with Baekhyun.

But her heart was still at Jongin's hands.

She couldn't help but sulk at Kai's actions. He was touching Taeyeon's stomach and seemingly talking to the unborn foetus. It should be her standing over there a few years later. That was all she thought about. 'Hey, Seohyun-ah. Are you okay? Why are you dazing out like that?' Baekhyun asked suspiciously. 'A-ah. Nothing. I'm hungry, Baekhyun-ah, can you go buy me something?' Seohyun asked.

'Will you be okay here, alone?' Baekhyun asked, glancing into her eyes. 'Yeah, I'll be. If you can't find me later, I'll probably be by the coast. Be safe.' She said, placing a chaste kiss on the corner of Baekhyun's lips, making him blush like mad.

His lips curved upwards and he grinned happily. He just nodded and untangled his laced fingers with Seohyun.

She let out a soft sigh, her mind was in a turmoil and she just wanted to clear everything out. She tucked her hands into her pockets of her jeans as she headed towards the sea. Chuckling at her silly friends who were playing tag and doing all sorts of silly stuff. Of course she saw Kai and Taeyeon sitting under a coconut tree, cuddling, again. She pouted and kicked the sand before reaching down onto the ground, playing with the sand too.

Her silly childish side surfaced. That was before she saw the sparkling thing on her fourth finger. Her face fell, she stopped fooling around and took a clear look at the ring. It was a couple ring made of silver. Given by Kai.

'Hey,' A husky and deep voice greeted from behind. She spun around, shocked. 'I'm sorry if I scared you or anything like that. Uhm, I just wanted to thank you for agreeing to help with my wedding plans and all.'

'Your welcomed,' She mumbled before turning around and preparing to go. She remembered the ring on her finger. Turning around, she saw Kai, too, preparing to go away. 'Wait!' She called out, pulling the sliver ring out of her finger. Kai turned around, puzzled.

'You can have this back.' She mumbled softly before taking once last glance at the words carved inside the precious ring. Jong ♡ Seo She didn't want to give it back to him but she had to, she wanted to live happily without him, forget him and all.

She opened Jongin's palm and felt the warmth of his hands, her hand trembled. She placed the ring back on his palm before turning to leave. Her tears were already b and falling out continuously. 'I miss you so much.. Kim Jongin.' Her voice cracked as she ran away.

Kai was dumbfounded. 'S-She didn't throw this away.. She kept it..' He mumbled to himself, still not believing what just happened. His devastation was turned into pure anger in a split second. He threw the ring onto the ground agrily and shouted in rage.

Seohyun quickly wiped away her tears with the sleeve of her jacket before Baekhyun could come back and catch her crying. She stopped her pace and sat down by the coast, watching the waters of the sea splashing. She breathed in deep and tried to clear away everything concerning Kai, but she just couldn't. Before she knew it herself, she started to sulk again.

Her lips started to shake and tears built up quickly, falling fast. She bent over and tried to it in to not make any noise but it hurts too much to hold it in so she let out a yelp and cry. Then comes the loss of breath which because not only is she crying out loud but she thinks she sounds dumb for not breathing too. It's simply just a mess.

'Seohyun-ah!' Baekhyun exclaimed as he placed everything he bought down on the ground before rushing towards a continuously sobbing Seohyun. 'W-what happened? Did Taeyeon bully you again?' He asked with an obvious hint of worry in his voice.

'B-Baekhyun,' She stuttered as he embraced her without hesitation. 'I don't know why.. but it hurts a lot. So much. I can't take it anymore.' She cried out, grabbing tightly onto Baekhyun's coat. 'Shh, it's going to be okay. I'm here, don't cry.' Baekhyun manage to say out, even though he knew the reason behind her tears were Kai, he wasted no time to comfort her.

But it hurt him too.
