CHAPTER 59

 

Kyuhyun was sitting on his chair while reading a newspaper when someone knocks on the door

 

“Please enter”

 

The door slowly opens and Kyuhyun stare at the man who is standing at the door, looking at him

 

“You’re late”

 

“Mianhae. I drop Narim to her ballet school”

 

Jongwoon smile at his cousin who is still reading the newspaper

 

“Shall we go now Kyu?”

 

“Five more minutes, I just need to read this article”

 

Jongwoon walks towards him and sits on his table

 

“Let me guess, you’re reading the news about the new company of Mr. Han?”

 

Kyuhyun look at him and raised his eyebrow

 

“Mr. Han? Since when did you call ba ba like that?”

 

Jongwoon flicked his cousin’s forehead

 

“Kyu, don’t forget that Mr. Han is no longer my father in law. I know that he will hit me if I call him ba ba”

 

Kyuhyun sigh and put down the newspaper

 

“How’s your meeting with him?”

 

Jongwoon grabs the picture of Key on the table and stare on it

 

“It’s a bit uncomfortable because of what happen a long time ago”

 

Jongwoon sigh

 

“But business is business and I need to deal with him again tomorrow”

 

“Do you have any plan in going to Shanghai?”

 

Jongwoon shook his head

 

“I haven’t been there for a long period of time. It’s been four years Kyu”

 

Kyuhyun steal the picture away from Jongwoon and put it on the table

 

“We need to go, I’m hungry”

 

“Honestly, why do you want to eat lunch with me?”

 

Kyuhyun smirk

 

“I miss you”

 

Jongwoon smile

 

“Yeah right”

 

Kyuhyun stand and grab his coat

 

“If you don’t want to go, then it’s fine”

 

“I’m just kidding”

 

“Let’s go”

 

Jongwoon nods and follow Kyuhyun outside. Jongwoon was driving his car quietly while Kyuhyun stares at him

 

“I never knew that you like me Kyu”

 

“What the are you talking about?”

 

Jongwoon stops the car when the stop light turns red. He looks at Kyuhyun and smile

 

“Why do you keep on staring at me?”

 

Kyuhyun cough

 

“Because I keep on noticing that you look so tired”

 

Jongwoon take his eyes away from him and start driving again

 

“Are you feeling well Jongwoon?”

 

Jongwoon nods without saying anything

 

“Maybe you’re stressing yourself too much”

 

“I’m busy working”

 

“But you’re not like that before”

 

“Don’t mind me Kyu. I can’t sleep properly at night”

 

“Nightmare?”

 

Jongwoon shook his head

 

“More than a nightmare”

 

Kyuhyun look at him curiously

 

“I always throw fight with Jessica”

 

“You also do that to Wookie”

 

Jongwoon became serious upon hearing his ex-wife’s name

 

“YAH! Can you please drop that subject?”

 

“I’m just telling y—“

 

“But she’s no longer my wife. Arasso”

 

Kyuhyun sigh and stare at the window as Jongwoon focus on his driving

 

 

 

 

 

 

“MAMA!!!”

 

Ryeowook came out of the kitchen and saw her little daughter crying while her little son is laughing. She walks towards them, Sulli hug her tight as she keeps on crying

 

“What happen baby?”

 

Sulli points her finger towards Henry

 

“Hengli shi wo mama zaici xinong” (Mama, Henry is teasing me again)

 

Ryeowook look at Henry who keeps on laughing

 

“Henry, how many times do I need to tell you not to tease your sister?”

 

The little boy smile at her

 

“Dan wo zhishi zai kaiwanxiao mama, ta de guoyu mingan” (But I’m just kidding Mama, she’s too sensitive)

 

Sulli looks at her mother

 

“Hengli gaosu wo, wok an qilai xiang ba ni” (Henry told me that I look like Barney)

 

Ryeowook smile at her daughter

 

“Of course that’s not true baby, you’re too beautiful to be Barney”

 

Henry laughs even louder while holding his tummy

 

“Mama, xiao Hengli” (Mama, Henry is laughing)

 

Ryeowook frown at her son

 

 “Henry, please stop laughing. There’s nothing funny about”

 

“Mianhae mama, but Sulli looks cute when she cries”

 

Henry smile and walks towards his mother and sit on her lap while facing Sulli

 

“Mianhae Sulli, I’m just kidding”

 

Sulli pouts

 

“You are beautiful like mama and mama Cinderella”

 

“Because I’m also Cinderella”

 

Henry holds his sister’s lips

 

“Shhh... if mama Cinderella hears you, she will turn to an evil witch because she never allow other girls to steal the Cinderella title to her”

 

“But I like Cinderella too”

 

Henry shook his head and smile at her

 

“But you are the Princess Frog”

 

“YAH!”

 

Sulli frowns at him

 

“Henry, stop teasing your sister, please”

 

Henry smile at Ryeowook

 

“Arasso mama”

 

Sulli look at her brother and stuck her tongue out

 

“Mama, look what Sulli did”

 

Ryeowook sigh and look at her twins

 

“Ok. Let’s put it this way, if both of you will not behave properly and will be naughty, we will not go in Disneyland this Saturday, do you understand me?”

 

Sulli and Henry look at each other and stare at their mother with puppy eyes

 

“Mama, please don’t be so cruel. Sulli and I will behave now and I won’t anymore”

 

“Mama, please don’t cancel our Disneyland trip this Saturday”

 

“We really want to go there, right Sulli?”

 

Sulli nods, Ryeowook smile and hug them

 

“Your puppy eyes always work to me, so cute”

 

Henry and Sulli smile brightly

 

“So, it means that you’re not cancelling it?”

 

Ryeowook nods, Henry and Sulli hug her tight

 

“Xie xei mama”

 

“But you need to promise me that you will behave and will listen to me all the time”

 

Henry and Sulli nod happily

 

“Mama, are we going with Uncle Bummie?”

 

Ryeowook nod

 

“Yes”

 

“He will be here on Saturday?”

 

“Bummie will arrive on Friday”

 

Henry and Sulli clap their hands as they smile brightly

 

“That will be nice”

 

“Mama, when are we going to see ba ba?”

 

Ryeowook suddenly fell silent as she stares at her twins who are waiting for her answer

 

“Henry, we already talk about it right?”

 

Henry nod

 

“Yes Mama”

 

“You and Sulli know very well that ba ba and mama are no longer living together because…”

 

“Because?”

 

Ryeowook sigh, Henry’s eyes widened as he looks at his mother

 

“Mama, do you smell something?”

 

Ryeowook stare at them

 

“OMO!!! I forgot the cupcakes, it’s burning”

 

Henry stares at her with wide eyes open

 

“No way our precious cupcake. Please save it mama”

 

“It’s burning Oppa”

 

Ryeowook put down her twins and immediately run to the kitchen

 

“Sulli, let’s follow mama and see what happen to our precious cupcakes”

 

Sulli stare at her twin brother

 

“I hope mama can save it or else we can’t eat cupcakes today. It’s so sad, I love cupcakes”

 

Henry holds his sister’s hand as they run together at the kitchen

 

 

 

 

“So why did you throw a fight with Jessica?”

 

Kyuhyun break the silence as they eat their lunch together. Jongwoon look at him and sigh

 

“She’s not a good wife and such a head ache”

 

Kyuhyun smirk

 

“Is that new?”

 

“She can’t even cook for me and take care of our daughter properly. She’s very dependent to our helpers and she doesn’t even know a single household chores. She’s always out at night, partying with her friends, leaving our daughter to her nannies”

 

“That’s really the job of nannies”

 

“But Wookie is no—“

 

Jongwoon suddenly stop talking and stare at the window

 

“Then you talk to Jessica”

 

Jongwoon shook his head

 

“She don’t even listen to me”

 

Jongwoon told him while staring at the window

 

“She goes home at five in the morning. I’m already sleeping at that time, when I wake up to go to work, she’s sleeping and when I go home she’s not there. I often see her at home and I feel so sad towards Narim because Jessica doesn’t even care about her”

 

“Who takes care of the kid?”

 

Kyuhyun asked him curiously

 

“Me, I drop her to school then her driver will just fetch her. We go out every Sunday with or without her mom and if I am busy, her nannies will take charge and if her mother is in good mood, she’s the one who takes care of Narim”

 

“What a very chaotic family”

 

Jongwoon stare at him with teary eyes

 

“I’m just kidding Jongwoon-ah, don’t cry”

 

“Pabo. I’m not going to cry”

 

Jongwoon return to his food and continue eating. There is silence again, Kyuhyun try to break it but no words came out from his mouth. He can’t think of a good topic that they can discuss to each other.

 

“How’s Wookie?”

 

Kyuhyun’s eyes widened while staring at him

 

“Do you miss her?”

 

Jongwoon didn’t answer; Kyuhyun takes a deep breath before talking

 

“Wookie is fine”

 

“It’s been four years and I haven’t seen her yet. Each night I think about her, and keep on wondering how she is right now”

 

Kyuhyun can see a strong sadness on Jongwoon’s face. He was staring at Kyuhyun, controlling his tears from falling

 

“It’s been four years Kyu and I miss her so much. When I came home every night, I keep on wishing to see her sitting on her study table doing something while waiting for me…I miss her talking her alien language when she’s mad at me, her tears and smile. Her beautiful face and her lips; I miss her taking care of me, disturbing me like a child. It’s been four years Kyu, since I left her. Four years that I’m living my life without her, it’s been four years that I’m crying every night and blaming myself for letting her go and for doing a stupid mistake. It’s been four years Kyu, I keep on regretting that I let go of the girl that I love most and I know that I can no longer bring her back again”

 

Jongwoon bows his head, Kyuhyun stare at his cousin sadly

 

“Jongwoon-ah, I’m really sorry but she’s get—“

 

Kyuhyun was cut by the sound of his phone. It was Sungmin, calling him

 

“Excuse for awhile, I need to answer the phone”

 

Jongwoon nods, still keeping his head low. Kyuhyun went out to answer the call

 

“Yes baby”

 

“Where are you?”

 

“I’m eating my lunch with my friend”

 

“Can you fetch Key later? I just need to stay in the office and finish an article and I have a meeting with the design department, it’s an emergency”

 

Kyuhyun nod

 

“Arasso, what time are you going home?”

 

“I’ll be home before dinner”

 

“Ok, anything else?”

 

“Did mama already inform you that we need to fly in Beijing next week for Li xu’s wedding rehearsal?”

 

“Yes and Aunt Teukie also reminds me about it”

 

“I’ll see you at home later. I love you baby”

 

“I love you too and please don’t tire yourself too much”

 

“Arasso”

 

Kyuhyun hang up and go back inside

 

“It’s Minnie, asking me if I could fetch Key later. She needs to attend an important meeting later”

 

Jongwoon smile

 

“How’s Minnie?”

 

“She’s a bit busy with her work, but she always finds time with Key and with me”

 

“That’s nice, how about my nephew?”

 

Kyuhyun smile brightly

 

“Key is so naughty”

 

Jongwoon smile

 

“Like you?”

 

Kyuhyuns smirk

 

“I am not naughty when I was a kid like him”

 

“I stand corrected, I mean evil not naughty”

 

“YAH!”

 

Kyuhyun smile at him

 

“Anyway you should visit us sometimes”

 

“I really love to, but Minnie is still mad at me”

 

“Just don’t mind her; everything will be fine as time goes by”

 

“I hope so”

 

Jongwoon look at his watch

 

“Kyu, I’m sorry but I need to go now. I still need to fetch Narim in her ballet school”

 

“I understand, hope to see you again”

 

“I’ll pay, it’s my treat today”

 

“I will freely accept it”

 

Jongwoon smile and salute at him. He pays the bill and waves his hand towards his cousin before leaving

 

 

 

 

Henry and Sulli were playing Nintendo Wii after taking a warm bubble bath. Ryeowook came in to there room after finishing her school works

 

“It’s time for bed my babies”

 

Sulli stare at her mom while pouting

 

“It’s still early mama”

 

Ryeowook sit on their bed

 

“It’s already eight in the evening, you still have class tomorrow”

 

Henry frowns

 

“Can we just skip school tomorrow?”

 

Ryeowook frown at him

 

“No baby, skipping class is a big no no and you still have violin class tomorrow after your school”

 

“I know”

 

Ryeowook turn off the Nintendo Wii and the TV

 

“You can play longer during Friday after doing your homeworks and studying your lessons”

 

Henry and Sulli nods

 

“Let’s go to sleep now”

 

Sulli smile at her

 

“Mama, can we sleep with you tonight?”

 

 “Sure, I’ll sleep here tonight”

 

Sulli claps her hands and jump on the bed. Henry follows her and gives their mother a big book. Ryeowook smile while staring at Henry

 

“Baby, this is not a story book”

 

Henry pouts

 

“But I want you to read me that book. It’s about Beethoven and I want to be like him when I grow up”

 

“Beethoven is not a violinist Henry”

 

“It’s ok; I’ll be a good musician like him and of course like you mama”

 

Ryeowook smiles, Sulli grab the thick book away from their mother and give her a book about business

 

“Mama, you read this to me”

 

Ryeowook hold her forehead while staring at her daughter

 

“Sulli baby, where did you get this?”

 

Sulli smile at her mother before answering her

 

“Ba ba Hannie left it last week on the table. I saw him reading that book before he goes to his office”

 

“Baby, you suppose to return this to ba ba. He’s already looking for this book”

 

Sulli frowns

 

“You read it first to me”

 

“Oh my gosh Sulli, you’re just a four year old girl, so you won’t understand this book and beside since when did you find some interest in business?”

 

Sulli stare at her closer

 

“I always watch ba ba Hannie doing his work in his office or at the living room. I think he’s having fun though he looks so serious while doing his work. And he always read that book, and it makes me so curious why ba ba Hannie loves to read it”

 

 “Because this book is all about business”

 

Ryeowook put the books on the table and grab a story book on the bookshelf and return to the bed

 

“We’re going to have adventure with Alice as she travel around the Wonderland”

 

Henry frowns

 

“Why are you frowning baby?”

 

“Alice in the Wonderland? It only suits Sulli because that story is for girls, why not make it Henry in the Wonderland?”

 

Ryeowook take a deep breath while looking at her twins who are smiling at each other

 

“Aish! My kids are like mama, so weird”

 

Ryeowook return the book on the bookshelf then return to the bed and sit. Sulli and Henry crawl towards her and lay besides her, making Ryeowook in between them. She hugs her twins and kissed their forehead

 

“Mama, can I ask something?”

 

“Yes Henry”

 

“It’s about ba ba”

 

Ryeowook look at them sadly

 

“What about him?”

 

“When are we going to see him?”

 

“I wonder how ba ba looks like; we haven’t seen him since birth”

 

Ryeowook gets the picture on the table as her twins stare on it

 

“This is how your ba ba looks like”

 

Sulli and Henry smile

 

“Is that really ba ba?”

 

“Of course baby”

 

“He looks so handsome mama, just like Henry”

 

Henry smile brightly, Ryeowook pinch his cheek

 

“You’re so confident Henry”

 

Henry giggles happily

 

“Of course I am handsome like ba ba”

 

“That’s right baby”

 

Sulli hugs the picture of Jongwoon

 

“So, when can we meet him mama?”

 

She asked her mother curiously

 

“I don’t know”

 

“Can we ask uncle about it? He’s the brother of ba ba right?”

 

Ryeowook take a deep breath and hold her twins closer to her

 

“Listen to me babies. I’m going to talk about it with Bummie first, and of course we need to consult mama, ba ba, Umma, Appa and nai nai first”

 

Her twins stare at her sadly

 

“But we want to see ba ba”

 

Ryeowook nod

 

“I know, just give me some time ok”

 

“Then when are we going to see him?”

 

“I still don’t know”

 

Henry and Sulli sigh

 

“When we wake up tomorrow morning, we can see him? Ba ba will be here tomorrow right?”

 

Ryeowook stares at them sadly

 

“Henry, Sulli, you know very well that your father left us. I don’t even know how he is right now, because we really don’t have any communication”

 

Henry frown

 

“But mama, we want to see ba ba now”

 

“Why are you so demanding Henry?”

 

“Sulli wants to see him too, right?”

 

Sulli nod at her brother

 

“Yes”

 

Ryeowook take a deep breath

 

“I’m asking for your understanding ok; let me have some more time before you see Jongwoon”

 

The twins just nod at her

 

“I know that it’s hard growing without seeing your father, but please understand me. It’s also hard for me, but I can’t hide you the truth. It’s good that you know what happen to us than blaming me later on”

 

Ryeowook hold their face and smile

 

“Your father is really a loving person and he love us so much”

 

“Then why did he left us?”

 

“Because of a misunderstanding between us that he fell out of love with me, and he needs to take care other family”

 

Sulli and Henry start crying

 

“That’s why I don’t want to tell more about your father because you’ll just end up crying, and it breaks my heart”

 

Ryeowook calm her twins

 

“Just always keep in mind that your father loves you so much and he is a great husband and of course a father. He may not be always around and not here to take care of you, but in a far away distance I know and can feel his love for both of you. Please stop crying, or mama will end up crying too”

 

Ryeowook wipe their tears and hug them tight

 

“Do not hate your father for leaving us. He didn’t want to leave us, he just need to do it. I’m really sorry if I can’t let you see him for the meantime, we will arrive there. Please ne patience and understand me. I’m not yet ready to see him again and I know that I am being selfish for not letting you see him, but I hope you will understand me”

 

Henry and Sulli nod

 

“I love you so much Sulli and Henry and I will do everything for you. I try to be a good mother and at the same time a good father, to raise both of you very well. I’m sorry if I fail to give you a complete family, but I try my best to make it work between me and your father. We really can’t save it, but I promise you that you will see him, but not now. Just give me more time to fully forget everything ok”

 

“Yes mama”

 

“We understand you and we love you so much, right Sulli?”

 

“Yes Henry”

 

Ryeowook smile and kissed their cheek

 

“It’s time for bed now”

 

“Good night mama. I love you”

 

“Good night mama and Henry, I love both of you”

 

Henry and Sulli kissed their mother then their father’s picture

 

“Sulli and I love you too ba ba, so don’t be jealous”

 

Ryeowook sing a sweet lullaby to her twins as they sleep peacefully on their mother’s arm. When her twins are already sleeping peacefully, she grabs Jongwoon’s picture on Sulli’s hand and stare on it

 

“Did you see all the pain that you left? It’s not only me who are suffering right now, but also your kids. I really don’t know what to do whenever they ask me to let them see you. All I can say to them is, I don’t know but you will surely meet them. Not now, maybe after my wedding”

 

Ryeowook put his picture on the table and hug her twins tight, joining them in dreamland
