CHAPTER 16

 

 

Ryeowook was staring on her food blankly

 

“Baby, you don’t like the food?”

 

Teukie ask her sadly; Heechul try to feed her, but Ryeowook didn’t want to open and eat

 

“Are you alright honey?”

 

Ryeowook shook her head, still staring at her food. Teukie and Heechul hug each other while smiling brightly.

 

“Chullie, finally our daughter is pregnant”

 

“OMO, it feels so great to have a grandchild”

 

Ryeowook look at them sadly

 

“I’m not pregnant ok”

 

Teukie and Heechul’s bright smile suddenly vanish upon hearing the bad news. Heechul hold her daughter’s face

 

“Then why are you acting like that? What’s wrong?”

 

Ryeowook look at them sadly, controlling her tears from falling

 

“Jongwoon left the condominium, and it’s been one week, but he’s still not back”

 

Teukie’s eyes widened

 

“What?”

 

“We fought and he told me that he’ll sleep with Taeyeon”

 

“Oh please…”

 

Teukie hold her forehead while shaking her head, can’t believe what she heard from her daughter in law. She can’t look at Heechul because she’s so embarrass upon her son’s action. She holds Ryeowook’s hand

 

“Mianhae baby, I’ll talk to him and try my best to bring him home”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“Umma, it’s not your fault and don’t worry too much, ok? It’s our problem and it’s a usual thing between husband and wife to fight, so just let us fix it”

 

“But Wookie”

 

“Umma, Jongwoon is my husband and it’s between us”

 

Heechul sigh

 

“Teukie and I are just worried about you and Jongwoon”

 

“I know Mama, but please don’t worry too much because we’re going to fix it”

 

“Are you sure that you’re fine honey?”

 

Ryeowook smile weakly and nods at them

 

 

 

 

 

Ryeowook was busy doing her homework when Jongwoon arrive; he lay on the sofa weakly, Ryeowook walk towards him.

 

“We need to talk”

 

Jongwoon ignores her

 

“YAH! I told you that we need to talk. Get up”

 

Jongwoon remains lying on the sofa while his eyes are closed. Ryeowook pulls his arm

 

“I tol—“

 

Ryeowook stare at him and touch his forehead

 

“You’re burning, are you ok?”

 

Jongwoon shook his head; Ryeowook gets the thermometer and chek his temperature

 

“OMO, 40 degree; that’s too much”

 

Ryeowook went downstairs to get a glass of water and get the medicine in the medicine cabinet and grab banana at the kitchen. She put water on the basin and gets a towel inside the cabinet. She helps Jongwoon to sit so he can drink the medicine.

 

“Drink your medicine so you’ll feel better, and eat this banana”

 

Ryeowook hand him the banana

 

“I don’t want to eat. It’s really cold, my body is aching”

 

Ryeowook tear it into half and feed Jongwoon. He bites it gently and manages to eat half of it. He drinks the medicine and lay on the sofa

 

“You want me to call the doctor?”

 

Jongwoon shook his head. Ryeowook start to cry, she feels so nervous and worried at the same time

 

“Where have you been? Why do you catch high fever?”

 

“I’m not going to die so, don’t cry because your voice cracks. Just shut up and let me rest, and please stop asking too many questions”

 

Ryeowook place the towel on his forehead

 

“I feel so cold alien”

 

“Do you want to sleep on the bed?”

 

“If you can carry me then go ahead”

 

Ryeowook try to carry him but she can’t because Jongwoon is really heavy for her.

 

“Just let me sleep here on the sofa, I can’t walk anymore”

 

Ryeowook grab a thick blanket and put it around him. She sits beside Jongwoon, watching him with worried face. She holds his hands and keeps on checking his temperature.

 

“It didn’t change at all, what should I do now?”

 

Ryeowook wipes her tears and lay on top of Jongwoon. She hugs him tight and covers their body with the thick blanket.

 

“I hope this can help you”

 

Ryeowook lay on his chest while hugging him as they sleep together

 

 

 

 

Jongwoon wake up early in the morning; he feels someone lying on top of him, he looks down and was shock to see Ryeowook sleeping peacefully on his body. He her long hair carefully and touches her lips gently. Ryeowook moves a little so Jongwoon close his eyes again pretending to sleep. Ryeowook touch his forehead to check his temperature.

 

“At least he’s not that hot anymore”

 

Ryeowook stare at his lovely face closer. She holds his cheek and smile while she touches his soft lips. Ryeowook wants to kiss him, but she’s avoiding to wake her husband. Jongwoon hold Ryeowook’s hand and slowly open his eyes, and see his beautiful wife staring closer at him. So close that he can kiss her lips anytime.

 

“You’re heavy”

 

“Mianhae”

 

Ryeowook immediately stand

 

“Are you feeling ok?”

 

Jongwoon pulls the blanket on his body and pretend to be cold

 

“OMO, you’re chilling, I’ll call the doctor now”

 

Ryeowook was about to grab the telephone, but Jongwoon grab her hand and pull her towards him

 

“Just stay here with me and hug me; that will feel better”

 

Ryeowook pinch his nose

 

“ert”

 

She stands and went downstairs to cook porridge for Jongwoon. Jongwoon sigh and scratch his head

 

“Kim Jongwoon you lose again, that alien girl is really playing hard to get”

 

 

 

Ryeowook was busy preparing the table when Jongwoon came in the dining room,he holds her waist and kiss her cheek

 

“Get away from me”

 

Ryeowook run at the corner staring at him blankly

 

“Fine, mianhae”

 

Jongwoon sit on the table and stare at her still standing at the corner

 

“I’m not going to do anything babe”

 

“Are you sure?”

 

“Yes I am”

 

Ryeowook sit beside him and feed him quietly

 

“I’m going to work now”

 

“But you still need to rest”

 

“I have schedules to finish”

 

“Are you sure you can go to work today?”

 

Jongwoon nod and push the plate away from him

 

“You need to eat all of this”

 

“I don’t have appetite and besides it doesn’t taste good”

 

Jongwoon stand and grab his car key

 

“Do you want me to drop you?”

 

“I can drive, and you still need to go to school don’t you forget that”

 

“Of course I will. Bummie and I will practice for the school festival later. You’re coming right?”

 

Jongwoon shook his head

 

“No”

 

Ryeowook bow her head sadly

 

“I’ll go now”

 

“The festival will start at six in the evening, please drop by if you have time”

 

“I have a date with Taeyeon”

 

“Just drop by, Bummie and I will be playing last and he’s solo will be the opening, and I’ll be playing my solo too. Maybe I’m the 5^th to perform”

 

“I don’t care, I’m not coming ok”

 

Jongwoon salute at her and leave

 

 

 

 

 

Ryeowook keeps on looking at the crowd who start arriving one by one. She looks at her watch; the program will start after 15 minutes.

 

“Why do you keep on looking at the crowd? Do you expect a special guest sweetie pie?”

 

Ryeowook look at Kibum

 

“Hyung will come, right?”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“You want me to call him?”

 

She shook her head and smile weakly; Sungmin and Kyuhyun came running and she hugs her sister tight

 

“We’re going to watch you and Bummie”

 

Sungmin smile brightly; Kyuhyun flick his cousin’s nose

 

“Please perform well, or I’ll melt because of embarrassment”

 

Kibum smile

 

“Of course I will give all my best. I practice the whole week as in 24/7. Where are Umma and Appa?”

 

“Still working”

 

Kibum’s smile suddenly vanished

 

“I see, so they are not going to watch?”

 

Kyuhyun pat his head

 

“Don’t be sad Bummie, I’m here to watch you; I am the representative of aunt Teukie and uncle Kangin”

 

Kibum frown

 

“You don’t want me to watch you?”

 

“It’s not like that Hyung, but I’m expecting Umma and Appa to be here also”

 

“Aunt Teukie told me before she left for work to cheer you up, because she’s not going to be here to watch you. She had lots of business meetings to attend and she can’t cancel it, but she promise to treat you tomorrow, so you need to do well. Uncle Kangin wants to tell you that he’s so sorry because he can’t come, he wants you to do well and they love you.”

 

Kibum smile

 

“I’ll forgive them today”

 

“I’ll record the whole event because aunt Teukie told me to do so; so she can at least watch you”

 

Kyuhyun smile at him while holding the video camera. Sungmin smile at Kibum and stare at her sister who keeps on looking around as if she was waiting for someone

 

“Sweetheart, can you please calm down. By the way mama and ba ba can’t watch you because mama needs to stay at the laboratory with uncle Kangin; they need to study certain specie and ba ba needs to attend business meetings with aunt Teukie”

 

Ryeowook ignores her

 

“I’m talking to you sweetheart, what’s wrong with you?”

 

Ryeowook looks at her sadly

 

“Jongwoon is coming, right?”

 

Ryeowook shook her head; Sungmin looks at Kyuhyun

 

“Don’t worry he will be here”

 

Kyuhyun hugs her

 

“I know he will come”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“Gege, he told me that he won’t be coming because he had a date with Taeyeon”

 

Kyuhyun’s eyes widened

 

“What? That girl is more important than you? Aish, what the hell is that? I’ll kill Jongwoon is ever I saw him”

 

Ryeowook smile weakly as tears run to her eyes; Sungmin wipes it away and hug her sweetly

 

“Don’t cry, just be on stage and perform your best, arasso?”

 

“But I wish my husband will be here to watch me”

 

Sungmin sigh

 

“Don’t worry too much; if he will not come to watch your performance, then it’s his loss. Kyu and I are here to watch you and Bummie, and the people are there watching you, so please smile and be the best”

 

Sungmin kiss her cheek. Professor Hyukkie drags them inside because the program will start in five minutes. Sungmin and Kyuhyun wave at them while smiling, and join the crowd as the celebration begins.

 

 

 

Sungmin and Kyuhyun were happily sitting together while recording the event on their video camera when someone stands beside Sungmin, holding a very beautiful boquet of flowers.

 

“I’m late, I thought the venue will be at the auditorium, but why is it on the field? Is this some kind of an open concert?”

 

Sungmin’s eyes widened as she stares at him, Kyuhyun stare at his cousin blankly

 

“I’m not a ghost, so don’t look at me like that”

 

Jongwoon sit beside Sungmin who keeps on staring at him. Still can’t believe that he came to watch the festival.

 

“Minnie, please stop staring at me, it feels so akward you know”

 

Kyuhyun reach for him and pat his back

 

“I thought you have a date with Taeyeon?”

 

Jongwoon nod

 

“I left early to watch my alien babe”

 

Kyuhyun raised his eyebrow

 

“Alien what?”

 

Jongwoon smile

 

“It’s nothing, just a form of endearment.”

 

Sungmin smile at him

 

“I’m sure Li xu will be happy if she sees you”

 

Jongwoon look at her and raise his eyebrow

 

“Who is Li xu?”

 

“It’s Wookie, that’s her Chinese name, stupid”

 

“Come on Minnie, can you please stop talking Mandarin, you’re like that alien who keeps on talking Mandarin whenever she wants, and laughs at me because I can’t understand her”

 

“Mianhae Jongwoonie. What makes you come here?”

 

“Because I want to watch my alien babe performing live, and it’s my payment because I owe her”

 

Sungmin stare at him curiously

 

“Owe her what?”

 

Jongwoon smile sweetly

 

“She takes care of me all night because I catch a fever”

 

“How sweet”

 

“Shhhh, be quiet”

 

Sungmin smile brightly while watching the show. It was Ryeowook’s turn to perform her solo; she’ll be playing Endless Story by Yuna Ito and at the same time she’ll sing. Ryeowook try to smile brightly, still looking for someone at the crowd, she take a bow before sitting on the piano. Jongwoon immediately grab his video camera and stand on the wooden bench as he shouts so loud

 

“KIM RYEOWOOK!!!! OVER HERE!!!”

 

Jongwoon wave his hand happily; Sungmin and Kyuhyun look at him with wide eyes open. Kyuhyun pulls him, but Jongwoon insist that he needs to stand; the people are already staring at them, some girls start to giggle and blush upon recognizing the handsome man standing on the wooden bench while smiling so brightly.

 

“GO MY ALIEN BABE, FIGHTING!!!!!! EVERYONE, SHE’S MY WIFE, AND I’M HERE TO WATCH HER. GO BABE!!!”

 

Ryeowook stare at him blankly; Kibum was laughing from a far distance while watching his brother; Sungmin keeps her head low, hiding her face from the crowd. Kyuhyun looks at Jongwoon seriously. Jongwoon smile brightly and realize that all eyes are focused on him, he wave his hand and smile weakly before sitting on the bench.

 

“I’m so embarrass”

 

Sungmin look at Kyuhun

 

“Do you know this guy sitting with us baby?”

 

Kyuhyun shook his head

 

“I don’t know, maybe he’s some sort of an alien or monster that pops out from nowhere”

 

Jongwoon pat Kyuhyun’s shoulder while smiling

 

“Yah! Don’t try to deny me now”

 

“Aish! Just sit and watch ok. You’re so weird for shouting so loud and standing on the bench”

 

“Mianhae, I am just so happy and excited at the same time”

 

Sungmin poke him

 

“Shhh, Li xu shall start now so just listen and be quiet”

 

Jongwoon nods and focus his attention at his wife who starts playing the piano while singing. Jongwoon was holding his camera tight recording every single thing that she’s doing. He watches Ryeowook full of love and happiness. Jongwoon close his eyes while listening to her lovely voice; it seems that he’s in heaven and an angel was singing in front of her; Ryeowook’s sweet angelic voice makes Jongwoon fall for her more, and the lovely tune of the piano makes his heart jump because of happiness; and on that very moment, Jongwoon was sure about his feeling towards her; he knew that he’s really falling for her and that he love Ryeowook, and he’s sure of that. Jongwoon open his eyes and see her lovely face smiling at him, he knew that Ryeowook was looking at him though he’s far from her. Ryeowook take her bow before leaving the stage with a bright smile on her face.

 

 

 

 

After the program Sungmin drags Kyuhyun and Jongwoon with her, and went at the backstage to congratulate Kibum and Ryeowook for such a lovely performance. Ryeowook run towards her sister and give her a big hug.

 

“Congratulation Li xu, you’re so lovely up there and you perform well. Mama he ba ba will regret it for not coming here tonight because they missed the extravagant performance of their baby.”

 

“Thanks Unnie”

 

Sungmin kiss her forehead

 

“Sweetheart, you’re really the best pianist in the whole Korea and of course Bummie is the best cellist in the whole Korea, right Bummie dear?”

 

Kibum nods at her while flashing his killer smile. He walks towards his brother and smile brightly

 

“Hey Hyung, you had the best performance out there”

 

Sungmin and Kyuhyun laugh while watching Jongwoon blush because of embarrassment.

 

“You don’t need to remind me of that Bummie”

 

“I’m just telling you; you really can win a best actor award”

 

“YAH! KIM KIBUM!”

 

“But I’m happy to see you here”

 

Kibum gives him a warm hug

 

“It’s my first time watching you perform”

 

“Because you’re always busy with your girls”

 

Kibum stuck his tongue out and walk towards Ryeowook. He smiles at her and they hug each other

 

“We’re so great sweetie pie”

 

“Yes, I’m sure Professor Hyukkie will love us more”

 

“Daebak”

 

Jongwoon pull Kibum away from her

 

“What the hell is going on here?”

 

“Hyung, I’m just congratulating my sweetie pie for a job well done”

 

Jongwoon raise his eyebrow

 

“Sweetie what?”

 

“That’s your wife, silly”

 

Jongwoon flick his brother’s forehead

 

“I see, mind you, that alien is not as sweet as you think”

 

“Talk to the hand and mind your own business”

 

Kibum smile at Ryeowook before leaving with Sungmin and Kyuhyun. Jongwoon look at her

 

“I thought you’re not coming because you have a date with your manager?”

 

“I left early just to watch you”

 

“Thanks”

 

Jongwoon smirk and look at her closer

 

“I didn’t know that an alien like you knows how to play the piano and sing, but it was a disaster. My ears ache while listening to you; honestly, I want to throw some tomatoes at the stage to chase you away”

 

Ryeowook frown

 

“But still, thank you for coming”

 

Ryeowook was about to leave to follow Sungmin, Kibum and Kyuhyun, but Jongwoon pull her into a hug.

 

“But to tell you the truth, that was an awesome performance. I love it, and I’m proud that you’re my alien babe”

 

Ryeowook smile as she hugs him

 

“Thanks”

 

Jongwoon give her the bouquet of flower that he was holding; Ryeowook smile at them

 

“I love it”

 

“You need to; it took me an hour and a half, choosing what flowers to give you”

 

“Anything will do as long as it came from you”

 

Jongwoon hold her hand and whisper

 

“I’m hungry now, let’s follow them?”

 

Ryeowook nod at him while smiling so bright.
