CHAPTER 42

 

Kibum and Ryeowook were walking on the hallway when a group of people surrounds them

 

“Ms. Han, is it true that you and Jongwoon are over now?”

 

Ryeowook stare at them blankly, Kibum recognize one of the papparazzis who loves to stalk and write every single thing that Jongwoon is doing.

 

“Is it true that you’re cheating on him? That you already move out of your house and live with your other man?”

 

Ryeowook’s tears start forming in her eyes as she stares at the press people

 

“Why do you choose to be silent? Does it mean that the rumors are all true?”

 

Kibum grab her wrist

 

“We need to get out of here Wookie, we need to run now”

 

Ryeowook nods at him

 

“At the count of three…1, 2, 3”

 

Kibum and Ryeowook run together, the press people chase them.

 

“Bummie, they are still following us”

 

“Just hold on to my hand and don’t ever let go, we need to run from them”

 

“I’m tired”

 

Ryeowook stop and breathe hard

 

“Wookie, we need to go or else they will catch you”

 

Ryeowook removes her tip toe shoes and takes a deep breath

 

“I’m going to carry you if you want”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“No need Bummie. I’m fine”

 

Kibum grab his phone to call Jongwoon, but he is interrupted when Ryeowook moves closer towards him and holds his arm tight

 

“Bummie, I think we’re in trouble now”

 

Kibum’s eyes widened as he look around, seeing a lot of media surrounding their school

 

“I can’t believe that the security let them enter the campus, so stupid”

 

Ryeowook look at him nervously

 

“What shall we do? They are coming”

 

“We need to hide”

 

Ryeowook grab her phone inside her bag

 

“I’m going to call ba ba for help”

 

But before she can dial her father’s number, Kibum drags her. They start running again and went inside an empty classroom and locked the door as the press start knocking, trying all their best to interview Ryeowook

 

“Yeoboseo”

 

“Hyung, you need to go here now”

 

Jongwoon can hear noises

 

“Where are you? It seems so noisy out there”

 

Kibum breaths hard

 

“I’m in school right now. Wookie needs you”

 

“Why?”

 

“YAH! She’s in trouble right now; we lock ourselves inside an empty classroom because the press people keep on chasing her”

 

Jongwoon’s eyes widened

 

“What?”

 

“You need to be here now”

 

“Ok”

 

Kibum stare at Ryeowook who is sitting at the corner while staring at the door blankly

 

“Wookie, are you ok?”

 

Ryeowook shook her head, still looking at the door

 

“Why are they chasing me? Why are they thinking that I’m cheating with my husband? That’s not true”

 

Ryeowook’s tears start falling, Kibum sigh and give her his handkerchief

 

“Wipe your tears; it’s not good that the press see you crying. They will think that you’re guilty and they will make another rumor about you and Hyung. If it’s not a crime to kill, I’m going to kill those people who can’t respect privacy. They are really a head ache and they only bring trouble”

 

“How are we supposed to attend our next class?”

 

Kibum sits beside her and sigh

 

“I don’t know, I am so curious who let those people get inside our school premises”

 

“Bummie, I’m scared”

 

Kibum give her a hug

 

“You don’t need to be scared; Hyung will be here any minute”

 

Ryeowook stare at him

 

“He is your husband. He needs to protect you from danger”

 

“But”

 

“Wookie, just let him go here and beside Hyung is the only one who can help us now or else we really can’t attend our class for the whole day, unless the press will be tired of waiting and decides to go home and be back tomorrow for you”

 

Ryeowook shook her head while staring at him nervously

 

“No way! I’m tired of running. I hope they will stop chasing me. I really don’t know what to do; I’m not used to it. They’re so scary”

 

“Press people never get tired, especially if it is a hot issue. They will never stop chasing you until you talk and Hyung also give his side”

 

Ryeowook stand

 

“Then I’m going to give them what they want”

 

Kibum stop her before she can open the door

 

“Wookie, you’ll just put yourself into trouble. Ba ba Hannie told us that we are not going to speak no matter what happen, and that is what nai nai told him. We need to follow”

 

“Honestly, they need to stop. I’m going to tell them the truth that I’m not cheating with your brother and that they need to respect our privacy”

 

“You can’t handle them alone”

 

Ryeowook hold his hand

 

“Then you will go with me”

 

Kibum shook his head

 

“No way”

 

“But Bummie”

 

Kibum sigh and cupped her face

 

“Wookie, Hyung is coming. Please sit down, relax, and wait for him”

 

“How can I relax if they try to ruin me in public? They are actually making fake stories to ruin my relationship with Jongwoon. I can’t stand it anymore”

 

“We need to wait for Hyung and please don’t decide on yourself”

 

 

 

Jongwoon arrives at Seoul Conservatory with his bodyguards, the press heard about him arriving at the campus, they immediately chase him to interview him about the issue

 

“Jongwoon, is it true that you and Ms. Han Ryeowook are over?”

 

Jongwoon ignores them and keeps walking; his bodyguards try to stop them from going near him. Jongwoon grabs his phone and calls Kibum

 

“Where are you?”

 

“Room 313”

 

“I’ll be right there”

 

Jongwoon enters the elevator with his bodyguards and look for room 313. He can’t believe that there are a lot of presses inside the school, waiting for Ryeowook to come out of the room so they can interview her. Some of them became crazy upon seeing him and try to get his side about the issue, but he just ignores them and they fail to come closer because of the tight security

 

“Jongwoon-ah, please give us your opinion about the issue between you and your wife”

 

Jongwoon ignores them and stop in front of room 313 and start knocking

 

“Bummie, it’s me”

 

Kibum run towards the door

 

“Hyung, I’ll open the door but you need to go inside very quick”

 

“Arasso. Don’t worry I have bodyguards”

 

His bodyguards surround him, preventing the press to go near him. Kibum opens the door and Jongwoon get inside very quick and lock the door as his bodyguards watch the place outside

 

“Thank goodness that you’re finally here”

 

Kibum told him, Jongwoon look at Ryeowook who is staring at the window blankly

 

“The press starts chasing us and I can’t understand who let them in. We’re both shock to see that they are plenty of them. Ryeowook and I can’t attend our class because they keep on chasing us. We are walking on the hallway to go to our next class, when they suddenly appear out of nowhere and start to chase us. We need to run and hide, but they still find us”

 

“Is she alright?”

 

Kibum shook his head

 

“Hyung, Wookie is in big trouble. This thing can’t go on or else they will keep on chasing her. How could we study properly if they will keep on watching us and chase us as soon as our class is over? It’s hard for her because the media is ruining her image in public because of their fake stories and those stupid rumors. Wookie is not used to this kind of situation. I’m sure her parents will freak out when they find out about this”

 

Jongwoon take a deep breath and walk towards her

 

“Babe”

 

Ryeowook didn’t speak or turn her eyes towards him, she just keep on staring at the window blankly, tears start falling from her eyes

 

“Wookie”

 

Jongwoon hold her hand and she was shock to see him

 

“I didn’t notice that you arrive”

 

Ryeowook immediately wipe her tears

 

“Why did you come? It will be bad for you if the press see you too. They will chase you like what they are doing to me right now”

 

“I’m here for you”

 

Ryeowook just look at him

 

“We need to go home for the meantime”

 

Jongwoon hold her hand tight and look at Kibum

 

“You too will go home for the meantime”

 

“But we still have class Hyung”

 

“Bummie, if you will stay here while we leave the place they will chase you”

 

Kibum shook his head

 

“Of course not”

 

“Yes they will, I know them very well. Do you really think that they are just targeting Wookie? They are also targeting you, because you’re my brother”

 

“Hyung we can’t go home, we still have exam later”

 

“Then I’ll request for a special exam for both of you. It’s their fault for letting those press to get inside”

 

He walks towards Kibum dragging Ryeowook with him. He holds his brother’s hand

 

“Both of you needs to hold on me tight, arasso”

 

Kibum let go of his hand

 

“Hyung, you need to protect Wookie. I’ll be fine, don’t worry. I’ll be behind you”

 

“Ok. But you don’t go anywhere, you follow us. Arasso”

 

Kibum nod

 

“Yes”

 

“Did you bring your car?”

 

“Yes Hyung”

 

“You will ride with me and give your car key to my bodyguard, they will be the one who will drive it at home”

 

Jongwoon look at Ryeowook

 

“How about you babe?”

 

Ryeowook give him her car key

 

“Ok. We’re going now and I’ll talk to the President of this school”

 

Jongwoon opens the door, he hold Ryeowook closer to him while Kibum follows them from behind. Jongwoon’s bodyguards surround them, not letting the press to go near them or take pictures of them. Jongwoon went inside the President’s office with Kibum and Ryeowook.

 

“What the hell is happening inside?”

 

Jongwoon stare at the President seriously

 

“I don’t know how the press gets inside our campus Mr. Kim”

 

Jongwoon raised his eyebrow

 

“You’re the President, but you don’t know how did they get inside? What kind of security that your school has? My brother and my wife are already in trouble, but you didn’t even do anything to chase the press people away, is that right Mr. Hwang?”

 

Mr. Hwang bows his head

 

“Mianhae Mr. Kim”

 

“I don’t need your apology. You must tighten the securities inside this school, do you understand me? I’m not paying this school to put my wife into trouble as well as my brother. I’ll tell my father in law about this, so if I were you start acting now”

 

The school’s President nod nervously

 

“Yes Mr. Kim, I’m really sorry”

 

“And by the way my brother and my wife will go home now. I’m asking a special exam on their Theory and Criticism exam, to be scheduled next week”

 

“Yes Mr. Kim”

 

“Thanks and I don’t want this to happen again”

 

“Yes Mr. Kim”

 

Jongwoon bows at him and went outside with his wife and brother.

 

 

 

 

Jongwoon drops Kibum to their house

 

“Just tell Umma and Appa what happen if they ask you about it”

 

“Yes Hyung”

 

“We’re going now”

 

Kibum nods at them

 

“Bye Bummie. I’ll see you tomorrow”

 

“Ok”

 

Ryeowook waves her hand

 

“Hyung, drive safely and thanks for dropping me here”

 

“No problem, study hard”

 

Kibum smile and salute at him. Jongwoon start driving his car. Ryeowook was quiet while looking at the window

 

“Babe, are you ok?”

 

Ryeowook just nod without looking at him

 

“Thanks for rescuing us from the press people”

 

“I’m sorry if you’ve been involved with this chaotic situation”

 

“It’s ok, but the problem is, it’s not ok to ba ba and nai nai and of course to mama as well”

 

Ryeowook’s phone suddenly rings

 

“Ba ba”

 

“Where are you?”

 

“Jongwoon fetch me to school, we just drop Bummie at their house”

 

“Go straight here at Han Corporation”

 

“Ok”

 

Ryeowook hang up and stare at Jongwoon

 

“Ba ba wants us to go straight at Han Corporation”

 

“Why?”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“I don’t know”

 

Jongwoon notice her sad face

 

“Babe, why are you sad?”

 

Ryeowook didn’t answer him and stare at the window again

 

“Are you mad at me?”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“Then why are you like that?”

 

Ryeowook didn’t answer, Jongwoon just sigh and continue driving

 

 

 

 

*HAN CORPORATION*

 

 

Hankyung and Heechul were busy talking when Jongwoon and Ryeowook came in. Heechul run to her daughter and hug her tight

 

“Li xu, are you alright? I’ve heard about what happen to your school?”

 

Ryeowook stare at her mother curiously

 

“How did you know?”

 

“News spread so fast ok, so don’t be shocked if we already knew it”

 

Ryeowook sit on the sofa with Jongwoon. Hankyung stare at his daughter seriously

 

“Li xu, how many times do I have to tell you that you’re not allowed to drive alone without your bodyguards? I’ve send your driver and your bodyguards at the condominium, but you’re no longer there when they arrive. You’re really giving me a headache. I’m really going to send you in Beijing if you will always disobey me”

 

“Ba ba, you can’t just send her in Beijing. She’s my wife”

 

Hankyung stare at Jongwoon

 

“You’re not allowed to speak because I’m not talking to you”

 

Hankyung focus his attention again to his daughter who keeps her head low while holding her mother’s hands

 

“I told you to wait for them, why did you leave?”

 

“I’m going to be late in school if I wait for them”

 

Hankyung slam the book that he’s holding on the table, Heechul look at him with wide eyes

 

“Honey, please do—“

 

“Shut up Chullie, I’m still speaking and don’t try to defend your hard headed daughter”

 

Heechul close and hold Ryeowook’s hands tight

 

“Little princess, do you understand what you’re doing?”

 

Ryeowook stare at her father with teary eyes

 

“But ba ba I—“

 

“I know, but at least follow me. It’s for your own good. Just look what happen to you and to Kibum today, you’ve been chased by the media and I hate it. You are aware of the current situation; you know very well that you’re the hot issue in public today. I can’t stand that they are happy making fake stories about you, ruining your image in front of the public, then you are disobeying me? What if your husband didn’t come to rescue you? What if the media caught you and you can’t escape to them? What will happen to you? Let’s be thankful that Bummie is there, at least you have a companion, but not all the time he will be there for you”

 

“Mianhae”

 

“Please think about us, we’re worrying too much and thinking how to put this issue to an end. My head is already aching because of so many things that I need to do and then here you go disobeying me. You know that I hate it so much Li xu”

 

Jongwoon takes a deep breath and speak

 

“Ba ba, please don’t get mad at her”

 

“Then what do you want me to do? Throw a party because my daughter is disobeying me and because she is involved in a scandal right now?”

 

“It’s not what I mean, but I can call for a press conference and clear everything to put an end to this issue”

 

Hankyung shoot him a deadly glare

 

“You are not going to have a press conference or appear in front of the media ok. You’ve cause too much trouble when my daughter has been involved here, so you shut your mouth and you will never speak anything about it”

 

“But ba ba they will think that the rumors are true”

 

“I don’t care; you will never expose my daughter again in public, arasso. Mama will handle it and you will just shut your mouth until this issue ends. You’re not going to make any trouble again Jongwoon. Do I make myself clear?”

 

Jongwoon nods, Ryeowook look at Hankyung sadly

 

“Ba ba, it’s not right that you’ll put all the blame to my husband”

 

“Then whom shall I blame?”

 

“You blame me for this entire thing”

 

Heechul try to stop her from talking, but Ryeowook just ignores her. Tears start falling from her eyes while looking at her father sadly

 

“Babe, please stop blaming yourself. Just listen to ba ba”

 

Ryeowook ignores Jongwoon

 

“It’s all my fault ba ba. If I didn’t chase Jongwoon, the public will never know that we’re fighting. The only mistake that my husband did is because he’s a TV personality, that’s why media loves meddling on his private life, especially if he became involved in a situation like this”

 

Jongwoon hold her hand to stop her, but she just ignores him

 

“Please don’t get mad at him because it’s my fault. It’s my fault that we’re having a situation like this. It is my fault that we’re fighting because I don’t focus my attention to him. When I’m with Bummie, I forget about him because I’m such a flirt, so don’t get mad at him. He’s not doing anything, it just happens that he’s caught in the middle because he is a superstar living in a world that is surrounded by the media and it’s not his fault that I’ve got involved here because nobody expect it. Nobody wants it to happen”

 

Heechul hug Ryeowook and stare at her husband

 

“Honey, I think your daughter needs to have a rest. Please just leave her alone for the meantime”

 

Hankyung look at Jongwoon who is staring at his daughter sadly

 

“Jongwoon”

 

Jongwoon look at him

 

“I want the two of you to stay at the house for the meantime because the media might go at your house any minute just to catch you and Li xu”

 

Jongwoon nod

 

“Yes ba ba”

 

“I’ll just send someone who will pack your things and bring it at home and please leave your car key here. I’ll ask someone to drive it at your condominium, our family driver will just drop and fetch you to your school and work. We need to tighten the security. Both of you can’t just drive along the street alone and after school and work you need to go home straight to the house. No other activities without our knowledge”

 

“Yes ba ba”

 

“I’ll talk to Teukie and Kangin about this and I’m really sorry if Kibum has been involve in that chaotic situation awhile ago”

 

“It’s ok ba ba and beside the media is also chasing Bummie because he’s my brother”

 

Hankyung look at Heechul

 

“Please call mama. We’re going to have a conference now”

 

“Ok”

 

Hankyung grabs the telephone and calls his driver informing him to go to his office

 

“I’m going tomorrow at Seoul Conservatory and talk to the President of that school because he let this happen without doing anything”

 

Jongwoon nods, Hankyung’s driver knock and went inside the office. He bows at Hankyung

 

“Mr. Han”

 

“Please drop my son in law and my daughter at home. Tell Dongho to call someone who will get their things at the condominium and drop it at home”

 

“Yes Mr. Han”

 

Ryeowook look at her father’s driver

 

“Don’t forget to bring Dabong”

 

“Yes young lady”

 

Hankyung look at Jongwoon

 

“We’re going to talk when I got home. You need to go home now, and make sure Li xu is safe. Let her rest when you arrive at home. Thank you for rescuing her awhile ago”

 

“It’s my responsibility to protect my wife ba ba”

 

Jongwoon hold Ryeowook’s hand and bow at Hankyung and Heechul

 

“We’re going now”

 

“Please be safe and call me when you reach home”

 

Jongwoon nods at Heechul and leave together with Ryeowook

 

 

 

 

*HAN’S RESIDENCE*

 

 

Ryeowook went straight to her room, Jongwoon follows her

 

“Please leave me for the meantime. I want to be alone”

 

Jongwoon sigh and left the room. He went at the library and read books while waiting for Hankyung and Heechul to arrive. He grabs his phone and calls Heechul to inform her that they are already at home. After talking to her, he focus his attention again on the book that he’s reading, but can’t fully understand what he is reading because of thinking so deep and because of thinking about Ryeowook. He closes the book and went to her room. Ryeowook was crying on the bed when Jongwoon enters the room. He carefully closes the door, so she won’t know that he is there. He walks carefully towards her and give her a warm hug

 

“I told you to leave me first”

 

Jongwoon didn’t speak; he remains quiet and hugs her tight

 

“I’m sorry Jongwoon for putting you in this kind of situation and for hurting you. I’m sorry if you get jealous because of Bummie and I’m sorry because I can’t be a perfect wife for you, but I’m trying my best to be the best wife for you”

 

Jongwoon place his chin on her shoulder

 

“Please don’t cry, and don’t apologize. It’s not your fault”

 

“Ba ba hates you because of me”

 

“I understand him. Every father will be mad seeing his daughter crying because of her arrogant husband”

 

Ryeowook turn to face him

 

“I’m scared Jongwoon”

 

She hugs her husband

 

“You don’t need to be scared”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“You don’t understand. I’m scared because it might affect your career and it’s my fault”

 

Jongwoon hold her lips

 

“Shhh, babe it’s not your fault. I’m the one who put you to this. I can understand if ba ba is really mad at me because I put you in the situation that will be hard for you to escape, and ba ba knows that. I want to clear everything, but I respect your families’ decision to remain silent. Ba ba is right, I’ve already cause too much trouble in Han family”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“That’s not true”

 

“Your husband is really a head ache and I admit that. Please don’t carry the entire burden and don’t blame yourself just to defend me to your parents. You’re not doing anything to hurt me that much. I’m the one who suppose to apologize to you. I always make you cry and I always hurt you so much. I always take you for granted, and never appreciate that I have a very kind and loving wife. I always fail to listen to you, understand you, and follow you. I even don’t care chasing you whenever you’re crying because of me. I am always confident that you will chase me and beg in front of me. I never care at all, especially on how you feel. Because of me, tears never stop falling from your eyes and it’s my fault babe”

 

Jongwoon kissed her

 

“Please stop crying, it hurts me”

 

He wipes the tears that keep on falling from her eyes

 

“I’m sorry babe”

 

Ryeowook place her head on his chest. Jongwoon hug her tight

 

“I love you Jongwoon”

 

“I love you too and that will never change”

 

Ryeowook didn’t speak or move. She just stays on that kind of position, feeling Jongwoon’s warm body and listen to his heart beat

 

“We can outshine this issue, right hubby?”

 

Jongwoon nod

 

“Of course, we’re going to show them that our relationship is strong. I’m going to make sure that those who are making fake stories about you will eat their words”

 

“Jongwoon…please don’t leave me again”

 

Jongwoon shook his head

 

“I’m not going to leave you again babe. You’re the only woman that I love and that will be forever. Nothing can ever separate us. I will love you until my last breath”

 

Jongwoon kissed her and laid her on the bed

 

“You need to sleep now babe, just have a rest for the meantime”

 

Jongwoon wipe her tears and her hair gently

 

“Please don’t worry too much, you’ll just stress yourself. Leave it to me and to ba ba. Trust us, this thing will be over soon”

 

Ryeowook nods

 

“Stop crying now babe, I love you”

 

Jongwoon kissed her forehead, Ryeowook hold on to his hand tight

 

“Please stay here, don’t leave me. I want you to be by my side, please”

 

Jongwoon sit beside her while holding her hand tight

 

“Arasso”

 

He kissed her and holds her close to his arms. Ryeowook slowly close her eyes

 

 

 

 

Hankyung and Heechul arrive at home; it was already two in the morning. They went at Ryeowook’s room to check her. They find Jongwoon sitting beside her while reviewing the expenses and sales report of Shanghai Corporation

 

“Why are you still awake?”

 

Heechul walk towards him and kissed his forehead

 

“I’m waiting for ba ba”

 

Hankyung was staring at Ryeowook then he look at Jongwoon

 

“How is my little princess?”

 

“She’s fine but not that fine. She’s still worried about the issue”

 

“I see. I’ll see you in my office. Please be there at five minutes”

 

Heechul look at her husband

 

“Honey, it’s already late at night, you can just talk tomorrow morning”

 

“We need to finish something, you sleep first. I’ll just follow after we talk”

 

Heechul sigh, Hankyung went outside to go to his office. Jongwoon look at Heechul

 

“Mama, are you going to sleep?”

 

“Not really. I still need to review some laboratory experiments, why?”

 

“Please watch Wookie for me. She might freak out if she wakes up without seeing me by her side”

 

“No problem dear, you go now because your ba ba really wants to talk to you”

 

“Thanks mama”

 

Jongwoon went outside and knocked at Hankyung’s office. He slowly opens the door and see Hankyung sitting on his chair.

 

“Please come in son”

 

Jongwoon came in and gently close the door. He sits on the couch and looks at his father in law

 

“I know that you don’t even have any idea why I want to talk to you”

 

Jongwoon stare at him blankly

 

“It’s about Li xu”

 

“What about my wife?”

 

Hankyung sigh and hold his head

 

“Mama told us that she’s already allowing you to speak in front of the media to clear this issue”

 

“Then?”

 

“Jongwoon, you know very well that I hate exposing my daughters in public. Li xu is not used with this kind of situation because she and Minnie was leaving in a very private family and our life is really private”

 

Jongwoon remains quiet while listening to Hankyung

 

“This is the first time that one of my daughters has been involved in a scandal; this is the first time that Han family has been involved in this chaotic situation. It really makes my head ache, thinking about it every night. I just want to tell you that when you face the media to speak about this issue, you will never answer any question again after your press conference. You’ll just going to face them once, do you understand?”

 

Jongwoon nod

 

“Yes ba ba”

 

“Now, if ever this issue didn’t stop though you already spoken, let us do the rest. Mama told me to give the decision to you because you’re Li xu’s husband. If you decided to have a press conference to clear this thing, go ahead. I’m not going to stop you, but the moment that they still intervene on your private life, you need to leave the rest to us”

 

“What are you going to do Ba ba?”

 

Hankyung stare at him

 

“I’ll send Li xu in Beijing”

 

Jongwoon’s eyes widened while looking at Hankyung

 

“But ba ba, you can’t do that”

 

“I’m sorry, but I need to do that. I don’t want her to be in trouble.”

 

“How about us? She’s my wife”

 

“I know, but you can just visit her there”

Hankyung stare at him sadly

 

“Jongwoon, please understand me. I’m sorry if I am being selfish, but I’m just protecting my daughter in this kind of shameful situation. Those fake issues and stupid rumors are ruining her image in public and I even heard someone talking about her, thinking that she’s a . I hope you understand that we are a very private family. We don’t want our daughters to get involved with the press people because we want them to live in a normal life”

 

“I’m sorry ba ba but I’m not going to allow you to do that”

 

“Then tell me what else do I have to do to protect Li xu from them?”

 

Jongwoon fell silent

 

“Jongwoon, it is very painful to me when this issue came out in public. I am so worried with you and Li xu. To be honest I am mad at you because of what happen, but Li xu is right. I can’t put all the blame to you, but I don’t know what else to do to stop this stupid issue.
