CHAPTER 20

 

 

The couple are back in Seoul, Jongwoon is not talking with Ryeowook while they are in Hawaii, he even sleep in other room. He drops Ryeowook at her school before meeting up with Kyuhyun and Sungmin

 

“I miss you Jongwoon”

 

Sungmin hug him tight; Kyuhun smile as he pat his shoulder. They sit and start eating their lunch

 

“How’s the honeymoon?”

 

Kyuhyun ask him while smiling; Jongwoon just stare at them without saying any words

 

“What happen? Is something wrong?”

 

Jongwoon shook his head

 

“It’s just a normal vacation”

 

Sungmin raise her eyebrow

 

“Meaning?”

 

“Nothing happen between me and your sister”

 

Sungmin sigh and look at Kyuhyun

 

“Why are you so slow?”

 

“Kyu, I am not slow, she doesn’t want to do it that’s why”

 

“You’re alraedy married for four months and a half, but still nothing is happening between the two of you?”

 

Jongwoon look at Sungmin

 

“She doesn’t even want to be pregnant”

 

Sungmin’s eyes widened

 

“What? Li xu is really crazy”

 

“I don’t know how to understand her, but I feel so upset”

 

Kyuhyun smirk

 

“Upset because you can’t her?”

 

“YAH!!!”

 

Jongwoon stare at him seriously, Sungmin elbows him

 

“I am not that kind of man, I maybe a playboy but I’m not like that, ok?”

 

“I’m just kidding cousin. No need to be serious”

 

Sungmin hold his hand

 

“I’ll talk to her”

 

Jongwoon shook his head

 

“No need, we’re going to talk about it later. I just respect her if she doesn’t want, because she’s my wife and I love her”

 

Sungmin’s eyes widened hearing Jongwoon, Kyuhyun stare at him blankly

 

“Did I hear it right Jongwoon-ah? You love my sister?”

 

“Do I need to repeat it? I love her. If you don’t want to believe then it’s fine”

 

Sungmin tears start forming in her eyes as she hugs him tight

 

“This is the best news that I heard from you”

 

“Was it wrong to love your alien sister?”

 

“Of course not and for that I’ll give you a kiss”

 

Sungmin kiss his cheek, Jongwoon smile and look at Kyuhyun

 

“Minnie, my cousin will hit me if you keep on kissing my cheek”

 

“It’s just an endearment”

 

Kyuhyun punch his shoulder and smile

 

“So you already change huh?”

 

“Because of her”

 

“Then that’s the magic of true love”

 

“I guess so”

 

Jongwoon smile at them

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ryeowook was drinking her juice blankly, Kibum sit beside her and kiss her cheek

 

“OMO”

 

Kibum smile at her

 

“You scared me Bummie”

 

“What are you looking at?”

 

“Nothing”

 

Kibum look at her curiously

 

“I’m just thinking of something”

 

“What is it?”

 

Ryeowook lean her head on his shoulder and sigh

 

“Bummie, I’m going to ask something”

 

Kibum nod in approval

 

“Go ahead”

 

Ryeowook takes a deep breath before talking

 

“Are you going to get mad or frustrated, if your wife doesn’t want to get pregnant?”

 

Kibum raise his eyebrow

 

“I don’t know, I’m still single”

 

“I’m asking you because you’re a man”

 

“Well maybe I will, because no matter how good the relationship between husband and wife, they still need to have children to share their love and grow”

 

“You think so?”

 

Kibum nod

 

“Wookie, children are the parents’ happiness. It will be hard for them living together without having a child, and mind you it will be a big problem between married couple when the wife can’t bear a child”

 

Ryeowook sigh

 

“What will happen if I get pregnant?”

 

Kibum look at her curiously

 

“Are you pregnant?”

 

Ryeowook immediately shook her head

 

“No”

 

“Then why are you asking?”

 

“Do I need to stop studying?”

 

“Maybe, but if you can handle it and the pregnancy is not that fragile maybe the doctor will allow you to study while carrying a child in your womb, but if you’re going to ask me, Hyung will not allow you to continue studying while your pregnant”

Ryeowook stare at him

 

“Are you expecting a child?”

 

“No”

 

“You and Hyung are planning to have one?”

 

“That’s the problem because Jongwoon wants but I don’t want”

 

Kibum poke her

 

“Why?”

 

“I’m scared and I don’t want to stop my studies”

 

“You’re being selfish sweetie pie”

 

Ryeowook pouts

 

“I’m not being selfish ok”

 

“Do you want to listen to my opinion or not?”

 

“Speak”

 

Kibum look at her

 

“Do you consider yourself as Hyung’s wife?”

 

“Of course”

 

“He already considers you as his wife?”

 

Ryeowook nod

 

“Yes”

 

“You and Hyung are already married right?”

 

“Yes”

 

“It’s a legal marriage right?”

 

Ryeowook nod again

 

“Then, what’s wrong if you get pregnant?”

 

“I’m scared”

 

“Scared of what?”

 

“I’m still young Bummie; I’m only eighteen to bear a child”

 

“Come on Wookie, eighteen years old is not that young anymore. Honestly in States, you’ll find girls ranging from fifteen and up getting pregnant out of wedlock, and in Australia there’s also a lot of cases like that”

 

“But I’m not like them”

 

Kibum flick her forehead

 

“I know, what I’m trying to say is, you always reason out that you’re only eighteen. Why can’t you just tell Hyung that you’re not yet ready to bear a child rather than telling him that you’re just eighteen? Hyung will never understand you if that will be your reason, and besides you’re already married with each other and it’s not that bad to have a child you know”

 

“You think so?”

 

Kibum hold her hands

 

“Wookie, having a child is a very wonderful blessing between married couple; it’s a joy to give your husband a child, and it’s the happiness of the married couple to share their love with the children. Umma told me before that having us as her children is the greatest treasure that she possess, and she’s happy that she’s sharing her love not only to Appa but to her children”

 

“If you’re my husband, what will be your reaction if I don’t want to be pregnant?”

 

“It will hurt me”

 

“Why?”

 

Kibum pouts

 

“I don’t know? Wookie, to be honest I really don’t know because I’m not yet experiencing that kind of situation, but I will feel hurt because it feels like my wife don’t want to share her entire life with me, and it feels so empty without children”

 

“Mama and Umma are really looking forward to have a grandchild soon, and I don’t know if I can give them one”

 

“Just don’t mind them and don’t feel pressure; that day will come and you have to wait for that day”

 

Ryeowook stare at him sadly

 

“Jongwoon is mad at me”

 

“The best way to solve this problem is, to talk with each other”

 

“But he don’t want to talk to me”

 

“He will, just give him a chance to be a father”

 

“I hope I can give that chance to him”

 

Ryeowook stare at him and pinch his nose

 

“You’re so serious Bummie”

 

“You’re the one who’s being serious here; it’s early in the afternoon and you look like a little kid who lose her toy”

 

“But still, you’re serious in life unlike your brother who is a happy go lucky guy”

 

“Hyung is really like that, he’s afraid to bear responsibilities”

 

“I hope I can be a good wife for him”

 

“Of course you will”

 

Kibum hug her

 

“I’ll see you tomorrow, ok?”

 

Ryeowoook nod

 

“Ok, I’ll wait for you at home, don’t be late”

 

“Of course, we need to study together for our exam. You need to go home now and have a rest”

 

“I’ll visit Mama and ba ba today”

 

“They will fetch you?”

 

“Yes”

 

“Ok then, I’ll go now. I still need to practice cello”

 

“I’ll see you tomorrow, drive safely”

 

Kibum smile before leaving; Ryeowook grab her phone and calls her mother

 

“Mama”

 

“Yes Li xu?”

 

“Mama, can you fetch me now? I want to go at home and visit you and ba ba, and I need to talk to you”

 

Heechul can sense that there’s something wrong with her daughter

 

“I’ll call your father to fetch you since he’s on his way home. I’ll wait for you at home”

 

“Arasso”

 

 

 

 

Ryeowook walks towards the black limousine, her father’s bodyguard open the door for her. Ryeowook went in and hug Hankyung who was smiling brightly at her.

 

“I miss you so much honey”

 

“Ba ba”

 

Ryeowook’s tears suddenly fall from her eyes

 

“Fēngmì shì zěnme huí shì? Nǐ wèishéme kū?” (Honey, what’s going on? Why are you crying?)

 

“Jongwoon hé wǒ zhēng”  (Jongwoon and I fight)

 

Hankyung stare at her

 

“Bà ba, nǐ zhēn de xiǎng ràng wǒ huáiyùn kuài?” (Ba ba, do you really want me to get pregnant soon?)

 

“Dāngrán bùshì“ (Of course not)

 

“Nándào nǐ zhēn de xīwàng cóng wǒ sūnzi?” (Do you really expect to have a grandchild from me?)

 

Hankyung nod

 

“Yes”

 

Ryeowook start crying hard; Hankyung was shock and can’t understand why she’s crying. He hug his daughter as he pat her back

 

“Mianhae ba ba, but I just can’t do it”

 

“Zuò shénme?” (Do what?)

 

“Wǒ bù xīwàng huáiyùn. Wǒ hěn hàipà” (I don’t want to get pregnant. I’m so scared)

 

Hankyung fell silent and just let her cry on his arms; when Ryeowook got tired of crying, Hankyung look at her and wipe her tears

 

“Li xu, listen to Ba ba”

 

Ryeowook nod

 

“Mama and ba ba wants to have a grandchild from you and Minnie; if you’re not ready to be a mother and have a child, then it’s up to you and its fine with us. Your mom is excited to take care of a baby that’s why she’s really expecting to have a grandchild soon, but she’ll understand if you’re not yet ready. You’re eighteen, and you still have a lot of time to think about having a child. Just don’t mind your mom if she acts likes that, she’s a bit weird you know”

 

Ryeowook laugh

 

“Mama will pull your hair if she heard you”

 

“I’m used to it”

 

Hankyung hold her cheek

 

“Ba ba doesn’t want to see my baby cry so no more crying, arasso?”

 

Ryeowook nod

 

“Don’t feel pressure regarding pregnancy, and don’t be afraid to be a mom because having a child is the greatest treasure that parents have, and you’ll understand it when you’re finally there”

 

“Jongwoon is mad at me because I told him that I don’t want to get pregnant”

 

“Every husband will really get mad at their wife if they will tell them that. As a father, when I heard that your mom is pregnant with Minnie, I really can’t explain the happiness that I’m feeling on that moment. I really jump because of happiness, and when Chullie give birth to Minnie, it feels so great and my tears start falling because of joy when I touch her little fingers, and of course I feel the same way too when you arrive in the family. Being a father is fun and full of happiness, though we face a lot of difficulties and responsibilities, but having a child feels so great. Jongwoon wants to feel it, so you need to give him a chance; don’t ever tell him that again because you’re just hurting him if you do so”

 

“There’s one more thing”

 

Ryeowook bows her head because she’s embarrass to look at her father

 

“We’re still not having ”

 

Hankyung laugh softly

 

“Our Li xu is still a baby”

 

Ryeowook blush as she stare at Hankyung

 

“What will I do ba ba?”

 

“I don’t know, what is the reaction of Jongwoon?”

 

“He respect my decision”

 

“Then you’re lucky, not all man can understand their wife regarding on that matter; that’s why other men finds other woman if their wife is not good in bed”

 

Ryeowook’s eyes widened

 

“OMO, then that means Jongwoon will have an affair with other woman?”

 

“Yah! Do you really think that he’s like that?”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“No”

 

“Try to talk with him about that matter, but Li xu you have to do it”

 

“I don’t want”

 

“Then I’m not going to question Jongwoon if he returns you to us one day”

 

“Ba ba”

 

Hankyung kiss her forehead and smile

 

“Don’t be afraid honey, just take it easy, and give it to Jongwoon. He’s your husband anyway”

 

Ryeowook sigh as she stares at her father

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Mama”

 

Ryeowook run towards Heechul and hug her tight

 

“Mama”

 

Heechul kiss her cheek and look at Hankyung who is mumbling something at her; Heechul just read the words from his mouth. Heechul nods at him and hand Ryeowook a box of tissue

 

“Why are you giving me tissue Mama?”

 

“Cry now”

 

Ryeowook start crying; Heechul help her to sit on the sofa

 

“What about Jongwoon?”

 

Ryeowook stare at her blankly

 

“You’re not going to cry like that if Jongwoon is not that the reason”

 

Ryeowook hug her and tell the whole story. Heechul keeps on eyeing Hankyung who is walking around while listening at them

 

“Li xu, don’t be so selfish with your husband. I know that you’re scared to make love with him, but telling him that you don’t want to bear a child, that’s a big no no”

 

“I didn’t mean to tell him that”

 

“You need to talk with him when you get home and tell him that you’re not yet ready. I’m sure that he’ll understand you and mianhae for giving you pressure. I didn’t know that it will be very difficult for you”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“Mama it’s not your fault, but I really hope that you and Teukie Umma can understand me and wait for me to get pregnant”

 

Heechul hold her cheek and smile

 

“I can always wait for that day honey, and I’m sure Teukie will do the same; but what I want you to do is clear this issue with your husband so there won’t be any conflict between you regarding this matter. I don’t want to see you like that, and I don’t want that the time came, Jongwoon will blame it all to you; so talk to him while it’s still early and please stop being selfish towards him. You may take away his right to make love to you, but don’t you ever take away his right to be a father someday”

 

“I understand”

 

Heechul hug her daughter, Hankyung sit beside her and hugs them

 

“Don’t be sad anymore, because mama and ba ba will feel the same way too and it hurts us so much seeing our baby like this”

 

Ryeowook wipe her tears

 

“I really wonder if Jongwoon can resist his crybaby wife, I’m not going to be shock if he returns you to us”

 

“If he’ll return me to you, nobody will cook for him”

 

Heechul laugh

 

“It’s his loss if he does that”

 

Hankyung smile at them; Sungmin arrive with Kyuhyun and Jongwoon and he is surprised to see his wife

 

“Li xu”

 

Sungmin run towards her sister and hug her tight

 

“Unnie, I can’t breathe, don’t hug me too tight”

 

“I miss you so much sweetheart”

 

“I miss you too Unnie”

 

Heechul walks towards Jongwoon and Kyuhyun and hug them

 

“It’s good to see you Jongwoon and Kyu”

 

“I meet up with Minnie and Kyu awhile ago, and we decided to continue our bonding time here at your home”

 

Jongwoon smile at Heechul and hug her, he walks towards Hankyung and bows at him

 

“Ba ba it’s good to see you”

 

Hankyung smile and ruffle his hair. Jongwoon looks at Ryeowook…Heechul drag Hankyung and signal Minnie and Kyu to follow them at the garden. They went outside to prepare their picnic, leaving the married couple at the living room. Ryeowook and Jongwoon stare at each other. Ryeowook come closer to him and hold his hand, but Jongwoon ignores him.

 

“Hubby, please talk to me”

 

Ryeowook hold his cheek

 

“I know that you’re mad at me, but please let’s talk about it. I don’t want to have a fight with you”

 

“You’re the one who start it first”

 

“I know, but”

 

Ryeowook bows her head

 

“Do you still think that this is some kind of a joke? Wookie, we’re not playing anymore; our marriage is not a joke but I really can’t understand why do you keep on playing around and thinking that everything is a joke?”

 

“It’s not like that”

 

“Then what?”

 

Ryeowook start crying

 

“I’m talking to you, don’t cry!”

 

Jongwoon stand and stare at her, he grab her arm

 

“We’re going to settle this at home”

 

Ryeowook shook her head

 

“Aish! I’m losing my temper to you! Why do I need to have a wife who is so childish and cries easily?”

 

Ryeowook keeps on crying

 

“Wookie!!! I’m talking to you”

 

Ryeowook stare at him while crying

 

“Why are you shouting at me? I’m not fighting with you, but why are you fighting with me? Wo hen ni”

 

“I told you not to speak language that I can’t understand; I’m really losing my temper Wookie, so please stop being a child”

 

“You don’t want to listen to me”

 

“I’m listening to you”

 

“No you’re shouting at me”

 

Jongwoon takes a deep breath

 

“Can you please sit down before I can do something bad to you?”

 

Ryeowook sit at the sofa and wipes her tears; Jongwoon sigh and calm his self before joining her on the sofa

 

“Ok, we’re going to talk, but please don’t cry anymore or I’ll leave you here and return you to mama and ba ba”

 

Ryeowook nod

 

“What are you trying to tell me awhile ago?”

 

“Mianhae”

 

“That’s all?”

 

Ryeowook nod

 

“Then let’s go out because they are waiting for us”

 

Jongwoon stand to leave without looking at her

 

“I’m not yet done, why are you leaving?”

 

Jongwoon stare at him seriously

 

“KIM RYEOWOOK, YOU’RE REALLY ANNOYING ME...AISH!”

 

 

 

 

Meanwhile...

 

 

From a far away distance, Heechul is watching the couple with her binoculars

 

“OMO, they are fighting”

 

Hankyung stand beside her

 

“What the hell are you doing Chullie?”

 

Heechul jumps and hit his shoulder

 

“YAH! Are you trying to kill me? You’re so scary, what’s on your mind? You’re popping all of a sudden, that was so scary”

 

“I’m not scaring you”

 

Hankyung take the binoculars away from her

 

“Don’t spy on your daughter, let her grow please”

 

Sungmin walks towards them with Kyuhyun

 

“We’re done preparing our dinner.”

 

Sungmin notice her mother frowning

 

“Why are you frowning mama?”

 

“You’re father take away my binoculars, and he doesn’t want to give it back”

 

“Why?”

 

Hankyung look at Sungmin

 

“You’re obsess mother is spying on your sister and Jongwoon again”

 

“I’m not obsess Hannie, it’s just that I want to be sure that they are not fighting”

 

“It’s none of your business ok”

 

“Of course it is, Li xu is my daughter”

 

“But Jongwoon is her husband, and it’s between them. Just let them fight if they want”

 

“What? Do you understand what are you saying?”

 

“Of course I do”

 

Heechul’s eyes widened while staring at her husband

 

“Aish! What’s wrong with you?”

 

Hankyung shook his head while smiling brightly

 

“Nothing, how about you honey, what’s wrong with you? Do I need to get a doctor to get your blood pressure?”

 

“YAH!!!”

 

Heechul hit him

 

“I’m just kidding”

 

“I’m not playing around”

 

“I’m not playing around too”

 

Hankyung smile at her

 

“Just give me the binoculars, so that I won’t hate you anymore”

 

Heechul flash a puppy eyes

“Mianhae honey, I love you so I won’t give this back to you”

 

“I’m watching your daughter!!!”

 

“Stop meddling on her business”

 

“I’m not meddling on their business; I just want to watch them”

 

“Stalker”

 

“Just mind your own business”

 

Heechul grab the binoculars away from him and start spying Ryeowook and Jongwoon; Sungmin and Kyuhyun were laughing softly while watching her, Hankyung just sigh and walk away to grill the sword fish

 

 

 

 

 

 

“I told you not to shout”

 

“You’re annoying me”

 

“Jongwoon-ah”

 

“WHAT?”

 

“Please sit down”

 

Jongwoon sit down beside her, Ryeowook wrap her hands on his arm and lean her head on it

 

“Mianhae, but please understand that I’m not yet ready to have a child. I’m really scared of making love with you, that’s why I don’t want. I just can’t stand being in front of other people”

 

“But I’m not an other person, I am your husband”

 

“I know, but please wait for me to be ready with regards to that matter”

 

Jongwoon look at her

 

“I can’t do anything if you don’t want to do it, and it won’t feel good if I force you, but I hope you’ll change your mind regarding on being pregnant. I want to have a child Wookie, and we’re not on a hurry so you don’t need to be afraid, I’ll wait for you to be ready. I respect you because I love you”

 

“You really love me?”
 

“Fine, if you don’t want then I hate you”

 

Ryeowook hug him

 

“Of course I want”

 

“One more thing, stop being a child and don’t speak language that I can’t understand”

 

Ryeowook nod; Jongwoon try to kiss her but she stops him

 

“You still need to follow my rule, no kissing and touching”

 

“I don’t care about that childish rule and I have the right to disobey it”

 

Jongwoon laid her on the sofa and look at her eyes

 

“Just let me kiss you, please”

 

Ryeowook smile and wrap her arms around his neck

 

“No”

 

“Yes, because you owe me something”

 

Ryeowook raised her eyebrow

 

“What?”

 

“You didn’t even call me to inform that you’re going here today. Good thing Minnie drags me along or else I’ll end up waiting for you all day at your school”

 

“I forgot”

 

Ryeowook smile at him, Jongwoon brush his nose from her nose and kiss her lips gently as Ryeowook response to his kiss

 

 

 

 

Heechul giggles while watching at her binoculars; Sungmin notice her and walks towards her

 

“Mama”

 

“Shhh, leave me alone”

 

Heechul told her, still looking at her binoculars

 

“Why are you blushing?”

 

Heechul smile at Sungmin and hand her the binoculars; Sungmin look on it and saw Ryeowook and Jongwoon kissing on the sofa

 

“Mama, you don’t have to be a ert you know”

 

“Yah! Han Sungmin, who told you to talk to me like that?”

 

“I’m just telling you the truth”

 

“Give back my binoculars and leave me alone”

 

“No way”

 

Sungmin grab her mother’s arm and drag Heechul with her and give the binoculars to Hankyung

 

“Don’t ever give that again to mama so she’ll stop being a ert and spying on our Li xu”

 

“Arasso”

 

Hankyung smile while looking at Heechul who keeps on frowning at them.
