I stayed awake the whole while, not used to sleeping in the room. Or maybe, I was more disturbed with the fact that such crazy fans existed. Also, the feeling of uneasiness lingered watching JaeJoong’s expression as he talked about the sensitive topic.

Frustrated, I got out of the room, wanting a cup of warm water. Slowly opening the door, I tiptoed to the living room. There, I saw JaeJoong was, too on the couch, reading my book in the dim light. He looked up from his book, as he sensed my presence.

“Oh, hey, do you need anything?” JaeJoong smiled.

“Not really, just can’t really sleep.”

“Me too,” JaeJoong chuckled softly. “Join me.”

“Are you thinking about the sasaeng fans?” I asked, his eyes reflected tiredness.

“I thought I was the strongest person. But I am embarrassed for continuously breaking down. Sometimes, I even wonder why I would be mad about people like that. I tried to curb and I felt sorry to all of the many people who have been giving me support.”

I listened in silence. He must have been holding this in for awhile.

“My mum used to read bed time stories to coax me to sleep when I was young.” JaeJoong recalled those happy memories of his childhood even before I could respond to his previous comments.

“Really? Mine too,” I smiled, looking at the book on his lap.

“Why not I read you a chapter?” I volunteered, reaching out my hands for the book. JaeJoong handed his book willingly.

“Where did you stop?” I asked and he pointed out. He got into a comfortable position, ready to listen to his bed time story.

“Next morning, I woke up, remembering what had happened last night very clearly. It made my mood more than pleasant, as I knew a fact: He  was already a part of my life. I opened my eyes to the new day. There, sat him sleeping on the floor. My face lit with a bright smile was like a model on the poster. As I tried to get up, I was restricted. Looking at what is holding me, it was him. We never let go of each other the whole night.

…..”

I read on the story that he left off, completing it till he fall asleep. It was a new experience to me. I knew the contents of the story so well that I didn’t bother to flip the pages when the first copy of the book came. I was just thrilled to publish my book, and it became one of my collections.

Reading it again was like promoting your book in your own way, to tell people how should the main sound like, how to differentiate the change in tone. In fact, it was a brilliant idea to do a voice over of my book. I did a mental note to myself, and to inform Ms Baek tomorrow.

I glanced over at JaeJoong as I finished the chapter. He sat there perfectly still, breathing evenly. Was he really asleep? I went closer, waving my hands in front of him. No respond.

Smiling, I observed his god-like features. The only flaw was those huge eye bags. A legend of Korean Pop music was just in front of me. Normally, a fan girl would be screaming their lungs out, seeing their idols. But, to me, at this moment, he was just a man. He was a man who needed attention of someone who cared for him, and even to treat him as a child, giving in to his small demands- freedom.

Unable to resist, I swiped his fringe away and got a clearer view. Really, just simply a model perfectly sculptured. I sighed, a little ashamed of losing to him in beauty wise. I got up slowly, and went into the room to get his blanket.

As I covered him with the blanket, something caught my eyes. It was a wooden bookmark. It wrote: Never give up on love.

I smiled at those words. Those exact words were my motto for life. The motivation to keep moving, because you know there would be the strength of love to support you no matter where you are.

“Night, JaeJoong,” I whispered, giving a peck on his forehead.
